The group joined other Nigerians in a statement by its Amir, Luqman AbdurRaheem, in Lagos on Monday to condemn the bombings. The statement said, "The bombings are condemnable and totally antithetical to the principles of peace, tolerance and decorum preached by Islam and exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim. The action is even more repulsive because it took place during the periods of Arafat and Eidul Adha. "This criminal incident has once again revealed that the group does not represent the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria, as wrongly being insinuated by some elements and hate theologians in the media." The congress said the translation of the sect’s name – Western education is forbidden – was based on a philosophy that ran contrary to the theological and foundation of Islam. "Islam contributed immensely to the development of what became western knowledge today," it said. http://www.punchng.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=3895:muslim-congress-condemns-boko-haram-attacks&Itemid=542 |

Irukwu, a former investment banker and a senior Pastor of Jesus House (a Pentecostal church) in London since 1994, has been under a series of attack from gay rights campaigners for his outspoken views on homosexuality. Similarly, British Prime Minister David Cameron has threatened to cut aid to African countries that do not respect gay rights. Irukwu won 54 per cent of votes in a competition organised by the Mayor of London, Mr Boris Johnson and Metro Report, a local Newspaper. He was picked from a shortlist that also included U.S. President Barack Obama, former South African President Nelson Mandela and late U.S. human rights activist Martin Luther King. Other Nigerians also shortlisted were Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, UK-based Nigerian news broadcaster, Ronke Phillips and writer/radio presenter Dotun Adebayo. Irukwu, in his reaction, said it was humbling to be voted as the most inspiring person. ``In no way do I consider myself to be a hero; certainly not of the calibre of iconic figures such as Nelson Mandela and Barack Obama, for whom I have great admiration, and others who have made indelible marks on the sands of history. ``I believe that those votes were not for me personally, but an acknowledgement of the values of Jesus Christ which I stand for, strive to live by and teach.'' In a congratulatory message to Irukwu, the Central Association of Nigerians in the UK (CANUK) described him as an ``energetic, hard working and pragmatic Nigerian''. ``This award is symbolic of what postive things we (Nigerians) can do as a people in any part of the world.'' http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/News/5747228-147/uk-based_nigerian_anti-gay_pastor_wins_britains.csp |
toba:Don't mind him; SweetNecta can marry a temporary wife if he travels to India and live with her for the duration of his stay as long as he pays her for providing sexual favors. The quran allows that. What fascinates me about Islam is how Muhammad made sure that the sexual needs of muslim men are very well taken care of while the women are left out of the box. Muhammad even made sure that 1-minute men are covered because in Islam, a woman is not supposed to achieve orgazm and many Islamic women don't know that women can climax thereby giving their 1-minute men shield against embarrassment. The men are also allowed to contract for temporary wives when they travel[ which is equivalent to getting asewo or mistress] in your new domain while wifey/s is at home waiting for oga to return from travel. Muhammad was a freaking genius. |
maclatunji:So having Islam in my background is enough to make me shut up when the religion is causing a lot of pain to people's lives?. No wonder Nigeria is bad today because we find it difficult to say the truth when the push comes to shove. The bible says in John 8 vs 32:" For you shall know the truth and only the truth shall set you FREE". |
maclatunji:Then make them understand it asap before we lose more lives. Shall we continue to wait until the understand the essence of the religion while they continue to massacre us out of ignorance?. If they don't understand it very well, then Islam has failed in teaching its faithfuls about the religion. Isn't the religion more than 900 years old?. How long will it take for their faithfuls to completely understand the quran? |
Stop killing our ozone layer with that junk. Please try and dispose the junk properly because the catalytic converter is obviously bad ; look for a junk yard that can effectively crush that vehicle with minimal emission and go buy yourself a newer vehicle. No wonder Nigeria is very hot. |

Sex tears family apart By RITA OKOYE Sunday, November 6, 2011 • I lost my manhood in auto crash and my wife’s taking advantage of this – Man [img]http://odili.net/news/source/2011/nov/6/sun/akinwale-lost-manhood[1].jpg[/img] Mr. Akinwale • I own up to my inability to meet up with my husband’s demands –Wife Just like Umuofia, in Chinua Achebe’s fictional novel, Things Fall Apart, life for Akinwale Ayinde Sodiq has, indeed, fallen apart. And for him, therefore, the centre can no longer hold. If the 52-year-old vulcanizer had foreseen the calamity that awaited him, when he was travelling to his hometown, Apomo, in Osun, he wouldn’t have ventured out. He embarked on the trip and is today regretting ever doing so. This is so because he was involved in an auto crash, which rendered part of his body paralysed, including his manhood. The tragic accident, which occurred on June 2005, has devastated the father of four. His condition caused so much tension in the home that he resorted to divorce. He recently sought relief at Otto-Ijanikin Customary Court, asking for the formal dissolution of their 26-year-old marriage. In court, the visibly embittered man narrated, amid uncontrollable tears, the rejection, sojourn and anguish he has gone through in the hands of his wife. He accused his wife of infidelity and lack of care. Recounting how it all began, he said: ‘’I got married to Kashimawo at age of 26, just like every other marriageable man. Although I wouldn’t say our marriage was rosy because there is nothing like a perfect marriage, but we resolved our minor quarrels and fights amicably. I had also noted that my wife was money conscious. She is easily carried away by material things. “Trouble began in 2005 when we both had a road accident on our way to my home town. After the accident, I lost consciousness but was revived days later. I discover that some parts of my body were seriously affected. I couldn’t move my legs and hands. After my discharge from Lagos State Teaching Hospital (LUTH), I was taken to a local bone healer, who also administered her own healing powers on me.” After months of intensive care and bones massage, Sodiq was brought back home. He said that on his return, his wife turned against him, revealing that she became a regular guest of Ada-loko Police Station, Badagry, owing to quarrel with people. http://odili.net/news/source/2011/nov/6/503.html |
Orient Refinery Fully Operational End Of 2012, Says Anyaoku • Targets 2000 Jobs • We’ve Gone Ahead Of Other Private Refineries ORIENT Petroleum Resources (OPR) —Refining and Petrochemicals Ltd, has given the indication that its refinery would be “up and running” by the end of 2012 when the envisaged completion of the refinery installation would have been completed. Giving this assurance, while delivering a speech at the 2011 Annual General Meeting of the company in Awka, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, said this would include the overseas procurement and shipment of long-lead items and on-site fabrication of storage tanks. According to the reverred diplomat, Orient has completed the acquisition process, including the perimeter and topographical surveys of 240 hectares of land at the refinery site in Anambra State and another 21 hectares at Lokoja, Kogi State for stand-alone petroleum products depot expected to serve the central and northern parts of the country. Other activities already concluded include the geotechnical, geological and hydro- geological surveys at the refinery site, site civil engineering works, including clearing, leveling earthworks prior to construction of internal roads, reinforced concrete plinths for installation of refinery equipment and detailed engineering and fabrication. Orient, which has interest in oil and gas exploration, production, petroleum products refining, sales and exports, had, in its notice of AGM 2011 that was sent to its shareholders, disclosed that all works listed above “have been fully paid for, except balance of equipment cost prior to shipment.” Anyaoku confirmed that, all things being equal, the company would, indeed, also begin crude oil production and sales next year. He, however, gave a breakdown of fundamental issues, which have direct or indirect consequence on the company’s performance up to the end of August, 2011. He said after the Federal Government granted Orient the Licence to Establish and the Approval to Construct its 55,000 bpsd refinery in 2002 and 2004, respectively, the company had gone ahead to obtain the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Certificate for its refinery in 2005, and by so doing became the first private refinery in Nigeria to obtain such an EIA Certificate. He disclosed that, to provide additional insurance and security for crude feedstock supply, the Federal Government had granted to Orient on sole risk basis, two oil blocks, OPL 915 & 916, which are very close to the location of their refinery. They have, since receiving the two oil blocks, been conducting the necessary exploration and production work to ensure timely provision of crude feedstock to the refinery. The company decided early in 2011 to fast-track a staged development of its two oil blocks, OPL 915 and OPL 916 by initial completion and production testing of one of the already drilled oil wells and 3D seismic data acquisition. This staged oilfield development is expected to generate cash flow to support the financing and early completion of the refinery, which is a capital-intensive project. Meanwhile, Managing Director of the company, Mr. Nnaemeka Nwawka, an Engineer, told journalists that Orient’s activities had gone way beyond controversy and is ahead of other private refineries reported to have lost their operational licences. He asserted that Orient’s remains valid and intact. Nwawka told The Guardian at the company’s office in Awka that the company’s operations have gone far beyond the level of meeting licensing terms and conditions, and it as the company is already set to commence actual oil and gas production and crude oil export within the next few months, preparatory to the completion of its refinery at the end of 2012. Nwawka stated that when that phase of the company’s operations takes off completely, it would provide hundreds of high networth direct jobs and ancillary services. He commended the supportive efforts and encouragement of the federal ministries of Finance and Petroleum, both of which, he claimed, have shown great understanding. He said the downstream sector is generally desirous of having government’s proposed incentives for private refineries gazetted and implemented as a way of stimulating meaningful activities and programmes. The Orient boss added that the proceeds from the initial sales of the produced oil and gas would provide early cash flow and boost financiers’ confidence to fund the acquisition of the outstanding refinery modules and auxiliary equipment. Still on incentives for effective operations, Anyaoku said government’s economic and structural reform continues with efforts to curb inflation and improve reliability of basic infrastructure, improved expenditure on which he believes the stock of nation’s external reserves is declining. “The price of Nigeria’s Bonny light grade,” he said, “averaged $62.20, $80.90 per barrel, for 2009 and 2010, respectively. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 7.72 per cent in the second quarter of 2011, up from 7.4 per cent recorded in 2010.” The nation’s crude oil production, he stated, stood at around 1.9 million and 2.47 million barrels per day (bpd) by year-end 2009 and 2010 respectively and is expected to increase slightly with the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill currently before the National Assembly. Anyaoku also sees the planned removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government as one of the expected ways to help correct a lot of distortions in the economy, including the pressure on the exchange rate. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=66660:orient-refinery-fully-operational-end-of-2012-says-anyaoku&catid=31:business&Itemid=562 |

Are you considering a divorce?: Please read this extract. “When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said, I’ve got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observed the hurt in her eyes. Suddenly I didn’t know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the topic calmly. She didn’t seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why? I avoided her question. This made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, you are not a man! That night, we didn’t talk to each other. She was weeping. I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage. But I could hardly give her a satisfactory answer; she had lost my heart to Jane. I didn’t love her anymore. I just pitied her! With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement which stated that she could own our house, our car, and 30% stake of my company. She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. The woman who had spent ten years of her life with me had become a stranger. I felt sorry for her wasted time, resources and energy but I could not take back what I had said for I loved Jane so dearly. Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had expected to see. To me her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer now. The next day, I came back home very late and found her writing something at the table. I didn’t have supper but went straight to sleep and fell asleep very fast because I was tired after an eventful day with Jane. When I woke up, she was still there at the table writing. I just did not care so I turned over and was asleep again. In the morning she presented her divorce conditions: she didn’t want anything from me, but needed a month’s notice before the divorce. She requested that in that one month we both struggle to live as normal a life as possible. Her reasons were simple: our son had his exams in a month’s time and she didn’t want to disrupt him with our broken marriage. This was agreeable to me. But she had something more, she asked me to recall how I had carried her into out bridal room on our wedding day. She requested that every day for the month’s duration I carry her out of our bedroom to the front door ever morning. I thought she was going crazy. Just to make our last days together bearable I accepted her odd request. I told Jane about my wife’s divorce conditions. . She laughed loudly and thought it was absurd. No matter what tricks she applies, she has to face the divorce, she said scornfully. My wife and I hadn’t had any body contact since my divorce intention was explicitly expressed. So when I carried her out on the first day, we both appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, daddy is holding mommy in his arms. His words brought me a sense of pain. From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door, I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes and said softly; don’t tell our son about the divorce. I nodded, feeling somewhat upset. I put her down outside the door. She went to wait for the bus to work. I drove alone to the office. On the second day, both of us acted much more easily. She leaned on my chest. I could smell the fragrance of her blouse. I realized that I hadn’t looked at this woman carefully for a long time. I realized she was not young any more. There were fine wrinkles on her face, her hair was graying! Our marriage had taken its toll on her. For a minute I wondered what I had done to her. On the fourth day, when I lifted her up, I felt a sense of intimacy returning. This was the woman who had given ten years of her life to me. On the fifth and sixth day, I realized that our sense of intimacy was growing again. I didn’t tell Jane about this. It became easier to carry her as the month slipped by. Perhaps the everyday workout made me stronger. She was choosing what to wear one morning. She tried on quite a few dresses but could not find a suitable one. Then she sighed, all my dresses have grown bigger. I suddenly realized that she had grown so thin, that was the reason why I could carry her more easily. Suddenly it hit me… she had buried so much pain and bitterness in her heart. Subconsciously I reached out and touched her head. Our son came in at the moment and said, Dad, it’s time to carry mom out. To him, seeing his father carrying his mother out had become an essential part of his life. My wife gestured to our son to come closer and hugged him tightly. I turned my face away because I was afraid I might change my mind at this last minute. I then held her in my arms, walking from the bedroom, through the sitting room, to the hallway. Her hand surrounded my neck softly and naturally. I held her body tightly; it was just like our wedding day. But her much lighter weight made me sad. On the last day, when I held her in my arms I could hardly move a step. Our son had gone to school. I held her tightly and said, I hadn’t noticed that our life lacked intimacy. I drove to office…. jumped out of the car swiftly without locking the door. I was afraid any delay would make me change my mind…I walked upstairs. Jane opened the door and I said to her, Sorry, Jane, I do not want the divorce anymore. She looked at me, astonished, and then touched my forehead. Do you have a fever? She said. I moved her hand off my head. Sorry, Jane, I said, I won’t divorce. My marriage life was boring probably because she and I didn’t value the details of our lives, not because we didn’t love each other anymore. Now I realize that since I carried her into my home on our wedding day I am supposed to hold her until death do us apart. Jane seemed to suddenly wake up. She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears. I walked downstairs and drove away. At the floral shop on the way, I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my wife. The salesgirl asked me what to write on the card. I smiled and wrote, I’ll carry you out every morning until death do us apart. That evening I arrived home, flowers in my hands, a smile on my face, I run up stairs, only to find my wife in the bed - dead. My wife had been fighting CANCER for months and I was so busy with Jane to even notice. She knew that she would die soon and she wanted to save me from the whatever negative reaction from our son, in case we push through with the divorce.— At least, in the eyes of our son—- I’m a loving husband…. The small details of your lives are what really matter in a relationship. It is not the mansion, the car, property, the money in the bank. These create an environment conducive for happiness but cannot give happiness in themselves. So find time to be your spouse’s friend and do those little things for each other that build intimacy. Do have a real happy marriage! If you don’t share this, nothing will happen to you. If you do, you just might save a marriage. Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” |

What is Nikah Mut'ah marriage in Islam?. A marriage that they know the divorce date during the inception, abi?. Muslims who travel out of state from their wives are given the opportunity of marrying temporary wives in wherever they are staying until the end of their stay there. Muhammad believes that such practice will stop muslim men from patronizing proostitutes. Since a fixed payment is made to the woman during the duration of her contract as a wannabe wife, isn't that a form of legalizing prostitution in Islam? |
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger as saying: By Him in Whose Hand is my life, when a man calls his wife to his bed, and she does not respond, the One Who is in the heaven is displeased with her until he (her husband) is pleased with her. Sahih Muslim, Book 008, Number 3367:Is this how women are treated in Islam?. 5ex slaves?. The men not only have bootie buffet but threaten the women with curses from Allah if any of them refuses to service them when needed. |

Fayemi’s one year is a waste - Akinyemi Honourable Femi Akinyemi, a former Speaker of the Old Ondo State House of Assembly was the Ekiti State Coordinator of the Goodluck/Sambo Presidential Campaign Organisation. Two weeks ago, he convened a group called Goodluck/Sambo Alliance (GSA). In this interview with Charles Akinsete, he speaks on the reason the group was formed and the one year of the Dr Kayode Fayemi-led Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) government in the state. IT was reported in the media that you just set up a group called Goodluck Sambo Alliance (GSA), what is the idea behind it? Well, you must be aware of how committed we were to the emergence of President Goodluck Jonathan, first as the candidate of our party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and later the president of the country, in an election adjudged as the freest and fairest in the history of elections in Nigeria. Having therefore laboured to secure victory for the president and his deputy, Architect Namadi Sambo, it will be unwise for us to simply go to sleep. But you can’t be campaigning after election, We are not talking about campaigning for votes; that is far from the reason we decided to bring our people who worked in the 16 local councils and 177 wards in the state together. These people were the ones who laboured day and night to secure victory for the PDP in the presidential election here in Ekiti and there must be a meeting point where their feelings and that of the electorate will be collated for necessary actions. Also, the masses must be constantly educated on the programmes of the President Jonathan and Vice-President Sambo-led Federal Government. Besides, politics in Nigeria has become so dynamic such that it is no longer enough for politicians to campaign for elections and go to sleep after winning or losing the polls. Don’t you think this can be misconstrued to mean that you are forming a parallel group in the state PDP? Thank you for that question. First and foremost, those of us in the GSA are people who were members of the Goodluck Support Group (GSG) and Goodluck/Sambo Campaign Organisation in Ekiti State. No one could have belonged to those two organisations then, without first being a PDP member. So, we are all loyal members of the PDP and will remain so. Rather than constitute a parallel body to the PDP in the state, we are out to further promote the party because our members have already been mandated to begin to see themselves and act as ambassadors of the party, our president and his deputy in their respective council areas and wards. It is now their responsibilities to make sure that our people at the grass roots are adequately educated on the Federal Government programmes and plans, so as to avoid misinformation, which you know is the trademark of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). For instance, the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) rehabilitated the Ado-Iyin-Igede-Aramoko-Erio Road recently and before we knew what was happening, the ACN people were already claiming that their government did it. It is now one year since the PDP lost Ekiti State to the ACN, what is your assessment of the state before, and one year after? If I say anything now, some people are likely to say ‘he is a PDP man, what do you expect him to say?’ But you can go to the streets, especially in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, and talk to the ordinary people. Move round the state capital on an okada or a taxi and listen to what the people say about the ACN-led government in the state. Like our people would say; “won ti gbe epo wo, won ti gbe omi wo, won ti mo eyi to wuwo ju.” (They have carried both water and palm oil and now know which is heavier). So it is not a matter of me just sitting here to assess the Ekiti government; it is what the people are saying now that really matters. So, it is clear to the people that the ACN-led government has nothing to offer, except creating problems for the people. Or is it the people, whose houses and shops were demolished without provision of any alternative settlement or compensation for them that won’t be angry? Is it the over 5,000 sacked local council workers and their families, the sacked permanent secretaries, local council directors of administration and treasurers that will be happy with the ACN-led government? Is it the workers, who are now being heavily taxed to the tune of over 300 per cent, and are made to pay two months tax in arrears, such that most workers now have to bring money from their homes to be able to balance up the deductions, that will carry samba and tambourine and be singing praises of Fayemi? Or probably the health workers that have been on strike for over three months and those who are dying because of the strike will be rejoicing that Fayemi is doing wonders in Ekiti? Fayemi’s one year of failed promises is glaring to Ekiti people, and that is a fact. But the governor listed several projects as his one year achievements, I saw the advert placed in some newspapers, where the governor listed five roads; Ijero-Ikoro-Okemesi, New Iyin-NTA-Ilawe bye-pass, Igede-Ilawe, Ayede-Gede-Omu and Ilawe-Erinjiyan, as the roads his government completed under one year. These roads were completed and were already in use more than six months before Fayemi became governor. Even projects that were yet to be completed were commissioned. That is the level to which the ACN-led government in Ekiti has taken deceit to. But one thing that gladdens our hearts is that Ekiti people cannot be deceived. They know what was on ground in the state before Fayemi got his judicial victory, and have now realised that they have been conned by the ACN-led government. Look at education, which Fayemi promised would be free from primary to secondary schools; one year after, is education now freer in Ekiti than it was under the PDP government? Are our schools better than it was left by the PDP government? Today, students of the 22 boarding schools in the state that were paying N10,500 as tuition fees per term now pay more than N20,000. Textbooks are now being paid for and buying of desks by students, which had been eradicated before Fayemi assumed office, has also returned, with new students being asked to pay over N7, 000 or bring desks from their homes. http://www.ekiti.com/ekitinews/display_search.php?news_id=105634 |
2011 Osun Osogbo: Priests, Traditional Chiefs, Desert Palace, Fail To Perform Rituals Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Thursday, recorded unprecedented development in the traditional history of the ancient town, as priests and traditional chieftains failed to perform some major annual rituals in preparation for this year’s Osun Osogbo festival. Investigation revealed that the priests and traditional chieftains have deserted the Ataoja of Osogbo’s palace and went to the residence of Araba Awo of Osogboland, Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon, to perform some rituals, which were supposed to be done at the palace. Finding showed that a popular traditional ritual called Iyere, which was supposed to be performed at the family house of the Ataoja of Osogbo, was not performed by the priests and traditional chiefs. Further investigation revealed that the priests and traditional chiefs have reportedly parted ways with the deposed Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Oyetunji, whose nomination and installation were nullified by two state high courts recently. The priests and traditional chiefs, according to inside sources, are currently cautioning themselves from going against the court ruling, as performing the annual rituals at the palace for Olanipekun would amount to contempt of court. Only Oyetunji’s wives came out to perform the Iyere ritual with heavy security operatives across the streets. Traditionally, the Iyere ritual is always performed by the Ataoja of Osogbo, the priests, traditional chiefs and indigenes of the ancient town, who would accompany the monarch to his family house in preparation for the Osun Osogbo festival. http://www.osunstate.gov.ng/index.php/23-editorials-editorials/137-2011-osun-osogbo-priests-traditional-chiefs-desert-palace-fail-to-perform-rituals.html |
aurenflani:At least you absolved Christianity from complicity. It means that some of the people who claim to be Christians promote iniquity just like some muslims like Abacha, Abiola, Tafa Balogun, Arisekola Alao, Adedibu, etc promoted iniquity in Nigeria even though they are/were staunch muslims. So why blame Christianity because of the iniquities of hypocrites?. |

I hear these two, Banky W and Tinsel actress Damilola Adegbite aren't dating but they went to the Ice Prince Album Launch together holding hands, like a couple in love. The press had a field day speculating that they are dating, when they are not, but then can you blame the press? So I want to know your opinion on this. Should two celebs who are not dating be very affectionate in public? I don't think it's a big deal, It's something I can do without any hesitation but some people think it's not proper.
