He’s one of the playboys of Nollywood who hit limelight some years ago, but didn’t become a movie star until a few years back, and that was after his dream to make a career in music was dashed. Known for his mean and unperturbed roles, Benedict Johnson, in this encounter, raises alarm concerning the lustful attitude of his female fans, who, according to him, disturb him by calling him at odd hours, without minding whether his wife is with him or not.

How has it been a movie star?
It’s been great. I have done a couple of wonderful jobs in recent times. Generally, life has been very good. So far, so good. The journey has been interesting.
Would you say you’ve have impacted immeasuarbly on the industry since you were launched into the mainstream movie world?
Yeah, I have made a lot of impact in the industry. At least, I have affected a lot of lives positively. I have done a couple of good jobs which affected a lot of people’s lives both in Nigeria and outside the shores of this country. Today, Benedict Johnson has become a household name in the industry.
Why did you choose acting?


What gives one joy is a calling. Many people miss the mark because they refuse to follow the dictates of their hearts. To me, I followed what makes me happy which is entertainment. From my childhood, when I was 12 years old, I composed music in addition to anchoring notable events for people as MC.
As a matter of fact, I paid half of my school fees with such monies I realised from the MC job. So, I have always wanted to be in the entertainment business, not just acting.
I started out with music, and I thought I was going to be one of the top music stars in this country, because I did a lot of good jobs in those days as far back as 1992/93. But I wasn’t able to release my own album because of some circumstances beyond my control. Some how, I found myself in the movie industry. But it was still in line with what I wanted to do in life, and as a result, I decided to grab it with hands. Here I am today.
You started out with music?


Yes, I started out with music. I have some tracks which I did in those days. I wonder if those tracks will be accepted by today’s market. But I have got a younger brother who has followed my footsteps and he’s doing a very great job in music.
He has released his album, which is very fantastic. I’m trying to concentrate on him at the moment, since I have made my mark in the movie industry. I want to encourage him on the other side of entertainment which is music.
What happened to you as musician?
Fund!. At a time, it was difficult raising the fund to go to studio to record my album. I couldn’t fund my career in music. Those who promised to assist me disappointed me along the line. So, I decided to take up the option of becoming a movie star when the opportunity eventually came my way. To God be the glory, that decision has paid off.
How did you grab the option?


A friend of mine who believed in me, while we were in the university, introduced me to the industry. He used to have a friend also, who was into movie making. The guy was shooting his movie, and there was this need for that my friend to invite me to be part of that movie.

Real Madrid will unveil Jose Mourinho as their new manager on Monday after agreeing compensation with Inter Milan.
Club presidents Massimo Moratti and Florentino Perez met in Milan on Friday to thrash out a deal to allow Mourinho to quit the Champions League winners.
Mourinho, 47, will replace Manuel Pellegrini in the Madrid hotseat after the Chilean was sacked on Wednesday.

Spanish and Italian media reported Inter would receive about 8m euros (£6.7m) under the terms of his deal.
Inter had claimed they were due £13.5m in compensation for Mourinho, whose contract was due to run until 2012.
A Real Madrid statement said: "The agreement took place following a meeting between Inter Milan President Massimo Moratti and Real Madrid President Florentino Perez in Milan.


"The meeting was friendly and cordial, as befits the relationship between both clubs."
It added that Mourinho will be presented as Real's new coach in the press room of the Bernabeu Stadium on Monday afternoon.
Mourinho, who took over at the San Siro in 2008, became only the third man to win European club football's most prestigious competition with two different clubs when Inter beat Bayern Munich 2-0 in Saturday's Champions League final.

“If he wants to have sex with me at night and I tell him I am tired, he will beat me, saying I have had enough outside. On one occasion, he beat me to the extent that I was hospitalised for three days.”


These were the words of an embattled petty trader, Mrs. Juliet Asia, who has asked an Ojo Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Lagos to dissolve her marriage to her husband, Monday Asia, whom she claimed had turned her into a punching bag because of his incessant demand for sex and allegation of infidelity.
The mother of four told the court that her husband often accused her of having extra marital affairs with her project supervisor in school and the owner of the school where she worked, adding that her husband even threatened her supervisor and his action earned her an extra year.


She claimed that her husband’s attitude caused her father’s high blood pressure and that he eventually died.
Narrating how they met, she explained: “I met him when my mother left my siblings and I and there was nobody to take care of us. I was 16 years then and he promised to take care of me. One year into the relationship, I became pregnant. Four months after I had my first son, he left me and travelled to Edo State.
“When my mother knew about my situation, she came back, took the baby from me and appealed to me to go back to school and complete my education.
”Seven years later, he came back to beg for forgiveness. I forgave him and took him to my parents. They also forgave him and asked me to go with him.
“Immediately I became pregnant again, I went to my parents so that I can be given adequate care. When my baby was two month and 28 days old, I joined my husband in Benin, only to discover he was married to another woman.


”The woman refused me entry into the house, saying I came to displace her. Even when she finally allowed me in, I was restricted in the house,” she claimed.
She also alleged that during her stay in Benin, armed robbers attacked their house but that she suspected that the incident was a set up because she was the only one robbed.

She said she left Benin for her parents’ house after the incident because she was afraid for her life, as the robbers almost killed her child.
“After the incident, I became so afraid and told my husband I wanted to go back to Lagos. He gave me only N1,500. My parents were angry that he gave me just N1,500, so they stopped me from going to see him.


“My mother took over the baby from me and I went back to my former office. Six years later, he came back begging again and blamed his action on his own father. But my father insisted he brought his father and pay my bride price before I could go with him again.


“He didn’t have money, so, I assisted him from my savings. The marriage took place in March 2001. He paid only N3,500 as bride price while I did all other things. After that, he joined me in Lagos. I rented a room and parlour apartment so we could feel comfortable because I was staying in a room apartment.
“Then I had my third and fourth babies for him within five years. He later told me he needed a job and he didn’t want to work for anyone. I withdrew the money in my account and bought a car for him so he could use it for transport business.

UK sees shift in migration trend

More European migrants, from countries including Poland and the Czech Republic, are leaving the UK than arriving, Home Office figures show.

It marks a reversal in movement for the first time since large-scale immigration in Europe began.

In all, there were 45,000 arrivals of A8 nationals in 2009, compared with 57,000 departures.

A8, or accession eight, refers to the central and eastern European countries that acceded to the EU in 2004.

They include Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia.

Overall, the UK's net migration figure - the number of immigrants minus numbers emigrating - for the 12 months ending in September 2009 was 142,000, down from 160,000 for the same period the previous year.

The data comes from the International Passenger Survey of long-term international migration, considered a broad guide to migration movements.

However, it does not take into account adjustments for asylum seekers, people who stay longer or less than intended, and migration to and from Northern Ireland.

Immigration cap
The figures also show the number of people granted British citizenship last year is at its highest level since 2005.

In 2009, 203,790 people were given citizenship, up 59% from 129,375 the previous year.

There was also a 40% increase in the numbers given grants of settlement in the UK and a 45% rise in those allowed to settle for employment reasons.

Other figures from the Home Office showed that nearly a third of foreigners wanting to make Britain their home had failed to pass their citizenship test.

The 45-minute test on British society, history and culture is a crucial step on the road to being allowed to settle permanently or full citizenship.

The new government has committed itself to introducing a cap on non-EU immigration, although the level has yet to be set.

Immigration minister Damian Green said the figures illustrated the scale of the immigration challenge facing the new government.

"I believe that immigration has been far too high in recent years which is why we will reduce net migration back down to the levels of the 1990s - to tens of thousands rather than hundreds of thousands," he said.

New measures including a limit on work permits, actions on marriage and an effective system of regulating students who come to the UK would be introduced, he added.

Enough is enough: Strangers attack dad for tying son up in chains.

One Chinese dad can forget about getting a Father's Day card after chaining his 8-year-old son to a pole and trying to auction him to strangers on the street in the central Chinese city of Wuhan.

Yong Tsui tried to peddle Yong Fai, touting the boy's strong work ethic.

Police did nothing until passersby grew irate and assaulted the dad after people expressing interest in Fai asked how much they would need to spend on the boy.

"He has no job, no home and no money," one sympathetic officer said of the dad, the Daily Mail reports. "He says he wasn't interested in the money, just finding a home for the boy."

The scared boy told police his father said he could no longer afford to raise him.

Yong Tsui said he chained his son after learning about a similar situation in China where a chained-up 2-year-old boy got free day care after generous strangers learned of his plight.

For now, the boy remains in the custody of the police.

The truth is we do not want to face the real reality and gravity of the calamity that be-fail Kwarans, we are just paying a lip service to the whole issue. the issuance of this FATWA at this point and time is un-call for, why didn't they issue it 2007 if really they know what justice represent in the face of ALLAH.

Does it matter when it was issued?. What matters is the fact that women are still seen as goats incapable of leading humans in Islam. Whatever a man can do, a woman can also do if not better. By 2020, there will must be at least one female who will be the  current Oba of Lagos, Olu of Warri, Alaafin of Oyo, Obi of Onitsha, Sarduana of Sokoto or Oba of Benin. Nigerian men should learn to deal with it.
