SlyfoxxDaBoss: Okay. If you were not the one and I falsely accused you then I apologize. And I won’t repeat it again.
You see. It’s not so hard. I’m not dead.
Now tell 1stGenAmerican and IjeBos to apologize to me for the unprovoked insults they initially hurled at me otherwise this trolling may never stop lol. The insults you hurled back at 1stGenAmerican in that screenshot were an overkill, an attack on her parentage which is wrong!... Way more than whatever she said which is much milder.
And she was defending the POTUS, Joe Biden who you refered to as a "senile old dunce" in the earlier post before you took the screenshot. How does what she said diminish you as a person since June 2022? Ronu (Think). Let it rest! |

SlyfoxxDaBoss: I get it now. So it was you who created that account to post that rubbish about me downloading matriculation picture then deleted the account like the coward you are because you knew I was coming back with more receipts right?
Hahahahha. You thought I won’t figure it out. That’s why you keep redirecting people to the post. The person even uses similar words as you.
Okay since you want to play this game fool; send me an email address. I will email you my full (redacted) transcript and certificate so you can see and shut up once and for all. I no longer want to publicly post my information on this forum filled with all kinds of degenerates and scammers like IjeBos.
Heheh you people just can’t accept that not everyone playing with you here is your mate. Your stupid girlfriend 1stGenAmerican and others asked me if I have ever traveled out of Nigeria before. Now that I have embarrassed them with countless passports, visa’s, stamps and my Swiss residence card, they have moved on to I downloaded matriculation picture online. Okay, let me finally embarrass you on that point because again I know you are the fool that made that post with a now deleted account. Bloody coward.
Why don’t you be a man and face me with whatever accusation you want to make with your full chest? Liberal men are always so weak. It’s Pathetic. Hey! You owe me an apology for making misleading accusations twice... even right up till today. I NEVER wanted to reply you but I have to, so that folks here will NOT get misled by the falsehoods in what you posted. I have a younger brother who has a Ph.D., and he is the last born among my siblings. He is older than you are but you will never see him spread insults and defamation like you have done here. It is a pity that you are a Yoruba boy. Read on... Just to be clear, because I don't want you repeating this trash accusations again. Today, you repeated the false accusation of me being the moniker that was deactivated by someone because of the person's style of writing. There are a few folks on NL who write and speak English with lucidity and great fluency. I spotted major differences in my writing style with that deactivated moniker... I usually write Web with capital letter "W", but this person with a deactivated moniker used small letter "w" to write web! I saw where you posted that you were tipsy yesterday, so I let it slide. Today you unwisely repeated the same trash while using vulgar words... I have to respond. I never doubted from the first day I chatted on this same thread with you on August 21, 2022, that you have some form of foreign exposure. You gave me your word that you would stop all this derailing, defaming and trolling of our delectable resident U.S. attorney and other good folks here. There were 4 of us who quoted that guy who made observations about you, then deactivated. I find it deeply offensive that you are accusing me of creating an NL moniker to upload stuff. If I have to do a CRITICISM of you or anyone, I would do it with my user name that I'm using now or my older NL monikers from the year 2005. I have called you out before because you were derailing convos here. I have a lot of important things to do with my daily schedule as a well-travelled man and investor than to be creating multiple NL monikers for trolling, then deactivating. It is kids or "adult boys" who have enough time on their hands that would do that. Period. |

Family › Re: Wall Gecko Wipes Out Family Of Six In Ogun State by AlphaTaikun: 1:01pm On Dec 04, 2022 |
ibechris: Full Text A viral message surfaced on WhatsApp urging Nigerians to put a mixture of salt and garlic in the corners of their rooms to eradicate wall gecko, with the story that a wall gecko fell into a pot of soup prepared by a housewife in Nigeria unknown to her and killed the woman and her nine children after eating the soup.
It reads, “Slippery House Lizard known as Wall Gecko also called Omonle in Yoruba fell into a pot of soup prepared by a housewife in Nigeria unknowingly and it killed the woman and her 9 children after eating.
“Another woman who prepared Tea in a kettle which the gecko fell into, all the family that drank the tea died.
“Please ensure your food, cooked or raw is tightly closed as this animal is highly poisonous, it also goes with “aljanus” (jinns) – verifiable.
Therefore do everything possible to get rid of this dangerous animal from your home.”
The claim particularly notes that “the reptile goes with jinns and it’s highly poisonous and it is verifiable.” Dubawa opted to verify the authenticity of this claim.
Verification A keyword search revealed that the claim has been in circulation since 2017, as a news item in Nigeria, the Sun Newspaper categorically alerted Nigerians to kill wall geckos because investigation has shown that the reptile is harmful.
The newspaper warned vividly: “Ordinarily, the skin of the gecko is highly poisonous…To eradicate it in your home, just mix salt and garlic and put mixture in different corners of your room. You will never see them again.”
A response on 9 May 2018 from Udonsi Eke on Nature Cures Initiative Facebook post questioned the credibility of the claim “But I remember eating a wall gecko that was roasted just to make me stop bedwetting in my childhood days. So is this information true?” Are wall geckos truly harmful? Animal diversity website describes a wall gecko as a tree-living terrestrial species, living in human-populated areas. A reptile that originated from Southeast Asia but is currently found almost everywhere across the globe. It says wall geckos occur on buildings, mostly near artificial lighting because they are nocturnal insectivores.
With the simple description of this uninvolved reptile that feeds mainly on insects, Dubawa felt the urge to get the thought of an expert, Mrs. Emudiare Tailobi, a zoologist from the University of Jos.
“Wall geckos aren’t venomous, that’s a fact,” Mrs. Emudiare said over the phone, adding that although they can carry some harmful bacteria in their mouths that are detrimental to human health, the reptile is naturally harmless.
Mrs. Tialobi explained that “Wall geckos are not toxic, but they may have picked up harmful bacterias that in large amounts can cause harm to humans.”
Dubawa went further to get more insight from a biologist, Mrs. Nanchin Winifred Kazeh from Leventis Ornithological Research Institute (APLORI) Jos-east Laminga via WhatsApp, and she affirmed that wall geckos are not poisonous Is it true that the salt and garlic mixture can eradicate wall geckos? A conversation with a biologist/ornithologist, Nanchin Winifred Kazeh of A. P. Leventis Ornithological Research Institute (APLORI), Jos-east on WhatsApp revealed that the smell of garlic and salt mixture wards off wall geckos.
Mrs. Kazeh said that wall geckos feed on insects such as lizards, nectars, and spiders. And since light attracts insects, wall geckos are found on buildings with artificial lighting, as it helps them spot their prey easily.
“The wall geckos play a very important role in balancing the ecosystem. Yes, their appearance scares most people, but all the protective measures put up by humans only aid the reptile to adapt well to the environment. Wall geckos are important and useful to humans,” Kazeh added.
While urging Nigerians to dismiss outrageous claims, and instead learn to read properly, know the source, and ask appropriate questions, the ornithologist outlined two fun facts which include:
Conservationist fun facts 1. Did you know that natural or human disturbances have resulted in more eggs being laid by the wall geckos?
Implication; the more we disturb them with our garlic and salt mixtures and try to kill them, the more they multiply
2. Did you know that female wall geckos can store sperm for up to a year? This is a trait that likely aids the species’ transportability and invasion success.
Conclusion Verification has shown that wall geckos are not poisonous as contained in a viral WhatsApp message; instead, they play an important role in balancing the ecosystem. Even though the garlic and salt mixture can scare wall geckos, it will only increase its production.

Romance › Re: Good Morning, Advice Needed. by AlphaTaikun: 8:44pm On Dec 03, 2022*. Modified: 11:47am On Dec 04, 2022 |
Angiewhite: Good morning everyone ! Pls I have an issue bothering me and I haven’t slept for days, I need advice please. I’m a 30yrs old lady who is dating a guy of 35yrs old that’s the only child of his mother, his parents has separated since he was young and the mother later remarried but got divorced, the mother has been trying to have another child ever since then but she couldn’t. When we met after talking for some weeks he suddenly ghosted me for two years for no reason, no quarrel no nothing! He just stopped talking to me. Then after two years he resurfaced and started disturbing me again that he wants to settle down with me, since I had no one I was dating I accepted, he told me he had always wanted someone who he’s at least 10yrs older than so the person can respect him but since he likes me he doesn’t mind the age difference between us,I was surprised one day when after a little argument on phone over something that will actually favour him when he started yelling saying “ this is why he doesn’t like dating ladies who are 28,29,30 or 31” that they will be pressuring him for marriage that to be honest with me what he told me about dating someone he’s 10yrs Older than is not because of respect but so that by the time he’ll be ready for marriage the lady too will be ready that for example the girl his mother introduced him too is just 23yrs old and currently doing her NYSC and by the time she finish and ready for marriage he’ll be ready too” , I’m surprised at all these because I’ve never pestered him for marriage before even when he ghosted me for no reason I never asked why. I think the reason for such decision is because he once told me even up till now he’s mother who’s in her late 50’s is still trying to have a child, and that he had decided not to get married until his mother has another child because his mother will be lonely if he gets married but since time is going and his mother can’t conceive yet that’s why he has now decided to marry . The following day he apologized, so I observed he has anger issue, he gets angry easily a lot and usually say a lot of mean and hurtful things after which he will start apologizing that he doesn’t mean any of what he said. He’s also a talkative, he talks a lot and he usually tell his mother EVERYTHING WE DISCUSS, at first I had no issue with that because since he’s the only child so I feel like he’s the only one the mother talks to, but there’s no privacy in the relationship at all! I mean even things that are meant to be between us he divulge everything to his mother. He also told me that immediately after we get married his mother is going to move in with us because she will be lonely, he didn’t say when she gets old and maybe needs someone to take care of her , he said IMMEDIATELY after our wedding meaning it’s me and his mom who will move in with him at the same time. As if that’s not enough we planned how he’s going to take me to his father to introduce me to his father and his relative , we’ve planned everything and I’ve even bought things I will take for his grandmother only for him to inform me that his mother said he shouldn’t take me there yet so he cancelled the whole thing, I was surprised but not hurt I felt his mum knows better. But the one that happened now that has been giving me sleepless night and I’ve cried my eyes out , he called me some weeks back to inform my family that he wants to come with his people for introduction, which I did , only for him to come back again and tell me to inform them again that he’s not coming because his mother said it’s not yet time that when it’s time they will come and do it for him on his behalf, it really pained me because I’m an orphan and I had to call all my family members together I did a lot of traveling to pass his information across to them , so me now going back again to inform them sounds like I’m unserious and just messing with them and these are elderly people for God sake! I actually did that since he insisted that’s what his mother said, it really pained me and I cried and cried, he’s been telling me since then not to worry that when it’s time he’s sure according to what his mum said they will come and help him to do the introduction. Please advice me I’m tired, I really love this guy but this is getting too much, I would have said maybe his mother doesn’t want him to marry me but his mother talks to me everyday. I’m not desperate at all and I’ve already decided before I even met him that if by 35 I’m not married I will adopt and live my life since I’m doing well for myself, so It’s not like I’m desperate. Please has this happened to anyone before? I even overheard him on phone with his mother one day his mother was telling him not to over show me that he loves me that he shouldn’t love me too much I was surprised because this is same woman who talks to me everyday. Who has gone through this before or who has the slightest idea of what is happening? This evil 35-year-old you call a bf is manipulating you! If a man over 30 or over 40 is ready to get married, you will see the strong signs of him taking the lead! This boy is using you and will dump you soon for another girl. The signs are there for all to see but since you say you "love" him you can't think clearly yet. Cut your losses and run. Period. Take care. |

Jjssv003: Many miss the point here:
1. There are plans for The fourth mainland bridge, another coastal highway which will link Victoria Island to the Lekki Deep Sea port and beyond up to Ondo state — This is unofficial but expected to further ease the use of the Lekki-Epe expressway. Let’s not forget that cargoes will still be moved by sea from the port enroute the ocean to ports like Port-harcourt and Apapa. It is visionary.
2. For the announcement, it is probably a strategic move in Investing. Now that the port is launched, investors who want to collaborate with the state government in PPP would see it as an opportunity, Lagos isn’t going to commit all the funds estimated for the project here. Investors mostly will.
Facts straight. |

Brendaniel: It looks like a boil, from my observation in the picture, you look like someone who has a sensitive skin, boil most times occur from 2 sources, internally or externally through infection or in some cases, excess oil(pimple lump), this one looks like an infection due the speed of the growth, I've had a similar one over night, and it might keep getting bigger and very painful.
Solution:
1. Get ampicilin, take 1 in the morning and 1 at night till you finish the sachet. 2. Get a strong anti-bacteria cream from the chemist and rub daily till you begin to see it go down.
Note : this is what I did for mine, I've experienced it like twice. But you can still visit the chemist to help you proper.
To prevent future occurrence, get spirit or detol, anytime you have a cut around your face or private part, apply them immediately, those are the major areas the infection gets its way, I heard people with blood type O suffer from it more, don't know how true... |

spearman: New York Times: The Biafran Minorities It had been Biafra's non‐Ibo minority that suffered most.
Several things must not go unnoticed by a world horrified at the Nigerian tragedy and baffled by its complexities. At the showdown, Colonel Effiong, one of the few non‐Ibos in Biafra's top echelon, was left to cope with the collapse and preside over the liquidation of the secessionist effort. Nor should the world overlook that part of Colonel Effiong's surrender broadcast that said: “Our people are disillusioned and those elements of the old regime that made negotiations and reconciliation impossible have removed themselves voluntarily from our midst.”
The fact is that some Biafran leaders had long desired to negotiate for some form of Nigerian reunification under Organization of African Unity auspices rather than persevere with a hopeless secessionist struggle at appalling human cost. But these men never prevailed over the Ibo hawks who always had their way with General Ojukwu and now, judging from Colonel Effiong's remark, have presumably fled abroad with him.
Another fact which General Ojukwu inadvertently dramatized in leaving the final responsibility on Col nel Effiong is that at least until the last stages of the thirty‐month war it had been Biafra's non‐Ibo minority that suffered most. The attitude of these five million—forty per cent of Biafra's original population —toward secession was always questionable.
Many of them never wanted an independent Biafra, having resented Ibo domination in Nigeria's former Eastern Region for many years. Some of the minorities suffered savage reprisals at Ibo hands for refusing to leave their homes and accompany the retreating Biafran troops. They made up the vast majority in Biafra's refugee camps as the secessionist enclave was reduced to the Ibo heartland. It may seem unkind to recall these things at the moment of Biafra's collapse after a tremendous struggle against overwhelming odds. But the record of Biafra's agony must be kept straight even at a time when the world's attention is rightly concentrated on alleviating the suffering and restoring peace.

We Akwaibomites have our reservations about them if it's actualized and we're in the map because they may bully us and take over the few oyel resources in the state. Even in the current Nigeria, how many people from AKS and CRS are major players in the oil industry. We have our issues when it comes to individual aspiration but if the secession happens I see us being marginalized. You are very correct! The brutal atrocities and killings of the Old Eastern Region ethnic minorities from 1967 by overzealous Ibo soldiers are well documented. This is the main reason secession was rejected by 99.99% of all the ethnic minorities who were over 5 million in population as of 1967 because there was NO referendum and 2 new states (out of 12 new states) had already been created on May 27, 1967 by the General Yakubu Gowon government. There is a well documented gang rape and impregnation of some Edo women who where living in Iboland as of May 30, 1967 when Ojukwu declared secession, and these women's horrid stories can be read online via a PDF download which details out the atrocities on ethnic minorities pre-Nigerian Civil War and during the war. If he can reach out to the man who first started the commercial aquaculture business in Nigeria in the 1990s by the name of Mr. Israel Adediran (a.k.a Mr. Fish) in Lagos, then he will fix the problem by supplying the water device. He was the first person to import the portable water device into Nigeria from Singapore back in 2008 to stop the death of aquatic life. Google his name now to get his direct phone numbers and call. I wish your senior citizen relative the very best in retirement. Cheers. |
Family › Re: What Business Can A Man In His 60s Do by AlphaTaikun: 5:46pm On Dec 02, 2022 |
Esthered: Good morning Fam,
I have a relation who lost his means of income (white collar job) over 5 years ago. He has tried his hands in catfish farming to no avail after not breaking even in rearing to maturity and selling. He also tried backward integration in the Value chain of catfish farming by going into hatchery but yet to break even till date. He's about to dispose a land to invest in this catfish hatchery and I don't forsee him making profit.
Please what do you think a man of that age can do as his children are graduates trying to find their feet and not dependent on him. |
Food › Re: What Adjustments Have You Made To Cope With The Rising Inflation (Pictures) by AlphaTaikun: 5:00pm On Dec 02, 2022 |
ADUKKY: A lot of changes.
1. I added a small business to my 9 to 5 job.
2. I buy in bulk and ensure I go to the cheapest market around me, ile epo. No shopping on the street.
3. I also cook beans in bulk.
4. Pressure cooker for most food except spag. Saves gas, beans is cooked in less than 20 mins while rice is less than 10 mins
5. I make pap and nourish it with ginger and cinnamon. I don't sieve my pap so no room for wastage only that it cost me additional 100 naira when blending it. All grains and blending cost me 2,000 early August and I still have over 4 litrs left for September.
6. I plan changing my line to post paid. Hubby pays 5k for calls, data and sms and it lasts for a month while I spend over 10k on data and calls. My job and business requires that I am online always.
7. No eating out except on few occasions
8. Potatoes to the rescue anytime yam moves mad
9. No wasting of food no matter how small. I pack and freeze it for future need
10. I don comot hand for titus. I do mostly shawa(I know it has bones but once you airfry it, even the bone becomes chewable), gizzard (1 pack lasts 2 weeks) and chicken for sundays.
11. Switched to measured unbranded cereals like oats, milk, cocopops, cornflakes, fruit and fibre etc. That's my side hustle anyway. I was sceptical about the unbranded at first but as I do my investigation and got a good supplier, it has been a life saver. I eventually turned it to my side hustle and I supply mostly bank staff and office people. 12. Every month end, I carefully go through my kitchen to identify what is needed and what can still be managed and draw up a list. Na me and my list dey go market, anything not covered in that list doesn't follow me back home expect it is very important. No impulsive buying.
I do esusu too, compulsory saving so no room for laulau. It has helped me a lot. I pull the esusu out of my monthly income before spending a dime, whatever is left must be well managed. You are wise and business savvy... Nigerians are very good when it come to adjusting to fluctuations in inflation as can be seen on this thread. Lol |

dmostcheerful: I cook soup and dish in small portions into the fridge, if I warm and dish and it wasn't enough for you, you keep your garri next time you can continue.
Since we use unmetered electricity we use more of electrical stove to gas.
As for baby milk, I make loads of soya beans grounded with crayfish add to the milk to make it more tasty and more nutritious. We use to buy one tin of baby milk every week but now, 3weeks one milk.
As for adult milk, I buy milk and chocolate in rolls, 2sachets of milk and 2 sachets of tea per person any morning we will have tea for breakfast. Initially, if you leave milk and tea in tins for my husband he will scope 3 to 4 spoons each. Ask him for money to refill he will be the person asking you what happened. Time no dey. This are the little little adjustment I have made so far. In the absence of infant formula, creativity sets in. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Salary Earners- What Is The Highest Amount A Salary Job Has Paid You. by AlphaTaikun: 2:33pm On Dec 02, 2022 |
Aparche: To get remote job, you need the following:
1) A skill: what service(s) can you offer? Example: graphic design, web design/development, UI/UX design, 3D-animation, social media management, data entry, lead generation, copy/content writing, proof reading/editing, transcription, appointment setting, Admin Assistantetc...there are so many services you can render.
If you don't have any skill, I'll advise you to choose one based on your interest & the need for it in the market and learn it.
2) A Laptop: the type you should get depends on the skill...if you're into programming or 3d animation, & maybe graphic design you need a higher grade laptop than if you're into writing.
3)High speed Internet: You can buy a modem, use wifi, etc whatever works for you.
4) Dedicated work space in your home/room: basically comfortable table & chair, so you don't develop back pain.
After getting all these things, you can then do the following:
5) Sign up to Freelance Marketplaces such as Upwork, Fiverr, People Per Hour, Freelancer...there are so many of them.
6) You can focus on any two of these...set up your profile and optimize. And be truthful while at it...if you're from Nigeria, state that as your Country and use your real name...
7) Start sending proposals on these platforms everyday...send as many as you can, it's a game of numbers.
It won't be easy initially because you're just starting out, but if you're consistent you will get clients.
And most times, if you do a great job for them, they will keep coming back to patronize you...some may even beg ask you to become a permanent team member and offer you a salary.
Also on some of these platforms, you'll see some agencies or businesses advertising for positions... if you apply and get the job, you don get guaranteed long term remote job be that.
7) For payment: Most of these marketplaces have escrow services, which means your client pays money to them, they take their share and give you the rest...you can link your local bank account to receive your funds. You can open a Payoneer account, you can open a domiciliary account etc...there are so many you can get your money.
Finally, anyone can do remote work... it's not for a special group of people.
Just set your mind on it, and gradually it will start falling into place. Insightful. |

pocohantas: It was exactly November 2nd, 2021, I was cruising around Nairaland and I saw THIS COMMENT by a female Nairalander. How's it going Poco? An insightful thread. As a business founder/CEO myself, your posts made reference to empathy towards members of the remote workforce and a good salary plan, and that resonated with me because those are some of the elements needed to increase productivity. It is only a boss who has "emotional intelligence" that can show empathy to members of staff and keep them happy and focused. Last but not least, I have been a member of this forum since 2005 with an older moniker and you are clearly in the top 5 female posters ever on NL who write with a lot of clarity... and you are very witty too. I was cracking up to some of your posts here. Lol. Enjoy your day. Take care. |

How's it going 1stGenAmerican? I sent a priority email to you via the NL PM function 3 hours ago. Read it up ASAP when you get back online and take note of the specifics contained in the mail. Get back to me via email if you have any observations to make... I bet you are incapable of mailing back (or won't mail back as usual). Enjoy your day, hon'. Ciao! |
