Ayomipoe: I think it’s primarily your source of USD that determines which approach is best for you. Once the USD is in your local dom account, the only way to extract it will be to go through all the stress or use SWIFT or use the card on TransferWISE. I received my funds primarily from Freelance websites, so Payoneer -> USDT via Paxful has been my go to approach, otherwise when GeegPay rates are good and I don’t mind waiting for 24 hours, then I use them. Wish you the best, also don’t shy from experimenting, Grey.co, Crypto.com, there are platforms that give you access to European/ American banking info, however like I said, it depends on your source of funds. Nicely put. |

Ayomipoe: I fear this too. Hence my reluctance to save in my DOM account. OP, the major problem is scarcity and maybe because you don't know someone. UBA does not allow me to transfer USD with my app, so I have to physically go to the bank to withdraw (This is a nightmare, I assure you). I heard Access and GTB allow you to transfer with the app. What happens when I still used to go to the bank was that I would collect a recipient's account that used UBA as me, and then the FX guy would debit me and credit the guy. However, I noticed something weird. He would always cancel the sender name that I wrote as mine and write "self". Now, I use Geegpay and USDT. |

Betboss: I haven't given this a try, though I read somewhere that you can transfer from your TransferWise account to crypto.com . You cam then use the money to buy usdt or btc and exchange via pair to pair.
If its possible to use my dollar card to buy crypto, then that will be the absolute best.
I will try buying btc on binnance with my uba prepaid card and see what happens Insightful. |

I took the advice of some matured Nairalanders, rehearsed them couple of times, went with a little courage and overcame.
Some people from my previous thread were asking me what's difficult in going to greet someone who gave birth?
Well, that's what makes us different. To you it's easy. But for some of my type, it's very difficult.
The one I hate more than anything is going for condolence visit. I don't know of any other visit as hard as that. I always avoid that sh!t

WoundedLamb: Please, don't go out of your way to invite someone for a date and then ask them to pay after eating. That's not being smart. That's just outdoing yourself. If you have financial constraints, find a way to say it ahead of the date (or signal when they start ordering beyond what you can afford). This way, the invited party would know to take a bottle of water or come with thier money if they must eat more (or even decide not to come if hunger is their problem). It's a different thing if you guys agreed to meet somewhere for a chat and then they start eating like they haven't seen food in a long time. But if you asked them to join you for lunch/dinner, then you've assumed the positon of the host (similar to inviting someone to your place). Don't invite them where they wouldn't normally go to eat and then ask them to pay afterwards. This isn’t a matter of entitlement, it's just courtesy.
Now, as the invited party, do NOT ever go out with someone empty handed, always go with your card. And again, do not order what you can't pay for. If the place is too expensive, look at the person that invited you and try not spend more than they're spending on themselves. Nicely put. That's a basic rule of social etiquette. |

A Nigerian lady identified as Jane on Twitter has lamented after she went on a date with a man and he told her he can't pay for what she ate.
Taking to social media to narrate her experience, Jane revealed that the man blatantly declined to pay for what she ate, saying he would only settle his own bill.
She revealed that she only requested for a plate of fish pepper soup, grilled chicken, rice and drinks.
The lady shared;

@EginOfficial: This should have been agreed upon before setting out. What if you don’t have cash on you?
@white_wears: Lol. Why invite her on a date if you can’t pay for her food. Except she ate too much tho. Is it not normal?

NOTE: Please take the "screenshots" of all those fake NL moniker trolls that I saw sequentially following your NL account (with the fake Yoruba names they created to deceive folks that they are Yoruba), and keep sending the details by email to the super moderators for breaking Nairaland's RULE 19 (i.e., creating new NL accounts after being banned by a moderator). The trolls will be banned for 10 years by the super mods for breaking RULE 19. The use of free throw-away emails for new NL registrations is what is fuelling hate speech, fake accounts and trolling on NL. I've been a member of NL since 2005 with my older user account, and I know that things have gone so bad with many fake accounts, hate speech, cyberbullying and sexual harassment of females on NL. As far back as 2017, I made a suggestion that all NL members worldwide should re-register with our mobile phone numbers per each NL account. One mobile line to only one NL user. This would drastically minimize trolling, fake user accounts and hate speech here on NL. Gmail uses verification code numbers sent to mobile phones for new Gmail accounts. Details of mobile lines can be stored in the cloud for added security. Cheers. |

SugarGirl44: It’s nobody’s fault that we’re so naive, even till now we still worship them and prefer everything about them or our own, even to the English we’re using to type this. Africans hate themselves and worship their oppressors, they’re all breeding European and Arab kids in their homes, they even flog their kids for speaking their mother tongue.
For example, many Yoruba people hate Igboho who’s clamoring for a liberated Yoruba nation cos they prefer their colonial identity.
So who wouldn’t take advantage of such gullible people? Tell me.
Millions of broke Africans are in church right now adding to the wealth of their super rich pastors, and when you try to liberate them, they may even curse the person. The bolded is very misleading. Many folks of Yoruba descent don't hate Igboho and are not gullible like you stated.Chief Sunday Adeyemo (a.k.a Igboho) himself said after he was released in Benin Republic in the presence of the iconic Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka and other Yoruba intellingensia of Nigeria and Benin citizenships, eulogised the organisation and rule of law in Benin. He clearly said there would have been NO need for the agitation of his group if things were to be working fine or okay in Nigeria in terms of security from killer herdsmen and more. Igboho's comments were broadcast in the media and here on NL.To be honest, as a man with a vast knowledge of international business, investments, and geopolitical dynamics, I believe in the absolute decentralisation of Nigeria or independent statehood for the component major ethnicities and regions so as to remove the inefficiencies in the current unitary system of democracy. But it has to be done via UN-supervised referenda like that between North and South Sudan, former Yugoslavia, etc, and NOT in the current discordant way the secessionist groups are using, which have led to needless waste of energy and deaths. With a huge Diaspora and local population of over 50 million, the future Yoruba country which would be slightly bigger than Sierra Leone would be a major SUPER POWER in Africa and the world with the vast exploits of Diasporan Yoruba folks in the Tech space and other STEM and non-STEM fields. Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, SAN rapidly industrialised the Old Western region in the 1950s with the establishment of Ikeja GRA and several industrial estates such as Ikeja, Ilupeju, Iganmu [Ikeja, Ilupeju and over 90% of today's Lagos State land mass was carved out from Awolowo's Western region, in the May 27, 1967, 12 new states creation by Gen. Yakubu Gowon into the new Lagos State].
Oluyole industrial estate in Ibadan was also among Premier Obafemi Awolowo's legacies, which the Old Eastern and Northern regions copied in the 1950s to the 1960s in a healthy competition to form the Trans-Amadi and Kakuri industrial estates in Port Harcourt and Kaduna. I'll stop here. Enjoy your day. |

IbeOkehie: Freedom - in Nigeria you will suffer greatly if you're atheist, gay or lesbian or you say the wrong thing about a powerful politician or even your richer neighbor who can hire POLICE to detain and beat you up. Yes, I saw that happen in Nigeria. Such is *less likely* to happen in the Anglo-West.
Taxes - just yesterday at this swimming place where my daughter is taking lessons - https://www.aqua-tots.com/raleigh/?utm_source=Profiles&utm_medium=GoogleMaps&utm_campaign=AquaTots - someone had a heart attack. Guess what? Fire trucks and ambulance arrived in 8 minutes (I timed it because it happened right when our lessons finished). You can call the school and politely ask what happened to their instructor yesterday that had a health emergency, are they OK? What would have happened in Nigeria? That's what taxes are for, it's a REAL THING, I know people in Nigeria who DIED from exactly such an emergency.
Bills - you get what you pay for, choose what you want. Simple as that. For example, I don't have cable TV anymore. I can buy a solar system OR Generac generator tomorrow and cut off my electric utility supplier. I can dig a well in my home and supply my own water, YES IT'S ACTUALLY VERY COMMON TO DO THAT in the USA, especially in smaller towns. The fact is that maintaining such stand alone systems is difficult. For example you have to treat and purify the water to prevent disease, it's not easy. So I have CHOSEN to stay on the public system. And yes, my water bill was $20 per month 10 years ago and now it's $150, but that's my CHOICE.
Nigerian Food - I eat just about any Nigerian food I want and for your info, we get BETTER QUALITY Nigerian food here than you will ever find in Nigeria. Why? The producers want FOREX so they make sure to send THE BEST to markets in US/UK. My mother comments on this all the time. If you want to eat the best quality Nigerian food, the US/UK is where you get it.
2nd Class Citizen - I'm an Igbo man. I think have more rights in the USA than Nigeria. Another example, I can own land in the USA but not in Nigeria. Yes, no individual owns land in Nigeria, your Governor can take it at any time, that's the law. There's more prejudice, discrimination and bigotry in Nigeria than in the UK or USA.
Feeling Out of Place - When I moved back to Nigeria in 2011, that was when I felt out of place because my life style was so outstanding compared to most people around me. Once I left the confines of my home, all I saw was poverty everywhere. It made me uncomfortable. I noticed pure HATRED in the eyes of people because of my living standards. Forget feeling out of place, I felt under threat.
Your counter-factual commentary is very interesting for insight into the mind of the Nigerian. Much as I sympathize with the Nigerian people, I've said it many times they're their own worst enemies. Take what's going on RIGHT NOW, how will anyone in their right minds campaign for APC? Crazy, but it's Nigerians who believed Buhari when he said "there's nothing like fuel subsidy" LOL. Sadly, the same attitude is creeping into the USA and yes, things are changing as a result. As in, APC = Democratic Party, check the policies.
So what are you trying to accomplish by putting out all these comments? You talk about living a paradisal life in Nigeria when rich elderly Nigerians are now moving here to the USA to retire I can't mention names, but I know a whole Nigerian Army Colonel who retired here, his daughter told me a few years ago he couldn't collect his Nigerian pension while he was living in Nigeria, he got tired of the whole thing and left. I know a Central Bank Governor whose child schooled with me, that's a Big Man for sure, he lives in the USA now. I know a businessman who owns a few high value buildings in Lagos, he lives here now, he even brought his adult kids and their spouses and grandchildren, I kid you not! In fact if I start reeling out names you will be shocked. Let me tell you, if I could exhume my father's grave and bring his dead body here, I would...at least he'll be buried in a decent cemetry with manicured lawns, bright flowers and all.
I read a comment where someone else was saying that those over age 35 or whatever should think twice about migrating. Well, I can tell you from REAL LIFE EXPERIENCE that it's still a good thing and I learned it from my own mothers experience. My mother is well known in the Nigerian community here. I know at least 4 people over the age of 55 who came to USA and started life over and have now accomplished things they could NEVER DREAM OF DOING in Nigeria. Like the lady who came here at age 50 to visit her daughter and new born baby in Baltimore, she started taking nursing classes. Eventually she decided to stay in America, she brought her husband and now they bought their own home and she works as a nurse and only now is building a house in Nigeria....for what I don't know, but there it is.
It's one thing to disparage those of us abroad with an anonymous post, it's another to bring real life experience to the board as I'm doing. My wife has told me how they used to look down on Nigerians living abroad when she worked in Nigeria. And this is someone who traveled the world, surprisingly the myth persisted for her until she came to LIVE here.
Now let me shock you, I used to be a big proponent of moving back to Nigeria for all the reasons YOU HAVE GIVEN HERE, until I actually moved back to Nigeria in 2011. After I came back with my tail between my legs, I was the laughing stock of my social circle. And it's not just me, I know literally a dozen people that have moved back to Nigeria and it didn't work. Our experience is a VALIDATION of the STATISTICS....it's very difficult to live in Nigeria, the conditions are horrible even for the rich. One rich guy I know in PH is telling me his biggest problem is ELEMENTARY EDUCATION for his little kids, the cost in Nigeria is too high even for him and he's planning to send his wife and kids out here to take advantage of the TAX SUPPORTED quality education here. What was that thing you were saying about TAXES?
Theory is one thing, EXPERIENCE is another. You and your kind talk about taking VACATIONS in the UK/USA, but have you LIVED here? Nobody who has actually LIVED & WORKED here will say Nigeria is a better place for ANYONE except maybe 0.01% of the population. Please stop posting comments that are at best misleading. Nigerians are generally IGNORANT of even their own country and you're making it worse. |

cantok: Lagos— A woman’s narration of how she was allegedly raped by seven men in a gutter sometime in 2014 before Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo of a Lagos High Court sitting in Igbosere left many in tears, as she said she had to relocate to Port Harcourt because of shame.
The victim, who was led in evidence by the Lagos State prosecutor, Miss Monisola Osibogun, said on April 11, 2014, she and her sister boarded a bus from Ejigbo heading to 7/8 bus stop, and after alighting from the bus, some boys started pursuing them, adding that while she and her sister were running, one of the defendants brought out cutlass and pushed her into a gutter. The four defendants are Tochukwu Ilom, Confidence Oziegbe, Simeon Peter and Nnemeka Ugochukwu.
The victim, who was crying in the witness box while testifying, said: “The fourth defendant tied my legs to the flower, the third defendant used his cutlass on me, tied my hands and pushed me into the gutter. While inside the gutter, the first defendant pulled his pair of trousers, held on to my neck and raped me. He slapped me and said I should stop looking at his face. “The seven of them all took turns to rape me inside the gutter; with my hands and legs tied, the second defendant collected my phone and purse, he then asked me the actual amount that was in the purse. “After they finished raping me, they untied me and I struggled out of the gutter.
I was going naked when the first defendant asked me to come back and put on my trousers. Because of the fear, I wore it wrongly and left, then the first defendant called me back and pointed a gun at me and said I should wear my trousers properly. “When I started running, I saw three people pursuing me and I started running back and met the first defendant at the same spot and he said ‘you this useless girl where are you going to.’ I told him that I saw three men running after me, he then showed me another way to take. At that point when I was running I heard my sister calling me, immediately I ran towards her, I saw her with a policeman and I fainted. “After I fainted, I found myself at Igando Police Station.
When I woke up, I saw the first defendant and I told the policeman, this is one of the boys that raped me, but he denied that he was the one, the policeman pulled his pair of trousers and discovered that there was blood on his private part. “I was invited to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, where they brought seven men, but I was only able to identify these four, because I did not know the other three.
After pointing out the four defendants, I was taken to two different hospitals, where I spent one month.” The victim, who said the defendants stole her phone, wallet and cash, told the court that she wants justice to be done in the case. The defendants were arraigned in January 2015, on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, robbery and rape preferred against them by the police.
The Lagos State prosecutor, Miss Monisola Osibogun, said the defendants committed the alleged offences on April 11, 2014, at about 6 am, at 7/8 bus stop along Airport Road, Lagos. Osibogun said that the defendants robbed the victim of her Samsung Galaxy phone valued at N40,000, a wallet and N2,200 and raped her.
However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the offences.
Source: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/05/woman-tells-court-7-men-raped-inside-gutter/ Bump. Gosh! I'm really angry with what these idiotic migrants did to the two sisters in Lagos. Would they allow any man to brutally rape their own blood sisters like that? Chemical castrations and heavy jail terms have to be introduced ASAP for rape crimes back in Nigeria. Women themselves have to lead the way in advocating for stiffer laws, and the men who have been laid back will key in to the advocacy. Period. |

sonature1: Every girl was born a virgin until a guy deceived her with love or marriage promises, made her to fall in love with him, threatened to leave her if she doesn't open her legs and still left her after sleeping with her.
Let's not forget that there are many girls who lost their virginity to rapists and are too ashamed to open up because of stigmatisation.
So, Mr. Man, be gentle on these girls because no girl lost her virginity without a male partaking in the act. If you have ever slept with a girl without marrying her, then you are part of the problem, so shame on you. Nobody can deceive a woman or girl into having sex if they don't allow it. Period. |
