sukkot: but to be honest with you bro ? i dont do any forex or stocks or cryptos etc. never have and never will. not my thang. too volatile. but thanks for the offer though
Good morning...
That's okay @Sukkot. Those cryptos are way too volatile just like you said. The other assets like stocks, commodities, currencies investments, etc, are okay because they are backed by fundamentals and are used to hedge against inflation.
Just wanted to hint you because of the headwinds ahead, but then I also realise that in the grand scheme of things, these things... too much money and all, don't matter for those who aspire to... or have reached an ascended spiritual status.
sukkot: Yes Sirrrrr Femi need to toss 10 million dollars my way so i can purchase a second boat for myself . Glad to hear you are handling business .Salute
Aha, I remember our convo on the Yuan weakness...
Sukkot read up on PAMM, and copy trading, and I can give you a connect to the authentic funds managers in the Lasgidy area since you say you can't trade in the fin markets.
sukkot: hey brother what it do mayneeeeeeeeeeeeeee hehe yeah happy new month. trust you are well
Yeah, Sukkot, the Grandmaster of Lekki Peninsula, I hail o! I saw that Atlanta regional lingo or code switch you used there. Lol.
I'm very well, I took some days off NL to attend conferences and business capacity building stuff.
'Femi Otedola has earned his money legit by borrowing money from the banks to start his diesel business and then got into the Forbes billionaire list before dropping due to a fall in oil prices in the 2010s. He even gives millions to charitable causes (just like Forbes rated Mrs. Folorunso Alakija does).
So, I'm satisfied with him. Lagos State indigenes have business savvy folks among them!
Just wanted to say hello to you. Have a nice day bruv.
Invest4growth: 2023 is not for trial and error. Any candidate not willing to reset Nigeria should not start campaigning because the test starts from the fields. *In case you don't know the root cause of our problems today, please take time out and read below:*
*As of 25/07/2022, the exchange rates were:*
*£1 = ₦800* *$1 = ₦670* *€1 = ₦662*
*42 years ago, precisely on 25/07/1980 the exchange rate was:* *$1 = 0.80k*
*Are you surprised?*
*Well, we were far more productive in 1980 than we are today.*
*In 1980 the key reasons for economic growth were as follows:*
*1. We were a net exporter of refined petroleum products. Today we import all our refined petroleum products.*
*2. We rode in locally assembled cars, buses and trucks. Peugeot cars in Kaduna and Volkswagen cars in Lagos.*
*3. Leyland produced trucks/buses in Ibadan and ANAMCO in Enugu also produced buses and trucks.*
*4. Steyr in Bauchi produced our Agricultural tractors. And it was not just Assembly, we were producing many of the components:*
*5. Vono products in Lagos produced the vehicle seats.*
*6. Exide in Ibadan produced the batteries, not just for Nigeria but for the entire West Africa.*
*7. IsoGlass and TSG in Ibadan produced the windshields.*
*8. Ferrodo in Ibadan produced the brake pads and discs*
*9. Dunlop produced Tyres in Lagos and Mitchelin Tyres were produced in Port Harcourt. And I mean tyres produced from rubber plantations located in Ogun, Bendel and Rivers State.*
*10. We were listening to Radio and watching television sets assembled in Ibadan by Sanyo.*
*11. We were using refrigerators, freezers and Airconditioners produced by Thermocool and Debo.*
*12. We were putting on clothes produced from the UNTL Textile Mills in Kaduna and Chellarams in Lagos. They were Not from imported cotton but from cotton grown in Nigeria.*
*13. Our water was running through pipes produced by Kwalipipe in Kano and Duraplast in Lagos .*
*14. Our toilets were fitted with WC produced in Kano and Abeokuta.*
*15 We were cooking with LPG gas stored inside gas cylinders produced at the NGC factory in Ibadan.*
*16. Our electricity was flowing through cables produced by the Nigerian Wire and Cable, Ibadan; NOCACO in Kaduna and Kablemetal in Lagos and Port Harcourt.*
*17. We had Bata and Lennards Stores producing the shoes we were putting on. The shoes were not from imported leather but from locally tanned leather in Kaduna*.
*18. We were mainly flying our Airways, (the Nigeria Airways), to most places in the world. The Nigeria Airways was about the biggest in Africa at the time*.
*19. Most of the foods we ate were grown or produced in Nigeria*.
*We were producing all of the above and many more in 1980*
*Today, we import almost everything. Isn't that alarming?*
*There lies the source of the terrible exchange rate we are experiencing today and everyone reading this has a critical role to play in reversing this very UGLY trend.*
*We have been talking about these problems and more for ages.*
*It is not enough for us to complain about the exchange rate or point out what others are not doing or are failing to do. The key questions are:*
*1. What are we producing now?* *2. What role are our so- called Leaders/ Politicians of today playing?*
*We are forever shying away from responsibility whereas it is a stack reality and if we don't deal with it, it won't go away. In fact it will get worse*.
*To our dear Politicians, if you don't have the capacity to RESET Nigeria to what it was at least back in 1980 then please stay in your house and don't waste our time.*
An awesome post! Every event stated there is accurate.
But then the politicians have not even been able to RESET U.S.A to what it was in 1980 before the U.S. Fed increased interest rates in the early 1980s that led to a global economic meltdown and the weakening of many currencies in relation to the USD.
dominique: Already crying? Why does it hurt so bad that male children are not given more special treatment than female? Are we not all equal in the eyes of God again? Both my parents grew up in traditional Yoruba homes, their inheritance were shared equally amongst the sons and daughters. My mum had 16 younger brothers, she delegated the property sharing and all they all complied. Keep lying to yourself, nobody gives male special treatment in Yoruba families except in few cases.
@Dominique, an interesting convo you had there... It cracked me up to read the back-and-forth convos. Lol.
The role of Yoruba women is "complementary" rather than subordinate to men in Yoruba society as demonstrated over the centuries in economic and social life. This historical fact is well known in the international culture studies space due to the global reach of the Yoruba people and descendants from the late 1700s in Cuba, Brazil, Jamaica, UK, U.S.A, etc.
So, the proper term to use here would be "complementary" and NOT that Yoruba men and women in the physical body are "equal." They are not equal in any way due to the "yin and yang" interactions, physical, mental, physiological and emotional differences like other folks worldwide.
matrixme: People are always guilt tripping billionaires when they take time out to enjoy their money, saying that there are hungry mouths to feed and all of that.
Since before the advent of Christ, there has often been poverty around the world. Christ met and left it there. So even if you give all the world's wealth to feed hungry mouths, you will only make it worst as you're going to have many more people starving.
Otedola has sponsored many to school, feed many hungry people through his philanthropic projects and contributed to social good in many ways. So it's not bad taking time to unwind with family. If this hurts you in any way, please get the next witchcraft form.
Edit: Both Femi Otedola the father and Dj Cuppy, the daughter have their foundation to help the less privileged. At a time, Femi Otedola donated $14 million on a single night for philanthropic projects.
Nicely put.
Don't mind them, poverty mentality will not let them see the millionaire opportunities that exist around them, and they go about guilt-tripping wealthy folks.
A father was humiliated by his daughters after they found proof that he is cheating on their mother again.
The daughters, said to be Ugandans living in USA, found their father's chats with his mistress so they read out the chats in the presence of other family members, including their father and mother.
They told their father he ought to be ashamed of himself, they also told him that he can't keep putting their mother through that while she is trying to work on the marriage.
At one point, one of the daughters begins crying and tells her father, "I want to kill you dad."
She also said to him, "You should be ashamed. How many f******* times are you going to put my mum through the same f****** bullsh*t?"
Another daughter then goes to their mum and gives her a sweater to keep warm.
While all this is going on, the father, who has a cup of tea sitting on a table before him, is seen silently looking at his daughters.
When the father tries to interrupt, the daughters refuse to let him speak.
One daughter is heard saying: "Daddy, you are a cheater and you gotta listen to what she's saying."
Another daughter says: "You are not that father figure. I don't care who you are to me, you are nothing to me."
The camera zooms to their father's chat with the other woman at some point and it shows them sexting.
The woman talks about sending him "nudes" of "those big boobs" and encouraging him to look at them.
She also wrote: "You know it when it's wet."
After they read out the chats, one daughter says to their father: "I found out even before Jane but me and you don't have a good relationship. So, when I saw this, when I read this, it didn't hurt me because I already decided that fourteen years ago, I lost you as a dad. So, when I saw this, it didn't hurt me."
However, she said her sisters were hurt when they found out.
The daughter continues: "She found out, Tyra found out the day we got back and Tyra cried. Ashley found out today. And Ashley loved you, Ashley loved you, that's why she's so mad like this because she loved you."
Ashley then begins crying at this point as she calls her father out and tells him that she wants to kill him.
The video has gone viral and has elicited mixed reactions.
Are you sure this happened in the U.S.? This could be a movie trailer from Uganda you know... Lol.
It's inconceivable that 3 girls would unwisely put their family privacy and their dad's sexting convos out there for the world to see while their mother quietly looked on...
C'mon, a better way would have been for the 3 girls to have a calm face-to-face, but firm convo with their dad and give him a warning about the short to long-term negative results of having an affair with another woman. Period.
Goalgetter23: My brother, you don't know what you are talking about, I was a local government coordinator during the formation of labour party in the early days, cumulating to winning the election in Ondo State. Mimiko was a minister then, he didn't have the money to pursue the Governorship election, we donated money in every local government for him, Tunji & Tunji sold 2 petrol stations to donate to his campaign, the election results was clearly rigged for Agagu, the results was declared in Abuja instead of Akure, the state capital, labour party went to court, but there was no money, Tinubu financed a large chunk of the tribunal legal fees & also made contacts with the military hierarchy for Mimiko's protection (bcux for safety, he had to be changing bases/houses & cars almost every night). Mimiko betrayed a lot of people that helped him, Olaiya Oni, Tunji & Tunji etc. Go & ask about this people. Mimiko contested for Senate in 2019 under the Zenith Labour, he came 3rd. He supported Agboola Ajayi, the then Dep.Governor in 2020, he also came distant 3rd.
Respect Jagaban. He has assisted so many. I'm very active in Ondo politics, can't say for other states, but in Ondo State, forget Mimiko. He's not that respected again, simply because he's very unpredictable. You can never bank on is words or agreements.
Nicely put.
It's an open secret right up to the Diaspora that Asiwaju Tinubu assisted Olusegun Mimiko financially during his court case to reclaim his stolen Governorship mandate that was brutally rigged by the PDP with Obasanjo's Federal might!
I remember that Mike Tyson, Mandela, etc, had their names and pictures in the Ondo State voters register! I'm surprised that Acidosis is not aware of these facts that have been in the public domain from back in the day.
buygala: I am Yoruba, and also did most of my growing up in Yoruba land..so I am speaking from a vantage point of view
If male and female kids have equal rights in Yoruba land as you say, why haven't we had female Obas and Oonis?
Why are most important social and political positions in Yoruba land headed by men if women are equal to them?
It's good to console oneself..just don't console yourself with falsehood
Let me add some specifics to your convo here.
There are female Regents chosen from among the Yoruba Princesses who take up the roles of traditional rulers when the Oba (King) joins the ancestors, and I'm aware that in history, an Ooni has descended from the female line in Ile Ife.
Second, all the male and female children receive equal shares of inheritance from their late parents' properties without discrimination according to traditional Yoruba customs.
Third, I'm aware that in Yoruba societies such as in Abeokuta, the oldest person in the family automatically becomes the head of the family, and that includes women who everyone defers to in terms of leadership with input from other siblings! This is the reason why the Yorubas have been able to raise strong and independent women in the society.
Women held "complementary" rather than subordinate roles to men in Yoruba society throughout history.
When the well-known African-American, Judge Glenda Hatchetts' DNA test results showed she has Yoruba maternal ancestry (from the pre-1860 era when the last slave ship arrived in the United States), the American short video narrator spoke... or emphasized, glowingly on the leadership roles that Yoruba women have played in the economic and social life from back in the day!
These are some of the specifics that @dominique was alluding to in her earlier convos with you on this thread.
Realist12: you said last year . I'm talking of pre 2015 when I worked with NPA. Besides who knows the purpose was for exportation. Rather it was used as a ware house for RORO imported vehicles.
iLegendd: Know the person first for 6 months to a year before marriage. You call it anything you want, but do your KYC properly.
Well said.
However, 4 months to 1 year of dating in order to strictly get to know one another through open, strategic convos and healthy arguements is okay by me before any wedding ceremony.
silvoclaira: U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, 390 deaths a year on average are attributed to drowning in a swimming pool or at a spa.
Some Adults drown in pools living day light
&
Some kids survive pool drowning
Drowning can happen anytime, including when children are not expected to be near water, such as when they gain unsupervised access to pools. Fatal drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury death behind motor vehicle crashes for children ages 1-4 in the US alone.
Nearly 80 % of people who die from drowning are male
kollins2345: i know her she is a clearing and forwarding agent, based at the airport cargo export chapter, i dont know maybe she is part time lawyer ooo,our work as a clearing agent is getting more risky this days, dispatched riders do bring cargo from client some time uber bring cargo as well, we can't tell them to wait for NDLEA to be check before they leave most agents are innocents.
Thanks for bringing more clarity to this.
Second, she may have read law in the Uni in Benin Republic which is Nigeria's next door neighbor, but if she hasn't proceeded to any of the Law Schools in Nigeria, then she is NOT yet qualified to be called a lawyer!
I doubt if this 26-year-old went to Law School since she is into freight forwarding and still got involved in this crime!
tk4rd: Now you see why some guys don't leave totally, even when you tell them NO...
Some girls would take offence that he just left just like that., and that means, the love he was professing all along was fake..
Others would start loving the guy once he left.. And would be the one to remind him that he once her, but she was shy then, and she had made up her mind to date him.. Fortunately for such girls, most guys would accept her, but unfortunately, he would keep her as a second or third babe., and be faking love for her as long as she didn't burst the hidden arrangement..
Some other guys may outrightly decline her, and she might end up being the one pestering the guy's life with all forms of drama..
The thing is, once a lady loves a guy, she can do anything for him., even go crazy for him.
CaroLyner: 7. Situation: ‘message seen at …’ What she’s really saying: “I read what you said but I have no interest whatsoever in replying now….or ever.” This is the worst of the worst and I personally hate Facebook for having this feature. If she’s not replying back within a day but has Facebook activity (ie: selfies, check-in, etc) then my man, I am sorry to say that she is just not that into you.
8. Line: “I’m really busy this week.” What she’s really saying: “I really don’t want to hang out with you.” This is the case of the modern busy girl. Which many of us truly are, balancing a full time job, a couple of other projects and a social life (plus family). But if she says she’s busy this week and doesn’t tell you when she IS available (ie: “busy this week, but let’s meetup next Monday“) it’s almost as saying that she will be permanently busy.
Abiolaseyi: I have searched through Nairaland and I couldn’t find any helpful thread dedicated to US H-1B visa category. So I am creating this thread to help those that may have any questions relating to this non-immigrant work visa category. Please for anyone that has gone through the process as a Nigerian, your input will be of great help to a lot of people in this visa category. Kindly share your petition filling experience, the visa stamping process in US embassy in Nigeria and lot more that people could benefit from.
Brief about the H-1B Visa
The H-1B program allows companies and other employers in the United States to temporarily employ foreign workers in occupations that require the theoretical and practical application of a body of highly specialized knowledge and a bachelor's degree or higher in the specific specialty, or its equivalent
kowema: The flood is usually pretold before it happens. I've heard many agencies call for the Dams to be worked on, drainages cleared in that area and all to mitigate the flood..it feels like it's never done.
I can't forget the first time it escalated in 2012. I was travelling as a corper from Benin to Jigawa. That road was unplyable. The rivers had over flowed their bank, farms produce unharvestable, houses submerged, communities made homeless. Traffic we met at Lokoja was 2 weeks old. We had to use a crane to cross our bus tru the nearby River. The scariest experience of my life. One crane carried 2 buses loaded with 15 passengers and 1 small car. 15k per vehicle to cross us.
My heart sank over an over in this 10 mins of one of the riskiest moves of my life. Like what if the crane just bends?, We'd just sink. Kai!
Years after it's still same. See the picture below
There are crocodiles and snakes in that river that are waiting to have lunch with any living thing that is unfortunate to drop like a heavy rock into the flooded waters.
Discovery Channel and NatGeo Wild have taught me to be aware of getting too close to unfamiliar river banks while on leisure travels so as not to get savagely attacked and dragged into the waters by those nimble crocs.
NothingDoMe: Swimming pools have covers. There's also motion detectors and cctv to check what's happening around. If you can afford a pool then you're most likely able to afford the safety features that goes with it.
irunoko: if na oyinbo land, them for don arrest him parents for manslaughter and carelessness but as usual it is a serious crime not to have money in Nigeria.na the domestic staff go be the target
@irunoko, Word!
Oyinbos are known for not taking such things with levity. But then if the Nigerian caregivers were paid salaries to take care of the cute Adeleke toddler, then they have questions to answer.
Sometimes parents want to have some private time for themselves to flex or travel intercity... and so they leave the kid(s) with grandmas, aunts, and caregivers.
N30 billion of earned income by Davido could not save his kid. "Owo yi gan" cannot save you when a major turning point is about to take place in life. That's what I've learned for years now!
Eriokanmi: Too bad. Please my people, even if you can afford a swimming pool, for the sake of your joy... your children, don't build one.
If you must take them out for swimming, please engage an instructor. Kids are God's priceless gifts. This isn't good news at all and
I hope people would learn from this unfortunate incident. The other day it was Dbanj's son. This careless habit must stop please. Swimming pool in your home isn't by force
Nicely put @Eriokanmi...
I was gonna type almost exactly what you typed here. No need to do so again.
They just have to borrow a leaf from other folks and Dbanj on how he and his bae coped after their toddler son drowned in a swimming pool. They have since gone ahead to have more kids now.
Even drownings by toddlers in bathtubs, staircase falls, electric irons, kids trapped inside unlocked refrigerators, deep freezers, and cars can be horrendous!
