olly6559: Clapping for some Nairaland internet farmers response!! A bunch of bananas cost about N300 naira here in a mrk at Erunmu, Ibadan while a bunch of plantain goes btw N700 - 1500 depending on its finger sizes. Even a bunch purchased in d mnth of Sep along Gbongan-Osogbo express rd was N1000 despite the truth that they produce fruts in excess around that area. It depends, they eat lots of bananas in the east unlike in Southwest, do your home work thoroughly before u commence planting and remember to intercrop with maize/melon/soya beans/potatoes inorder to save cost on monthly weeding. Plantain/banana plantation isn't a cheap and quick buz. |

Alexanity: My mum does both plantain and Banana plantation and I tell you Banana is more profitable, reason is becuase banana bunch is usually far bigger than plantains bunch and banana has the capacity to multiply faster than plantain in the couse of time, again banana has better root so during dry season their survival rate is better than plaintain with shallow root, I know based on which has better usage, yes plantains may be more nutritional and all of that but plantain is more like a food while banana is more like a fruits and for the record fruits had been more costly than most other food |

As a strategy, he identifies breeds that are more productive – high-yielding and pest-resistant varieties.
At the beginning of the planting season, you buy 1,000 suckers at N120 each, which adds up to N120,000. When you harvest you will get 1,000 bunches of plantain which you will sell for at least N1400 each. So, you will make about N1.4 million. 2017... Insights. |

a8180421: I was born here but grew up in Nigeria, came back as Adult and have been here 10 years. Buckhead is the Banana Island of Atlanta, or will I say Georgia as a whole, Buckhead is where celebrities are living, CEO’s, Diplomats, Rich and wealth individuals, 5star hotels and Malls, Good Schools, Good Hospitals, nice neighborhood just name it. Clubs, Bars, Anything Luxury, that’s Buckhead.
Notwithstanding, there are good and nice neighborhood apart from Buckhead. I choose Buckhead because of my kids. If you want to live in Atlanta, I will advise to avoid anything from Downtown – Far South Side of Fulton and Clayton County. Clayton County is 90% blacks and Anything South in the US is majority black and Far North for the racist white.
The big peach, as it is nicknamed, was built around a major axis called Peachtree Street which extends to the north by Peach Road the main track. This large avenue crosses the 3 main areas of the city:
Downtown: home to the city's iconic skyscrapers, business center and most tourist sites
Midtown: Most populated area comprising residential, office and commercial skyscrapers with also extensive green spaces
Buckhead: Huge area shared by Buckhead Village or Atlanta Heights) and the Peachtree Road area. ( Most Expensive Residential and Office and Commercial )
The West Atlanta, South Atlanta, East Atlanta and Decatur neighborhoods are part of the Atlanta suburbs. Like I said above, if you’re coming to Atlanta to live, please avoid
Oakland City, Lakewood Heights- Southeast Atlanta, West End, Grove Park, Adamsville, Adams Park, Center Hill, Adair Park, Cascade Heights, U-Rescue Villa, Old Fourth Ward, Kirkwood (known for gangs), Castleberry Hill, Washington Park, Edgewood, Peoples town, Vine City, and East Atlanta Village, Bankhead, Downtown, Riverdale, Jonesboro,
Safer Place to live
Buckhead, Brookhaven, Candler Park, Lake Claire, Midtown, Buckhead, Poncey-Highland, Lenox/Morningside, John Creek, Atlantic Station and anything North of Atlanta. Other areas but 30 mins drive from Atlanta is Marietta, Kennesaw, Lawrenceville, Alpharetta, Peachtree City, Duluth, North Decatur, @a8180421, That's awesome! Thanks for putting in the effort to give detailed specifics about the pros and cons of living in your homecity... Pure market intel. It's great you were born in the U.S. and then lived back on the continent of Africa (i.e., Nigeria) before moving back to the States. This gives those who have done so a proper grounding of the socio-cultural flow in Nigeria, Ghana, etc, and they are able to quickly navigate their way in the U.S. and take advantage of the investment opportunities that the countries on both sides of the Atlantic have to offer. Though he was born in Ibadan in 1954 before traveling to the U.S. in the early 1970s for his University education as a teen, the Houston, Texas-based oil and gas business mogul, Kase Lawal's knowledge of the inner workings of Nigeria and the U.S. enabled him to become a big player in the commodities and energy sectors on both sides of the Atlantic with the setting up of CAMAC. A former high school buddy of mine who was born of an AA mum (she worked for a major American airline that flew every week in the 1980s into Nigeria) and a Nigerian dad also moved to Nigeria as a kid, and after high school in Nigeria, he moved back to the U.S. and joined the U.S. Marine Corp just like his older bruv who flew combat jets during the first Gulf War in 1990-1991 (caused by Iraq's invasion and annexation of Kuwait). I've been looking forward to exploring the real estate space in the Atlanta/Georgia area and your thread came in handy for me. All the best to you and your fam now and down the road. Thanks again. |

Second, I watched the video, and I never faulted your claim about what that boy said in the video. I only pointed out to everyone reading this thread that the boy CANNOT be from Ogun State which he claimed. Aliyu is a family name used by Yoruba Muslims. There is NO John Aliyu from Ogun State. So the boy should be investigated further by the police to know his true state of origin and his real names! That's all. Cheers. |

Chartey: Have you watched the video? He said he's from Ogun State himself. There are actually many Naija boys like that in Ghana with no skill, no education. How do they get jobs when they have nothing to offer? Their friends promise them heaven and when they get there, they realise life is not easy and they resort to crime. Hang on a minute... The name combos... Aliyu John or John Aliyu are NOT names from Ogun State in Yorubaland. Most Yorubas who bear Aliyu as surnames are usually Muslims. NOTE: Aminu is another Muslim family surname Yorubas bear. The Nigerian-American brothers and U.S. NBA players, Alade and Al-farouk Aminu have a paternal grandfather who was an Oba Aminu or king in Yorubaland. I know of the former Nigerian Olympic athlete 'Deji Aliyu from Ondo State though. It is people from the xtian-dominated areas of the Middle Belt states in Nigeria that would bear a name such as Aliyu John or John Aliyu. |

Classicpounds: A thief identified as Aliyu John has been severely dealt with by residents of a neighborhood he went to steal from. The thief said to be a Nigerian was caught stealing a phone at Akotolane in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
After he was dealt with by the shop owner and residents around, he was given food to eat and to seal the game beautifully, they gave him a beautiful girlfriend to be with.
Meanwhile, before they did all these goodies to him, he was made to distill a dirty gutter with his bare hands after which he was given the food to eat. He was also made to bath and they changed his clothes for him. The thief was treated like a king even though he did something that society frowns on.
He was given four balls of banku with fish and he finished it all, a sign to indicate that he was starving and was on the verge of death. Take a look at some photos and videos from the scene below;

Chang’s China Bistro, a popular Asian casual-dining restaurant chain based in the U.S. Since 2020, he has been leading the company to ensure its continued growth and success. Damola, who is now 33-years old, has been essential in the evolution of P.F. Chang’s, one of the largest and most famous restaurant chains across the globe. Even though the brand is still strong, he believed that it is necessary to embrace change to adapt to the uncertain future. As P.F. Chang’s CEO, Damola worked on revamping the dining rooms and revising the menu items. He also initiated the inclusion of delivery and to-go orders which was viewed as unfitting to the brand before. Now the chain operates a number of small fast-casual-type of locations around the country. True enough, the business survived even when the pandemic hit. What’s more, he led the company to a 31.7% increase in sales in 2021 compared to the year before, according to Top 500 chain data from Restaurant Business sister firm, Technomic. Moreover, Damola is a partner at Paulson & Co., which became one of the principal owners of P.F. Chang’s which was bought for $700 million in 2019. Christianity Etc › Re: That Is Blasphemy - Rev. Yinka Yusuf Faults Buhari For Saying Jesus Is A Prophet by AlphaTaikun: 4:09pm On May 17, 2022*. Modified: 4:25pm On May 17, 2022 |
OyinO: The Murder of Deborah Yakubu by religious fanatics and the chilled silence by the Northern leadership shows that the far north has chained itself or put itself in bondage to superstition and irrational beliefs. If a few youths can murder a young lady and the leadership keep silent because of the fear of repercussions from the fanatics they created and groomed, then the far north is doomed to self destruction if it cannot find the strength to root out irrational religious extremism from its midst.
Killing a person because of perceived blasphemy is tantamount to human sacrifice to a man made deity. I say man made, because The Omnipotent Omniscient Creator Supreme does not need to murder its own creation or order human beings to murder its own creation, just because that human being failed to acknowledge Its own existence. If indeed human beings are created in the Image of the Creator Supreme, endowed with the faculty of choice, I.e. Free Will, then automatically it follows that some will choose to believe or not believe. The so called crime of blasphemy is in reality the crime of not believing. Beliefs can be true and false, and human beings have intelligence and intellect to critically examine all beliefs and decide for themselves what to believe and what not to believe. Indeed believing is a shallow use of the human intellect, that requires no intellectual effort. It is better to understand and gain insight into the workings of nature and thus arrive at knowledge and develop a system of knowledge that gives you success.
Blasphemy arose when imperialists and oligarchs hijacked religions. They banished religious tolerance and called it polytheism. They created their own god (a reflection of their own Ego) and a belief system around it and called it monotheism. They made this one god (the Ego of the Oligarch or tyrant) the state religion, and proceeded to persecute all other competing religious and spiritual systems, punishing the practitioners as heresies and blasphemers. This is what happened. That is why some of continue to question, what god are you talking about? Is it the Creator Supreme, or a substitute, the Ego of the ruling tyranny masquerading as a Supreme Deity?
In this age of knowledge we must be able to challenge beliefs and also do critical analysis of all systems of beliefs and knowledge. Can the Omnipotent Creator Supreme be afraid of such enquiries and interrogation by its own creation, whom are only fulfilling the reason they are created. This reason is to Know their Creator and give IT the Experience of IT BEING THE CREATOR OF ALL. Very well said. The Muslim Arabs and Europeans brutally enslaved and killed Africans for centuries and justified it with references from their so-called religious teachings. It is a big shame that the Africans have elevated the fossilized religions of the Muslim Arab and Euro plantation slave oppressors to a fanatical status. The ultimate delusion of grandeur and psychosis! Till date, those Arabs use a derogatory name for Africans even online but I won't type it here. Yet you have some neurotic Africans in Nigeria justifying with religion the open murder of a girl in an academic environment. Europeans have even liberated themselves from dogmatic xtianity and religion which held Europeans down during the medieval era. |

Investorozay: VP OSINBAJO UNVEILS NIGERIA’S FIRST COCONUT OIL FACTORY, FRIDAY
All is now set for the commissioning of the St. Gabriel Coconut Oil Factory in Mkpat Enin, Akwa Ibom State, following the successful test running of the factory.
The multi-billion naira value-chain facility which would create thousands of job opportunities for Akwa Ibom people wil be inaugurated on Friday by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo,SAN following its completion by the Turkish firm, VKS.
The St. Gabriel’s Coconut Oil Factory Project, a major industrial investment by Akwa Ibom State Government comprises of a factory complex complete with administrative offices, production areas, technical spaces, industrial firefighting systems, water treatment plants, effluent treatment plants and residential quarters for technical and managerial staff as well as parking areas for several raw materials bearing vehicles.
The project is located in the serene environment of Ikot Akpan Okop village, along the East West Road in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area. The project execution was flagged off by Governor Udom Emmanuel during a ground-breaking ceremony on May 24th, 2017.
Recall that a whooping 2million fast yeilding hybrid coconut trees had been planted on an 11,000 hectare of land at the St Gabriel plantation in a swampland spanning Mkpat Enin, Ikot Abasi and Eastern Obolo Local Government Areas. Similarly, the Government has ensured that coconuts are cultivated at Okobo, Okon -Eket and other locations in the State.
This makes it the largest coconut plantation in Africa, and the most ambitious coconut project in the world. All this is a conscious effort by the visionary leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel to prepare Akwa Ibom State, which is Nigeria highest crude oil producing State from over reliance on petroleum.

Business › Re: A Nigerian Billionaire That Most Nigerians Do Not Know (photos) by AlphaTaikun: 7:39am On May 17, 2022 |
Razgas: Welcome to the new world of Nigerian billionaire of Lebanese descent, Gilbert Ramez Chagoury. At a time in Nigeria’s recent history, Chagoury, as a business magnate, was an all-powerful figure. His phenomenal influence started during the late Sani Abacha era but it peaked during the Goodluck Jonathan era. During that time, Chagoury —alongside his co-billionaire businessman brother, Ronald— were effervescent. They were not only close to the Abacha and Jonathan families, but also chummy with many other socialites, celebrities and power brokers. That was the situation until power changed hands in Nigeria in 2015. But with the coming to power of President Muhammadu Buhari, coupled with his mention in the then email scandal involving former United States first lady and Secretary Hillary Clinton, among other issues in the US, Chagoury mellowed for some time before he finally left Nigeria. Despite wriggling himself out of those crises, various reasons —plausible and implausible— have been adduced for his AWOL in Nigeria’s business and social spheres.
A source told Spotlight that in the run up to the 2015 Presidential elections, Chagoury allegedly splashed out a huge sum of money on PR services in the US for the benefit of the then incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan against the person of his rival. But the turnout of the result of that election shook Chagoury who couldn’t predict what would become of him with the new sheriff in town and then opted to stay away to avoid having problems with the new administration. The billionaire was said to have made the US his initial new abode immediately he was cleared of any wrongdoing by the FBI over the Clinton email saga while his immediate younger brother, Ronald held forte in Nigeria. The billionaire was then shuttling London, Beirut and Dubai to attend to business concerns personally until recently when he finally settled for Paris as his new base where he was plucked to be part of Macron’s France-Nigeria Business Council headed by Nigerian billionaire, Abdulsamad Rabiu.
Gilbert and his brother, Ronald, who have built a reputation as giants of global philanthropy, are among Africa’s richest men with generous donations to charitable projects around the world. The brothers returned briefly to the spotlight in April 2020 when they significantly boosted Nigeria’s fight against the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic with the donation of N1 billion to Lagos State government. Gilbert —the older of the duo— has always maintained that the vision for his life was greater than he could imagine and considered it a duty to give back.
Sources said with nothing to be afraid of, however, Gilbert has chosen to stay away leaving his trusted brother to oversee all the multi-billion dollar investments and projects scattered across Nigeria. Born in Lagos, Nigeria by immigrant parents in the 1930s, Gilbert —he’s all-in-all a Nigerian albeit of Lebanese blood— and Ronald owned a number of great investments in Nigeria. Operating under the Chagoury Group —an industrial conglomerate founded in 1971 with interests in almost every viable sector in Nigeria. The group’s net worth, according to Forbes, is about $4.2 billion. The Chagoury brothers own the prestigious Eko Hotel & Suites, HITECH Construction Company and ITB Construction Limited. They are also behind the over $6 billion Eko Atlantic project, which is an entirely reclaimed coastal city built also in the upmarket Victoria Island area of Lagos and is reserved exclusively for the high net worth individuals and corporate entities including some embassies. Its grand cheerleaders boast that on completion, the new Eko Atlantic would match that of New York’s Manhattan Island. |

Frankreporters: Korra Obidi, June Dean, her daughter and Steve had a very nice time together during the live broadcast. Steve brought some fruits which include star apples and some other fruits they could not identify. They ate the fruits with merriment before Korra Obidi finally decided to read and respond to comments from her loving and caring online fans.
While facing the camera to communicate with her fans, Korra Obidi unknowingly opened her legs to the full view of her fans who didn’t find it appealing at all. Her legs were so wide apart from each other that her undies was clearly visible. Some of her fans could not resist the view, so they had to voice out their thoughts over her sitting position.
Going down the comments, she saw a comment from a fan who felt displeased with the way she was seated. With her legs spread apart, the fan was able to see through, then she was advised by many other fans to close her legs. Korra actually stylishly took the advice seriously and closed her legs.
However, even as she had closed her legs, her fans kept telling her to close them. This made them to laugh hard. This also reminded Steve of her old self.
According to Steve, sitting was a big problem to her when she was growing up. At that time, she was always sitting with her legs wide open. She actually displayed a demonstration of how she used to sit during the live broadcast.

Poswahala: Guys I genuinely need some advice Because of the state of my mental health I have decided never to get married or have kids, I suffer from intense depression and anxiety and other mental health problems. I'm unsure of my own future talk more of a child. I do love being in relationships but I do that only for companionship and sex. I don't know if I will regret my decision. The guys I have dated have been cool with my no marriage proposal but I don't think any Nigerian man will not want kids. I'm thinking of moving to another country, buy a house, take care of my community and neighbors then when I'm old, I will move to a retirement home. If I change my mind I can adopt a child, am not against adoption as I am with marriage, it depends on if my mental health improves
The problem I have is that will I be lonely without a child, like I said I'm not into marriage despite being a woman trained in traditional home, it's not that I hate it or anything, it's not just for me. I will be unhappy being married. But the child thing is bothering me, I always wanted a child, but i don't want my mental health to prevent me from loving and caring for the child. Please advise Are you in your 20s or 30s? I got attracted to make comments on your post because of your very profound self-awareness in the midst of internal chaos or anxiety. You seem to me to be a thoughtful young woman with a great personality. You have deep foresight and you're right by not wanting to give birth to children who will suffer from maternal neglect. NOTE: 1. There are credible solutions for you here... First off, watch any negative internal dialogues, and flood your thinking with positive thoughts because we live in a world of vibrational energy (cause-and-effect). Self-development, career and financial education upgrades would also boost daily self-confidence and positivity. 2. Second download a free mood music app online to keep you mentally upbeat when listening to the sounds of nature in the music. 3. Third, get to see a professional psychoanalyst at a major Federal psychiatric hospital in Lagos for instance to discover the source of your emotional anxieties. If need be, you'll be given medications to pop you up. Last but not least, It will be a great idea for you to have at least 2 biological children. There are now better ways to give birth painlessly. You won't ever regret it because kids are fun to be with. Take charge. Cheers. |

AutosBay: 3 When steering through most corners, though, it is preferable that you pull the wheel, with the hand in the direction of the corner, without pushing it. For most city corners, turning can be done by moving the wheel about 180 degrees in most cars. For this maneuver, you will have to place the pulling hand just above the opposite hand, while that hand remains stationary. Then, pull with the leading hand until it returns to where it came from at the 9 or 3 hour position accordingly. The opposite hand allows the rim to slide under it in a controlled manner. To bring it back straight, the opposite hand goes over, and then pulls back. Steering in this case should be carried out quite quickly (without turning it excessively). |

AutosBay: 1 When driving in a straight line, keep your hands at the 9:15 position: Both sides of the wheel, in the center. This will allow for optimal control, safety, "steerability" and access to controls (such as lights, signals, even a stick shift). On the road, keep the thumbs hooked inside the wheel, in their designated location, over the cross brace of the wheel or under the little "bumps" in the 10 and 2 hour positions. If you go off road, put the thumbs on the rim. Note that the grip should be just tight enough the keep the wheel under control; a relaxed grip gives less fatigue and more feedback. This relaxed but firm grip should be maintained even during sharp corners. |

Travel › Re: Fuel Jettison Procedure - This Is Why The Ethiopian Airline Pilot Dumped Fuel by AlphaTaikun: 3:59am On May 17, 2022 |
lonelydora: FUEL JETTISON PROCEDURE (also known as FUEL DUMPING)
I saw video and comments of the Ethiopian airline dumping fuel while making an emergency landing back to MMIA, Lagos. Many Nigerians said it is because the pilot concluded they will crash. Lol. Folks, that is not the reason.
For better understanding about fuel dumping, let's briefly talk about basic Airplane Weights.
1. Dry Operating Weight (DOW) - Weight of the airplane without passengers, cargo, and BLOCK (Trip, Contingency, Alternate, Taxi, Final Reserve) Fuel.
2. Payload = Weight of passengers + Cargo
3. Zero Fuel Weight (ZFW) = DOW + Payload.
4. Take Off Weight (TOW) = ZFW + BLOCK FUEL.
To avoid structural damages to the air frame and landing gear, Landing Weight (LW) must always be less than the TOW, and in order to do this, the pilot must either use his "Trip fuel" or dump the fuel. (Every airplane has Maximum TOW and Maximum LW).
So, when pilots declare an emergency, as is the case of the Ethiopian airline, it means they have to land at the nearest airport to their current position. It also means they will not be using the "TRIP FUEL" again, meaning they MUST dump fuel to reduce the weight of the airplane before landing. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO THE ETHIOPIAN AIRLINE.
More Landing Weight means more landing speed, increase in the stop margin which may lead to potential runway overrun, and more airport charges. Pilots try to avoid these things.
NOTE: There are calculations to all these, to determine how long the nozzles will be opened and quantity of fuel to be dumped, because you have to put the airplane's Fuel Burn Rate into consideration too.
Planes like Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 are not fitted with the fuel dump nozzle, so in their case, they fly what is known as "HOLDING PATTERN" so that they burn some of the fuel before landing. (If you are a frequent flyer, you must have noticed a situation where the plane is just circling the airport for minutes before landing. Yes, that is a Holding pattern). Other factors can make a plane to be in "Hold" too (I may talk on this if this post hits front page).
Also there are exceptional cases where pilots land the plane with MLW (not the essence of this post).
So, next time you see those "white stuffs" from a plane's wing tips, it means the pilot is dumping fuel. When it is from the rear of the engines, it is definitely a CONTRAIL (a whole new topic).
So Nigerians, the Ethiopian airline pilot didn't conclude the plane will crash and started dumping fuel
NOTE: This explanation here is very basic, there is more to it.
IS THERE ANY AVIATION SECTION ON NAIRALAND? True that. |
