35 years of living in the US, I have never feared for my safety as much as I do now.
Some of you don't want to hear this but I feel safer whenever I'm back in Lagos than I do here.
Every American major cities have become so dangerous that you have to think about where you are going and fo what purpose.
I generally avoid any unnecessary trips outside of my house.
Coming to Naija soon and I'm looking forward to it like a child going to Disney world.
That's the American reality.

Another mass shooting just last night in TN

https://www.yahoo.com/news/six-people-shot-chattanooga-tennessee-182801897.html

There have been more than 200 of these mass shooting in 2022 alone and we are still in MAY, some don't even make the major headlines anymore.

Having said all these, the US remains may be the only country where you can come from anywhere with nothing and start earning a very decent legal income in a short time. That's what's keeping most people here.

A Nigerian lady, Ajibola Elisabeth Junaid from Oyo State narrates how she migrated with her family members to the United States in search of greener pastures. Her family settled in Chicago, as they were all asylum seekers. It did not take long for her to discover that hardly does the American dream exist for minorities or people of colour.

She described America as a reality of racism, poverty, food insecurity and gun violence.

She is a senior student at Wendell Phillips Academy High School.

The Grenada Citizenship is the only passport among the Caribbean countries that gives you access to US after 6 months of getting the passport through the Grenada E2- visa which allows you and your family to live and work in the US and eventually become a resident later. The E2- visa is just an investment in the US with your Grenada passport that is, after you must have obtained your Grenada Citizenship in 90 days, you can then apply for your E2-Visa. Grenada has a very strong treaty with US and its citizens are being given a special preference and so can move to stay or work in US directly without any barriers.
This is one of the reasons Grenada passport is very powerful in the world. It gives you a global access to 143 countries including China, UK, India and the Schengen Countries. You can visit all these countries without a visa and stay up to 6 months. It expand your business horizon as you can travel easily around the world without limitations. Apart from the free education it offers to your kids at both primary and secondary level with low tuition fee (90% off) for tertiary level, Grenada has one of the best medical schools, St. George's named after the capital of Grenada, St.George, so for any of your kids willing to study medicine, can school there at a very low tuition fee. There's also free access to medical services over there as a citizen. No payment of unnecessary tax, no tax will be accumulated on you to pay there if you are in your home Country.
@Adenike16,
Do you have an office location with a Website and credible testimonials that show the success rate of your program.

I’ve been to Nigeria four times in my life. How people moved to Lagos doesn’t negate the fact that the country of Nigeria is unsustainably overpopulated.
1stGenAmerican,

Oh wow, that's cool! Four times visitation isn't bad at all. I have a friend who has NEVER been to Nigeria despite being in her 40s. She has an African-American mother and a Nigerian father who migrated to the U.S. in the 1970s for his University studies.

So, what Nigerian language(s) have you learned from your dad, relatives, YouTube, and on NL? smiley

Second, way too many migrate to the major cities such as Lagos, PH, FCT Abuja, Kano, etc, (which are seen as Eldorados), thereby giving the illusion of overpopulation.

If resources are properly utilised
in those states (including West Africa) that migrants are coming from, then there would have been a near-balanced spread of the Nigerian population.

That country still has huge human and natural resources (valued in trillions of USD) and has gotten to the current status because of the over-centralised or unitary system of government first introduced during the Military rule, and partly sustained by the political class at the Federal and State levels.

Decentralisation and e-Governance would lead to more disruptive innovations and value-addition of goods for key Nigerian exports.

Hope this helps.

Partner if you don't have any idea how an industry work please don't say anything. Drivers working in final mile segments of logistics make over 50k. In case you wondering what is the final mile. When goods come into a fulfillment warehouse, those Amazon, UPS, and FedEx vans you see dropping off your items at houses are called the final mile Distributing ordered items from the warehouse to your house. Now Big rigs drivers, are the drivers that transport goods from the Ports to the fulfillment warehouses those people are either Owner-operators or direct TMS drivers. Direct operators get paid per load/state segment contract. They make over 200K, I know that for a fact. TMS drivers are paid per mile driven @ 69C per mile. The TMS company, for example Werner, ODL and Summit submit load bid at $1.15 per mile, they then pay their driver @ 69c per mile. I design/write business application programs for various logistic companies. I know what I am talking about.

Don’t bring North versus South and tribalism excuses into this, my guy. Nigeria as a country is factually and unsustainably overpopulated and growing. There are more people than resources but I’m not low enough to be gleeful over this matter as you are with the subject.
Lagos isn’t in the North but it’s vastly overpopulated. The country has more people than resources.

Foreign AffairsRe: Texas Gov. Abbott Says Chicago, NYC Crime Proves Harsher Gun Laws Not Solution by AlphaTaikun: 6:47pm On May 26, 2022
Teazer4:
Abbott says 'Chicago and L.A. and New York disprove that thesis'

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Wednesday that crime rates in places like Chicago and New York City "disprove" the thesis that tougher gun laws would have prevented the mass shooting that killed 19 children and two teachers at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde.

During a lengthy press conference about Tuesday's shooting, Abbott was pressed on whether he would support "real" gun control measures in an effort to prevent another tragedy.

"I know that people like to try to oversimplify this," Abbott responded. "Let's talk about some real facts, and that is, there are ‘real’ gun laws in Chicago. There are ‘real’ gun laws in New York. There are ‘real’ gun laws in California.

I hate to say this, but there are more people who are shot every weekend in Chicago than there are in schools in Texas," he continued. "And we need to realize that people who think that, ‘Well, maybe we could just implement tougher gun laws, it’s going to solve it.’ Chicago and L.A. and New York disprove that thesis. And so if you're looking for a real solution, Chicago teaches that what you're talking about, it's not a real solution. Our job is to come up with real solutions that we can implement

According to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), the suspect in Tuesday’s shooting, Salvador Ramos, 18, legally purchased two AR platform rifles at a local federal firearms licensee, one on May 17 and another on May 20. The suspect also purchased 375 rounds of 5.56 ammunition on May 18, the ATF said.

Abbott said 18-year-olds have been able to buy semi-automatic rifles in the state for decades and that mass shootings like this are a new phenomenon.

"The ability of an 18-year-old to buy a long gun has been in place in the state of Texas for more than 60 years," he said. "And think about during the time over the course of that 60 years, we have not had episodes like this. And why is it that for the majority of those 60 years, we did not have school shootings? And why is it that we do now?

"The reality is, I don't know the answer to that question," he continued. "However, what I do know in talking to the leaders here, as well as leaders and other locations around the state, and that is one thing that has substantially changed is the status of mental health in our communities. What I do know is this, and that is we as a state, we as a society need to do a better job with mental health. Anybody who shoots somebody else has a mental health challenge, period. We as a government need to find a way to target that mental health challenge and do something about it..

No. most blacks in East Oakland are not that rich and are more like medium income blacks. Atlanta and DC is the 'Mecca' of rich and successful blacks. In CA, most rich blacks are located in southern CA ( Greater Los Angeles Area) in cities like Carson and Torrance. while cities like Oakland, Compton and Watts have a high number of low income blacks
True that... But then drug-fueled violent crimes in Atlanta is location-based.

Areas towards the South-Side of Atlanta are more prone to violent crimes, and areas to the North are where the more successful folks live and these are more secure.

I live in East Oakland, CA. Its a major city with a big sea port in northern CA and very close to San Francisco. Its a predominantly black American city with a relatively large Nigerian community. its the home of hip pop in California and great rappers like Tupac, MC Hammer, Keyshia Cole and other East Coast rappers were born and raise in Oakland, CA. The crime rate is high in West Oakland but its relatively safe in East Oakland and surrounding counties or towns. A Nigerian lady was fatally shot to death 2 years ago in Oakland. however, I think the crime rate in Oakland has reduced because a new police chief was employed by the City Mayor this year. Oakland, CA is not a bad place to live tho because it has a very high nice and friendly black population. I have never really experience act of violence personally but last year a man and his wife was shot to death closed to my house and my EX- girlfriend's cousin was also shot to death last year. The problem in America is that it is very easy to get a gun.

The cities were ranked according to crime data released by the FBI and the three indicators taken into account were: murders per 100,000 people, forcible ra.pes per 100,000 people, and robberies per 100,000 people, as these are considered the most violent types of offenses.

PoliticsRe: Imoh Umoren: "I’ve Seen More Homeless People In New York Than In Lagos by AlphaTaikun: 9:36pm On May 25, 2022
dasparrow:
You are lying! I don't know what is wrong with some of you Nigerians. America is my second home. Lived in U.S longer than I ever lived in Nigeria or in Western Europe where I was born. There are more homeless people than there are homeless shelters. I should know because I used to volunteer in shelters in the United States. And no, the shelters don't take all homeless people in or help the homeless with jobs, health insurance, etc.

There are so many Americans who are not homeless and have no health insurance coverage how much more the homeless.

Also, not all homeless people are drug addicts or people with mental health issues. Some are regular folks who lost their jobs, could no longer make rent and found themselves on the street. Most Americans are only 1 paycheck away from ending up on the street.

REAL Americans tell the truth about their country America unlike African migrants like you who stay hyping other people's country more than your own. America is on a downward spiral. Americans know this and talk about it all the time but African migrants like you will come online to lie about a country that you don't even originally come from because many of you are so thirsty for validation from Nigerians in Nigeria and want Nigerians in Nigeria to worship your azz all because you reside in America.

So many Americans are running away from America and migrating to countries in South and Central America, Asia, Australia and to Africa. Yes, you heard me, AFRICA!

Keep hyping America and don't go and fix your homeland. As a Black African, you will always be looked down upon no matter where you live on earth until you develop your homeland. America is not your ancestral land. Go and develop your ancestral land in Nigeria Africa.

TravelRe: 2013 Top 10 List Of America's Most Miserable Cities To Live by AlphaTaikun: 8:41pm On May 25, 2022
babadey:
This year forbes examined nine factors for the 200 largest metro areas in the U.S. The metrics include the serious: violent crime, unemployment, foreclosures, taxes (income and property) and home prices. They also included less weighty, but still important quality-of-life issues like commute times and weather. They also added a new measure—net migration—which they saw as a clear gauge of whether or not residents feel a community is worth living in.

Top 10 Most Miserable Cities in US

#1 Detroit, Mich.
Violent crime in the Detroit metro was down 5% in 2011, but it remains the highest in the country with 1,052 violent crimes per 100,000 people, according to the FBI. Home prices were off 35% the past 3 years, which is the biggest drop in the U.S.

#2 Flint, Mich.
Flint has been demolishing homes as the city shrinks with residents leaving in search of jobs. Only Detroit has a higher net out-migration rate. Flint ranks third worst for violent crime, behind Detroit and Memphis.

#3 Rockford, Ill.
A three decade decline in the manufacturing base has hurt Rockford's economy and kept unemployment high. The metro’s recent 11.2% unemployment rate is one of the highest rates in the U.S. Another burden: high property tax rates.

#4 Chicago, Ill.
Chicago has passionate supporters, but residents must endure the misery of long commutes, plummeting home prices, brutal winters and high foreclosure rates. The migration rate out of Chicago is the sixth worst among the 200 largest metros.

#5 Modesto, Calif.
Foreclosures continue to plague Modesto with 6,859 foreclosure filings in 2012, according to RealtyTrac. It represents 3.8% of homes, which is the third highest rate in the U.S. Recent unemployment was 15%

#6 Vallejo, Calif.
The city finally emerged from bankruptcy at the end of 2011 after nearly 3 years. Problems remain with high levels of foreclosures and unemployment.

#7 Warren, Mich.
Troy and Farmington Hills are part of the government-defined Warren metro division. Like Detroit, the Warren metro has seen home prices collapse--off 53% the past five years

#8 Stockton, Calif.
Stockton became the largest U.S. city to file for bankruptcy protection last year. The city is burdened with the highest foreclosure rate in the U.S. and ranks among the five worst for unemployment and crime.

#9 Lake County, Ill.
The Chicago suburb is one of the richest counties in the U.S., as measured by per capita income. But home prices are down 29% over the past 5 years. Other drawbacks: long commutes and lousy weather.

#10 New York, N.Y.
Taxes are always a hot button issue in New York, whether it revolves around banks paying their share or the taxes that residents face, which are the highest in the U.S. New Yorkers also rank first when it comes to the longest commutes.

Its not only Nigeria we have miserable places. So before you travel to a particular state, city or county, you should have done your assignments very well.

If you know how many Nigerian cab drivers have been shot dead in the USA in the last 30 years, you will weep. These are mostly Naija students driving cab to earn money in cities like New York, Chicago, DC, Detroit, Atlanta. They kill them like chickens in America.
Very true!

I stated exactly this fact on a travel thread about 1 week ago.

Many male and female Diasporan Nigerians aside from cab drivers have been shot dead even by AAs. Better to avoid the South-Side of American cities and white racist enclaves.
BusinessRe: 5 Business Rules That Can Make A Thinker Get Richer by AlphaTaikun: 5:30pm On May 25, 2022
deltaking2:
Someone has said “if you stop thinking you’ll start stinking” but i added that if you stop thinking you’ll start sinking. the secret of wealthy and successful business men today is not far fetch from great exercise of the mind. If you don’t put your mind to work, God won’t mind you. Just as a palm tree planted at the river side grows stress freely, is every business that lies at the corridors of idealists and great thinkers. here are five rules for great business

Find A Need And Fill It
Though i couldn’t recall the name but i know the success story of a young mind who was once working for IBM, he saw that his customers who were buying IBM computers, needed help in processing their data. he went to IBM with this idea, they said they weren’t interested so he started his own business. He eventually sold it out for $2.8billion.he found a need and he filled it. find a problem and solve it the no.2 rule is to find a problem and equally provide a solution for it. A secretary working for a small company where they produce flour began

Mixing flour with nail vanish in order to whiteout the mistakes she was making in her typing. in no time her colleagues in the office asked if she could make for them to solve the same purpose. She began it in her kitchen table. However people in other offices started asking for it and she eventually quit her job and starts doing what she knows best which is today called liquid paper. I learnt a few years ago, she sold her company to Gillette Corporation for 47million dollars. I guess she must have stressed the brain to come to this wealthy state.

Look For Solution

travel, read wide, ask questions, find a problem that everybody’s got and see if you can come up with a solution for it or find a way to supply a product or services better, cheaper and at a faster and easier way. A college boy in California once traveled to India for holidays during his long vacation. He got to Bombay and noticed the uncivilized and poverty State people were living; both old and young to the extent that they were going on bear foot. After the holiday, he came back to California but couldn’t get off what he witnessed from his mind, as he started sketching slippers sandals that would match those millions foot. in no time he came to conclusion and sold the idea to a shoe manufacturing company and they both plan and produce rubber type shoe and shipped it to Bombay and that was how his shoe business started.

Today he is the proud owner of Tom McKenzie Shoe Company, indeed, ideas rules the world.

[b]Focus On Your Customers

The fourth rule focuses on customers. Just as a child can not grow properly without a nourished nutrient, so your business can not grow well without knowing and giving what your customers want. Become obsessed with your customers. Fixated on your customer, think of what your customers wants, what they need. What they will pay for, Thomas j Watson, senior, the founder of IBM taught his people and built his company on this principle. Always see yourself as working for the customer. Once you have come up with an ideal, then start investing your time, talent and energy to get start.

See The Source Of Most Great Business.

Remember, every successful story is traceable to every discovery, most great fortune especially in America started with an ideal and with personal effort, they started with the sale of personal service, this is what is known as sweat equity. put in sweat of your brow to start your business, you can learn valuable lessons operating on a small scale. Remember, it’s a thinkers world
True that.
It's a thinkers and doers world!

There are parameters used in making choices of whom to follow. Draw down is a major example. Once he is within a certain range, he cannot blow the account.

Secondly, the advantage of this system is that depending on your fund size you can hedge your profit and loss by using 3 or more experts on your single account.

That way, even if one expert is falling short, the others are neutralising the losses. And, you can even remove the weak performer and replace with a better trader.

You are in full control and this is far better than other options.

I totally support this kind of mass wedding especially now when the economy is not smiling, the most important things is for the couples to truly love each other.

I'm a lover of private minimalist wedding ceremonies... Beach side or resort ceremonies officiated under a gazebo.

I don't personally like mass
weddings, but it serves a very useful purpose like you have in
Brazil because of the job loses.

A big congrats to them all!
InvestmentRe: How To Control Emotional Spending by AlphaTaikun: 3:28pm On May 25, 2022
TheFinance101:
Emotional spending is more common than you think. Ever bought items just because you felt stressed, angry, or jealous?

If your answer is yes, you’re most likely an emotional spender.

While mental health experts agree it could be a coping mechanism to avoid dealing with difficult situations, emotional spending could really hurt your finances in the long run.

There are steps you could take to control emotional spending.

Know Your Spending Triggers
The first key to controlling emotional spending is understanding what drives you to spend.

The next time you’re about to purchase an item you don’t need, take time to understand how you feel at that moment. Do you feel angry, sad or hurt?

By knowing what triggers you, you would be able to find ways to fight or avoid these temptations.

Use the 48-hour Rule
Waiting for a minimum of 48 hours before making a purchase is a simple but effective way to control impulsive spending.

By giving yourself time to wait, you have the chance to ask yourself if you really need that item.

More often than not, this rule allows you to be objective in your spending decisions.

Take A Break
This means deleting shopping apps on your devices, unsubscribing from emails highlighting the “best deals”, and avoiding shopping malls.

The idea here is to make spending money so tricky that it discourages you from shopping when you’re emotional.

Do a Financial Checkup
Avoid being in the dark regarding your finances.

Spending money without tracking and hoping everything balances out is the wrong way to deal with your finances.

When you carry out a financial checkup, you become aware of where your money goes. This helps you think rationally about how you spend.

Create a Budget
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with giving yourself a treat once in a while. It only becomes an issue when you continually spend based on how you feel, which leads to overspending.

Creating an “emotional spending” budget allows you to occasionally indulge while at the same time making you more conscious of how much you spend.

Final Thoughts
It’s OK to indulge yourself once in a while. However, if it turns into a habit that is continually straining your finances, it makes sense to deal with it as soon as possible.

Emotional spending may leave you feeling good at that moment, but there are healthier ways to deal with your emotions.
