Fellow Nigerians, studying in the UK is expensive. Using the student visa route (Tier 4) as a 'Japa' option will only leave sour taste in your mouth and that of others if no adequate prep.

Please do your homework and prepare adequately if you must go. Do not make the whole process and experience hard for others.

Prior to now schools ask for little or nothing as deposit and issue CAS without P O F but now, all that has changed with students unable to meet financial responsibilities and getting stranded

Prior to now, rents are required on a weekly (students accommodation) and monthly basis but in recent times, landlords/property owners now require 6 months payment and a guarantor for new occupants in some parts of UK.

No be by force to go UK o. Finland and other Scandinavian countries offer mostly tuition free degrees.
And if you are an agent, first question to ask your potential client is if financial capable to run the process.

This is not to discourage anyone. Your inefficiency @ any point in time will affect others.

After all, some folks (Doctors, Nurses, Engineers, and other professional) are good ambassadors of 9ja in US where we are recognized as the most educationally advanced people.

Most courses at the Uni of Chester for May intake are almost gone. In fact, by end of tomorrow 7th, if you are yet to get an offer, you can quickly put in for Sept.

Also, starting from tomorrow, they should start issuing CAS for the above intake

Some schools require the P O F and definitely UKVI. It has to be in the main applicant's account and not your family friend's to avoid NSF and stories.

Not all school has invoice. Sometimes, a conditional offer can have all the details on an invoice stating all conditions to be met b4 getting unconditional offer. So, whatever doc you have that states your name, student reference no and how much you should pay as deposit/tuition etc will suffice in this case

But it's a formal doc explaining in details an amount to be paid by a client or customer (in this case a potential student) and for what purpose.

No it does not increase the POF. Your P O F is calculated on a 9 months basis but your IHS will surely increase

I applied for a student visa and had my biometrics capture in July 2021, I got a refusal letter on the July 2021 and applied for a review of the mistakes on the decision in August 2021
I received a turnover from the administrative review in October 2021 and got an email to submit my passport to TLS Abuja November 2021 the said passport and TB test was dropped at the TLS Center Abuja Nigeria in November 2021

I resent my TB test as it was not uploaded when a lady called me from Pretoria in December 2021

Since then, I have been waiting to no avail and my school resumes this March 2022 I have been calling UKVI non stop and they do not have a tangible reply for me except that my review is in progress and application undergoing mandatory checks
it is over 3 months since I dropped off my passport, does anyone know what is happening

If marriage certificate is needed it means I need to get before getting my CAS from school or can I get my CAS from school without been married
I read something here that you need a letter from your spouse school to apply as a dependent

Some school might want to know how many dependants you have b4 issuing CAS and b4 forwarding your details to UKVI.
Since you already started the admission as a single person, you can notify the school @ the earliest time of a change in status.

The best time is NOW.
Start your preparation for both now. Proceed to the court to fix date and get necessary docs from them and in your form filling processes, you are as good as married. This is necessary to avoid a complex application and time-wasting visa processing.

IHS fees is dependent on the applicat's immigration status and since this forum is for student visa, the main applicant's course duration is needed to calculate the fee. When you get to that stage UKVI will let you know how much to pay.

There is a new type of passport now being issued by the NIS, they ve phased out the old type. Go to any of their offices nearest to you to find out exact amount as this differs from state to state. For the new passport, it's not less than 50k

I do not agree with you. Placement courses can help prolong ur stay as it is two years compared to a one year programme. As per securing a job, I agree when you say it can be difficult to secure a placement position but the thing is you do not only have to apply for placement or internship positions. Some companies actually employ placement students even though the jobs are not advertised as placement opportunities and then retain the students after placement. The key is apply to placement opportunities and also other graduate entry roles.

Pls read to comprehend.
Why would most people want to prolong staying with placement option when they have the graduate visa route?
Finish your studies on time and apply for GV. while rigorously job hunting.
I'm not saying placement option isn't good but it's not the no 1 go-to option anymore when it comes prolonging your stay in the U.K. right now.

In cases like this, either you are waiting for the school's conditional or unconditional offer, check their sites for number to call and call (direct or WHATSAPP) the admissions team, international office, your program or course advisor. Before you call get your student details (Student no, application reference no, name, course etc) handy and ask your questions.

Courses with placement isn't attractive to many peeps again because of graduate visa and more so, getting a place for placement is a full time job like job hunting as your school might not help or refer you unless it's a specialized course like medicine n it's allied courses

Any Uni can take it, it depends on the school, course, admission teams, and their international office.
We ve had 14 years and more given admissions and issued visa

Go to NIN's head office in your location, there is provision for whatever issue you have with your slip/NIN. It is not free though

On a serious note sha, once all supporting docs are convincing enough, they should grant the visas.

From experience, it takes time b4 conditional turns unconditional in most schools due to admissions teams' workload
Hold on and hang on, for it will surely come.

In the meantime, get other things ready as time constraint might be a thing @ some point during this processing

I have a question please, before the pandemic happened I had my transcripts sent from my university(University of Benin) to Wes Canada for evaluation, that was successful but the whole express entry thing fell apart due to the pandemic. I’m currently trying to apply to universities in UK but getting my transactions now is proving really difficult, is there anyway I can have Wes Canada send my transcripts to the Uk school’s representative here in Nigeria or if possible directly to the school in Uk?

Before asking (paying them for the service) WES to send to U.K. Schools, find out the validity period of the evaluation done for you during the lockdown.

For those of us applying to Teesside,the music has changed. I applied last year but deferred to September 2022. I got a new offer letter today, first year fees is 8500 pounds with no discount, compare to last year that 2year course is 12000 pounds after scholarship of 3000 pounds. They made it clear that your offer letter does not qualify you to get a CAS. Their school fees is now 17000 pounds with no scholarship

The music has really changed.
They probably have more than enough international students, let them be for now and they will be back seeking international students once their ratings dip

I went to the Nigeria Immigration office and i was told i won't be able to renew the passport until 6 months (June) before the expiry date. I want to kickstart my application by June which means a renewal will slow things down as i have to wait 6 weeks to get a new one. Can I apply for a Uk visa with a passport validity of 6 months or less? I want to know what minimum validity should be on your passport at the point of Visa application.

You ve 2 options - to renew now or wait till 6 months b4 expiry. Either ways, none should hold you down from moving on with your preparations.

For option 1, NIS Hdqtrs in Abuja is your only sure bet to do this.
For option 2, start your processing but make sure you give your school the new passport details whenever it's ready especially b4 the issuance of your CAS to avoid stories that touch

Some people are worried about wide study gap due to work and other factors but you are worried about little or no work experience.

With what you have (Internship n NYSC), you are good to go cos most schools want fresh grads like you for Masters
Pls apply to as many schools as possible and expect the BEST

Hello, not sure who gave you this information, but from the UK website, the process is now issuance of CAS commences 6 months to admission and got same confirmation from a UK school when i asked.

You are both correct " most schools start issuing CAS 3 months @ the earliest to any intake" while UKVI clearly states it that it's 6 months.
The question to ask is has anyone been issued a student visa 6 months to their start dates?

As you are both aware, schools have diff start dates, imagine a school still busy with Jan intakes, how would that school be attending to May intake in November or December of the preceding year?
