None of our business in South West. We shall never allow Fulani sponsored sharia in our region. |
Tyranny of the majority. |
Go Trumpyyyy! |
If you be Nigeria and dem arrest you, abeg make una come home. |
So, where are the Oyomesi? Dem for come out make the people give dem better beating. |
Tareq1105:Lukman Gbadegesin's mother is Fulani. That's why Sokoto and Ilorin went all out to support him. His100% loyalty to Yoruba land was already in doubt. |
Biodun556:There is nothing like Alaafin through backdoor. If the Oyomesi truly have the power to appoint an Alaafin, they should have done it since 2023. If they have the power, let them appoint and crown their own Alaafin. The Governor is the final authority on the appointment of an Alaafin and not the Oyomesi. The governor has made his decision and that is final. This is the time for everyone to unite and support the new monarch. Calling names and throwing accusations around will not help the situation. Again, your attempt to make it about religion is unfortunate. The Alaafin stool is not an Islamic stool. It is the throne of Oranmiyan and Sango. Anyone fro the royal household irrespective of religion can aspire to the throne. We must not allow our enemies to use religion to divide us over this matter. The overall interest of Yoruba land should be the priority and not religion. |
Tareq1105:The Sokoto Caliphate sponsored the candidate that was rejected. The Oyomesi were heavily compromised through millions of cash. The governor gave them enough time to reverse the decision and do the right thing but they refused and insisted that the candidate who is half Oyo and half fulani must be the king. The Alaafin stool is too important and critical to the overall interest of Yoruba land to be allowed to pass to a candidate that will be subservient to the Sokoto caliphate. The governor did the right thing by siding with the opinion of majority of Oyo and Yoruba people. |
Kabiyesi Iku Baba Yeye Omo Iku Omo Arun Omo Ofo! Long may you reign! |
Prostitution is not illegal. It is simply an unenforceable contract. Again, it is a multibillion dollar industry all over the world. Such a thriving industry should not be excluded from the GDP calculation. |
See him head like tortoise shell ![]() |
The fact that the hateful Obidient movement and Atikulooters have been unable to come up with a caricature video of the interview says it all. The interview was a hit back to back. I rate the interview 9/10. |
What's the werey feeling like? Prime Gani or what? |
Bunch of clowns. They are the major culprit in the exchange rate problem. They negotiate bribe in Naira and order MDAS to change it to dollars for them. |
Next time they should send the clown to prison for abuse of court process in addition to a hefty fine. N5million is just a slap on the wrist. |
Tinubu has appointed another Yoruba man from Imo state into office. |
iwaeda:You sore losers should stop the lies. Nothing went wrong with BVAS during the last presidential election. The device worked perfectly with over 90% success rate. The few places were BVAS malfunctioned, the election was repeated the following day. Not a single person voted without BVAS last year. IREV, an ordinary result viewing portal that played no role in the voting process was what malfunctioned. Even at that, the results have long been updated for everyone to view. Outside IREV, the agents of all political parties were given a copy of all the results for their own independent coalition. Exactly same thing was done in Ghana on Saturday and the losing party based on the result from their situation room conceded the election even before the official announcement. In Nigeria, two crooked opposition parties declared themselves winners without being able to support their claims with the result they collated from their own situation room. Instead of accepting defeat, they keeping lying that IREV's malfunction is why they lost. Sore and useless losers. |
It is good that RMAFC has clarified their position and we now know that they were misrepresented by the usual sensationalism of Nigeria media. However, it must be noted that RMAFC has nothing to do with VAT distribution since VAT is not a federation account revenue. VAT majorly is a consumption tax that belongs to the states. It is only centrally collected for easy collection and efficiency. The constitutional mandate of RMAFC does not cover VAT distribution. |
Soulsymbol99:See, this is just the beginning of Dele Farotimi's problem. He will be so messed up he will spend the rest of his miserable life paying hefty fines and running from one court to the other. More court cases are coming so prepare your draft for more conspiracy and invisible theory. |
Kukutente23:When did FG cite HQs of companies in Lagos? Which year was that? Are there no ports in Calabar, Warri, Port Harcourt and Onne? Are there no FG infrastructure in SE and other parts of the country? Which law or section of the constitution will FG rely on to order privately owned banks and telcos to move their headquarters to Abuja? I really want to learn this morning. |
So sad for Labour Party, they labored in vain eventually. ![]() |
Acidosis:No mind them jare. something they should have done in 60 days. |
Cheap and irresponsible blackmail will not change anything. Dele Farotimi the mad dog will be prosecuted. |
givedemwotowoto:I responded to this👇 givedemwotowoto:You started the “what if” argument and you turned around to blame it on me. Dude, I hate dishonest and disingenuous arguments. I’m done with you. |
givedemwotowoto:What if it changes to 20%? Why use an inaccurate figure to make your case when you know that the basis of computing what each state generates will change with the passage of the law? Why the false assumption? The bill is open for debate at the National Assembly. If you have a concern or recommendation, attend the public hearing and submit your proposal. That’s the process of passing a bill into law. We don’t have 20 years to start consulting with every Tom, Dick and Harry. No. That’s not how reforms are done. |
You really need to stop the propaganda against Lagos and the tax bill. You made a fundamental error in your calculation by ascribing 56% of total VAT generated to Lagos state. You can’t use the current figure to calculate using the proposed rate. The proposed law has eliminated using headquarters payment as basis for calculating VAT generated by state. It will now be consumption based and as at today, we don’t have that figure. So, your calculation is entirely wrong as it is not based on any accurate data. The above error aside, crude oil is a God given natural resources. It is God’s blessing to Nigeria and not the handiwork of anybody. VAT on the other hand is a consumption tax. The more the people of a state consume, the higher the VAT generated. All your state need to do to get more VAT revenue is to increase the consumption pattern of their states. It incentivizes economic development. Crude oil and other natural resources are different. You can’t put any effort if there is no crude deposit in your state. 13% derivation to take care of environmental pollution is more than enough compensation for oil producing states. |
Good. I trust my president, e no fit ever fold. The debate should move to the National Assembly. The public hearing is a very good avenue for all interested parties to engage and communicate their concerns. Withdrawing the bill for any consultation outside the legislative process should never be an option. |
Work don start tey tey for the road o. Well over a month. Kudos to Wike, he’s the best FCT minister so far. |
givedemwotowoto:Is River’s complaining? Is it not one after the other? VAT and oil are not the same and they are not governed by the same law. If tax reform is facing this kind of stiff opposition, what do you expect from any changes to oil revenue sharing? Beside, Rivers and other oil producing states are fully backing the tax reform. In fact, it was Rivers state that first went to court to ask for states to keep their VAT revenue by 100%. This tax reform is more like a political solution to the court case. Again, oil is a natural resources given by God and all natural resources belongs to the federation. Consumption is not God given. It is by level of economic development. You can’t compare both. |
givedemwotowoto:So what’s your argument? VAT should also be 13% derivation or oil should be increased to 60% derivation? |
givedemwotowoto:I really don’t get your point. Where in my post did I say Abia is lazy? I thought we wanted to discuss how the proposed law will affect states like Abia without bringing primordial sentiments and beer parlor argument. Abia is an oil producing state and currently gets 13% of income from all oil wells located in the state. In addition, Abia is also part of the Niger Delta Development Commission. So, I don’t understand the point or nexus between Abia as an oil producing state and the proposed tax bill. I have explained how consumption will be the basis for calculating VAT generated by each states with the company headquarter issue now eliminated. That way, every state can get 60% of what they actually and truly generated. If you have any other reasonable question, I will be willing to respond to you. |
givedemwotowoto:Calculation of VAT generated per state will no longer be based on state of payment but on actual consumption that took place in the state. That is, the fact that MTN paid through MTN headquarters in Lagos doesn’t mean all the payment will be attributed to Lagos. Data showing what each states consumed will be generated and that will be the basis of the calculation. When this is done, Abia state VAT generation will definitely no longer be N663m. It should move up very well since there are lots of trading activities and consumption that attracts VAT payment in the state. The state will then collect 60% of what they generated. Again, the purpose of the reform is also to stimulate economic growth in each states. As a governor, the new law incentivizes you to put in the needed work to expand your local economy for improve consumption because it will bring in more revenue to the state. |
