There is absolutely no need to withdraw or suspend the bill. The purpose of legislative public hearing is for public consultation and nothing else. If you are not comfortable with any section of the law, make your presentation and recommendations at the public hearing. |
Politicians simply filled up the bank with their children, relatives and girlfriends during the Emefiele era. These are folks who don't have the requisite experience and background to function optimally at the apex bank. They simply constitute a burden on the bank without any productivity. Good enough, the exit arrangement is voluntary. The people who are just their doing nothing and contributing nothing to the bank knows themselves. They can exit voluntarily now with a good exit package of be declared excess to requirement in the future. |
Kay17:Anyone other than an estranged wife. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. |
gidgiddy:You obviously don't know history. Yorubas fought IBB to the point that he had to hurriedly step aside and hand over to an interim government headed by Ernest Shonekan. Arguably the first time a military tyrant would be stepping aside voluntarily without a coup or handing over to an elected president. Yorubas made it happen. When Abachas took over, we fought him and the military government so fiercely that they had no choice than to return Nigeria to a democratic government headed by a Yoruba man. Between 1999 and now, we've produced a president for 8 years, vice president for 8 year and the current president is also a Yoruba. The North has learnt never to double cross the Yorubas politically again. So kiddo, go back home and learn your history. You Igbos are a very small fry for us if we have your time. |
owobokiri:Abacha was a military tyrant who usurped the leadership position in 1993 after Nigerians already elected MKO Abiola as the president of the country. Abiola had every right to declare himself the president because he was the one validly elected president by Nigerians and not Abacha. Again, morons like Aisha Yesufu have said severally that Tinubu is not their president because they did not vote for him, should the Federal government now charge her and idiots like her for treason? Nnamdi Kanu is currently undergoing trial for treason and you all want him release, what's the difference? |
He may be on an undercover investigation of oil bunkering when he was arrested. However, we all should wait for the outcome of the investigation before concluding. |
Going by what Ojukwu said, Nnamdi Kanu, Simon Ekpa and a lot of Obidients and Ipob apologists should be charged for treason and hanged. I can't count the number of Igbos that have called for sanctions against Nigeria simply because Peter Obi lost an election he obviously cannot win no matter the circumstances. Nnamdi Kanu without any election has severally declared himself the President and leader of Biafra Republic. Simon Ekpa named himself Prime Minister of Biafra. They even went ahead to form military force and security service outfit. The problem with folks from the SE, whether young or old is that they don't think before talking and acting. They are too consumed with whatever they think they are and as a result, are too myopic to see the bigger picture. Ojukwu was foolish as a young man and was still very foolish as an adult. Nnamdi Kanu and Simon Ekpa both had the opportunity of learning from Ojukwu's foolishness but they still opted to follow the same foolish path. The so called Obidients are not the same. Like someone said on twitter, "Omode go, agba go lafi da ile Ibo". He may not be wrong after all. |
Fastt:Took a while for someone to finally figure this out ![]() But bro, you are a very bad guy. You are the baddest and most troublesome guy on this thread. You cause trouble without attracting so much attention to yourself ![]() |
I agree fully with the position of the Appeal Court since the main evidence relied on to convict the man was provided by his estranged wife. A former and bitter wife will go to any extent to ruin her former husband. No court should rely on the evidence of such a lady in a very serious criminal case like rape. |
NSK4U:He was in Brazil last week for G-20. Upper week, the PM of India was here on a state visit. This week, he's in France on a state visit that is televised globally. Give it up dude, Mr. President is pulling his weight globally. No need hating. |
It’s so hilarious that Nairaland supermods don’t want to put this thread on front page. If it’s an APC governor from SW, this would have been on front page since. The double standard is just so obvious. |
SeverusSnape:You don’t have to be angry over everything you know. This is never about Tinubu but Nigeria. Tinubu will be president for just 4 years or a maximum of 8 and that’s all. Nigeria will still remain with her image. If the president is pulling weight on the international stage on behalf of the country, it shouldn’t be something to be angry over. Let’s see the positives and nothing else. |
DomPerignon:They are already defending him on Twitter. They said there is nothing wrong in paying N70 into the personal account of the Personal Assistant to the wife of the governor. These are the same folks that crucified Beta Edu for approving the payment of public funds into personal account of a staff of the ministry. |
Payment into private accounts in Nigeria is against the country’s Financial Regulations 2009. Agnes Chigozie Njoku, the personal assistant on logistics to the wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs Priscilla Otti, was paid N70million by the state government for what was tagged “Feeding in Government House for the period of June to September 2023”, a review of the state audit report for 2023 has showed. Payment into private accounts in Nigeria is against the country’s Financial Regulations 2009. Chapter 7, Section 713 of the regulations, provides, “Personal money shall in no circumstances be paid into a government bank account, nor shall any public money be paid into a private account.” The report also showed that N42.8 million was paid to the Deputy Chief of Staff as part payment for the renovation of the Deputy Governor’s office. The total payment of N112.8million was classified as wrong classification of expenditures in the audit report. The Constitution of Nigeria does not recognise the Office of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria nor First Lady of any of the 36 states. Earlier, SaharaReporters reported how the Abia State Commissioner for Environment, Philemon Asonye Ogbonna, also received the sum of N41.6million into his personal account against fiscal laws. The money was meant for Abia Industrial and Innovative Park at Owaza, Ukwa West local government area. This contradicts the provisions of the financial regulation 809 in the state as such payments are supposed to pass through proper vouching, documentation and due process. Another sum of N37.8 million was reportedly paid into the account of Alozie Kelechi C., a former permanent secretary in the state, and Obinna Nwaokoma, who is a director of finance in the state. Governor Alex Otti has faced increasing criticism over lavish expenditures since his assumption of office. In February, a copy of the state’s 2024 approved budget published by SaharaReporters revealed that Otti’s administration planned to spend N1.5 billion for the purchase of “two number of Toyota Hilux”. However, the governor after the report attributed the N1.5 billion budget to a software glitch generated by the Excel package used in preparing the budget document. A further analysis of the 2024 approved budget of the Abia State government also revealed that Otti allocated the sum of N5,845,000,000 for purchase of cars for himself, commissioners, permanent secretary, judiciary and Government House/MDAs. In February this year (2024), the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that the poverty index of Abia State stood at 30 percent, meaning that 30 percent of people of the state are living in multi-dimensional poverty. Earlier this month, SaharaReporters reported how residents and business owners within and around Nkwo Ngwa market in Aba, Abia State, lamented and berated Governor Otti over their flooded bad road. The residents and business owners had accused Governor Alex Otti’s administration of engaging in social media propaganda to hype his administration while "he is only patching roads constructed by the previous government." However, despite the public outcry of poverty and poor state of infrastructure in the state, and the Governor’s promised commitment to reposition the state and lift the people of the state from poverty, a review of the 2024 approved budget further revealed that Governor Otti allocated the sum of N1,545,000,000 to the Office of the Governor for, “Purchase of vehicle for commissioners, Judiciary and Permanent Secretary.” Also, he allocated a total sum of N2.8 billion to the Office of the Governor for, “Purchase of motor vehicles for Government House/MDAs.” https://saharareporters.com/2024/11/28/audit-report-shows-abia-government-paid-n70million-bank-account-personal-assistant Cc: Mynd44 nlfpmod |
Absolute rubbish sponsored by Dangote refinery to run down and discredit a competitor. This is dead on arrival. |
It’s worthy of celebration. |
richmond500:The policy is for all local refineries. |
Politics apart, Wike has performed beyond expectations as minister of FCT. In less than two years, he has outperformed the immediate past FCT minister who was in office for close to 8 years. |
We thank God President Bola Tinubu is finally changing the narratives. With our economy growing at 3.4% and the fact that we are now achieving self sufficiency in petroleum production, the worst days are definitely over for the country. We’ve flattened the curve and now on a positive growth trajectory. Kudos to Mr. President and his team for staying true to the reforms. Gradually, the results are coming out. Indeed, more than better days are ahead for the country. |
Good development. |
This is a welcome development. With our economy growing at 3.4% and this news of self sufficiency in petroleum production, the worst days are definitely over for the country. We’ve flattened the curve and now on a positive growth trajectory. Kudos to Mr. President and his team for staying true to the reforms. Gradually, the results are coming out. All arsonists deserves to die anyway. |
Ignorance, pride and arrogance rolled up into one person. I pity those who follow and believe idiots like David Hundeyin. He is so full of himself and constantly seeking attention all the time. |
patrickcollins:Very ignorant nonsense. He is saving the economy from collapse. If not for Tinubu’s reforms, the country would have crashed. He’s doing what we should have done some 30 years ago. Posterity will be kind to him for finally doing what others have ran away from doing. |
mrvitalis:Well, Bwala is doing it already so what’s your point? |
mohbadliveson:What’s wrong with being the Special Adviser to the President on policy communication? That’s a Federal Executive Council appointment and he ranks just a little below a minister. What is the point you’re trying to make again? |
He learnt the Gbajue behavior from Peter Obi.
|
owobokiri:Don’t mind him, even Peter Obi the president of Ipob on Twitter also met with Joe Biden at the G-20.
|
Elusive001:How many km? |
PulaPower:Okay that is not Tinubu. The person who met Biden at the G-20 summit was actually Simon Ekpa of Gbajue republic. Tinubu’s picture was superimposed so as to make it look like he met Biden. The shoulder says it all. Now that I’ve finally written the nonsense you want to hear, hope you’re now happy? |
Dalohad:Where were you when Mary Odili was appointed a judge and rapidly promoted to thr Supreme Court by Goodluck Jonathan? When Wike was still pro PDP and helping the party to get funny judgment against APC, did you all complain? Why the sudden complain? |
dalongjnr:They want to build a 31 miles bridge which is roughly 50km at a sum of £2billion. If we convert the rate to Naira, that’s N4.32 Trillion. By implication, they are building a km of the bridge at N86.4 billion. Lagos - Calabar is a 700km bridge. The total cost of construction is estimated at $15 billion. Total estimated cost in Naira is N25.8 trillion at the current exchange rate. By implication, we are building a km of the bridge at N36.8 billion. You are free to decide which is cheaper or not. Again, work has started on the Lagos - Calabar coastal highway. Work is yet to start on the Tanzania bridge you’re celebrating. |
