Born to a “below average “ family. The only thing that makes Xmas different from other days is that Mom do manage to offer us “Eve” those days, she’ll mix with 10 liters of water and serve us. And sometimes if she could strive to get us new “kito” sandals and a design of cloth with different animals pictures on it. It’s not been so easy growing up though but there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

If you ask the average Nigerian guy on the street or on social media forums how to attract the opposite sex, he'll simply tell you one thing, "MONEY". "Hustle make money woman go dey rush you". This is the commonly spouted phrase by Nigerian guys which in my opinion is simply wrong. Money while important is not the only way to attract ladies and while there is an element of truth to the above phrase, it's not as clear cut as is been spouted all over but its way more nuanced than is widely accepted. If as a guy you hold that kind of wrong opinion I'll question your confidence, while suggesting you see a psychologist for having a complex and also question the kind of ladies you meet. We all know the common cliche about how like poles attract yada yada but that's for another time.

Nigerian ladies do actually value money a lot when it comes to the dating scene but the truth is who doesn't. I for one don't want to be with a liability that'll drain all of my hard earned resources but would prefer someone with something tangible to offer. A symbiotic relationship would always be preferred to a parasitic one. The value ladies place on money in the nigerian dating scene is simply down to the economy of the country with Nigeria been the poverty capital of the world. A lot of people are simply trying to climb out of poverty. But the truth is no matter the need for money there are other qualities a lady would place value on when seeking someone out and if she's a decent enough lady no matter the money you have, if she's not attracted to you she's not, even if she tries to fake it. Rich guys get cheated on steady even with the money.

In the dating scene physical attraction and first impression are key. Physical attraction is just a persons ability to create a sexual desire in someone else and first impression is simply how the person perceives who you are on meeting for the first time. Every lady has her own expectations when it comes to attraction but whatever her individual expectations, it all falls into a spectrum. Ladies can definitely be hard to read, they send out mixed and sometimes confusing signals that can be difficult for us guys to read and makes the chasing game complex. And honestly it's not that bad. It’s all part of the chase, and the chase is something both men and women live for. A factor that can reduce the complexity of the situation and make it a little easier and seamless is if she finds you attractive. Attraction is a delicate approval of several qualities that ladies observe when checking you out. If they seem interested, they must like what they see on the outside at least.

One thing you must have in mind is that you can’t please everyone or attract everyone no matter what. Some ladies can be quite choosy. But if you apply these 15 ways that you might know or not know, you would fall into the spectrum of their expectations and attract more ladies. Money's important but not everything guys.

1.) Be Yourself

When some of us are attracted to someone we tend to be what we think that person would like or appreciate in order to get to them. That's not the way, been yourself is way more attractive.Let them see you for who you are, I'm not talking of bringing all your crap attitudes to the table. Most ladies can smell a fake from the Sahara, they are unfortunately better at the game than us guys and are masters at it. Trying to be someone you are not is a huge turn off. If she doesn't like you for who you are then it wasn't meant to be. Move onto the next one.

2.) Have Good Hygiene & Grooming Habits

Please take care of yourself. Shower twice daily, nobody wants to be close to anybody that reeks like a corpse, wash your body well, wash your ass. Brush your teeth twice a day and brush it well, if you have haliotosis, deal with it. Cut you hair when due, cut your nails, wash your clothes and don't wear them forever before you wash. You don't expect someone to be attracted to you when if you where not you, you wouldn't like you.

3.) Try To Look Good

Always try to look nice. Dress the way you want to be addressed. Get a nice watch, get good shoes, get good appropriate clothing, it doesn't have to be expensive. There are good looking quality inexpensive stuff out there, brand name is not everything.

4.) Smell Nice

Get a good cologne to use on yourself, let her smell you when you walk past. Don't drown yourself in it, that they can smell you miles away. Use a good body spray and or deodorant. Ladies are attracted to a nice smelling man. It leaves an impression.

5.) Speak Well

Communicating and speaking well would get you any responsible persons attention. Some of us speak only one language and can't even speak it well. That's disappointing. Improve your vocabulary. You don't need to speak in a funny accent just speak correctly.

6.) Have An Air of Mystery

Most guys tend to open up themselves too much to ladies that they are interested in. She doesn't need to know A to Z about you, especially when you don't know each other well. Don't let her know more than is necessary using your discretion. Keep your cards close to your chest, it helps. Don't make it easy for her to read you like an open book.

7.) Be Confident

You do not have to be cocky to be confident. It's a fine line between cocky and confidence. Have belief in yourself, make and maintain appropriate eye contact when speaking with ladies, speak with a firm and smooth voice. By smooth voice I mean how you would normally speak. Ladies admire a confident man, they like someone who knows what he wants and works to get it. They'll quickly lose interest if you don't appear confident.

8.) Maintain Good Conversation

Always try to start and keep the conversation going. Have something to say to topics she brings up and seem interested even if you are not. Don't make it a question and answer session. If she keeps good conversation as well you guys would go on and on. If you are able to maintain good convo and are unlucky to meet the one word reply, know nothing except trivial stuff Nigerian girl, move on bro, ain't your fault. Na so dem be.

9.) Get Something Doing

Don't be idle, sit home all day and do nothing kind of guy. Learn a skill, work on something no matter how small. Be passionate about what you do or at least pretend to, fake it till you make it right!?

10.) Have A Sense Of Humor

You have to have a good sense of Humor, feel free laugh make jokes and not be serious all the time. Some guys just can't loosen up. Learn to loosen up and live and let live. It makes you more approchable and more fun to be with. Nobody wants to be with someone that's stuck up and always serious.
