The question is what is a country like Nigeria doing amongst terrorist infested nation in the first place

If not wicked and bad government policies, Nigerians are not known as extreme people, we cruise a lot, so na who carry terrorist join us if not government.

I think someone is finally saying the right thing, Inna economic deficient nation like ours, what we need the most now is a wealth creation mechanism, this would dissuade crime, and help foster inclusiveness.

In as much as its greediness and possibly laziness aswell, but this goes to show a country devoid of oppurtunities, it goes to show the people are willing to make good investments but no avenue or notable organizations to fund.

- You go to stocks, you get N20 In some months..
- You go crypto, you loose 50% and deceive yourself it going up by 10% despite loosing 50% initially.
- You go into farming, bandits, herdsmen, kidnappers and excessive stress drain life out of you..
- You go into sales, the economy, taxes and custom duty swallow you..
- You get a job, underemployment and inflation takes care of you..
- You go into Sport bets... See you and poverty having dinner..

In all of this while you are trying investments and looking to earn some extra, you have even lost 50% on bills and living expense.. She was just trying to survive.
You couldn't have said it better
It is very painful the type of leaders we are blessed with

Creating wealth should be a major plan of any forward thinking government, that way she can control investments in the country, there are still legit platforms but it needs serious regulations

Cos some persons who might want to go overboard

But as at this moment, all our hopefuls for 2023 have not said shishi about wealth creation, which means our problems with persist at least for another four years.
Politics › Re: Osinbajo, KSA, Others At Ebenezer Obey's 80th Birthday Party (Photos) by ambale(m): 7:58pm On Apr 04, 2022
Jakumo:
Birthday greetings to Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey, who along with the ever-youthful King Sunny Ade, constitutes the rock-solid foundation of Afro-Juju guitar mastery, upon which so many more recent musical genres took root.

Chief Commander Obey's guitar-flavored Juju music provided the soundtrack of Nigeria's social life for many decades spanning the 1960s to the 1990s, just as did King Sunny Ade's wonderous syncopated guitar of many colors. No party in western Nigeria was complete without the magnificent music score of these two gifted musical titans, whose opening notes were guaranteed to bring party-goers to their feet and fill the dance floor with gyrating undulations of joy and celebration.

Chief Commander Baba, Mo bo fila lati juba fun yiin o. Emii yiin yio si gunn peluu idunnu ati ayo ni igba gbogbo.

King Sunny Ade, Anjonuu Oni Gita Arabara. Wa fi gita dawa lara ya. The secret to your fit and youthful appearance confounds and delights.

So gratifying to see these two African Juju music icons still very much alive and vibrant despite the many miles we have all traversed on this road of life.

Politics › Re: Train Attack: Senate Asks Buhari To Declare Full-Scale War On Bandits by ambale(m): 4:29pm On Mar 29, 2022
ETHICALLYrlght:
8 years ago millions of Nigerians cursed President Jonathan for Nigeria's security challenges. The position hasn't changed today, we're still cursing President Buhari.

With massive land not yet habited, Nigeria faces a scary challenge of ungoverned spaces which needs about 200,000 security personnels to fill and not less than 15 billion dollars allocation for security for the next 5 years (funds must be accounted for).

Another option is filling the ungoverned spaces with large farms, refineries, factories and research centres. However, this cannot be without long term investment in human capital development which is estimated at 300 billion dollars in the next 30 years.

"We always expect miracles as a people", an assertion which corroborates the billion dollar religious sector in Nigeria. It's not magic. It takes time.

The problem is that the government is clueless and full of mediocres. They always want to perform a quick fix and take all the glory and it ends up worse. A typical example is the Nin-Simcard linkage which the government gave 6 months deadline at first. Something that should be done carefully for 10-15 years and backed up with decent border control. It's 2022, have you heard of the Nin-Simcard linkage again? It is not impossible to register and give 200+ million people identification numbers what is almost impossible is doing it in 1 year.

An aspiring President who tells you that all he wants to do in 8 years is to end the almajiri system in Northern Nigeria and ensure that 90% of those children are enrolled in Western schools knows the solution to Nigeria's problem than the one who promises constant power supply, end to insecurity, $1-1naira in 8 years.

The former aspirant would not win with such manifesto, so we are left with the latter politicians who campaign in poetry and govern in prose.
Your postulations are very correct, but I found out that our politicians are just too lazy and are only interested in making money for themselves and their families.

Even the standard Lagos sets cannot even be called a very good standard

We have a whole lot of work to do

Government should try to formalize many more sectors and manage properly out taxation systems, Invest in trust funds, encourage community governance and many of this problems will die naturally.

1.No government has been able to eradicate crime. The Italian mafia...a bit like our bandits...are still active, and have been for over a century.

2.Eradicating banditry is going to take more than just sending in the army to beat them up.....we need things like good schools, good border control, a diversified economy, etc etc. We need changed mindsets, people doing their jobs, etc etc. All that does not fit on a campaign poster, and people want quick quick.

PS.

It is easy to defeat the bandits, but defeating the conditions that created them is another matter.
While you are right, the only difference here is that Nigerians are not known to be this violent, just some boys for area trying to obtain and do small shakara upandan, but this new trend looks imported with the touch of home boys also

Deradicalizing them will take a whole lot which this present government has not even started to look into.

In as much as it is unbelievable, 50 might not be enough in this our economy, especially in highly expensive areas, 3k is not enough for a decent stew, and if you are a guy that loves fresh food daily, you can do the calculation.

My advice is get a new source of income to cushion this effect cos it seems you and your wife loves the poch life.

Perhaps successive governments needs to start investing heavily on Education and the economy and make crime almost impossible in our society.

It will cost over $20Bn to build a refinery that will meet all of Nigeria's demand..
So how come the president was promising one each year during campaign, abi Dem no know the cost implications

In all, the more we keep importing this fuel, we would still keep being in mess.

Cognitivereason:
Many of u shouting buhari but praise US for their sanctions are completely daft and stupid...

The rise is in aviation fuel is due to crude oil price rising and the artificial scarcity created by the US sanctions..

Buhari or NNPC don't have control over any petroleum product except Gasoline...

To bring down the price..
Dollar has to come down since we import it and dangote refinery has to start working to save shipping cost..
Even at this ..the product must still sell at international price except u want government to subsidize the product too
Oga economist, what is the cost of Nigeria having a functional refinery

And what happened to creating wealth for the citizens to meet some of this demands.

backbencher:
Answer: Yes if there is no subsidy.

Refining fuel and diesel properly and to standard in Nigeria costs money. A lot of it. Maintenance, taxes, insurance, etc etc plus high cost of doing business in this country.
But at least it would still boost our economy unlike how we are boosting other countries economies and whatever affects them affects us even more than them.
Politics › Re: APC: Diesel Is Now N625! by ambale(m): 12:02pm On Mar 08, 2022
backbencher:
Diesel (and kerosene) has been deregulated since 2013. Nothing to do with Buhari, unless you want him to go into debt paying another subsidy for diesel...then we all will know he is truly and really incompetent.

I know, Buhari is bad, but this has nothing to do with the government. Just normal rise of prices of refined product when the raw material price goes up ($127 as at this am, per barrel)
If we had our own refineries, are we still going to be paying this much for diesel and fuel?
