Keep deceiving yourself until you get caught up in such awful situations. Like I mentioned earlier, my phone was stolen recently and I tracked it and the thief was arrested and slept in the police cell for four days. So this is no joke. Quality20: buying n selling used phones is a more than a business here in Nigeria o. it can't b stopped period |
Crime › Re: Woman And Her Children Arrested After Her Husband Bought A Stolen Phone (Photo) by Amberon11: 10:31pm On Jul 20, 2018 |
It took only one day for the police to arrest the culprit after it had been tracked. Infact it took only about 3 hours. If you want everything to be speedy, report the case to the police, then after tracking inform them, and I bet you the culprit could even be caught on that same day. Also, when the thief is caught , you must insist that he shouldn't be released until you get everything you spent in recovering your phone. Then you calculate every cost accrued in recovering the phone and he has to pay. Psalmpy: And how many days did it take the police to recover the phone for you? Cos I just misplaced mine recently |
Crime › Re: Woman And Her Children Arrested After Her Husband Bought A Stolen Phone (Photo) by Amberon11: 9:45pm On Jul 20, 2018 |
That was how someone stole my phone last month and I tracked it, involved the police and got him arrested, he stayed in cell for some days. Meanwhile his family kept calling and begging.
Will post the entire story soon and hopefully it grace's FP so that people can learn how to recover their stolen phones and hopefully phone theft can reduce too. |

Girl I am from Delta State and you can't know my state more than me. Look up the history of Pidgin and you'll see that it originated as a result of different ethnic groups not being able to understand each other hence needing a unifying language. Delta State is one of the most ethnically diverse states in Nigeria with at least 6 different languages. Do you then expect these people to speak their languages to one another when they obviously wouldn't understand each other? 1Sharon: I also know a few ppl from the same ethnic group in delta and they still choose to speak pidgin over their language. So all you all you wrote are excuses and you are being dishonest |

Do you not understand that our languages are 100% distinct from each other? Do you as a Yoruba hear igbo? In the same vein an urhobo person doesn't understand a word of Ijaw or itsekiri , there couldn't have been another unifying language other than Pidgin. 1Sharon: Why did you bring Fela into this convo? What's ur point. It's not just about language. You lot mostly bear English names too.
Beautiful languages but you don't want to speak it |
Travel › Re: 10 States In Nigeria Where Pidgin-English Is Most Spoken (written In Pidgin) by Amberon11: 5:50pm On Jul 20, 2018 |
Isn't Yoruba the unifying language of the yorubas? At the end of the day all yorubas understand each other but there may be slight differences whereas Niger Delta languages are totally completely different in that an urhobo cannot understand a word of Ijaw and vice versa. So Pidgin is our unifying language. 1Sharon: Exactly my point. So why don't you lot speak a unifying language like yorubas? |

Languages are not just preserved by mere wishes. Like I said nothing lasts forever and that is a fact of nature. How many physics books have been written in Yoruba language? How many chemistry, accounts, geography, mathematics, economics etc books have been written in Yoruba language? If you want to preserve your language and make sure it never gets eroded you must ensure that 99% of the books used in institutions are written and taught in Yoruba language, all media houses propagate news in Yoruba, and that Yoruba becomes the official lingua Franca of the Yoruba people. Anything other than that is a mere wish. 1Sharon: It is very deep and it is not just a language. It is about identity and believing that is worthy of being known and propagated. |

Keep calm, I certainly wasn't shaming yorubas and nor was anyone else on the thread. It is not Pidgin English alone that is eroding our indigenous languages. English language itself is slowly eroding our languages and yes even the Yoruba you think is intact isn't very much intact because at the end of the day most yorubas cannot write in Yoruba language. It's not that deep you know, it's just a language and nothing stays the same forever. 1Sharon: Let me further add and rock the boat even more:
Certain ethnic groups in Nigeria are noticing and worrying that their language is going exist. Why won't this happen when you shun ur language and favour pidgin English?
You want to laugh at Yorubas but they are having the last laugh. Because at the end of the day their language is intact
That list up there is shameful! |
