Why I established Oko Opo Foundation for widows - Dr Adeyemo, CEO, Pelican-Valley



Dr Babatunde Adeyemo is the Chief Executive Officer of Pelican-Valley Nigeria Limited, a Real Estate company.



In an interview with Great Achiever Magazine, Dr Adeyemo speaks on the establishment of Oko Opo Foundation, a Non Governmental Organisation that rekindles the hope of widows, in fulfilment of his life-long dream to give back to society.



Excerpts:



You have just come up with a new initiative called Oko Opo Foundation. Please tell us what it is all about.



The proposed Oko Opo Foundation is one of my life-long ambitions and dreams. The Foundation is a product of my personal experience about life generally.



Being a journalist who had been in the profession for almost 15 years, and had covered many people, including about four governors in Ogun State; I've covered the rich and the poor; seen the mighty fallen; seen people at the peak and the lowest part of their lives. After much thought, I've come to realise that life is vanity and I realised also that no matter the amount of money you have, it doesn't secure the future of your children because money is like spirit which you can't tie down except you invest it on institutions and people.



Look at the high and mighty in our society many years back; where are their wealth now? When they died, their wealth went with them and now you start hearing some news that you've not been hearing before. So, I realised that the only way you can leave indelible mark on the sands of time is by building people and institutions.



For instance, I've told my children that substantial part of my assets will be bequeathed to the widows, orphans and less privileged people in the society.



So, Oko Opo Foundation is a step towards walking my talk, and also a reflection of my life experience, that life itself is vanity, but while alive one should build people and institutions which I've dedicated my life to do.



Secondly, I'm the type of person that has passion for adding value to people's lives. I love being a philanthropist; touching people's lives positively, and this propelled me to establish Oko Opo Foundation.



What does the Foundation want to achieve?



The Foundation is about rekindling the hope of the widows, widowers, orphans and the less privileged people in the society.



How do you intend to achieve this?



Definitely we can't do it alone. So, we are going to establish our presence on social media where we will seek support through partnership.



Again, I've earned a lot of goodwill in real estate and in journalism; I will deploy it in Oko Opo Foundation. I will also use my proficiency and integrity in Real Estate business to gather people of likeminds, while I also lead by example.



I have some properties which I'm donating to the Foundation immediately because the Foundation has been registered.



Equally, I'm building a mini multipurpose hall which is about 98% completed, and this will be used for the activities of the Foundation.



How do you want to identify and bring together beneficiaries of this Foundation?



We are going to look at it from the angle of direct assessment. We will make the entry open to everybody. People can just walk in; they will be interviewed and submit their credentials which will be verified. From the interview, we will determine their strengths, weaknesses and opportunities that can be available for them and also their various peculiar needs.



Some of the things we will do for them are; granting interest free loans; there is a few acres of land, part of which will be made available to them for farming activities; we will also raise an endowment funds to build low income houses with modern facilities to solve the housing problems of the critically vulnerable ones.



In addition, we are partnering with one of our clients in the United States who will build old people's home to cater for the elderly people. There will be a farm market and farm Estate which will create employment opportunities for the widows and elderly people who are still agile and want to engage themselves in physical activities to keep fit and kill boredom.



In a project of this nature, finance is always very crucial. Have you reached out to people who can support this initiative and what response have you got from them?



Like I said earlier, goodwill is very important. So, I'm not perturbed about finance. We have people of likeminds around the world. Presently, I have over 1000 Nigerians in the Diaspora who have keyed into the Pelican Real Estate project. If you are known as Mr Integrity, people will not hesitate to support and join you in what you are doing.



Don't forget that I'm not doing this for money. I thank God for what He has done for me, and this Foundation is an avenue for me to give back to the society. My goodwill will surely come in handy, as people are ready and willing to support the initiative. Once you are transparent in whatever you do, people will donate generously to a worthy cause.



Oko Opo will have a strong presence online where we will be engaging people via various online programmes and they will donate willingly. Once people realise that there is sincerity of purpose, they will want to be part of the success story.



I will definitely lead by example. So far, I've spent almost N70 million on the mini multipurpose hall which is about 98% completed and very soon a very big generator will be installed there, while I've also donated five acres of land in a prime location to the foundation.



Can you speak on the peculiarity of the Foundation's logo?



Yes, the Oko Opo Foundation's logo carries a caricature image of a malnourishly dieing child with a vulture standing behind. That image depicts the present state of an average Nigerian orphan and widow, which Oko Opo Foundation is here to rescue, God willing .



How soon will the Oko Opo Foundation kick off?



We are planning to launch by September, and mostly, we are going to have so much online presence. We will organise World Press Conference and invite people of likeminds to talk, do interviews and such other things.



I'm very optimistic that Oko Opo Foundation will be a success.

Assembly Member, Oyedele decries incessant raid of customs service officers in Ipokia—Idiroko




The house of assembly member, representing Idiroko—Ipokia consistency in Ogun state has decried the incessant raid by the men of Nigeria Customs Service in their area.


According to Oyedele, The raid at the popular Iyana-Ago junction in Idiroko, by Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service is illegal, unprofessional, unethical flanked with maladroit practices and abuse of human rights.



"I am saddened by the raid which is purely an abuse of power, office and status on civilians in the face of NCS men armed to the teeth with rifles bought with taxpayers money. This is a long term modus operandi of men of the Nigeria Customs Service in my constituency which is against international best practices and will never continue." he said.

Also he said, It is on records, that Ipokia Local Government has a population of more than Two hundred thousand people (200,000), yet only 4 filling stations were licensed to sell petroleum products, with a maximum of 45,000 litres per station, approximately 180 thousands litres for 7days, this means less than 1 litre per person for 7 days. However, it’s frustrating that the little efforts deployed by our people to get fuel from as far as 35 KM for their personal uses; so as to cushion the effect of the policy is not being appreciated but rather being used as an avenue to score cheap marks by the Nigeria Customs operatives amidst extortion and bribery.

"In my enquiry into the incident, the petroleum products was seized from about Six (6) innocent women, who got the fuel and planned to take it home for use after work, one of them is into ice-block making business. She has been into this business for years, and has not derailed despite the harsh policy on her business, she confirmed to me personally that she got the fuel and put it in a store so that she can use for the next few days. It is pathetic to note that this products were seized from these struggling innocent women, who are Nigerians." he added.

He appealed to the headquarter of Nigeria Customs Service in Abuja to sanction their officers who engaged on unprofessional ethics to approach the people of Ipokia and Idiroko area.

However, he said the inglorious approach of making seizures and wading guns in the faces of our people within the community rather than being diligent with their work and manning all routes to the border properly. The Petroleum products seized from the innocent women should be released without further delay. Petroleum product are not contraband within the country.

He appealed to his constituent to carry on with their day-to-day activities, as he promised to engage the top hierarchy of the Nigeria Customs Service to see an end to this long term menaces and shenanigans of the operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service within the communities.

Ministerial slot: Ogun Central seeks equity, fairness from Tinubu

Integrity Group in Ogun has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to choose his Ministerial nominee from Ogun Central Senatorial District , saying anything against that might not go down well with the Leaders and Stakeholders of Ogun Central Senatorial District of the state.

It has become very imperative to bring to the attention of relevant stakeholders, the APC leadership, and most importantly, our revered leader and father, President Bola Tinubu GCFR, that for the sake of fairness, justice and equity Ogun Central Senatorial District should produce the next Minister from Ogun state.

The reasons are not far-fetched. Presently, Ogun East has the Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, Ogun West has the Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele. These are the two top executive positions.

The question then is Where is Ogun Central in this equation. Moreover, when considered against the background of the fact that Ogun Central has the largest voting population. A whooping 56%!!!!

It is, therefore, quite logical, reasonable, and politically expedient that the next Minister due to Ogun State should come from the Central District.

Ogun Central has eminent and highly qualified sons and daughters who are not only distinguished in their personal and professional lives but also worked assiduously for the party APC and President Tinubu in the last elections

Picking any Minister from Ogun East or West will amount to a total disequilibrium of the state’s political setup, which may not augur well for APC and our leader President Bola Tinubu who we all know to be an apostle of fairness. Also for political expediency, it should be noted that Ogun State is politically sophisticated as shown during the last Governorship election in the State when compared to the earlier presidential election.

A major real estate player in Nigeria, Dr. Babatunde Adeyemo, says he has no interest in politics and harbours no political ambition either to become a Governor or any of the elective offices.



Adeyemo who hails from Oyo State also said he is of the strong conviction that one does not have to be in politics to touch the lives of the people positively.


The Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited revealed this on Thursday while giving his acceptance speech shortly after he was inducted into the 2023 'Hall of Fame' of the notable Chartered Institute of Public Resources Management & Politics (CIPRM&P), Ghana.


The colourful induction ceremony inside The Podium, Pelican Valley Estate Laderin Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital was conducted by the Institute's representatives - Dr. Richards Aquarte (Executive Director, Operations), Dr. Sey Philips (Executive Director, Trainings & Corporate Strategy) and Mrs. Victoria (Executive Director, Admin & Correspondence) and had in attendance, many dignitaries including the Aboro of Ibeseland, Oba Oluwarotimi Oluwaseyi Mulero, and Prof. Aminu Kazeem Ibrahim of the NOUN, Abeokuta Study Centre.


The Realtor who commended the Institute for the honour, pledged an unflinching loyalty to CIPRM&P, assuring that he would not betray the trust reposed on him or on the foremost real estate firm in Ogun State - Pelican Valley Nig Ltd.


He noted that the honour brought to his consciousness once again, the conviction about himself some years ago when he would boast among his colleagues in the media profession that he could manage any Local Government in Nigeria with Zero allocation from the federal government, stressing that current happenings around him today have practically proven him right.


"To some onlookers, this conferment might sound as a possible foundation, to prepare me for a political adventure, but unfortunately, I do not pick interest in politics.

"Touching peoples lives without venturing into politics has always been a thing I have been pondering about for quite sometimes, however, after a critical reasoning, I have chosen to set up a foundation, to rekindle the hope of the widows and the vulnerable people in the Nigerian society. I strongly believe that one does not have to be in politics to touch the lives of the people," he said.

Continuing, he added that "The humanitarian foundation will be launched sometime in September, 2023 God's willing, while our presence would be positively felt aggressively, on the social media," declaring also that he would leverage on the rich goodwill earned in the real estate business and harness substantial percent of his wealth to bring succour to the widows and vulnerable members of the society.


"We are going to spend our hard earned goodwill in the real estate business and also in the long run 90% of my total wealth will be committed towards this cause and campaign. I don't need much to survive and I have also resolved to use all I have to build people and institutions, because those are the only structures that can stand the test of time.

"I want to use this occasion to reiterate the Pelican Valley Nigeria Ltd's unflinching commitment to changing the narrative of the real estate practice in Nigeria, by continuing to maintain positive business ethical standards and professionalism," Dr. Adeyemo concluded.


Earlier while conducting the formal induction and decoration of Dr. Babatunde Adeyemo as a member of
CIPRM&P's Hall of Fame and Senior Chartered Fellow of the professional institute, Dr. Richards Aquarte (Executive Director, Operations), said the honour was bestowed on the recipient in recognition of him as a phenomenal housing Icon, an investment technocrat, a man of exemplary and exceptional management skills and entrepreneurial personality who brings his management ingenuity, integrity, due diligence and resourcefulness to bear on the real estate practice in Nigeria.


Dr. Aquarte said the Certificate and other paraphernalia of the Fellowship handed down to Dr. Adeyemo automatically translate into one of the decision and policy making members of the Institute.


In their brief separate remarks, the Aboro of Ibeseland, Oba Oluwarotimi Mulero, and Prof. Aminu Ibrahim of the NOUN, Abeokuta Study Centre, commended the
CIPRM&P for singling Dr. Adeyemo out for honour, saying all the laudable attributes the organisation identified before selecting him for the Hall of Fame, were true representation of the Realtor and his real estate firm.

Meanwhile, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Monday, disclosed that the E-mobility and Gas Mobility Programme of the state will take off in the first week of August.

The governor also said that his administration would take advantage of the newly signed electricity bill that regulates the power sector by establishing a company that would generate and distribute power supply in the Gateway State.

Oludotun laud Gov. Abiodun over N1.5Billion Operational Grant to Ogun citizens

The former commissioner of Forestry in Ogun State, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun popularly known as Twinny has commended the executive governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun for rolling out the whopping sum of N1.5 Billion naira as operational grant for the artisans in the state.

Oludotun emphasised on the need for the artisans to ensure they secure the opportunity to build themselves after getting the loan from the state government.

The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has rolled out N1 Billion Operational Grant for not fewer than 1,500 Micro and Small-Scale Enterprises, selected across all the 20 Local Goverments in the State.

Speaking in Abeokuta, during the Enumeration and Vetting Exercise for beneficiaries, the Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, Who also doubles as Chairman Steering Committee for Ogun State COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Programme (OG-CARES), represented by the Project Manager of OG-CARES, Ms. Sola Arobieke, said the main purpose was to cushion the effect of the pandemics on the Micro and Small-Scale business owners.

Mr. Okubadejo stated that the initiative was also part of the efforts of Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration to eradicate poverty in the lives of the citizens in the State.

Dapo Okubadejo noted that over 16,000 applications were received from business owners in different trades, across the three Senatorial Districts of the State, revealing that the 1,500 that were captured under the 1st batch would receive the alert within 24 hours.

He said, "The exercise has been on for sometimes. The main idea of the N1 Billion grant was to serve as relief from COVID-19 Pandemics for Micro and Small Enterprises in all three Senatorial Districts of Ogun State. The beneficiaries may not necessarily be indigene, but as far as they have a business establishment in the State, they are qualified".

Commending Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, Oludotun said the people of Ogun state should expect more transformation projects which will touch lives of the people directly in second term regime.

He also called for support for from all the citizen of Ogun State for better governance through all-inclusiveness.

Furthermore, The Leadership of trade Associations, such as Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Association of Small Business Owners of Nigeria (ASBON), Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA) and Community Development Councils (CDCs) across the State, applauded the Governor for the giant stride of economic value, adding that he was being sincere with his individual prosperity agenda.

Benefitting from the grant, Artisans across the 20 Local Goverments Areas of the State and Joint National Association of Persons Living With Disabilities (JONAPWD), congratulated the Governor for the well deserved victory at the last poll, saying the victory was the reward for the better performances of his 1st tenure.

In their appreciative notes, Mr. Israel Ariyo, a boutique owner in Ijebu-Ode Local Government, and Olamide Olatunde, owner of Beauty and Cosmetics Shop in Ado-Odo, Ota Local government, posited that the grant would not only help to lessen the burden of obtaining loans from financial institutions, but also make their business to move on faster.

Also, a photographer from Abeokuta South Local Government Olawummi Okunlola, and Hon. Tairat Adebanjo, a trader from Odogbolu Local Government said the grant would be spent to acquire new gadgets and help them expand their businesses, appreciating the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration for promoting individual prosperity.

The former house of representatives, Ile-ife federal constituency, Hon. Rotimi Makinde has called on Muslims to mark the upcoming eid-el-kabir with utmost caution and the fear of God, encouraging them to continue praying for the restoration of peace to the State.



Rotimi Makinde felicitated with Muslims in Osun state and beyond for a successful completion Arafat at Saudi Arabia and wished that Allah will accept the worship and repentance of everyone.



He also urged Nigerians to remember Asiwaju Bola Ahmed in their prayers to succeed in his administration as the president of Federal Republic of Nigeria.

"I am specifically impressed with the multiple and persistent prayers from especially the clergy and other well meaning Muslims during this period for Allah to bring an end to our long standing challenge of the security situation in the state”, he added.



He urged the Muslims to reflect on the passing period of the holy month and try to sustain all the good deeds they have embraced in order to get the benefits of the special period, among which is the day worthier than a thousand months.



"This period is always a special one as it is expected that all Muslims would have been pardoned by the Almighty Allah just as everyone discarded bad habits to concentrate on finding true peace with their Lord.



"With the kind of fervent prayers offered in this holy month, we beseech Allah to listen to our prayers and shower His mercy unto us. To please our Lord, we must sustain all the good deeds we have imbibed and exhibited in the holy month pilgrimage.



Makimde wished all citizens in Ile—Ife Federal constitiency and beyond a prosperous year ahead, saying that he specially acknowledged the cooperation accorded his administration by well meaning citizens over the years, especially in his efforts at bringing a lasting peace in the state.

Former Ogun Commissioner, Hon.Abiodun Abdul Balogun Brokered Peace Between Makinde, Eniola Mark







A former Commissioner for Environment in Ogun State, Hon.Abiodun Abdul-Balogun has brokered peace between the Chairman of Oodua Fm Limited Hon Rotimi Makinde and the MD of Ojulowo Omoluabi holding company, Mr. Eniola Victor Mark.





Hon. Balogun, a friend of the two erstwhile friends intervened on the contract Saga between the duo and both have finally resolved the matter amicably.



It would be recalled that "not long ago, a social media space was awashed with a case of mistrust that resulted into wide spread vituperations between Hon. Makinde and Eniola Mark and both of them shouting mistrust over business contract and ownership of oodua fm.



Our correspondent gathered that Hon. Makinde, a former rep member who is also into hospitality business with other chains of business which acording to him also includes a Oodua fm 99.9 fm located in Abeokuta currently being managed by Mr Eniola Victor Mark,a realtor and a broadcaster who was once a manager in Sweet fm, Splash fm until he was appointed as the MD of Oodua fm in 2020 by Hon Rotimi Makinde,Eniola is the MD Ojulowo Omoluabi holding company.The heated misunderstanding however culminated into hot exchange of words on facebook, where Hon.Makinde was quoted to have insisted that he is the real owner of Oodua Fm in Ile Ife and the one very one Eniola Mark is managing in Abeokuta.















Hon. Mark contract staff, Josephine Amadi has brought the issues of a contract out in defence of his boss Eniola Mark as the basis of the crisis alledged that Makinde pocketed 27m an allegation that further arose counter defence and treath to file case.Makinde insisted that contract case is secondary even though he described Eniola as a big liar in his posts on facebook.



This claim of money or contract was refuted by Hon Rotimi Makinde as he claimed the issue was not of contract but a case of mistrust and therefore for fear of unknown act of misconduct that may drag his name to mud on the operation of Oodua fm Abeokuta.He would like to make it known thaf he is the owner of Oodua Fm and the board of the company would review their relationship .



According to him Oodua Fm Abeokuta has to stop in the meantime because he understands Mr Eniola lied to him in many ways about more so on the ownership of the building been used and that the real owner contacted him that Eniola is seriously indebted to him.



Hon. Makinde who posted his submission on Facebook after the intervention of Hon Balogun, appreciated all his friends and family who stood by him with call and text during the period also extend his appreciation to Hon. Balogun who brokered peace and aswell advised both of them on amicable solution and diplomatic way to resolve the issue with Eniola Mark in the interest of peace to reign..



Information also had it that Mr Eniola Mark has assured the completion of the project so mentioned while Makinde has agreed to also ceased fire and to stop trading words.



What however that is not clear to us is what fate await Oodua Fm Abeokuta with this malice that went too far between the two friends and more so with the undue interference by one Josephine Amadi a staff of Oodua fm Abeokuta who was already established in that tangle.



Will Hon Rotimi Makinde extend his magnanimity to let the status quo be or will Mr ENIOLA Victor Mark abadoned Oodua fm Abeokuta forge ahead with another broadcasting outfit as usual of him?.

Away from the niceties, IGP sir, allow me to bring to your notice a shameful activity in Ogun State, one of the states in Nigeria which happens to be both our states, a few weeks ago the agents of Dapo Abiodun the governor of Ogun state within the precinct of the state high court in Isabo, in full view of the police, agents of the governor made up of miscreants that he enables under some cultists and gun runners masquerading as enforces and parks and garages personal.

IGP sir, as I wrote to the National Security Adviser on the security implications of thugs running around a state governor, I am compelled to remind you that it was politicians recruiting such non-state actors in the northeast that metamorphosed into the madness that cost us human and material resources, which we are just about managing when a governor allows this, shall we in opposition raise our such soldiers of fortunes?

Do we not have enough challenges that a so-called chief security officer in the person of Gov Dapo Abiodun will now be allowed to set the state on fire, or does the office you now have authority over not see that there is a need to look into an attack on my person, the type that could have cost me my life, I have never subscribed to the idea that non commissioned layabout civilians should be encouraged to misbehave right in front of what should normally be a good number of police officers, while the police standby, made worse is the fact that the state police public relations officer converted herself into a lying liar attempting to deny what is wildly in media space.

IGP sir opposition elements in a democracy cannot and must not be brutalized by agents of Dapo Abiodun, no one has a monopoly of madness as such as I wish you to be the tiger and lion you promise.

I plead with you to impress it on Gov Dapo Abiodun and his ilks that our very fragile democracy will not yield to criminal manipulations of this nature, we must collectively do everything to ensure that this attitude is discouraged, I will be willing to furnish you the names and telephone numbers of his killer squads that you might demand from them an undertaking that this rubbish will not be tolerated under your watch.

Ogun has been peaceful until Dapo Abiodun introduced his killer squads.

*Tinubu's Presidency: Jostling for Ministerial Slots in Oyo-State, and "The Person" We Want | By Ayo Taiwo*

Firstly, let us X-ray the personae and performances of the people that were privileged to be appointed as ministers from Oyo State, since 1999. Let us compare and contrast. Let us engage in a kind of 'SWOT' analysis.

Starting from Chief Bola Ige, to Alhaji Adekunle Haruna Elewi, to Mr Remi Babalola, to Prof Taoheed Adedoja, to Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, to Barr. Adebayo Shittu, and to the last Minister opportune to represent the state, in Federal Executive Council(FEC), Dr Sunday Akin Dare; What were their inputs and contributions to the progress and development of the pacesetter state, even, the parties they, respectively, represented? Wait Ooo! This is an objective question and it does not intend to malign, or detract anybody. So, it is left for all of us, especially, my discerning readers, and entire good people of Oyo-State to judge.

Bible says,"He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous; Both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord ~ Proverbs 17:15. So, let us X-ray, without fear or favour. That is that.

Back to the business; After the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Nigeria's president, the race for who represents Oyo State in FEC has started. The Jostling for the ministership got intensified, after May 29 swearing in of President Tinubu, as people are engaging in many underground political works and serious lobbying. There are also many names flying around in media space. But, the question is that who among our Chieftains is the best to represent our great party - Oyo APC and the good people of Oyo-State, as the next minister from the State?

Indeed, I commend all the people that have represented my great state in FEC, since 1999. They have tried their best, even, if their best is not the best that their party faithful and people generally wanted from them. They have tried it,"Sha". Kudos to all Ex-Ministers. Meanwhile, as a conscientious and conscious citizen of Oyo-State, and like generality of the pacesetter state people, I and entire Oyo State citizens are interested in who represents us next, in FEC.

This is the person we want; The minister-to-be must be an astute politician that has agelong contacts, connections and relationship with the progressive party and good people of Oyo-State, generally - Youth, pensioners, market men and women, religious bodies, communities among others.

Also, he must be a good helmsman of impeccable track records and collosal contributions to the progressive tendency - party, and the state, at large.

His loyalty, integrity, capacity and acceptability among the party faithful and populace must speak for him. We need an integrous leader among us - we need a leader who understands our pains and who is ready to address it. We need a leader who is popular among Oyo State citizens and who is reliable.

APC must not make a "lethal" mistake of picking a non-political actor, unpopular politician, or low-minded stalwart that lacks integrity, capability, deepness and mental resources to unite Oyo APC, empower the party's faithful, irrespective of their tendencies, reach out to the masses, without discrimination, and hold ground for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election, ahead of 2027 general elections.

Yes, 2027 presidential election would not be a joke. People's Democratic Party(PDP) would have learnt their lessons, and been united against APC, at the centre. So, Oyo APC, and such as our party's other state chapters, especially, the states where our party does not have sitting governors, must present someone that has good antecedents and wherewithal to make the party formidable, circulate dividends of democracy to party members, appropriately, and to reach out to citizens, properly.

Yes, we need a juicy ministry, and we need a charismatic leader as minister from Oyo-State. We do not need a minister that would turn benefits under his ministry to resources meant to witch-hunt the party, or dole it out through his cronies as if it is a scheme, or slot of his personal Charity Foundation's programmes, while his acolytes would turn themselves to demigods descriminating against the already "victimised" party members and our support base.

*Before I go - Summarily, I reiterate, our next minister must be a leader with exemplary track records, unalloyed loyalty, proven integrity, unbroken consistency, fantastic human relations, and strong political experience(both at state and national levels). He must be a core party man and pro-people thinker."Let us use today to prepare for tomorrow"...Of course, I, humbly, use this medium to give kudos to all committed individuals and support groups that collectively joined hands together and massively delivered Oyo State for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the last 2023 presidential election. Thank you all and we shall not labour in vain. Definitely, all the heroes of Asiwaju Tinubu's 2023 electoral victory in Oyo state deserve commendations; It is not a day job. The victory is an outcome of an effort that spanned, at least two, or three years...Without having a sitting governor, you did it and you made it happened. Once again, I hail you all and we shall all reap the fruits of our labour.*

*Less I forgot, in Oyo-State, the efforts of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu's foremost soldiers can never be underestimated looking at the scenarios that played out in Osun state. Their efforts must be specially appreciated. So, thumb up to Asiwaju Tinubu's natural soldiers, in the pacesetter state and, once again, thank you all, the entire good people of Oyo-State, for the massive supports - Appreciations.*

As if to lend credence to this criminality the chief security officer of the state Dapo Abiodun in the most uncivilized manner has pretended that nothing happened.







Sir, I write you so that you may know that this type of activity is what lead others to recruit their militia which metamorphosed into the crisis we are just about now stemming in the northeast, it is my view that light arms and soldiers of fortunes are all over the place within our sub-region.







Please ask for a detailed explanation of this event sir and send a very clear warning to politicians especially Governor Dapo Abiodun that this rubbish will not be tolerated, while he was busy running deals in Nigeria, men like I were busy looking for how to get Nigeria to work, you may ask Mr President, that he may tell you that this democracy was fought and won at a great personal act of sacrifice.

"I have not for any reason sent anyone to attack people on land matters in Obafemi—Owode local government, the general public should disregard any rumor going around with the video where people are displaying their grievance over the death of the colleague "Yusuf Idowu Abdulkareem" who was killed by unknown hoodlums in Ogun state"

Real Estate Mogul cum Hotelier, Alhaji Mutairu Owoeye has called on all members of All Progressives Congress, APC in the state and technocrats to support the Governor, Dapo Abiodun as he has began another term of four years.

The popular land developer and estate mogul, Alhahi Chief Mutairu Owoeye has debunked the attack on residents of Kara village in Obafemi—Owode local government area of Ogun state today 9th of June, 2023.

It could be recalled that a video surfaced the internet where some women were seen crying and claiming that "Alhaji Mutairu Owoeye" and his boys invaded their village whereby killing three people and rendered many homeless.

Our correspondent when we visited Alhaji Chief Mutairu Owoeye for his reaction to the allegations of invading Kara village in Obafemi—Owode local government area of Ogun state, He denied the allegation enterily, saying none of his boys was in the area where the incident happened recently.

Also, he pleaded with the executive Governor of Ogun state under the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun to swing to action by directing the security agencies to the area of incidence to ensure the perpetrators of the evil is arrested and prosecuted in no time.

While commiserating with the family of the deceased, Alhaji Chief Mutairu Owoeye assured the residents of the village of giving the state government necessary assistance in ensuring the person(s) that unleash terror in Kara, Obafemi—Owode area of Ogun state are arrested and prosecuted.

"I commiserate with family of the deceased in the Kara, Obafemi—Owode local government attack, the news came as a rude shock and at the same time disappointing that people can accused me of unleashing terror on the people of Kara village whereby killing people.”

HND/BSC Dichotomy: Concerned NSCDC Officers Writes Tinubu, Others


Following the disparity between Higher National Diploma (HND) and University Degree holders, some concerned men and officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have called on the federal government to wade into the issue.

The group who was lamenting the ill-treatment and lack of career progression in the Corps said the disparity in the scheme of service has resulted in a lack of morale booster for holders of HND holders in the NSCDC.

It could be recalled that recently, the Federal government removed the dichotomy between degree and higher national diploma certificate holders in the civil defence, fire, immigration, and prison services.

There has been a disparity between holders of the two academic qualifications in the civil service. At the entry point, degree holders are usually a notch higher on the grade level than their diploma-holding counterparts.


But while lamenting the lack of equal treatment by the Corps, the Concerned HND holders in NSCDC said the 2012 intakes who are HND holders in NSCDC are being badly treated, compared to their mates in other Sister Agencies under the same Ministry of Interior.

" HND holders were recruited into the NSCDC in the year 2012 as Inspector of Corps rank (Grade Level 07). The same year, on the same process, NCE holders were placed on GL 07 and Bsc holders on GL 08.

"This was based on the conditions of service at that time, which was a bad indicator of suppressing some set of people instead of encouraging competency and proactiveness between HND holders and Bsc, as is found in other Sisters Agencies for effective service delivery because of how sensitive security responsibility is.


"We wrote the Confirmation and Promotion examination in the year 2014, with the Bsc counterparts, being the statutory year to be confirmed, according to Public Service Rules.

'The Bsc holders were advanced, but rather, in our case, we were not advanced neither properly placed nor promoted after passing the COMPRO exam, contrary to extant regulations


The group said in 2016, there was another replacement/recruitment exercise, and all Officers recruited then as Assistant Superintendent of Corps II (ASCII) were all given automatic promotions to the next rank while all HND holders recruited in 2012 were still in stagnation as Inspectors of Corps. (Grade level 7) till 2018.

But in 2018, the Federal Government enforced the removal of the HND/BSC dichotomy, and this order was implemented in other Sister Para-military Agencies under the Ministry of Interior since the year 2016. That, therefore, became a saving grace for HND 2012 intakes to progress to ASCII (Level in 2018


"Majority of our Bsc holders, counterparts, that we were recruited together in the year 2012, are now hanging the rank of Superintendent ( Eagle, i.e. GL 11), while up to 95% of us, HND holders of 2012 recruits, are painfully stagnated to one star( ASCII, GL 08) up till now i.e. year 2023!


"After being denied promotion exams for many years, 2022 made it the 4th consecutive year that we have been writing and passing promotion examinations, yet, without promotion!


"All other categories of personnel, including SSCE, NCE and Trade test holders have been writing promotion exams, as at when due, except the holders of the HND 2012 intake who have been variously denied for several years!

"Some junior officers that were recruited in 2012 with CAIII, GL 03, (The least rank) who later got themselves enrolled in Part-time degree programs, were not only converted to the Senior rank but also inexplicably got promoted to two-star (ASCI, GL 09), thereby placing them above us that were recruited initially with HND Certificates in 2012!


"Since April 16, 2012( 11 years down the line), when we were nominally enlisted into NSCDC, the majority of us don't know what a promotion letter looks like. Even the so-called 2016 Advancement, up till now, there is no letter issued to that effect!


"It has become an annual ritual in NSCDC that Officers from the junior cadre get converted into the Superintendent cadre, thereby creating an unnecessary and questionable shoot-up in the number of senior officers in the Corps, and also making promotion to the next rank extremely difficult, to the detriment of us that were recruited with HND certificate in 2012!


"Having removed the dichotomy, The NSCDC started upgrading both the holders of Bsc and HND of 2019 intakes together. Those who got recruited and trained in the year 2022 were decorated with one star. This means they will be hanging two stars as soon as their COMPRO results are considered, just like their colleagues in the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), are already in two stars. Without mincing words, this places us in an uncomfortable, unpalatable and unacceptable position of having to be juniors to two batches of recruits after us (i.e. 2016 and 2019 intakes)!


"Our career stagnancy after 11 years of enlistment into the active service of NSCDC is unfair and unjust. There is no gainsaying this is alien to the Public Service Rule which stipulates that officers in our cadre should have a maximum of three years before they get promoted to the next rank. We shouldn't be made to write another promotion exam this year again as we have been grossly shortchanged in the years back.


The group then called on President Bola Tinubu, the Senate President and all concerned to look into their matter and restore them to the right rank which reflects their years of service, just like the 2012 Bsc holders and HND holders in other Sister Agencies.

Ogun Tribunal: Toyin Amuzu condemns attack on PDP, wants police to fish out perpetrators


The sponsored attack by political thugs of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) on members of the Peoples' Democratic Party, (PDP) at the ongoing Governorship election petition tribunal, sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, has been condemned in its entirety, with a call on the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to direct investigations into the security lapses and fish out the perpetrators of such dastardly act.

An Egba Chief and the PDP House of Representatives Candidate in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency in the last election, Chief Toyin Amuzu who made this call, described the attack on Otunba Segun Sowunmi and other members of the party as 'a barbaric act, typical of an emperor who is loosing grip' .

Chief Amuzu said "the attack by the APC was aimed at instilling fear, disrupting the proceedings of the Tribunal, creating a siege mentality on the people and the Judiciary so as to truncate the delivery of justice in the Petition filed by the PDP governorship candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, against the manifest rigging of the Ogun State Governorship election in favour of APC candidate, Governor Dapo Abiodun.

According to him, the hoodlums were mobilized by APC leaders who are in mortal fear that the APC’s manipulations and rigging in the Ogun State Governorship election will be exposed at the Tribunal.

Chief Amuzu noted that the attack by the APC is a direct assault on the institution of the Judiciary, the Election Tribunal and a serious threat to the sustenance of Democracy in our country and dear State.

He said, it was more worrisome that the attack by the APC on innocent Nigerians occurred in the full glare of police operatives and other security agents, who made no attempt to arrest or stop the APC hoodlums noting that such scenario is indicting on Nigeria’s security authorities and this requires urgent attention.

In his words, Chief Amuzu said, "Ogun State is known for peace, civility and high standards. No one should turn the state into a theatre of war and violence. The people of Ogun State demands that those behind the attack must be tracked down and brought to book immediately".

"The people of Ogun State and the PDP will never be deterred or cowed by the APC to give up the legitimate and constitutional pursuit for the recovery of the mandates freely given to our Party in Ogun State", he said.

Chief Amuzu called on all members, supporters and people of Ogun State to remain calm but at alert and ready to use every means within the ambit of the law to resist the APC, in its plots to disrupt the Tribunal and subvert the course of justice in the matter.

National Honour CON conferment on Dapo Abiodu: Well Deserved, coming at appropriate time — Says Oludotun







The outgoing commissioner of Forestry, Hon Taiwo Oludotun has congratulated the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on his national honour of Commander of the Order of Niger (CON); describing it as a “honour well deserved and coming at the most appropriate time”

According to Oludotun "The latest national honour for Prince Dapo Abiodun could not have come at a better time as the governor would not only be inaugurated for a second term as Governor of our dear state on Monday, he we will also be clocking 63 years of age same day.”

The statement reads: “In the last three decades or more, Governor Abiodun has contributed immensely to the economic and sociopolitical development of the nation, placing him deservedly for a second national honour within ten years, having been first awarded the national honour of Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) in 2014 by former President Goodluck Jonathan.


“Prince Abiodun has given a good account of himself as an international private sector entrepreneur in various sectors of the economy, namely hospitality, security, real estate and oil and gas.

“He also served as a member of various Presidential Committees like the Presidential Think Tank set up by President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2001. He was appointed Chairman, Oil and Gas Committee of Ogun State in 2009 and served as Chairman of Depot and Petroleum Product Marketers Association (DAPPMA) from 2012 till 2019.



Dapo Abiodun, in 2018, was appointed Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) by President Muhammadu Buhari and led a number of reform initiatives that standardized and improved the business registration process in the country, leading to a higher ease-of-doing-business ranking for the country. Cabinet Re-shuffle: 'Ogun is losing it gradually' Says Segun Showunmi



Ogun is losing it. Period!!!
Lagos, Oyo and Ogun States are the only ones of the 6 states of the southwest completing the first term in a few days.

Lagos is commissioning projects to round off! I have lost count of both private-sector projects and government-inspired ones.

Oyo has done an investment summit in London and has commissioned an ultra-modern Lodge in Abuja.

Pray what is my beloved Ogun doing to round off the first term, nothing absolutely nothing.
Time was when the story was different, I have no recollection of any time in this democracy where Ogun was so uninspiring.

It is sobering and required all true-born, indigenes, residents, friends and lovers of Ogun State to not slip into indolence, to do so is to be guilty of aiding and supporting what will make the present handlers fall asleep on duty, I hate leaders who play to the gallery, and it seems that is what has become of us, there is no point crying over spilt milk, what we must plead is that we rededicate and refocus our priorities towards making Ogun State the shining light and the oasis of all things edifying.

A new cabinet will soon be put in place, if it is not too much to ask, please get a fit-for-purpose team, the type of all-comers job for the boys and girls we paraded between 2019-2023 must yield to a far better team.

I will also recommend that the helmsman be more accessible and open to ideas, looking to blame everyone else but oneself is surely not worthy of an often touted private sector experience.

Vision, Focus, Passion and Implementation will need to be scaled up.

Ogun must be re-marketed, A comprehensive reorientation program would be highly useful for we can see the social ills that have become prevalent, and must redirect ourselves in line with our pedigree, efficiency in resources utilization has become Germane as we are well aware of the state of the national debt which will certainly impact Ogun.

Governance is a serious business and must be given the seriousness it deserves.

Ogun Commissioner, Dr. Adeola Odedina Tasks Agricultural sector on need to collaborate with tertiary institutions in Nigeria





The Commissioner for Agriculture in Ogun State, Dr Adeola Odedina has tasked stakeholders in the agricultural sector and tertiary institutions on need to collaborate more in order for the country to achieve food security.

Odedina stated this on Tuesday while delivering a public lecture on " Agricultural Development and Food Security in the 21" Century Nigeria: Challenges and Prospects" at the Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State.

Odedina said that the Internal mechanisms must be put in place in tertiary institutions to prepare students for jobs and wealth creation in Agriculture .

He added that tertiary institutions should embark on visible and proven business options that is course related , coaching / business planning , relationship with industries, networking and collaboration.

The Commissioner also commissioned Grean houses and plant propagation centre in the University. He also laid the foundation for the University farm House.



According to him, "Achievers University is taking the lead in agricultural development and value chain development . The University agreed that they're going to be working with a lot of stakeholders to develop agriculture and to make agriculture attractive to young people starting from within.



"This lecture is talking about challenges of Agricultural Development , how we can solve it and how we can cope with the present challenges . Am sure, with what we've seen here with the environment and the style, they'll excel in taking the lead in agricultural development.



The Commissioner listed the challenges of agricultural development and food security to include infrastructural deficit, land issues, finances, input, technology and lack of value chain coordination .



He therefore highlighted the way forward to include agricultural education, value chain coordination, agricultural financing, international support for agriculture including project ( Special Agro Processing Zone of African Development Bank (AFDB), infrastructure, market linkage,centre for large orders , Africa continental free trade agreement).





The Acting Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Omolola Irinoye in her welcome address, said that research and innovations are needed in agriculture to drive increase food production, food that has greater nutritional value, production system that produce more food, reduce food loss and waste with less environmental damage.



She added that, assuring food security is core to achieving healthy living, reducing ill health and managing many diseases.



Her words: "Universities are challenged as source of knowledge to resolve societal challenges through innovative interventions.



Achievers University is striving to be at the fore front of collaboration with stakeholders to find solutions to the Nigeria problems in particular and globally."



Meanwhile, the Pro Chancellor of the Institution, Dr. Bode Ayorinde, explained that the problem of unemployment in the country, should propel proprietors of Universities to introduce the youth into agric economy.



He added that if the student graduate and they're distance to farming in a modern method , they have failed in their responsibilities as proprietors of Universities.



Dr Bode explained further that the mission is to introduce the students into what can be profitable beyond white collar Jobs.



His words " The community also will benefit immensely, whatever we produce here is for the community and our immediate environment .



"We'll also train thousands of students that pass through this place so that some of them can employ themselves in this type of business as they graduate from this university ."

Congratulations to Nigeria, Lagos State, and Alh Dangote on the commissioning of the Dangote Refinery!

I cannot but wonder what explanation Ogun State has for not housing that project that sits pretty within our Ogun Development Master Plan with Olokola Free Trade Zone in Ogun Waterside!

It is time to have a law that punishes economic sabotage occasioned by bad politics!

No one should be allowed to set back a state on the altar of winning an election, which more than likely has queried integrity.

No state can make a steady process if that nonsense is not punished to prevent a repeat.

The cost of maintaining Governors is way too huge a price to pay, only for the state to now carry huge consequences of their myopic tantrums.

A law must be enacted to review and punish this type of economic and development sabotage. Never again.

Thank God Dangote did not take the project outside the country, which would have provoked me beyond words.

No one must be allowed to be irresponsible at the expense of all of us.
