Public apathy will be greatly reduced if Buhari and Osinbajo are both vaccinated in public.
The Federal Government has stated that the some Nigerian States still do not receive COVID-19 treatment vaccines in the country in order to comply with the conditions for training medical personnel, national asset safety and cold chain storage, among others.

President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will receive COVID-19 publicly on Saturday to address mistrust of the efficiency of vaccines recently brought into the country for treatment of the condition.



On Tuesday 2, March 2021, the country received its first 3,92 million doses of vaccine from Oxford-AstraZeneca.



This was said yesterday in the 2nd edition of the State House weekly ministerial briefing at the Presidential Villa, Abuja by the Executive Director of National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib.

Shuaib said Buhari and Osinbajo would be given the vaccine for COVID-19 after some healthcare workers today receive it.

He also said that Boss Mustapha, Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 (PTF) and Secretary of the Government of the Federation (SGF), would also receive his first dose of vaccine tomorrow.

The first batch of over 16 million doses allocated to Nigeria by the COVAX Initiative is 3.92 million doses of the vaccine to cater for approximately 20% of Nigerians.

Nevertheless, recent studies indicate an increasing trust for COVID-19 vaccines despite public apathy, as surveys have found encouraging trends in several countries, but researchers are warning of resistance to this vaccine which could affect pandemic recovery.



A survey of thousands of people in about sixteen countries showed that in some parts of the world there seem to be an improvement in the attitude towards COVID-19 vaccines, although researchers welcome the results that suggest that a growing number of people are prepared to take it.

Director General and CEO of the Nigeria Centre for disease control (NCDC), Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, said “The concern of people about COVID-19 is not surprising, because it has been a disease with us for more than one year, is obvious. Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu said:”

“The NPHCDA has, however, worked hard to address the concerns of people through verification of information. These efforts were also supported by the NCDC.

“COVID-19 vaccine is undergoing a strict regulatory review process in Nigeria. This was done at National Level by global institutions including the World Health Organization (WHO) and NAFDAC.”

Oil futures have gone lower on Tuesday, with traders waiting for a meeting later this week of the Oil Exporting Countries Organization OPEC) and its allies that will decide how much production they will restore in the next month.

Robbie Fraser, the global research & analytics guru of Schneider Electric, stated in a market update that “crude prices are being examined increasingly as the market weighs the potential economic impact of supplies.

He stated, including the end of Saudi Arabia’s unilateral 1 million barrel daily cuts at the end of this month, “Top of the OPEC+ list is likely to continue scale back record cuts within the months to come.”

“Currently, US production will rapidly rebound from disruptions in February due to extreme winters, but longer-term output will require time to respond to higher prices,” Fraser said.

The crude West Texas Mid April CL.1, 0,58% CLJ21, 0,56% decreased 6 cents or, 0,1% to $60,58 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, but in the course of the session it was up to $61,21.

May Brent’s crude BRN00, which is 0.44% BRNK21, was down 7 cents, 0.1%, and ICE Futures Europe was down 63.62$ a barrel after the intraday high of 64.13$. The two grades were reduced on Monday.

“Much of the positive news has been already priced in,” Eugen Weinberg, Commerzbank Commodities Analyst, told a recent price action.

A survey in Reuters estimated that in February OPEC produced 24.89 million barrels per day; from January, the first monthly fall since June, it produced 870,000 barrels per day. In February OPEC+ decided to keep its output steady, while in February and March Saudi Arabia unilaterally decreased its output by 1 million barrels a day. Saudi Arabia has found that in February, production was reduced by 850,000 barrels a day.
