Local Government Council elections will
hold today in Abuja, the Federal Capital
Territory. The capital city of Nigeria, Abuja is
currently made up of six local councils,
comprising the Abuja Municipal Area
Council, AMAC, Kuje, Abaji, Bwari,
Gwagwalada and Kwali. The front runners hoping to claim victory
are candidates of the Action Congress of
Nigeria, All Nigeria People’s Party, All
Progressive Grand Alliance, Congress for
Progressive Change and United
Progressive Party. The PDP, ANPP, and ACN are producing
the highest number of candidates with
74, 82 and 62 respectively, while the
National Conscience Party, NCP, is
presenting the lowest with two
candidates. Kehinde Jubril, the Public Affairs Officer
of the Abuja Independent National
Electoral Commission, INEC, had on
Tuesday in Abuja said that 914,357
candidates registered to vote at the 3052
voting points. There are 639 polling units in 62 wards in
the Nigerian capital, while a total of 269
candidates are contesting the 62
chairmanship, vice chairmanship, and
councillorship seats in the six Area
Councils. Jubril added that 19 observer groups have
been accredited to observe the election
which begins at 8 am today

Former Chief of General Staff, Oladipo Diya and Former Chief of Staff Supremem Military Concil, and brother of the late President, Major General Shehu Musa Yar'adua received a State Pardon from the National Council of State, this afternoon, a source who attended the meeting has revealed to NaijaPundit.
Also pardoned were ex-Major Bello Magaji NA/6604, Mohammed Lima Biu, Shettima Bulama, Former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha, Major Geeneral Abdulkareem Adisa (Post Humous) and Major Segun Fadipe.
Our source revealed to us that the Council of State, which is comprised of the President, Vice President, all state governors, former Presidents, the Chief Justice of the Federation, the Senate President and Speaker, amongst others, unanimously approved the list of those pardoned today.
The Council of State meeting however was not without its drama as another list which had names of hose awaiting trial was smuggled in for discussion. The Council however rejected the list and asked that it be sent back to the duo of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Minister of the Interior.
Sources told us that the unjust trial and conviction of Diya and Yar'adua was the basis of their pardon while Alamieyeseigha was considered because apart from serving his sentence he has devoted his life to travelling amongst Niger Delta communities facilitating the peace

have finally killed my cousin. Emeka, may

kidnapped cousin, Emeka Emeniye who
was abducted by some unknown gunmen
in Imo state, early last week. Emeka, a
successful hotelier and business mogul,
was forcefully taken away by gun wielding men during one of his visits to
his 5-Star hotel in Imo State. Since then,
the Oputa family and other extended
family members have remained
unsettled. Confirming the news, a source from Charly
boy’s media organization, New Wave
Productions had disclosed that the
AreaFada called the office to confirm the
news. The source said “Charly boy just
called us to confirm why he hasn’t gotten to the office yet. He has disclosed to us
that his abducted cousin, Emeka who was

administration should offer
amnesty to Boko Haram members
and then sit down with them to
hear their grievances.
Gobir, representing Isa/Sabon Birni
federal constituency told
journalists in Sokoto that this is
necessary in the interest of the
nation at large.
“Offer amnesty to them; when you
give them amnesty, let us hear from
them. But when you say I am going
to fight you, they would say we
would defend ourselves and that’s
what these boys are doing now. Mr
President should listen to them”, he
stated.
He added, “I don’t think it is good
for Mr. President to say he would
not offer amnesty to Boko Haram.”
