Sometimes people don't understand what they are trying to claim. Don't be surprised that if Lagos State especially, reveal the state of origin of some of the infected persons, you would be shocked by the region who would have the highest number in terms of state of origin of the infected patient. AmTruth: Some Nigerians across states of the Federation are coming hard on their government on reason that they must not shut down the state because their priority now is about food and economy which is understandable but not really about the spread of corona virus in allowing their State border within or without open.
The initial case was why did the federal government failed to close the border(Lock Down) both air and land? That everywhere must be closed. All nations across the world had initial challenge in closing their boarder hence all were attacked by the Corona virus which Nigeria is not an exception to such move.
Those who were agitating that boarder must be closed(Lock Down) and blame the Federal government can now calmly understand by the reason of still them, now telling their State government that the State must not be locked down.
The Question now is this, You told the Federal government that they must Lock Down to prevent the spread or disease and now you are telling the State government not to Lock Down because you don't Care about the spread of the virus.
Reasons you are resisting the Lock Down from State government are majorly partly reasons the federal government also delayed international lock down.
Some would ask,had it been the federal government lock down early enough the virus would not have come in? But we know certainly cry that would ravage the media had it been the Short down was done early enough.
Questions like why shutdown in depriving investors coming in and causing hardship to business activities, in short some would even tribalize it by saying it's because most of our people want to come home that's why they are shutting down. Do they want people to die there. Is it not better to die at home? Ah they are depriving people to come to their father Land. In short this is Wickedness and so on and so forth.
The Truth is that the Virus is here with us today. We have to accept the lock down within our state if truly our priority is to mitigate the spread as our concerns before when the federal government delay lock down of our international border. We know it's not easy, so we should not change our priority from the spread of the sickness to the present concern now of the economic or food.
I tell you the truth, it would be worse, handling both the crisis of Food and Sickness. Inasmuch as it's not easy I admonish us to bear this little while.
Because it is easier handling a hungry family than to handle a sick family. |

Anyone that steal,Rob and commit violence as a result of hunger is simply a criminal. If hunger easily cause the above, then you would find arm robbers in most homes in Nigeria. Crime committing is about lack of moral values not hunger. It's easier to die when infected with the virus than hunger. Stay safe. You are right, Spread the word not the fear. God bless you. God bless Nigeria!!! aribs: The kind of denial and ignorance I see here is the reason why this virus wont be leaving Nigeria anytime soon. I dont understand how people will assume a country as populous with ghettos, shanties, and the danfo drivers, ferries and micras cramming people in will escape a virus like this and record low numbers. The only reason we are seeing high numbers now is because the virus has finally made it into the communities and is currently being easily transmitted and testing capacity has increased. Fact: this virus has successfully being transmitted within communities in naija. It is not going anywhere. At this rate, even pastors and imams are not safe. No one is. Social distancing cannot be over emphasized enough. Those with compromised immunity systems due to underlying conditions or the elderly should please not go out. Make alternative arrangements asap. The rest of us should wear masks , practice social distancing , wash your hands or apply sanitizers, avoid touching face with bare hands, wipe down groceries and bare surfaces before touching and limit going out and fraternizing. Stay safe for your own good. Where I live is close to a hospital and one of the most haunting scenes is seeing bodies loaded into refrigerated trucks due to morgues being overwhelmed. It is in Nigeria and our healthcare system will not save you Own your own safety and take care of your shit and spread the word not fear. Thank you |

The governors are the worse, they've zero excuses. Look at Ben Ayade, doing fashion parade with his matching face masks.
Lagos with years of insane IGR, south south with 13% derivation and other income from oil companies and higher revenue allocation than most states combined...still no decent hospitals.
Ganduje is asking for 15 billion, when he must be making that much in IGR annually if not quarterly. Instead of hospitals and schools they were busy building roads and streetlights.
Zamfara bought expensive cars for political appointees, yet they couldn't fund the war on bandits or upgrade their school systems or hospitals.
None of the former presidents and former governors and former ministers are running charities and schemes from their massive loot to help out.
Dangote's kano is burning, he's waiting for Bill Gates and his banker friends, the donation from the Dangote Group came from other philanthropists, yet the man's the richest motherfugger in Africa. Shouldn't Jack Ma be an example for these people?
Linda Ikeji? Nothing.
Our yeyebrities? Burna Boy was so tone-deaf he was showing off his cars and house, the same Burna Kanye called pledging to help out Nigeria.
Atiku gave peanuts, nothing from the Dantatas and the Yaraduas and the Borno oil dynasty...same for TY Danjuma.

I agree with you on most points, but to say the virus is not for Africa is what I cannot agree with you. Most people said initially that the weather is the reasons is not in Africa but presently the virus is much here with us. Even though the govt was not fast as some expected in closing of the borders. I think this helped and couple with the lock down too. The lock down especially didn't eliminate the virus, but I am convinced it actually mitigate the spread especially where the Lock Down was truly adhere to. Yes the govt and our health system is not yet the best, but we have to appreciate for the fair success so far. God bless Nigeria!!! Avalancheman: At that's why I am saying that we are NOT doing enough tests which is why we are still having 1900+ deaths. Otherwise, if we had done 1,000,000 tests we probably may have recorded well over 100,000 cases. Yet for all that number, we still have only 58 deaths.
Also how many of the confirmed cases are lead to death on a daily basis? How many are discharged on a daily basis? These are the questions we should ask.
Most of the confirmed cases are asymptomatic and will recover with little or no treatment.
All this bearing in mind that the virus has been in the country since January.
Honestly, Coronavirus is NOT for Africa.
Otherwise, we all would may have been dead by now. There is nothing we are doing now that could have stopped it! We just thank God for His mercies.
How dare you say US with 60,000+ deaths is better than Nigeria Are you okay How many are dying in Nigeria daily compared to US |

I think we're still safer if we put more adequate measure in terms of the lock down. Countries like US and Italy within two to three months of the first infected case had started recording hundreds or even thousands of deaths within same three months period Nigeria is presently having. Numbers of deaths is not subject to only tested cases or confirmed ones, because you don't need to be tested before you die of the virus. Deaths related to the virus cannot be hidden, ones you get infected you suffer for it if not having strong immune system. Hence if death rates not only about the confirmed or unconfirmed cases but as far as one get infected, then by your assertion the deaths rate in Lagos would be scary by now after almost there months of the first case. Yes the numbers of deaths would increase due to already infected cases but if the lock down is properly control the rate as relate the time range for first time infection would not be as high as US or Italy. I still support controlled Lock Down. Nigeria would prevail. God bless Nigeria!!! new2012: Calm down, what you wrote didn't fit in
I said 'rate' where both factors are determine by the country's figure. Its 58 in 1900+ not 100,000. Ghana has over 2k confirmed cases with 17 deaths.. A whole lot better than Nigeria.. Recovery rate, mortality rate are crazy in Nigeria using Nigeria's figures. Its worse than anywhere else. Remember the US is @60k+ death in abt a million cases. that's still a lot better than Nigeria.
Remember Lagos is already overwhelmed, which means if the numbers where 10k+ infection, all controls would have been lost. |

Kano has 2, lagos has 7, chances are SE are not even carrying out any test as we speak... again SE doesn't have a functional International Airport, Kano and Lagos both has two of the busiest in the country, so they are prone to foreigners bringing in the virus directly, while SE bound travelers get quarantines in Lagos or Portharcourt |

For the avoidance of doubt, let me explain how it works, firstly, sample is collected from suspected patient and sent to lab for confirmation. The patient is released to go pending the outcome of the result. The result takes approximately 48 hours to be out. If the result comes out positive, the patient will be contacted and duly quarantined. From the twitter post of the governor, they already have the patient's information including her residential address. What happened to visiting the address ? It is wrong exposing her confidential info and calling her out online. Her number could innocently not be reachable as a result of some certain unavoidable factors. |

To me, the federal government under President Buhari have tried her bid, even major palliative so far given to citizens across Nigeria be it Cash or food or medical supplies have been the sole responsibility of the federal government. No state government can boast of any food bank or reserve anywhere not to mention giving atleast even if it is 10k as financial support to even 100 indigene of their state. The 20k given to atleast 5000 citizens of some state across the country was done by the federal government. State government should live up to their responsibility and citizens should also question their State Governors not only the president as common. God bless Nigeria!!! ejimatic: . It gives me a lot of concern to see the spread of Covid 19 in Nigeria..I am of the opinion that it will still spread like a wild fire in this country..The PMB should jhave locked the country down again for additional two weeks but the state governors disagreed with him. They disagreed because they did not want to spend money they have on this emergency. They wanted the president to give them money for the lock down..He however asked the governors to adopt what they like in their states. Many Nigerians want to go out because there is no meaningful palliatives for them...They have been abandoned by the politicians and our leaders Covid 19 is now increasing in Oyo and other states in Nigeria. If we think it is over we are DECEIVING ourselves..Nigeria may regret lack of will to fight it logically by locking down the whole country for a week or two and giving citizens robust palliatives. We should have learned a lesson in Spanish Influenza of 1916 to 1918.. |
