This is irrelevant and last I checked, there is no government policy that prevents you or any trader from shipping goods or doing businesses in all the other ports you mentioned. People make business decisions based on where and how to transact and make money, not on where this or that or why this or that port is located?

We were told that Onitsha port will take over from Lagos and all igbo shipping and business activities will move from Lagos to Onitsha, but it was all cheap jokes because it made no business and economic sense, same goes for all the other ports you mentioned.

The industries in Lagos and industrial estates that's still powering Nigeria's industrial economy was established by the SW region under Awolowo. Please tell us the ones established by the Eastern region and Northern region that was relevant then and now?

What major accomplishments was achieved in the Northern and Eastern region when all the regions were separate and managing their economy and destiny?

Like I said, before Nigeria's independence and before oil, the SW proved it's capacity to develop based on ingenuity, good leadership with vision and foresight. it's already proven, they did it before and they'll do it again and even better.




With all the so called oil and potential in the Delta and and Rivers, why is it the way it is and why are investors not investing in the whole of that region?

Oil is not that start and end of everything.

The deputy Speaker maintained that sustenance of projects and programmes like the free education and various road project requires parents and other Imolites to support the State and local government through prompt payment of taxes.



Commending the Staff, the Legislator ask that they continue in their support to the Governor Rochas Okorocha led government by being faithful to their duties.

I know that the region contains some groups that are related to each other- that's always going to happen when you live in close proximity to another group- but what is the single thing that unites them all? Your point about them all being riverine communities is absolute hogwash btw. How can you say that every community in these states is a riverine one? Do you know the states that make up the Niger Delta?

If you believe that you have every right to speak for your region then don't complain when someone from Imo, Abia, Ondo, Rivers etc does the same for you. I don't care if you want to be the voice of all of the minority tribes there- that's your problem- but the moment you decide to speak for Igbo people living in those areas is when it becomes mine and every other Igbo person's problem and I'm referring to those both in the South-South and South-East.

It is not news that the situation of Nigeria has become critical to a point there are fears that the troubles experienced might take quite some time to be solved, hence leading to very great losses.


The recession which has been termed the worst in Nigeria’s history, tends to be bringing out the worst in many Nigerians.

One major yardstick to measure the level of debasement to which the economic situation has brought Nigerians down to, is the gross increase in sex workers within the Lagos metropolis.
A walk around the very popular redlight districts, one is shocked to see the number of ladies that are now into the sex trade, some as a full time business, while for some others, it is an avenue to make up for what their day time jobs could not give them.

One would believe that the business is really booming, hence the influx of girls into the trade, however, this is not the case.

The economic crisis which is rocking the nation, tends to have bitten into the pockets of those who patronize the ladies.

One Tina told our reporter that the business is not thriving as it used to, “things have gotten hard and prices are fast changing, we try to change our own price to soothe situations but market still no dey.”

Tina did not spare any detail, she went on to narrate how prices have so fallen, giving an analysis of how feeding has become difficult that some would stoop so low for the price of a “derica of rice” (N300).

The Oxfam findings should help build a stronger case for an increase in the federal minimum wage for many countries.

In 2014, the World Economic Forum said that widening income inequality was most likely to cause serious damage in the next decade, including a global trust crisis between the rich and the poor as corporations would most likely take the first hit.

The latest report shows that the wealth of the poorest half of the world’s population has fallen by a trillion dollars since 2010, a drop of 38 percent. Meanwhile, the wealth of the richest 62 has increased by more than half a trillion dollars to $1.76tr. The report also shows that women are disproportionately affected by inequality, as only nine women make up the list as opposed to fifth-three men.

Oxfam is calling for immediate action to tackle the inequality crisis which threatens to undermine the World Bank’s goal to end extreme poverty by 2030. The aid organisation sees the end of tax havens as an important step that can achieve wealth equality as rich individuals and corporations will no longer avoid contributing to society.

Jammeh, the former President of the Republic of The Gambia, and in consultation with the Chairperson of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, the Chairperson of the African Union and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, this declaration is made with the purpose of reaching a peaceful resolution to the political situation in The Gambia.

Donald Trump speech extracts and how it affects Africa


It isn't news avian that Trump is the president of USA.Mr Trump was officially sworn in as president by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, promising to “faithfully execute the office of the president” and “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States” to rapturous applause from his supporters.During his speech, he made some salient points and these will be looked at , we will be looking as these statements affects Africa.


“For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have bore the cost. Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth. Politicians prospered but the jobs left and the factories closed" ,said Trump


He continued "The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories. Their triumphs have not been your triumphs. And while they celebrated in our nation’s capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all" across our land.

These quote s can be described as having socialist leaning ,the president seems to look at how the larger masses will benefit from the prosperity of the country and leaving out the few elites. Will this make him people's president or will this make him a capitalist with a socialist mindset. Now,coming at a time of his new found romance with the Russians . Time will tell .

With this particular statement , those worrying about the racist statement can be rest assured that Trump isn't a racist but a patriot. He cares first for his country which is USA ,this as been proven in this economic protectionist ideology . Well, reasonable countries practises that once in a while. No country will want their local industries die while foreign one thrive. It's reasonable

This statement has placed Mr.Trump in a class of its own. It has placed him as a man that understands the concepts of "charity begins from home" . Trump will want the jobs back. We all understand that he was a business man and he knows the importance of labour . This move might mean economic protectionism as said before. But, who said protecting ones turf is a bad idea?


What is the implication of these statements to developing world like Africa? It's simple, the end of America's father Christmas is near. With the new man ,he wants USA to be first not dishing billions of dollars to countries in Africa that has refused to either account for it or judiciously use it. The time for African leaders to get their act right economically is here. Trump's speech will focus on getting USA back on track first, then will look at other things which means that government aid from USA might be reduced.
