In this covid-19 era, which embassy would be open to give you visa? The NIS never said they were traveling illegally. They said they might be repatriated on arrival in the UK, which isn't true. I know of 2 Nigerians who travelled recently without valid visa. The ravel documents they possessed were genuine and sent from the home office. One a medical doctor and the other a staff of WHO. They weren't sent back at the port of entry.
