@Ajali Ezinaihitte are Mbaise people and they speak Mbaise dialect. It is different from Owerri dialect. Owerri and Mbaise are neighbours and understand each other's dialect. |
Fun. I hope you learnt some cultural aspects of the Ndi Igbanke. such as the meanings of their common names: Okoro, Nkem, Chukuka, Ikenchuku, Nwachuku etc. I hope you also learnt about their Ezeship system. |
@Ajali: The most thing to happen to you is to learn Igbo from NdiIgbo (Igbo people) around you. Nairaland is secondary or other sources. For proper communication with your mother in-law, her own dialect should be considered. |
Nigeria and Guinea to go through. |

If the leader had died, surely, The Yorubas would have reduced Jos city to ashes. |
The Etiti division of Imo state has some of the finest streams and springs in Southern Nigeria. They are as follows: Oturugo--Umuihi. Duruimo-Ikperejere. Acha-Umueze. Ngeleocha-Amainyi/Amanze. Nze-Umuokoro Lowa. Ojii-Amainyinta. Nwogba-Amainyinta. Odere--Amanyi onuiyi Osehi--Amainyinta/Umuezeokwa Umuihi. Onuiyi nkwo-Okwuohia. Onuinyi-Okwuohia. Onuiyi afo-Okwuohia Onuiyi aja-Umulogho. Nwogba-Umuoporowerre/Isinweke. Oparaeze-Umuoporowerre. Acha-Umunumu. Etiti people, please name the rest. |
Some people believe, Oduduwa has no parents. He came directly from the sky. Some say, he created Ife with the ingredients from the sky' Some say, he is a Beni prince. Others say he is from Midwestern Igboland and his real name is Odunwa or Odudunwa. |
Sonya, with due respect, you are on your own. From day one of this thread, we have disagreed to disagree. You believe in Umunede and Ika not Ndigbo. While I believe, it is the other way round. My believe is in one united Igbo nation irrespective of dialect. |
maedan:I do not really agree with the bolded. Ndigbo are doing well commercially in West Africa. Secondly, Ndigbo with over 40 million worldwide, why will their songs in Igbo not sell?. Once again, I say it is inferiority complex. |
snowdrops:BUT ATLEAST, THEIR WIVES DO NOT BEAT THEM UP. |
Glory be to God for saving the life of the leader. If not, The Yorubas wouldn't have taken it lighthly. That could have led to another Jos crises. Glory be to God. |
Yoruba leader bombed in jos National News Feb 19, 2010 The President-General of the Yoruba Community in Plateau State, Chief Toye Ogunsuyi on Thursday night escaped death with his family as his house was bombed by unknown persons. The incident happened at about 8.30 pm. when the curfew period was already on, raising questions as to how the attackers moved into the place. A neighbor said Ogunsuyi was watching television with his wife when he suddenly heard a loud bang on his roof. He peeped outside through the toilet window and saw that his roof was already on fire. The septuagenarian quickly ran outside with his family and within minutes the whole house was said to have become engulfed by fire raising suspicion of the use of explosives. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/02/19/yoruba-leader-bombed-in-jos/ |

For all those women who suffer in silence, seek divorce and save your lives. |
Wife seeks divorce over beating 19 February, 2010 07:26:00 Geraldine Okolie Font size: The business woman Mrs. Mary Bolodeoku claimed that her husband beats her at every slightest provocation, non payment of their children school fees, embarrassment and molestation in public. The petitioner also claimed that the last time her husband visited at her shop where she sells cooked food stuffs, she was badly humiliated. She also told the court that due to the nature of his job, he returns home at anytime he wishes. Mrs. Bolodeoku amidst sobs also said that "the last time we encountered, he beat hell out of me, throwing objects at me, he almost broke my legs", hence her wanting to dissolve the union. She therefore pleaded that the custody of her two children be given to her. The respondent Mr. Gbenga Bolodeoku a commercial bus driver who plies Lagos and outside however did not consent to the dissolution of the union but rebuffed all the claims leveled against him saying "it is due the nature of my job I was absent the at the last adjournment which could have enabled me to quicken the reconciliation move", He also explained that he briefed their family lawyer who spoke on his behalf then. He however admitted that he goes to her shop to see his children and not to humiliate her in any way "it is because of my kids under her care, hence my frequent appearance at her shop". Counsel to the respondent Mr. Alex Onazi who also doubles as a friend of the family while responding to the question if he was really a friend of he family, admitted that he knows them very well, "so I thought it wise to see that the only thing I can do is to make sure that they reunite". On what steps he has been taking in seeing that the couple unites, he said wife has been intervening as well. The Court therefore advised that the lawyer’s wife be brought to the court at the next adjournment; the matter was then adjourned till 15 of March 2010. |
FL Gators:Carry time ooh, I know what you are implying. I may give it to you double. Concentrate on the topic. |
jokers we have as traditional rulers!!!! what has he done to get a become a titled chief? can't these traditional rulers do something useful and stop throwing titles around? D'banj a chief ? mchewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!
The case of Dbanj is excetional. He is worth the title. He is not a fraudulent politician neither is he a -19er. He is a young man doing what others can not do. D.BANJ, MAY YOUR DAYS BE LONG. |
FL Gators:Gators, Iam alright, but not too sure if you are alright downstairs. It is good for Ndigbo to sing in that language you mentioned. It is also good for Non-Igbo people to sing in Igbo. But it is not good when Ndigbo sing with other peoples language regardless of their own language. Anyway, am happy that there are some Igbo ones without that inferiority complex. Oh!, Bracket was in London not long ago and his show was a full house and he thrilled the audience in Igbo. |
How I wish the Obi of my community will award Dbanj an Igbo title as well. Here you have non-Igbo promoting Igboland via music when the I.D. I.O.T.I. C Igbo ones in Lagos do not do that. D.banj, OluIgbo AMAKA. |
D.banj deserves that chieftaicy title. How many Yoruba singers can sing in Igbo?. He has challenged Yoruba musicians to emulate him. On the other side of the coin, it is those shameless Igbo musicians singing in Yoruba. Inferiority complex is an infection. |
Dede1:OKWU. |
@Poster, in your conviction they are Igbo. That is what they are. The issue of ancestry does not determine whom one is in today's world. You are Yoruba isn't it?. Your ancestry points towards the mid East. Does it mean you are from the mid east?. Issue of ancestry breeds confusion and division. Most Igbo communities east of the Niger understands this very well that is why, they do not care about that. Search that your friend very well, he may not be from Onicha Ugbo. They are proud Igbo people. In Delta Igbo region, identity crises is in tiny parts of Ika and minor fractions of Ndokwa. On your friend not understand his Anioma neighbour. It is common in Igbo and Yorubaland. I understand Yoruba yet I do not understand Akoko Ondo. |
@IBOTUS: Thanks for coming here to clear the air. Your Edo people know that Ika people are Igbo people. Just a handful of them differ. |

The plan sulks. At the end of the season, players are tired, some are injured, some are sold and some are with their national teams preparing for a major tournaments. The then NFA implemeted some thing similar to this some years ago. After Iwuanyanwu Nationale had won the league that year. They had to go for a super league after 8 of their regular players that had won the league had jetted to Europe, South Africa and North Africa. Wikki tourist, won the super league and yet they finished 4th and 11 points behind Nationale that season. |
Amodu should have played him in that irrelevant third place match against the Desert Foxes. |
lbotus:There is no identity crisis in all the areas you mentioned except the first two and to a little extent the last one. |
Nairalanders, assuming there should be a debate between nairaland and Federal executive council on current trends in Nigeria. Who are your candidates to represent nairaland. As for me, they are: Eziachi. Okunoba. Richyblack. Aloy-Emeka. Beaf. Opinions please. |
Ogbuefi Sonya. An arrangement is going on at the moment by The Igbo Youths UK to supply Maths textbooks to all the secondary schools in Igboland. Secondary schools in Ika are also candidates for this books. What do you have to say?. You have ignored my questions a lot, but not this time. |
