raumdeuter:Haaland did not score against Sheffield United in the SF of the FA CUP. Maybe it is because they have very good defence.
|
Shegzdave:So what part of my post was critical of that approach? I wasn't because that was not the point. The point was to show that "being defensively strong" and "parking the bus" are often times conflated but they do not always overlap. It is oftenly overlooked here but City is a defensively strong team. Same goes for Arsenal. The difference is, when you park the bus you are basically depending on the other team to miss the fewer chances they'll get. Good luck depending on that in the league that is long drawn out. It might explain why your team does not win the league. |
WhoDeyHause:When I was scoreless how many goals were they scoring and what did they use it to achieve? You're not an Arsenal fan so there's no need laughing at you. Imagine being proud of not winning the league because you did not lose a game. Can never be City. |
Ansalid Is hands. ![]() Comic relief. |
Shegzdave:By this I assume Arsenal have won the league recently? Okay, they've at least beat City at the Etihad? No? That's what I thought. And let me use this opportunity to point something out. There is nothing tactical about parking the bus. If you park the bus, the opposing team will have less chances to score. Not zero chances but fewer than normal. This information will come in handy soon. |
raumdeuter:Haaland should have dribbled past 9 players to score to prove he does not ghost in big games because 17 goals in 25 matches against Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern etc. Is scoring against small teams with weak defenses. Even when they cannot point out 1 chance his team created for him that he was supposed to score from. But but but...go to the thread of perrenial losers and you'd see some people claim that the difference between City and Arsenal is ....wait for it...Haaland. Comic relief. |
spillo1:Inter parked the bus and had 2 people on him all game. What was he supposed to do in City's set-up? |
raumdeuter:You might be right but I think Pep was boiling today and Arsenal will face the brunt. The quick substitutions for Savinho (I understand KdB is injured) and the fact that Erling missed the chance to score 100 in 104 games means he has to do it against Arsenal to replicate Ronaldo's record in RM. So there's motivation everywhere. Rodri is getting back to match fitness. Same as Foden who will have more time to practice with Savinho against Arsenal game etc. I feel like the motivation is brimming. Arsenal fans made too much about not losing to City last season and we did not forget. They're a strong team no doubt but I don't expect them to be better than Inter were today, on Sunday. |
Amigoss:City will win by 2 goals. No matter how you slice and dice. The Inter game all but guaranteed that. |
airmark:I said so based on what I have read and know. Can the person you are quoting vouch the same? Seems people don't know the number of companies the EPL is accusing of perjury by these charges? Etihad, Deloitte, EY to mention a few. Good luck believing all these companies conspired to lie for City for the meager amounts being discussed. LOL |
Amigoss:Inter was the perfect preparatory match vs Arsenal. Plenty to learn from. I expect City to win the Sunday game comfortably. 3-1 or 2-0 sought of scoreline. |
Give this man his ballon d'or already.

OkpaNsukkaisBae:The worst aspect is, the Biden-Harris White House put pressure on $META to censor any news regarding the Hunter Biden Laptop knowing full well that the story was true. They even got 51 FBI agents to swear under oath that it was all "Russian disinformation". Nobody has been punished till date for this. I cough in election interference. So tomorrow when any Mgbeke feeling funky starts quoting FBI said, CIA said, MSNBC said. . .they should understand why any well-meaning person will never take them as anything beyond bumbling clowns. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:They cannot respond to themselves na. ![]() |
Office hours. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:People argued here that Russia destroyed their own pipeline. I've read some of the most bafflingly e-diotic comments ever on this thread. I'm still in recovery. The propaganda feels like voodoo. It is the Orwellian denying the evidence of one's eyes. |
airmark:No, I am not trying to bandy words with you airhead. I am showing that your arguments are infantile. Ill-thought, simplistic and easily shredded. I'm hoping to save others from going down the blackhole of your abject way of thinking. And the intelligent people on this thread have been poking holes at your arguments and guffawing at you. ![]() |
popizaino:I feel like you are not getting to the depth of the matter. Can any team win a game 0-0? There is no need for the non-starter arguments. Just like winning a game 1-0 does not mean the winner set out to only score one, same way losing 1-0 does not mean the team set out to ONLY not concede. Teams set out to WIN. That is context 1. Next, when I speak about context, it is because you cannot isolate 1 instance to draw a grand conclusion. You have to look at the argument from a body of work. CFCs defense (NOT NECESSARILY DEFENDERS) was the problem. Defense comprises of but is not limited to the defenders. It is the system in place as well. Maresca complained about the high line from last season for example. I don't want to have to break this down further as I am avoiding a long post. I trust you get me. |
airmark:20-0 in 1 game is still just 3 points. Same as 20-19. For your big chances argument to stand you have to demonstrably prove that you missed them in multiple games + that you defended well enough to not concede more than you scored before comparing with Arsenal's achievements. Do you know why? If you missed 2 big chances against Arsenal when they walloped you 5-0. You still deserved to lose the game regardless of the big chance. Let's say you then missed 20 big chances against Tottenham but still won 4-1, it means you still got the 3 points deserved in that game. An unsophisticated thinker can just bring hurriedly compiled stats and say Chelsea missed 22 big chances in 2 games which should have been 6 points if we took our chances. Have you seen now that that person will just be waffling? Talking nonsense like you are doing? "I watched the games" is not a layered way of thinking. Do better. |
airmark:How can you tell that the big chances created were not in games Chelsea still won? Why do you always make hollow and vacuous arguments? |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:Exactly what I thought. Imagine Tinubu creating a phantom war with Chad and declaring that there will be no elections in Nigeria till after the war. That's democracy you know. US will send billions to support such a democracy. |
grandstar:Let me be honest, that debate that day offended my soul. Not in Trump's defense, but simply because I felt like people were trying to pull wool over my eyes. There are just some things that should not be argued. Kamala Harris is insufferably unintelligent. Have you seen her trying to explain Venn diagrams? Sheesh. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:Correct me if I am wrong (as you are more knowledgeable in this than me). Did Ukraine or Russia ever formally declare war? If no, then the constitution argument can be thrown in the bin. That is LAWMA material. |
Ghostagain:It is always best to ignore democracy whenever it is not convenient. Imagine if Putin makes an argument like that. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:You have time. Like I was going to ignore Ukraine's constitution and start whatabouting what obtains in another sovereign nation. When they tell people to stop guzzling and regurgitating BS from legacy media they won't listen. The legacy media will always make their proponents look asinine because a house built on lies won't hold for long. Do you remember when Russia was accused of destroying their own Nordstream pipeline until Germany arrested one of the culprits and we started reading that it was actually Ukraine that did so regardless of being warned against doing so by the CIA. Buahahahahahaha. Yet same CIA is still doling out cash to Zelensky till date. They know the fools that will believe them though. Dem plenty for this thread.
|
LordAdam16:This has always been my stance. The double-standards and virtue signaling. Imagine defending Zelensky but feeling justified to hate Putin. Calling a millionaire turned billionaire dull, but defending a cackling buffoon that cannot string a coherent sentence - even claiming they are intelligent. Talking Jan 6 (BullSheet by the way) but ignoring the obvious coup against Biden by his party. Haba. |
raumdeuter:Airhead is the master of non-arguments. Telling us you need someone better than Jackson is a prime example. As if there are 1000 Haaland's available and CFC settled for Jackson. Telling us you have to outscore your opponent to win like any team can win a match 0-0. I come here to laugh most times. |
popizaino:Why would City need 1 goal to win a game that they were losing by 1 goal? Take your time to UNDERSTAND before typing. Arsenal had the best defence last season and conceded 2 goals in some games (At home to Aston Villa comes to mind). Having a good defence does not mean NEVER conceding. Just like having a good attack does not mean ALWAYS scoring. That goes for your Bayern argument. Take your time to understand CONTEXT before typing. Your team scored 77 goals last season. Historically, such teams finish top 4. But you conceded 60+ or so, which is reserved for sub 15 teams. Your issue was never MAJORLY in attack. It was in defence. That is what the stats are saying. One needn't be a rocket scientist to figure this out. It is rudimentary. |
nateevs:Gbam. |
larride:You need to outscore your opponent to win ANY game. It is a non-argument. It was never being argued here. It was, what is the MAJOR source of CFC's problems from last season? Airhead said attack. Tim said defense. O ti tan. |
Unlimited22:It is not even about being guaranteed goals to score. First half was a draw simply because Wolves responded to every goal CFC scored. Second half Chelsea scored 4 unreplied goals. If it played out like the first half, it would have been 6-6. The attack still had Jackson, Noni and Palmer - players that were here last season. They produced 2 goals in the first half (which was enough for Arsenal to defeat Villa yesterday). The only problem in that first half? The defense conceded 2 goals. But the attack is the problem per the Citadel. |
FBS:Did CFC sign a new striker? Which of your attackers (by the time you started pumping all those goals) was signed this season that was not here the previous season? Don't join Airhead in his mumu argument. |
