raumdeuter: This is how teams fail to take chances against Madrid every time
That's why I can never take any analysis seriously that praises this RM for anything other than their mentality. I saw Leipzig do this against this RM this season yet here they are in the finals.
No be only outdoner na overdone food. You are comparing a former carry along with a star starter. Abeg doesn't Palmer also have the so called titles as well, which one doesn't he have?
Where was Foden when Palmer was staring in those preseason finals. It's okay never said Palmer was better, but you see Bellingham, he sits on Foden morning afternoon evening and night.
Everything Foden can do, Bellingham can do. What Bellingham can do, Foden cannot do.
After many years on the bench in the same team, same manager , competition and club he final becomes a starter you want to compare with Bellingham that took a trophyless Madrid to two titles already and almost a treble.
Where was Foden when Madrid played City?
Buahahahahahaha.
1. Bring their player ratings when RM played City. Let us see who did what. 2. Bring Bellingham U-17 Golden ball. 3. You know Foden already has 2 YPOTY awards right? 4. You know he has already been voted EPL player of the year - does Harry Kane have that? 5. I can list more but just naming only the heavy hitters. All th academy awards Foden won - Smellingham, Palmer and Kane don't have and will never have. 6. Then you said Palmer has the same titles Foden has. No he doesn't. Foden broke into City team at 17 lol.
Foden the carry along was supposed to start over who in the the City team you people claimed was bought with billions? Will Bellingham, Kane or Palmer have broken into City when Foden did? Lol.
By the way, Foden was never competing with Mahrez or Doku (lol). Foden plays RW from time to time because he could not bench KDB. Guess what? KDB will bench every single midfielder in the world as well.
BlueAngel444: so injured foden resulted in treble but fit foden to barely winning the league
Continue didn't Pep sign Doku who plays RW as well after Mahrez who was benching Foden left.
When you say you guys oga focus on what you are replying, don't know what or who you had conversations with
Again, stick to one argument. Foden played LW, RW and every other position Pep needed him to play because KDB was playing his desired position and KDB and Haaland took priority in terms of team structure. Don't worry, every single player in RM and CFC will take a backseat to both players - not just Foden.
When both players were injured and many people here said City were going to lose the league to Arsenal or Liverpool, why did that not happen?
BlueAngel444: I agree with you when you say Foden is a bit ahead of Palmer but not saying form is temporary class is permanent, abeg which class is Foden?
What has been Fodens main position prior to this season. It's the first season he isn't a bench player and star substitute. 2022/23 Saka was better, even the season before, so which class does Foden have. For you to be using that narrative
Which class is Foden?
Foden has already outdone Harry Kane at his current age before he turned 24. Foden has won everything individual in England before he turned 24. Foden already has 6 EPL titles- more than Wayne Rooney!
Just settle down and compare him objectively to your smellinghams etc. He was already a golden ball winner at U-17 category. Why don't the better players have that since they are better?
BlueAngel444: Wasn't Sancho even rated along with Saka better than Foden. Now Foden now has class. It's good that he stepped up this season if not city for even sell am
You guys should make up your mind.
The best player in the academy was always Foden. That is the player Txiki and Soriano had been raving about to Pep even before he was signed. You guys are now claiming Pep basically let his better players leave to keep Foden yet Pep is still winning the league. LOL
Foden had a whole period he was out last season due to his appendix and Pep will not upset chain of command to play him as a 10 when KDB is fit and playing.
airmark: The financial fraud perpetrated in 2016 through 2023 (during Fraudiola's period), gave them the power and advantage to sign players in the team to edge other teams in quality in depth. The proceeds of such fraud (trophies), should never be hailed.
Meanwhile, apologize for this shameful lie below as the charges cover Fraudiola's period in Man City.
Why not 2009? Why did the fraud not allow City the advantage to sign Pep in 2016?
I told you, you are just typing whatever comes to your mind. Some of the FFP accusations come from purchasing Brahim Diaz to City academy. Paying Roberto Mancini through a different account. Those are the things that gave Pep an advantage in 2024. Clap for yourself.
In case you need reminders
1. Leaked/Hacked emails concerning City in 2014. About transactions circa 2009-2014. 2. UEFA summon City - City refuse to comply. UEFA charge City 2015.
Case gets re-ignited 2018.
This is the source of the English FA's case. City are not cooperating with the FA and will only tender evidence to an independent adjudicator like they did with the UEFA case.
That is majorly what the all charges of City not cooperating are from 2018 till date. Again, nothing to do with Pep. Shameless airhead.
airmark: Apologize for being a shameless liar with this post below.
In your desperate quest to treacherously shield Fraudiola, you succeeded in nailing him to the cross. I supplied the nails though (list of the charges).
You're silly. You supplied list of charges but won't point to the 1 aspect related to the manager? Why is it hard?
So was Pep the manager in 2009 or why are you not mentioning all the City managers from that time if timeline = manager during timeline?
airmark: Your records on this platform have shown that you are not a responsible person. The BBC report below is just a reconfirmation.
The only mischievous and shameless person here is you.
Your lack of education will always betray you. What part of your post has to do with Guardiola?
Don't try to be stupid. He is still the manager right? So why would his 2023 title be in jeopardy if that timeline you presented means 2009-2018 = Guardiola
Before you waste anyone's time with your lies. The timeline with regards to City managers SPECIFICALLY mentions Roberto Mancini.
Use your brain you won't. Someone must spoon-feed you every time.
nateevs: Except this is purely singular opinion and not entirely representative of real life.
Tell us why you think teams have a designated penalty taker if every player has equal XG.
If you have 5 boys and 5 girls, the probability of selecting a boy at random is 0.5 regardless of if the boy in question is short or tall or white or black.
I'm simply saying if you take all the penalties taken as denominator and use penalties scored as numerator, the probability you'll get will be ~ 0.8 to represent every player. That is how it was arrived at.
Amoto94: This is what I have been explaining to him in plain English but he's using maths to argue blindly Palmer takes the PK because he knows how to take it not because xg says pk has 0.8 probability of it being converted
He did not say Palmer takes it because it has 0.8 probability but that because it has an 80% probability of going in, a player will usually get 8 goals out of 10 penalties taken. In other words, that there is nothing so fantastic about Palmer's numbers because 9 of those goals came from a chance that any average player was likely to score from than miss in 10 tries. Ederson would have had at least 9 goals to his name if he had to take 11 penalties for City for example.
nateevs: Not jumping on this argument but this is bad deductive reasoning. Every player has a dedicated penalty taker for a reason. And the reason is that said player offers XG of 0.8 scoring the goal.
But statistically, this is just one player from a squad of 26. This XG does not translate to more than 1/26th of each sample size. Therefore your extrapolation is wrong.
If you are to measure approximate XG per player in each squad, average XG per squad may drop down to 0.2, making it the generally acceptable XG for penalties across the board.
I think this is being overanalyzed.
xG is entirely probabilistic which means it is based on the likely outcome/possible outcome (for all penalty takers in the sample size). That number just means any player has an 80% chance of scoring from it.
I know you are full of mischief but I want to nip this in the bud so that when City are cleared off all the charges you won't mislead other members of your citadel on another "City cheated" campaign.
The charges levied at City are from 2008-2015. Nothing to do with Pep or his time at City.
ThierryJay: You have a point but the difference is that then, only the big teams with the best players could play possession based football.
Now, mid-tier teams with average players are able to play possession based football and do the high press and this is where Pep's influence trumps that of Cryuff and co.
Pep copied Cryuff just as much as Doku can say Neymar is his footballing idol. Those who watch them keenly will know they don't play the same way AT all. I usually dismiss all those "Pep copied blah blah" as simplistic nonsense - depending on the context or who was saying it.
For the gazillionth time (not to you obviously), Pep does not play "possession" football or "total" football. He plays POSITIONAL football and he tweaks it every season. In fact, you can't watch Barca 2008-2012 and compare with this City if you are looking for similarities as you'd barely find it. People still have a hard time reconciling this truth.
hensben: Where is Foden below. Foden na benefit boys forget long story. [s]Man city did better last season and Foden wasn’t the best player. Pep wanted to prepare Palmer to replace either KDB or Silva in that attacking midfield role because of his vision from distance without needing to run but Palmer can not wait for them to be sold so had to leave for Chelsea[/s].
I don't understand this list and how it plays any role. Is Palmer the top EPL scorer? Top assist provider? So what is the point of this list?
But Manchester City won the league this season abi? Scored more league goals this season? Got more points? And Foden was City's most impactful player abi?
hensben: Did Rashford has more man of the match than Halaand like Palmer against Foden.
Rashford scored 17 league goals and assisted 5. Erling had 36 league goals alone (remove the 5 or more assists he also had). You say Rashford deserved the award.
Foden had better stats than Rashford by the way (and one of them did not play penalties). You said he was less impactful. Yet his team won the league. What else can define impact?
hensben: Winning epl with lecester city is more honorable than with city sighting both teams budget and quality of players. Mahrez did better with leicester city winning the league thana foden with city.
It is more honorable? Exactly. Mahrez' season was more honorable than Palmer's yet when he came to City he was average. Same with Palmer. Bang average for City because players like Foden were better than him.
hensben: Statistically Palmer had a better season than Foden. Mahrez season with leceister winning the league was more impactful to that of Foden's.
Foden also had a statistically better season than Mahrez so how did you define the impact?
Both players won the league but Foden scored and assisted more than Mahrez. You say Mahrez had more impact but when it comes to Palmer you remove impact and talk stats. Should Watkins not be the one making the stats argument?
hensben: Mahrez season with Leicester winning the league is better than that of Foden this season. Palmer is PFA fan player of the season, won match of the season against Man U, had more man of the match, goals and assist than Foden.
Which means Mahrez season is better than Palmer's because Foden's season was better than Palmer's or how did you come to your conclusion about Mahrez season? Did he score more than Foden etc?
Olie Watkins had more assists and non-penalty goals than Palmer too. Did you forget that part?
hensben: We are talking of this season you bringing under 17 like Palmer didn’t win under 21 euro championship. Are you aware Palmer is PFA fan player of the season, in other words, fans think Palmer is the best player this season.
Palmer won U-21 Euro as the best player?
PFA Fans player of the year? Who won that award last season? Who won it the season before last?
Stop wasting my time with frivolities. You've never cared about such useless awards until a Chelsea player won it.
hensben: Mahrez was the better player when you compare both seasons they won epl best.
Yes Mahrez' was better than Palmer's season at CFC but then came to City and saw how average he was. Then you want to compare standing out for City vs standing out for a useless CFC team. Does that make any sense?
hensben: Foden won Palmer with slim margin even when his team won the league what does that tell you. Everyone keep saying Palmer lost because his team mate didn't do better, not because foden was better than him. Statistically and eye test Palmer edge Foden. football is not lawn tennis so a tree can not make a forest.
Everyone keeps saying what?
Which team helped Foden to win U-17 world cup for England? What about when Foden was winning YPOTY for City. Did Palmer not play for the same City and manager? Why did he not win it too with the same team Foden had?
hensben: With or without Foden city will still win the league, e.g, if it foden that got injured instead of Halaand city will still win the league. Last season city won treble and Halaand swooped everything individually and competed for ballon d' or where was Foden.
hensben: It doesn't make foden better, time and chance happen to everyone. City is a settled team already, with or without Foden they will still win the league, for example it was foden that got injured instead of Halaand city will still win the league. Last Halaand swooped everything where was foden, they even won ucl and treble.
Time and chance did not happen to Palmer?
City is a settled team? Settled how? How can you say City would have won the league without Foden when Foden is adjudged the best EPL player? Do you know what that means or are you just talking your usual rubbish?
Chelsea would have finished 6th without Palmer. After all, you were still bottom half for most of the season even with all Palmer's goals. One can even say that it was the likes of Cucurella's new role and Enzo being out that helped your team much more than Palmer. See how that argument works?
hensben: What concerns VVD to foden vs Palmer. When you nor see talk again you bring in another player. Foden and Palmer are both attackers, playing same position so it is a fair argument. Palmer beats Foden in all metrics; eye test, goals and assist and number of man of the match awards on match days. Foden won best player due to injury to Halaand at some point, if not, Halaand actaully dominated man of the match award for city on match days like Palmer for Chelsea.
Wait.
Goals and assists did not matter for VVD right? Cool.
If Goals and assists are fair game. I assume Palmer had 19 non-penalty goals right? And those goals helped his team win the league right?
Because you said Foden won because Haaland was injured. So that means, even with a handicap, Foden elevated his team to a higher level abi? When Foden's striker was not playing, Foden still went on to decide games for his team abi? And his team was the best team?
hensben: At the emboldened, it shows you are using sentiment instead of fact. goals and assist Palmer beat foden, number of man of the match too yet foden beat Palmer in everything lol. Foden played more minutes than Halaand is the reason he won it, nothing else. when Foden was sharing minutes city still won the league so what are you saying. City is a settled team already so it is nothing new. Chelsea boguht most of their players this past season with a lot of injruies what do you expect? to compete with that condition. Halaand dominated city's man of the match award on match days, foden won due to injury to Halaand at some point. Foden was in the team last season when Halaand swooped everything. Statistically, Palmer did better than Foden, has more man of the match than him on match days.
So Foden playing more minutes is why City won the league right?
I'm wading through the absolute bunkum you have up there so I won't make a long post. I can also post the numbers but you won't understand it - clearly.
Palmer wanted to go on loan and Pep said to be sold fully or stay with the team. Palmer left and City won the league again.
Do you remember Mahrez? Palmer has not had a season like Riyad's (one of them won the league as the best player on his team). That Mahrez was a small fry at City yet the big shot at Leicester. Then compare to Foden that stayed back in City and distinguished himself while there.
hensben: Oh now goals and assists don't matter anymore. I can count five games foden wasn't the best player on the pitch man city still won. Go check how many man of the match award Palmer won for chelsea and how many other city players like KdB, Halaand, Alvarez and Rodrigo won for city. https://www.premierleague.com/man-of-the-match. Foden was just a poster boy because he featured more than Halaand and KDB due to injury to those two.
What goals and assists mattered for VVD when he won EPL player of the year?
Start from somewhere. You are talking all over the place.
