He does but for his midfielders first and foremost as he believes this is the base of any team. Some build around their defense and others their attack.

This is the reason most people were excited by Doku's performance, doesn't necessarily mean Doku is a better player.

Truth is, the only real difference between pre City and post City Grealish is that he was more central but given freedom to drift left or right whereas in City it looks like he was instructed to stay left. Other than that, Grealish's game has not changed. He was never stats heavy although I also agree that he had runners ahead of him whereas in City, we do not play with flying wingers so apart from Haaland that runs in behind, Grealish will be forced to protect the ball and wait for his other midfielders to join in the attack. And even that is not a Pep thing. Pep has gone from Razza and Leroy Sane, to Grealish and Riyad and Doku and Bernardo Silva etc. Pep simply tweaks his style to accommodate the personalities and skillset of his players.

If you needed additional proof, you can see that Doku never looks hesitant to shoot even though he is not very good at it. Yet Grealish is extremely hesitant and would rather sell a foul or recycle possession. I think the player's confidence also plays a role in it. And when a player is down on confidence, they'll simply try to make the least mistakes hence why you think Pep changed his style.

I'll look for a link of an analysis made by someone on YouTube showing that Jack's style has not really changed. People just feel that a player purchased for £100M should be scoring loads of goals and assists otherwise he is a flop. I don't think that is right even if I agree that Jack should be doing more.

All of a sudden Saka is getting a lot of 1 v 1 with the LB for Switzerland because his 10 is moving and ensuring the ball moves for easy isolations.

What this game needs now is for Declan Rice to grow a pair and start passing the ball into the channels rather than the unimaginative pedestrian sideways passes he keeps making. He can copy Maino sometimes for example.

La Liga fans are defensive about their league. I said it earlier. Those players are not used to being double and triple teamed by quality opposition and it is showing. They are needing to make multiple decisions quickly and Germany is not allowing it. Exactly what I was alluding to the other day. They need to be exposed to this sort of set up consistently to now develop a workaround.

So understand the issue. Jude is NOT a 10. I've never said he should not start or play. I've maintained he should be paired with Rice and be box to box. Run into the box when crosses are being put in. Go in to scrounge for kickbacks etc. Help with organizing the midfield. Defend and win duels especially aerial ones. Put the ball forward to your 10 or wing players when chanced and so on.

A fair argument could be made that England will not eke past mediocre teams if round pegs were placed in round holes. Everyone can celebrate a clutch effort (which admittedly yesterday's was) but what if England would have been leading 4-1 by 90 mins if Jude was not faffing around as the 10?

This is not just not true. The lowest blocks are in the EPL. Even in this game, Nico does not get that chance if Georgia are not pushing up. I've never seen 3 banks of players crowding the wingers in Spain.

You can link me to the games where La Liga teams are playing low blocks to the degree we see in the EPL. You won't find it because it is not true.
