hensben:What does highest goal scorer have to do with anything or highest assist maker? The title is best PLAYER not best striker or best assister. Abi is there any year that Hazard was the top scorer or assister in the league when he won EPL player of the year? |
hensben:Preference? KDB played how many games for CFC vs how many games did Palmer play for City? Your KDB vs Oscar argument would make sense if Oscar was demonstrably better than KDB in all meaningful metrics like Foden is over Palmer. Preference? Foden had 2 YPOTY awards. Foden had a best U-17 world player. Foden now has the EPL player of the year title in the season Palmer was supposedly better than him. Do you guys think? Palmer is apparently showing why he wanted more first team opportunities than Pep was willing to offer yet Foden goes on to beat him to winning the league, being more impactful to his team and standing out in a better team. I'm not sure you know what it means to stand out in City. Palmer should tell you what it means. The student who was the class valedictorian in MIT cannot be compared to the best student in LASPOTECH. |
BlueAngel444:I'm replying other Chelsea fans through you. |
BlueAngel444:Of course. No wonder you've been asking me silly questions since. KDB missed half of the season. Haaland missed 3 months. You people said Gundogan and Mahrez leaving weakened City. Yet City still won the league. Tell me why and who was the central focus of City's attacking this season. I'm waiting. |
BlueAngel444:You mentioned English national team and I was mocking you and Southgate who plays his most talented player out of position to pretend he is autonomous yet England can't and won't win crap until they go back to the system that won them the U-17 world cup. The system that saw Foden judged the best U-17 player in the world. The same one that just won City the league. Yet I'm supposed to believe players that are better than him should be excused for winning nothing when the team is built around them. Silly. |
hensben:So why is Palmer playing for minnows but Foden is playing for the best team in the league? Abi did you forget that City told Palmer to eff off and still won the league without missing a beat. |
BlueAngel444:You people keep making these poorly conspired arguments. England should also play Foden as the goal keeper to prove he is better than Palmer. Chelsea fans are the ones who will teach us about Palmer that I've watched more times than any Chelsea fan on this thread can even think of. The same people who kept telling us City were not at the same level and were inferior to Arsenal and Liverpool somehow still won the league but the most impactful City player is average. Yet the best player in the league could not lift his team beyond Tottenham. |
hensben:Foden won't take penalties when Haaland plays for the team. Same way no sensible coach will build around Palmer when Foden is in the same team. |
BlueAngel444:We will be here when you guys are shouting McKenna out or Enzo out. No be Chelsea again? So finishing 6th from 12th of the previous season was not good enough with plenty new young players that the manager had to iterate before finding the right team? But all of a sudden Enzo and McKenna should be given credit? LOL. |
raumdeuter:I could be wrong but I have a feeling Pep endorsed this transfer. My personal opinion is, Kompany has all it takes to succeed. He should only make sure the players respect him as a manager- they will as a player. Pep wanted Kompany as one of his assistants - Rooney and Lampard have been begging for it but Pep has not obliged. Kompany did very well in Belgium and the championship. He was never going to use Burnley playing attacking football to survive but he was trying to show it was implementable. Burnley not sacking him should tell people something about him. Lastly, you guys have tried Julian Naggelsman who is even younger than Vincent. The difference is, Julian was not the great player every one knew Kompany was. If your board backs him fully, he could be one for the future. |
AdisaOwala:They are essentially the same teams but the league was more difficult this season. |
popizaino:If they said the points amassed are the major determinant for the better team what was your own logical argument against that? What you have above does not meet the logic test and you have to challenge me on my own posts not what others seem to be saying. I think AdisaOwala is making better arguments. You should probably allow him champion this cause. You have to compare over a quadrat not isolated instances. For e.g Aston Villa are not better than City because they beat Arsenal twice and City did not. Those are isolated instances. The quadrat is the league table for e.g. Just like the era of Enersto's team vs Pep's is how the comparison should be. Which is why I brought up Pep's team the very next season after 2008. |
AdisaOwala:Are you looking for an isolated season within an era? City got less points in the league during the treble than this season. Which season do you suppose City got pushed more in the league? |
AdisaOwala:Pep's team got 99 points the very next season to win the league. Then 96, then 101 if they needed to beat RM. You normally define eras within a period not in 1 season right? |
AdisaOwala:Your argument is that this era is inferior to Fergie's era. In other words, that winning was more difficult in Fergie's time than now. I'm saying if you needed 78 points to win a league title it is because other teams were mid like you (level of competition offered) not because your era was difficult (difficulty or superiority). Think of it in another way. If Usain Bolts needs to run under 9 secs to win a sprint, does that not prove he is running against faster sprinters than the era he only needed under 10 secs to win? |
popizaino:Balance the logic. The very next season that Pep team got 99 points. Therefore, it was not the difficulty of the league or superiority of the opposition players that determined the lower points gap. It was simply the level of competition offered at the time. When RM had 96 points the next season, Pep's team needed 99 to ensure they won the league. For context, the Fergie team that did a treble had 78 points and then got 91 points or so the next season. Why did the same "difficult era" excuse that worked for the 78 points season fail to become an excuse the very next season? Because it was never about any difficult era. If anything the competition was less quality QED. |
Ijustwantto:It was Tuchel that was the coach when PSG fell to 3rd. Before Poch raised them back up to 2nd. Poch won the league in his first full season there. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:If CNN did not say it, don't expect certain people here to know it. They go where CNN goes. Know this. Know peace. |
BlueAngel444:Which talent does who have more than Bellingham? You have to be specific. If Foden, Foden is better at football than Bellingham in everything apart from diving or defending. Foden has more individual awards, achievements and trophies than Bellingham and has done it far longer and younger than Jude ever did. Jamal is full of talent but he did not have the right manager to take him to the next level but his ceiling is higher than Judes. Olise has talent but pales in comparison to the others in achievements. The stake is not yet high enough to truly rate his game until he makes the change to a bigger team. Wirtz was 2nd over Odegaard because of Bayer Leverkusen's season. It could have been between him or Odegaard - I can agree. Wirtz has the brain of a world class midfielder. Touch, talent level etc. He only needs to stay fit to enjoy a similar season and he will rise to one of the greatest soccer players of all times. Odegaard is on that pedestal as well. |
fredoooooo:Long term contract means Job security. Poch got 2 years first. If he asked for more, he wanted to be certain his job was secure. I actually think he left because of the transfer policy. But not to worry, CFC breached alot of the FFP rules so your day of reckoning is at hand. |
BlueAngel444:1. Foden 2. Wirtz 3. Odegaard 4. Jamal 5. Bellingham 6. Palmer 7. Saka 8. Kudus 9. Xavi Simons 10. Olise Based on talent, achievements, winnings and current form. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:If you're debating with anyone and you can quote their rejoinders from any of the traditional media houses like CNN, FOX, MSNBC and affiliates - don't waste your time responding. They are only telling you what they were told to say. Only discuss with critical thinkers. |
Alamkir:The one where City still won the league. |
andrewbaba44:I said it before. Every team's star player is better than City's players until it is time to win then we would start reading all sorts of stupid excuses. |
popizaino:People like Adisa and co only bring up these arguments AFTER the win. Long before the season ended I had told people that no excuses will be adequate. The same goes for you. You cannot give Carlo credit for winning UCLs in the same era you are denigrating in another breath. It does not work that way. If the era is inferior. It should cut across all leagues and competitions. Simple. |
osazsky:Not just that. A lot of people were not following the case. Otherwise they'd have known that City won their case against UEFA fair and square and the FA's charges against City are basically the same things from the UEFA case. The FA are currently looking for a soft landing for themselves. Watch and see. Nothing will come out of it. |
I remember when Arsenal fans said 22/23 season was lost due to Saliba being out with injury. What's the excuse now? Buahahahahaha. |
The same foolish arguments again. |
Unlimited22:KDB has been terrible in this game. The difference between him and Walker is he has more sense as Kyle has had better opportunities to play that pass and he did not. |
AdisaOwala:He is. He is just KDB so even his bad days he is still dangerous. |
raumdeuter:He is fit enough if he can make the bench. Kyle walker offers nothing in attack. KDB is off it today. |

What have they achieved or won more than him.
