Well said, but from experience getting a job in the aviation/ travel industry is not about going to aviation school. Just like someone said earlier its all about your determination. All you may need is to register for IATA certification online, read on your own and take their exams and you are there. My fello landers, if you know you are sharp please don't waste your money going to these school, they can be really boring. You can take as many IATA certifications as you desire, but with the intent of building your knowledge in the industry. Travel and Tourism from IATA/UFTAA, comes with GDS demo, which you can practice and get yourself acquianted. This has really helped the growth of my travel agency. Just like someone said, I started with just a laptop (it is truly lucrative if you know what you are doing?). In short, to be a successful travel agent, you must love the travel industry and update yourself, by yourself. You can even go beg a Travel agency for mentoring (without pay). Wish you all best!

Travel / Re: Please, How Reliable Is Wakanow.com? by Angeljay(f): 11:34am On Aug 12, 2013
mujeebt99: Wakanow is pure 419ers. They quote their fake prices on their website. After booking and making payment into their bank account, they call and notify you that u have to pay more money, that the ticket fare has gone up. When u compare the money to what is on the airline site, u discover it is a total lie. Imagine their fake PNR number could expire less than 1 hour after booking on their site; when you can genuinely hold a PNR of klm,ba,delta, emirate, etc for atleast between 48 hours to 72 hours. These wakanow.com cheated me and I believe they will dearly pay for it. "4dzlec" that was their fake PNR. I know their might have agent, worker/staff on NL because I can read comments on some people trying to speak good of you. for where NA LIE. investigate on my CASE via your fake PNR u gave me. WAKANOW NA MODERN ONLINE THIEF OOOO.

Take it easy, please read my post on another thread - Wakanow Nig LTD Shabby Service. - Travel - Nairaland: I believe they will do something about your case if you ask nicely... these things happen. As for my experience with Emirates: A customer service agent asked me to pay into an account and I was latter told it was a wrong account because my travel date was close by and I was asked to pay another 250k for me to claim my booking. I was refered to the supervisors and he categorically told me there was nothing he could do about it. I was told that I will get my refund 2 weeks after. I had to cancel the program I was going for and that cost me some. I am not saying we should take shit, but we should understand that they are humans just like you and I, but we can still try our best to get them to do the right thing and I don't think we can achieve that by calling names. You can go to their office if need be, as long as you have all your evidence. WAKANOW please threat you customers right... Nija please lets do things right....
Find my previous post below -

First of all I'd like to say that given the fact that this is the first time we have an agency that is aspiring to be world class in Nigeria, we should give kudos to the founder of Wakanow for the initiative. I must say that some of us who are fast in condemning this achievement have very personal reasons.... If you are a competitor to Wakanow on this thread, let me plead with you to find other means to achieve market leadership than painting your competitors black, if possible learn one or two things from them and avoid their mistakes, that way you'll achieve your goals.

Secondly Wakanow, I honestly admire your initiative but I won’t say I am thrilled. I expected you to take advantage of Nigeria's notoriety for poor services, in order to achieve market leadership. Truthfully, I have never used your services but my reason for being on this thread is because I am trying to. I must say that I am quite reluctant because I am presently finding it difficult to reach your phone lines in order to confirm the validity of my bookings, before I proceed to pay. I also noticed that you do not truly have 24hrs customer service because yesterday evening, I was first in line for more than 30mins and had to hang up after wasting so much airtime. In addition to some complaints on this thread that seems genuine, I have therefore concluded that your biggest problem is Customer Service and I don't think you'll get it right if your Customer service department do not sit up.

If you incur debts for your customers by not responding to their request to change travel dates or attending to their bookings and payments ASAP, you are giving people more reasons not to patronize travel agents. In my many travels, I have noticed that the reason why some airlines or travel agencies are better than others is just because of the efficiency of their customer service... Nobody wants stories on a journey, nobody wants to spend above their budget on travel, unless it brings fulfillment. Even when there are issues every passenger wants to know that someone is on their case and is doing everything to the best interest of the passenger. For instance, even though I've had some unfortunate experiences with Emirates, I still prefer to fly them instead of their competitors. Why? Because anytime I call Emirates office, especially their headquarters customer service line in Dubai, I repeat anytime and without waste of time, they answer and they do something about my case. Even if I don't get a favorable result, that speed of response gives me the assurance that I matter.

Wakanow, if you want to get it right re-orientate your customer service on the potential of every customer at least that’s what IATA customer service program teaches. May be you should make those IATA courses a bases for employment and look for ways to ensure staff compliance. If you are having problems with your present phone company, change them or use several (at least that’s what works in Nija - to be truly mobile you must have MTN, airtel, GLO... God help us). Travel agency requires 24hrs prompt and efficient services... Ogas at the top, don't be bureaucratic, monitor your frontline staff and ensure they are doing things right if you want to make a difference in this tough industry (travel and tourism industry is not for the faint hearted).

Finally, for those on this thread, lets appreciate Nija content... and a word of advice to other travel and tours agencies, Nigeria is big enough for all, in fact you haven't taken advantage of half of the potentials of this populous nation, instead of wasting time trying to rubbish your competitors, work harder, be innovative and take advantage of the big market, maybe someday you could become a world class like those in the developed nation. If you keep saying awful things about your competitors you will lose potential clients to airlines.

So can you stop competing and give travelers reasonable information about using Wakanow.

Family / Man Beats Wife And Wards Regularly! by Angeljay(f): 5:14pm On Apr 04, 2010
Last night I was shocked and terrified as i watched my neighbour beat his ward mercilessly (with iron rod).
Since this neighbour moved in, we've always heard him wipe and beat the women in his household, but last night was actually the peak of it. He was beating his ward, then she ran out of the house, he chased her out and when he realised that the kicks and blows were not enough, he continued with a rod. My fellow nairalanders this is a young girl, i assume is between the ages of 16 and 20, what could she have done that deserved such treatment. I called my husband and told him it was too much and he asked me "what can i do about it? this is nigeria, where no practical law applies to domestic voilence" besides the neighbour seems to like secrecy as he shuns associating with neighbours. Asides from the other weired things he does, this one really got to me. So, i am asking what do you do when you see your neighbour batter his wife and wards almost on a daily basis?

Romance / Re: Can Adultery Help My Marriage? by Angeljay(f): 5:22pm On Nov 30, 2007
Guys, you know what. I intend to be enjoying sex till my due date.

Ooops!! Isn't that wonderful!!!!
Romance / Re: Can Adultery Help My Marriage? by Angeljay(f): 4:05pm On Nov 30, 2007
Haba Prikie, how can you a married woman encourage someones hubby to have extramarital affair, even if it is what he wants to hear or it is that you don't have any other advice to give? You have spoken well about the benefits of sex during pregnancy, but like some other people have said, sexual feelings are different for different women.
I am married and 8months pregnant and honestly I have not been feeling so Hot. It varies though, different times with different feelings. Especially when you think so much about how the baby is kicking and how you are having some cramps and pains because of the enlargement of the uterus.

But (also @ poster), since I have researched, asked and come to understand the importance of sex at this period, I always try put my self in the moods that will encourage sex. I dread the idea of episiotomy (cutting of the perineum during child birth). So, I am taking all measures to do without it, I mean all possible measures.

But even before I learnt about the importance of sex, I told myself I must not deprive my husband of the wonderful thing we had before the baby came along. Atleast even if it is not better than before, but close. Because I cannot imagine him thinking like the poster.

@ Poster, you have to get your self to understand what it is like to be pregnant. Not all women will think like me, so you have to work harder. Find out what is the problem, it may not actually be the pregnancy, it may be that there are some things she expects you to do that you are not doing.

At this stage, I found out that what turns me on before actually bores be now. Please pet her, handle her really really gently, probably take her out, to some romantic spots, buy her little things she will really appreciate, make sure you are always clean and refreshed around her, help her out at home even if you have helps (not just sitting in front of the telly or the PC when she is trying to make dinner and expect to pounce on her afterwards), just watch her mood and so on, and i'm sure you'll get in there faster than you taught.

If these don't work, then talk to her and encourage her to speak to a friend who has had a child before or a family member. I think it will be better you don't talk to people yourself, let her do it and ask her if she wants you to be with her when she is having such a conversation with the friend or family member.

Before i forget, I hope it is not the doctor's advice that she shouldn't have sex during this pregnancy. It is important you know. If you don't know then you've not been doing well as a husband. There are some situations that warrants that a woman stay out of sex or strenous activities.

I hope my advice works!!
Romance / Re: Me, My Corper Friend And My Fiancee by Angeljay(f): 1:55pm On Nov 28, 2007
The corper is "A fresh breath of air"      while       Your fiancee "A pillar of strength".
Randa I like your use of metaphor, you seem to be a lecturer in literary field, to be precise POETRY. Just guessing!
I must confess, your expressions says it all. You wish you had these two qualities in one person!!! bla bla bal!!!
I'm not trying to judge you, Please I stand to be corrected.
In the first place, you should have just simply asked us which one will make a better wife - "A fresh breath of air" or "A pillar of strength".
But the morale in you wouldn't let you leave the long term committment.
I must confess, you've done well to seek for advice. After you think about what I've just deducted from your Post, I think you should do this, which is exactly what I would do: Put that "Fresh breath of air" into your "Pillar of strength". I promise you, you'll have a lovely marriage. Because without the "Fresh breath of air", you can still have a good marriage with the "Pillar of strength", but may be boring. But definitely, a marriage can never survive just with the mere fact that it started with a "Fresh breath of air"
So my dear, it is not all about leaving the corper, but taking that quality you like in her and building it into your fiancee. Else, you'll leave most of your marriage life, wishing you still had that "Fresh breath of air" around you.
And please stop scaring your fiancee, when you get attracted to other women, you are not the only one, even the Priests and Pastors want that "Fresh breath of air" around them. Abeg carry your cross alone!
I've had a similar experience, and this is what i did and it sure did work!!

Family / Re: Your Husband in The Labor Room During Childbirth? by Angeljay(f): 10:32am On Aug 07, 2007
Guys, We are expecting our first baby early next yr and the best gift my husband can give to me is being there to hold my hands and let me know it is okay. The good thing is that he has been there from the start, so i don't expect less.
But I really don't blame some Naija guys (especially Igbos) for bolting at that time, because it is even some older women (with their old fashioned believes) that discourage them from being there. I had to be there for my elder sister because the husband couldn't stand it (very very touchy).
Guys it is really no big deal, and like other girls have said, you will really appreciate her the more, not that you are a fool, like other guys might say.
If you agree with me, i guess the absence of some of our parents in scenes like this makes the home look soooooo ohh - where the man just sits there and shouts or beats up the wife.
It is a good thing - makes the woman feel you the more and of course welcomes love making as soon as she is healed and not keep you roasting for another decade.

I sorry for you oooooooooo!
Thank God for the Bible, 'He who has no sin, let him cast the first stone'.

Family / Re: Why Are My Friends In Nigeria Always Asking Me For Money? by Angeljay(f): 3:42pm On May 07, 2007
@Funloving - I want to believe you are just expressing your mind and discussing what people 'WHO HAVE', go through!
@Samsilo - Please do take it easy with people who don't have and besides I hope you know that lots of people in the UK actually asks for help from pple living in Nija. An uncle of mine working in the UK, could not even bury his mum, had to ask for a substantial amount from an uncle working in PH
@Spoilt - Don't take it so hard on people, if you can HELP, do so, if you can't, just BURST it. If pple ask you and they don't get from you, they'll go somewhere else.
@Tcube - who wonders why one relates with the poor instead of those in their economic class. I really wonder where you are coming from, that some pple miss-use an opportunity of friendship, doesn't mean they are not worth giving a chance. Thank God for who you are today!
@Niyyie - I hope some day, when you are seriously in need, you will not be mistaken to be an opportunist, pls quite judging pple. Jesus Christ gave everyone the fishes and loaves, he didn't seperate the opportunist from the geniune! that is if you are a christian and understand this principle of giving.

@ EVERYONE
I believe this topic is not only for us to understand more about ourselves, but also try to correct our mistakes. If you are opportuned to give, pls do not hesitate, there is indeed blessing in giving. I have experienced it. On the other hand remember, it pays to be a giver than always on the receiving end.
Let me give you an instance: There is a multi-millioneer who lives at the back of my house in the east (works abroad). This man usually gives each family around his house, a bag of rice during each festive period. He also provided bore-hole and tarred the road leading to his residence, which also gives access to everyone around. One day, he came to visit my parents, who are not rich and you know what he said: THE SECRET OF MY WEALTH IS THE FACT THAT I GIVE, AS LONG AS I HAVE. If anyone decides to use that against me, he is actually hurting God and besides, those who do not learn from my act of giving, will only remain beggars.
Testimony: Moi also, in school i never lacked but i got meager sum from my parents. The amazing thing was that every one thought i was from a rich home, not knowing they were actually more bouyant than myself. Most will come and share my provs. and food stuffs, and sometimes, i may just have 5 naira left, but i really don't know how things patched, because i never lacked. I may just get a favour from a friend, with out asking or a far relative remembers me or my cake sells big time. This has always been the case in my life and GOD, I THANK YOU SO MUCH!

So my dears: if you think you have so much and you can't give with out complaining, don't be surprise if you remain where you are!

@funloving - burst complaining and ask God to direct you as you give. If you are rich, actually take it upon yourself as a sacrifice you have to make and as a gift God has given you to share. If you are a christian, you'll note from the bible, that somepeople have gifts of giving, as much as others have, of healing, teaching and so on. The amazing thing is that some people actually delight in giving, like myself grin

JUST FISH OUT THOSE WHO REALLY NEED AND HELP, and I repeat: AS LONG AS YOU HAVE!
Career / Re: Can You Employ Your GirlFriend? by Angeljay(f): 5:33pm On Apr 26, 2007
Well guys, I honestly think everyone has got a point, but it all depends on where you are coming from. Since you own the company, really what your employees say, don't really matter, 'cos most are based on jealousy and of course if she is doing a nice job for you, you don't have to risk that just to satisfy other employees.
From another point of view, you must really define the relationship before you go ahead and employ her, if you know it is going to lead no where, I think you better consider it seriously. If you intend to marry her and she desires so too, the better. All you have to do is look for an aspect she is good at and give her to manage. In doing so she won't have much interference with people from other depts. and she will try to keep up so that the company, from where she is supposedly benefiting from, will thrive. Insist on her adherance to the company's objectives, rules and also, always look into her dept. objectively, i.e without biase. This is quite difficult, which is why it is important you know this girl very well and understand her temperaments. You must also be very disciplined, else things may get out of control at the long run.
Just consider it properly and please think of what every party stands to gain, not just you as Seun advised.

Thanx 'Loluu', but Zaria is really too far for me and with wat i've gathered they don't have affiliate centers in other states.
The thing is there is a 'college of aviation management studies' in Lagos, which has it's branches in other states. i've been quite sceptical about registering with them because i don't know if they are widely accepted in the aviation industry.
plz guys in the aviation industry let me have your own view here.
i want to register this wk for 'Air travel management', i hope i won't be making a mistake?
And if you've taken any professionals in aviation plz let me know how to go about it since i want to work in the aviation management section.
Thanx a lot
