I am afraid we may not v d nigeria of our dream for a very long time except God in his mercy decides to dash us good leaders. As long as electing leadership is concern it may takes those who are well elightened a lot of work and time to elighting d average Nigerian what democratic leadership is all about. As at now an average Nigerian will elect their leaders for d very wrong reasons. 2011, I tried asking pple why they are going to vote our current president and I heard them say bc he his from d minority, he was once poor, he was persecuted by d cabals who didnt want him to take over from Yar'dua etc and I asked do you know his performance as a former Governor and almost all d pple I spoke with didnt care about his performance as a Governor, they didnt even want to access his performance as acting President. They claimed as an acting and substansive President he cant do anything bc he's not serving his own tenure and even today some foolish pple still say he cant take serious decision in his first tenure but that when he gets 2nd he will perform and I am like a man who couldnt do much in almost 6years how much will he do in another 4years. The truth is Nigerians deserve d leaders they get. The only hope Nigeria has is that d few enlightened Nigerians will work very very hard to enlighten d majority of Nigerians who v very very bad idea about leadership.
Same questioned I posted to some friends back then, all they were able to come up with was God has chosen him.. I was weak and surprise that at stage we are not looking at the antecedent of the person instead we are using religion as the yardstick to vote for him..If u want a man of God, din't pastor Chris contest?, why din't people vote for him as a man of God shud be able to do things right..A friend of mine I convince regarding jonthan's antecedent was now thanking me for convincing him after seeing the way country is presently
PoliticsRe: What Do You Understand By Stealing Is Not Corruption? by angelsing(m): 4:57pm On Dec 05, 2014
noblezone:
You simply do not understand the meaning of a context!

there is no argument about the fact that stealing is an aspect of corruption.

The point is this:

We are seven in my family! We are saddled with the responsibility of keeping money for the community.
One of then took some money on his capacity! He stole and is guilty, but you wont say my family is corrupt because one of us stole.

The family is corrupt when every one of us to collude. It is not just stealing anymore. It is a system and culture of stealing.
Saying a government is corrupt when an individual stole is like calling my a family of thieves because I stole.

There was a context Mr. President spoke on.
He was saying, because an individual in my government stole, does not mean my government is corrupt.

He was neither defending stealing nor defending corruption.

Now, whether he is stealing or his government is corrupt is another ball game altogether.
This thing is very simple to understand but it seems some of you are already blinded with sentiments.
This ur perception will only apply if only one of the family member stole, one can not call the family a thief but if more than one person steals in that same family, they will be tag as family of thieves..In this case one can say Stealing and corruption are the same with different interpretation.

Nawa ooo...Playing the victim all the time.. They are making it sound like opposition controls the Sss, airforce, police, nscdc, army, news house, cnn, bbc, etc.. Who have they not blame for the problem of nigeria? instead of focus on how to make it better they are accusing the opposition of trying to kill the president without any intel regarding such..Pls u guys shud desist for abusing an elderly man irrespective of what he said, we shud all just tackle his statement and leave his personality

D9ty7:
The bolded actually got to me. The opposition are always criticising the current government at every given opportunity, its like nothing good is coming out of the Jonathan led administration. And the presidency is always quick to reply them and thereby causing enemity within the two partie who are front runners in the upcoming election.
In the US, the Deomocrats and the Republican work hand-in-hand while in Ngeria it is the otherwise.
I see APC as being desperate, they criticises Jonathan government at every given opportunity, why not show your desperation to take over the government, support him and achieve collective success.
I am left to wonder why people like Buhari, OBJ are attacking Jonathan's government and Jonathan is hitting back. We all know his government is not giving us what we expected but all the same, he can only get better. Buhari is an elder, his advises should be Jonathan's driving force, but rather than fight for the betterment of the country as a whole, they are selfishly interested in attaining power too.
Anyways, Baba Clark, well said but in a careless manner.
So what you are saying in a nut shell is that there shud be no opposition?. You can't criticise a sitting president even if he does things the wrong way because we are running a unified government?. I think most of the criticism he has received he paved way for it. Let me list a few. 1. Few hours after the bombing at the eagle square on october first without any investigation he came out to deny Mend involvement in it only for Mend to claim the bombing. 2.There was a bomb blast in kano, the next day he was dancing at a campaign rally. 3. Stealing is not corruption, just to mention a few. I can go on and on but believe me he paved way for such criticism..I will continue to say it he became a president when he was not ready for it considering the enormous task of ruling this country.

PoliticsPRESIDENT To SENATORS: Focus On National Issues And Not Impeachment by angelsing(op): 8:06am On Dec 04, 2014
PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday
told senators behind the Jonathan-Must-Go
impeachment project that there were issues of
national importance that needed their attention
rather than the plot against him.
Jonathan’s advice was contained in a reaction by
his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Dr.
Doyin Okupe, who fired back at the senators
said to be compiling signatures and impeachable
offences against the President.
“It is our view that there are at present, serious
fundamental issues of national importance such
as winning the war against terrorism and
stabilising the economy in the face of dwindling
oil revenue which require the full attention,
commitment and swift action of distinguished
members of the Senate,” Okupe said.
Arrowheads of the impeachment plot against
Jonathan in the Senate on Tuesday told
journalists in Abuja that 65 senators had already
signed to remove the President and that they
would formally present a request to commence
the impeachment proceedings on December 16.
The senators said they would have tabled their
request this week but for the adjournment in the
Senate. The upper federal legislative chamber
had suspended plenary till December 16 for
members to participate in the ongoing primaries
of the parties.
Okupe’s full statement read, “The Senate in the
last four years has conducted its legislative
functions and responded to issues that are of
great national importance with commendable
political sagacity.
“In this same period, the Senate has functioned
as a stabilising force within the polity employing
much political maturity that is required to guide
and protect our nascent democracy.
“However, confrontation and strong
disagreements are not uncommon phenomenon
in Executive-Legislative relationship world-wide.
“The recent purported attempt by some senators
to prepare impeachable offences against the
President, as reported in some section of the
media, is seen by us in this light.
“We strongly trust and believe in the leadership
of the present Senate and the unwavering
patriotism and commitment that have been
shown by the distinguished members and we
trust that ultimately it is this tendency towards
true nationalism that will prevail in the Senate.
“It is our view that there are at present, serious
fundamental issues of national importance such
as winning the war against terrorism and
stabilising the economy in the face of dwindling
oil revenue which require the full attention,
commitment and swift action of distinguished
members of the Senate.
“We are of the opinion that all matters political
can and will be resolved politically in the overall
interest of our democracy and the wellbeing of
our people.”
One of the arrowheads of the impeachment
move in the Senate, Senator Alkali Jajere, had
told journalists on Tuesday that there was no
going back on the project.
He had said, “As of today, the required
signatures to initiate the impeachment process
had been obtained. The Senate has adjourned to
December 16, so by that date the impeachment
motion will be presented on the floor of the
Senate.
“As of last week, 63 of us had signed up for the
impeachment; my signature was the fourth but I
can confirm to you that we have 63 signatures
but after the session today two people had
called and told me that they want to sign.
“One of them is an All Progressives Congress
senator who was away doing campaign because
he is contesting the governorship election of his
state. The other person is a Peoples Democratic
Party senator.
“Before the end of today I can assure you that
the list will swell up to 70. It is on the
impeachment day that we need two-thirds of the
members to carry out the exercise but we need
only one-third, which we already have, to initiate
the process. It is just a matter of one day sitting.
We will just push it before the two chambers.”
Jajere said he signed the impeachment motion
because of his conviction that there were
impeachable offences against Jonathan and that
the process had been started early in the year
but was truncated.

Simple! the issue is that other bigger tribes feel the minority has no right to rule over them the reason all these crisis and problems they are giving GEJ. Its really unfortunate that in a country where we are made to believe that we are all Nigerians and equal by both birth and origin yet some people in some quarters will say they are born to rule hence no other person is qualify to rule. If you are talking of competence, let me ask you , is there a particular region that has the monotony of competence or capacity to rule?I have never seen a govt. in Nigeria that has been so frustrated by the troubles they citizens gives to it like this present govt. Let this man concentrate on carrying the country forward. Who ever feels he is more competent should prove it through the ballot box.
I like ur post at list u did not result to insult irrespective of our notion...I don't believe the north must rule thing, I think no matter how hard the opposition or northerners are giving the president, the onus still fall on the president to weed out this bad element and persecute them...You can't keep calling someone a thief while u have never caught the person stealing..I just pray we get it right at the next election that include those for or against him

Which fight for good governance are you talking about? that a man doesn't seem to see anything good about the present administration is that what you call fight for good governance? aligning with opposition and engage in name calling and and insults on the government of the day?
You can never fight for good governance this way and expect better results okay.
Common road safety management they gave him during IBB regime how was he able to handle it and we all know how it ended up.
Oga, rest ok. If you think leadership is easy then i will ask you if you have ever handled even a course position in your tertiary institution(dats if you attended one anyway) you will understand that its easier to criticise from outside, but when you get there you will notice its not that easy as you think.
To hell with his criticisms what Nigerians want is solutions and not criticisms.
He is not doing the nation any good. Let him go and hide in his village because he can not proffer any solution to our problems.
Seriously speaking, what is good about this our country presently?..During babangida/Abacha's tenure the country was still united irrespective of the tribe we came from, even the hausa's were sad with the way the country was and we all had one voice against the government. Fast forward to obasanjo/yaradua tenure, same thing one voice without division. Just check this present tenure, we now hate our self more, we don't tolerate each other anymore, Tribal and religion as divided us so much that we now call our self all sought of names just to prove we are superior to each other..I don't know the angle u supporter's of jonathan are looking at it from but the country has never been brought to his knees like this present government. All I want is good governance and am not seeing it in this present government..

Have got this thing about knowing when a person is lying cos there are signs that shows on ur body and face to tell it..The easiest way to know this thing is to study ur own body language when u lie, once u can detect how ur body feels and the face u make when u lie u can also tell when others are lying. Since I know the face and body language I make when am lying, I can lie to u without u knowing by changing my body language and face to show the body sign like am saying the truth. To me its easy, I can lie and u still won't know cos I know what u expect to see when am lying

This Apc has no plan for Nigeria is an assumption which I will be glad if u can give me fact to back it up....you said u known the government has done everything right?. Like how our citizen are dying everyday, like granting pardon to known convicted felons, saying corruption is not stealing..Is senator Ndume who was found to be a financial for boko haram not in Pdp, has he been persecuted, what about the subsidy scam?. The fail attempt to buy ammunition from S.A..boko haram might have started as political tool but the way he went about like its not his business. I can go on and on. He has done some good things as well, like the railway sector, agriculture, power even though its still not stable there is a progress there but for the fact he can't do its primary objective as a president I.e protection of life and properties its just part of my reason why I feel he has not done well...
