Firstly, how old is the guy?.. You need to sit ur sister down and explain the danger of blood convenant, likewise call the boy friend too if u are older than him. Explain why it is wrong to be in a convenant relationship at their young age. You can even formulate a scary story of young people who did it in the past and how things turned out for them. Explain to them that human changes and anything can happen in the course of their life and it might result to death for both of them..make sure the story u paint to her is a story which the girl broke the convenant without realising it which led to the boy's death. Best of luck |

It depends on how you handled the situation..Let me share mine, what was suppose to be an embarrassing moment turned out to be wonderful for me cos I used my comic side to get thru the situation... I was sitting under a tree of my department with my friends while across where we sat 4 beautiful friends were sitting..A friend challenged me that I can't walk up to one of them to chat her up without getting embarrass by her friends..I tot of it and was scared at first cos I know things like this cud spell disaster and serious mocking from the girls and my friends..so an idea pop up in my head, I told my friends I will do it if they give me N1000 for doing it. They all agreed hoping to get the best laugh of their life..I walked up to the girls said hello to all of them while smiling, then I told them the partial truth. Told them have never walked up to any girl before that my friends dare me to walk up to them and chat them up that I need their assistance to save me face of laughter and embarrassment. I beg them to pretend to be my friend for the few min am with them that I will be very grateful if they can play along with me. They all laughed and agreed..They made way for me to sit btw them and we all gisted like friends. They told me all their names and the rest was history...From that day onward my friends started calling me SOLOMON..lol |

Muscomide: Fella, I don't how astute you are politically but have you never heard it said that 'all politics is local'? By this principle, the success or otherwise of political office holders is directly interwoven with their ability to understand and influence the issues of their constituents.
Politicians must appeal to the simple and everyday concerns of those who elected them into office, no matter how mundane those concerns are. Those personal, seemingly mundane issues, more so than the lofty, intangible ideas, are what voters care most about, according to this principle. Some political analysts call such issues the bread and butter issues.
It is for this reason that when there is any breakdown in law and order from Ariaria in the east to Zaria in the north, the paper trail and the buck ultimately stops at Jonathan's desk in Aso Rock.
One hopes that clarifies things for you and your like. Do have a great weekend. I think on this particular issue the bulk stops on the lagos state government not Federal..This issue is not a national issue but state. Its just breakdown of law and order which can be handled by the state, only when its escalate beyond the state then u can now say the bulk stops on the president.. As it stands its still a case the lagos state can handle...Don't get me wrong, I can't wait for us to kick jonathan out at the next election.. Peace! |

Business › Re: The Bricklayer’s Explanation To Oil Price Fall, Naira Devaluation & Everything by angelsing(m): 8:48pm On Nov 27, 2014 |
abeltolu: The Nigerian media has been awash of the news of Naira devaluation due to fall in Oil prices, and the consequences it has on our economy. I surfed the internet and found this great masterpiece explaining in layman's method the Naira devaluation, its effects on individuals, e.t.c. Enjoy.
So How Did This All Start?
First thing first, oil price fell. Why? Everyone’s increased their production of oil and no one plans on cutting back. In the US, shale oil’s getting cheaper, so there’s more oil out there…and we all know what happens when you have a lot more of a product — price falls. When price falls, consumers are happy and producers are unhappy. Consequently, nations that are consumers of oil have a lovely time, and oil producer countries …a not so lovely time.
So? What Does This Have to Do With the Naira?
Before we go on, a little info on currency and exchange markets. It’s important to note that our currency doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Essentially, a unit of our currency is exchanged for a unit of another currency. Hence the term, Foreign Exchange or Forex or FX, for short. When we buy products from outside Nigeria, we have to exchange our Naira for Dollars. Your Naira is useless outside of Nigeria. It’s why you convert your Naira to Dollars before you travel. You want to test it? Travel to Dubai with only Naira.
Back to the question you raised. Nigeria is fortunate(?) to be an oil producing nation…when oil prices are high. Presently, oil prices are not high and that’s bad for us. Nigeria’s economy is dependent on oil revenue: about 75% of Government revenue comes from our crude oil sales. So when oil prices fall, oil revenue falls too, and that’s bad for the economy.
In the currency market, exchange rates are often centered on the health of a country’s economy. When the economy of a country is strong, its currency is also strong in the foreign exchange market. When the economy appears to be weak, its currency loses value in the currency exchange rate. Nigeria’s dependent on oil, so when oil prices are weak, so our currency loses value in the foreign exchange market. This loss of value of Naira is called a ‘depreciation’ in currency value.
Here’s a simple example. If we began with a dollar exchange for a Naira, both are in a sense equal. However, once I have to give out 2 of my Naira for just 1 of your dollar then the value of Naira has fallen. In the past months, the exchange rate was $1 dollar to roughly N150. Thanks to depreciation and eventually devaluation (we’ll get to that later), it’s now $1 to N168.
Alright. I Get the Currency Part, But What Does Our External Reserves Have to Do with our Naira Value?
To explain this, we’ll have to look into what the External Reserves is and why it exists. Think of your External Reserves as a Savings account where you put some portion of your salary every month. That money gets saved for something later: paying your children’s university fees, buying a house, or importantly, in case things get bad in the future (perhaps you lose your job).
Likewise, countries keep these reserves, but mainly to safeguard the value of their domestic currency, boost their credit worthiness, protect against external shocks and provide a cushion for a rainy day when national revenue plummets. When Nigeria earns revenue from oil, it gets paid in dollars, so we simply stash a portion of the money in our reserves.
Moreover, the reserves of oil producing countries like Nigeria tend to benefit economically from higher oil prices. The higher the price of oil, the more money oil producing countries like Nigeria get to earn and save.
So if We Have an External Reserve, Why’re We Worried?
Well, having a bank account doesn’t mean you have money. We have a reserve, but our money no plenty. Nigeria has been dancing shoki with its reserves. When oil price was high, we apparently weren’t saving that much into our reserves. In fact, our reserves have been on a downward trend for years. We’ve been using our External Reserves to keep the value of Naira stable for months. When our currency appears to be falling, we take out some dollars from our external reserves and purchase Naira. Increased demand for Naira leads to increased value of Naira, and that’s how we stabilize our currency.
However, we sacrifice a portion of our External Reserves to pull this off. For instance, “while the central bank stepped in Nov. 7 to send the Naira to its biggest one-day gain in three years, intervening in the market has reduced foreign reserves to a four-month low of $37.8 billion.” In the last few months, even Russia with their large reserves had to devalue their currency by 23%.
So is This why Everyone Was Making Noise About CBN Devaluing the Naira?
Yes. Now there’s only so much spending from the reserves that the CBN can do, especially given that we’ve really sucked at growing our reserves when oil price was in the $100 range. It’s like when your office was paying you N100k, you were clubbing every weekend rather than saving some money. Then the minute your office decided to increase your income tax, that’s when your jobless relative comes to live with you too. So now, your salary is not only less, it’s burning faster cause there’s an extra mouth to feed.
The drop in oil price does not only send our currency downwards, it also makes it difficult for the CBN to defend our currency. It’s a double whammy. Essentially, if the CBN keeps trying to defend the rate at N150, it’ll burn through the reserves pretty fast and then we’ll be screwed. So relaxing this currency threshold to N168 means they can relax a bit. They don’t have to keep using as much of the reserves to prop up the Naira. If you’re still curious on how it all works, Feyi goes into the intricacies of devaluation in his fantastic post here.
Okayyy! I Think I Understand Now, But How Does This Affect Me?
Like many other economic events, devalution creates winners and losers. Let’s start with the losers. If you generate revenue in Naira and incur costs in dollars, this is a bad time for you. Any activity that has you converting Naira for Dollars will hurt you way more than a few months ago.
Let’s have a moment of silence for our Igbo brother who will be ‘importing containers’ this christmas. Life just got harder for them. Given that importers have to pay for their imported goods in dollars…and dollars just got more expensive, the cost of their goods have increased overnight.
Same thing happens to those Behind parents who’ve got their kids in Nigerian schools that only accept their fees in dollars or Nigerians that have children schooling abroad. If you like flying, shopping or doing anything abroad, your cost of doing so has risen. On the contrary, if you earn in dollars and pay in Naira, life is looking pretty good at the moment.
Exporters also benefit. The fall in value of Naira means more exports because our exports have gotten cheaper. But ermm…what exactly are we exporting?
Phew. So It Doesn’t Affect Me Like That
Don’t be so sure. Nigeria’s an import-dependent nation, which means that most of what you purchase is produced abroad. I heard we import our toothpick too. If the prices of imports have risen, trust your Nigerian brothers and sisters to increase their prices too…leading to what’s popularly known as inflation.
I Was Hearing All These Oversabies Saying CRR, MPR. What Does This Mean?
CRR stands for Cash Reserve Ratio. It’s the proportion of what a bank can lend, to what it has in its coffers. So if the bank has N1000 and its ratio is 50%, can only use 50% of that money (N500) for business. Given that awon banks do not mess around with profit making, they will make sure that N500 brings back maximum profit. Banks are like the servant in Jesus’ parable that got 10 talents from his master, not the lazy one that got 1 talent. So to make max profit off the N500, they will raise interest rate if you want to borrow their money.
MPR stands for Monetary Policy Rate. The Central Bank uses the MPR to control base interest rate. The higher the rate, the less money in circulation. How? If interest rate is higher, will you borrow money from the bank knowing that you’ll pay much more later on? Nope. Instead, you’ll take your money from your pocket and give it to the bank, so they’ll make you more money.
Remember that thanks to devaluation, awon boys will be increasing prices left and right. General price increase in a given period leads to inflation. To tackle this, CBN increases CRR and MPR to reduce demand for money. This way, they prevent inflationary rise.
Okayy. I think I Understand That Part, So What’s This Austerity Thing Aunt Ngozi was Talking About?
That one is another long story. So, we’ve all been in situations when we’re broke. Ok, maybe just some of us. We adjust our lifestyle around the middle of the month when our salary hasn’t been paid. You go from eating jollof rice to drinking garri. When friends tell you to come out and party, you form ‘I’m very busy’.
Nigeria’s proposed austerity measures are similar…except on a grander scale. To cushion the effect of the falling crude oil prices, we have to cut back on spending and quite literally tighten our belts. The Government is cutting back on wastage (less government traveling and all that sort). The Government’s also raising taxes on luxury goods such as private jets, yachts and champagne. Somewhere in this luxury tax is the amusing observation that the revenue from taxes on the rich will still go back to the rich.
For the proletariat, the sweet subsidy you enjoy when you fuel your car will also get cut. Prepare to pay more for fuel. This is a good thing. Subsidy has to go anyways.
Wow. That was Long. So, Any Lesson to Learn from All This?
Yes. First lesson: Nigeria is the most reactive and least proactive nation you could’ve been born into. This isn’t the first time oil prices have fallen. Government should’ve gotten used to fluctuating oil price and prepared accordingly. And, since oil is the figurative oil in Nigeria’s economic engine, judicious and prudent management of oil revenue should’ve been practiced. However, we largely mismanaged our wealth during the time of booms and we’re now trying to behave ourselves in the time of slump. Let’s see how that goes.
The second lesson to be learnt is that we should’ve diversified our economic sources of revenue a long time ago to prevent price shock of primary products from affecting us drastically. Also, State Governments should’ve been pressured to increase their internally generated revenue much sooner. We can’t keep reacting to every economic shock that hits us.
Anyways, this is getting too long and no one probably got to the end, so no need for a witty or wise ending. But, if you reached this point, congrats! After spending all that time reading this, make sure you show off your new macroeconomic knowledge to your friends. And please, stop abusing econ-nerds. We have feelings too. Selah.

Who could imagine that they would later become the most powerful couple in the land. Our dear President was just a lecturer then. Whoever had told him he would rise up to lead the most power black nation on earth, and the sweet lovely lady beside him, his wife the first lady. Whoever had told them it would come to pass, would they believe? How about my own situation !
I could remember that day vividly. I was full of anger. So many thoughts were flying on my mind. Thoughts like, “the place I worked, the administration has said they won’t be paying some workers their full salary package, and I was part of the them. The thought of it made me want to take up a gun to kill. Even if I can’t kill any human, let me just pour out my anger on any wide animal. I was complaining that the N15,000 they were paying was not enough, now they want to reduce the one they want to pay for that month to N10,000. I come dey ask myself how I go take manage survive for that month. I don already dey calculate how I go take split the money if e come, na im dem come pour sand inside my garri.
I had earlier considered changing my job to a better one. But which certificate I wan use! I didn’t go to any university. Na even Waec na im I take get my job. At my age of 34, no husband yet, my house was boring as hell. I was just a mere secretary at a computer training firm. Day in day out as university graduates walk in to register for computer courses, I wished to be like them, have that confidence but my self-esteem had been shattered. I felt left out. So many I went to secondary school with had become successful. Many married and living happily in their homes. But me, I am being mocked by some. At my age I was yet to be married. Infact my own situation pathetic. Men no dey look my way again. The last time a guy made a pass at me was over 5 years ago. Shey my situation no worse. It wasn’t even sure I was going to get married in this planet earth.
As I was raging in anger with so many thoughts on my mind. I didn’t even mind that the rain was falling, when the taxi dropped me at my street, I went out of the car and headed straight to my house. The fine weavon wey aunty calabar make for my head, I no send, I just caryy the thing enter rain. Before I could walk up to two poles, my dress was all soaked in rain water, coupled with the gully erosion in the street. On getting to my close to the gate of my house, I met a pool of water. The rain was so heavy and I didn’t noticed it. The water had covered the hole entrance of the gate. I saw a jeep inside the water. The water had swallowed some part of the car. I pitied the owner because he sure would spend heavily when he manages to bring it out of that place.
I had to swim the water and entered my house. I je-jely locked my door from behind and started crying. Shey make I come dey swear for my Ogas at the top! I began to calculate how I was going to spend the money. Out of the N10,000, I will pay my tithe, feeding for the month is there. I had promised my mom I was going to send her some money for her upkeep, and I also want to purchase Part time form for Delta state university before it closes. Shey na with N10,000 I go take do all these things! Na God go punish devil.
The next day, I collected the N10,000 the Job paid. In anger I left for my house the evening. I got to my street. As I was heading to my house, a jeep passed me. That was the car that was immersed in water the previous day. I guessed the owner had finally brought it. It didn’t even look as something that was inside a heavy dirty water some couple of hours back. It looked clean and very expensive that I wondered why God would allow it sink inside that kind of dirty dustbin water.
The car passed, stopped and turned back and stopped at my front. “Hope say this man know think say na me send the rain wey swallow him car yesterday,” I thought to myself.
Glass wined down. I peeped into the car as saw it was a not too young man inside the car. “Hello madam,” he said from inside the car. ‘chaiii, my case don worse oo’ so I don turn to madam now.’ Na so I old reach!
“how are you sir,” I said reluctantly.
“Why did you jump into the rain yesterday,” he said.
“how,” I asked.
He said he saw me the previous day walking inside the day like a soldier. I should have waited for the rain to stop. Now, how that one take concern him!
I just smiled and told him I was in haste. I asked if he was the owner of the car inside the dirty water. He said he just brought it out and has gone to wash and service it.
He asked where I was going. I told him I was going to my house. He offered to carry me but I refused. No be that him own dey do me. “Do you just walk up to people randomly and offer to carry them in your car,” i screamed at him. I don start to dey pa-ra oo. He laughed and said he just wanted to show me good gesture. He was just talking with me gently. Me sef dey shout. Na the difference between poor people and rich people. Their IQs, attitude. I no know wetin enter me wey I waka leave the place. Na so this man follow me oo. I increase my footsteps come dey waka fast, himself come dey drive fast dey follow me. “she dis man no wan use me do juju nih,” I think for my mind. Na so I throway the black nylon, the fish wey I buy put inside. I throway the thing come start to dey run they shout, “Help ooo, help ooo, ritualist.” Shop owners in that street started coming out. Even people wey dey inside their house je-jely, na so them just come out make them see mgbeke wey dey shout. I ran into one of the nearby compound as I screamed. I met about 5 kids playing in the compound, and about 3 elderly people. As they say me running towards them, they too, ran inside. I followed them. I was about climbing the stairs I entered, the building I don’t even know the owner.
“Madam ogini, what is that! Who is chasing you,” a loud voice echoed from behind. I didn’t even bother to look. I was just climbing the stairs till I got to the first floor. I guessed the owners of the house still didn’t know what was chasing all of us as we ran. They ran into their home and I followed. As they locked the door from behind. The elderly man I saw which I guess was the father asked me what was chasing me.
Na so story start. I began telling him that it was a man that wants to use me for rituals. “Rituals keh,” he screamed. Before I knew what was happening, he had gone inside and brought out a gun. As I see the gun, na so fear begin catch. I began to wonder, maybe the man wants to complete the job by killing me there. As fear full my body. I watched as he matched towards the door with the big gun. For my mind, “Walahi talai, that gun no go enter the man wey dey chase me.” “E no go enter him body. All those ritualists wey dey use juju.” As he walked out, I just prayed that we won’t hear his obituary. He walked out and one of the kids locked the door. I was full of fear. Barely 10minutes he left, we heard a knock on the door. Na so all of us run enter their mama bedroom. The knock came harder and harder and we realized it was their father. One of the kids went to open the door. He walked in with the man that was chasing me.
Chaii, my own don finish. Na this be there plan. To kill me and I come fall into their trap. Na so I wan run enter back to their mama room. The father shouted “stop running nah, they just helped you found your I.D card and money.” I didn’t even want to listen. As I wanted to run into the room, I fell down. Before I know wetin dey happen, na so I come become laughing stock. The children come dey laugh me. na so people come dey come inside the house oooo.
After everything, the unknown man said his name is smart, and he was well known in the street. He said he found my national I.D card on a dustbin the previous day and wanted to return it to me. why him no come talk since nah, he come dey follow me, come dey fear me. He come make me injure mysef. The okporoko fish, everything wey I carry, na so I throway all of them.
He finally made me enter his car and he took me to my house. na so the guy stop, wan come still follow me enter my only room. I told him to go back but he refused. Oga smart say him wan enter my room. Well, I no wan to talk too much since I don tire. I opened the door and we entered. I no come see all the fishes wey I buy come wey I wan take cook soup. Well, thank God I was able to find my money. The small egusi soup I cooked about 2 days before, with only head of fish inside. I warmed it and made eba. As I washed my hands, smart was still inside. I no know wetin I wan tell him. I told him to come join me. I felt people like him don’t eat that kind of food. Na better quality soup dem dey chop. Before knew what was happening, smart has washed his hands to join me with the small eba and egusi soup I made. I was surprised. There was this norm that when we invite people to eat, many would say “No, thanks.” That was what I was expecting and not him joining me. the small food wey I dey complain say e no go reach me, na im he wan still follow me devour. As we dey chop, na so I dey use one eye with vex dey look smart. After eating, he still joined me in sharing the head of fish. Me sef come dey wonder the kind person wey just enter my house, shey na so the hunger hold am.
After that day, smart began frequenting my place, and today, he’s my beloved husband. A loving and caring man. At my age then, I never believed I could get married and even to a confortable man. He solely sent me to school, I did the part time program successfully. Today, we are blessed with 2 lovely kids. And guess what! after marrying my husband, I later went back to the computer training college; not to work but I and my husband bought the building and began using it as Montessori school. http://www.hovabuzz.com/frontline/929-hilarious-experience-of-how-we-met I was believing this fairy tales until I saw the part she said she paid for taxi.. Person wey no get money dey enter taxi?. All this nollywood script! |

aaaah here we go again with women and their insecurities!!!!!!
@poster FIRST let me just say that i dont believe that a man should automatically stop talking to an ex simply because he is with you. if they are mature enough to find a common ground to be friends after being a couple then great, why should that be a problem to you?! stop trying to dictate what he can or cannot do. its called marriage not slavery!
SECOND has he done anything to warrant such insecurities from you? has he ever cheated? has he ever given you the reason to believe that he was cheating?
THIRD so you believe that communicating with your ex is "keeping a close r/ship with her"? what would you call it if they ever met again then? CHEATING?! lol
FOURTH you should TRUST and BELIEVE in your husband (unless he ever gave you a reason not to). he told you that nothing CAN happen and you should trust his words. not standing by him will only lead to trouble in a perfectly fine r/ship.
FIFTH your hubby told you what he believes in (aka there is nothing wrong with the act) but you are trying to change him into who he is not. you want him to stop being a friendly caring person because of your insecurities. lol. why dont YOU change to a better person rather than expect him to lower himself to your low self esteem level?
SIXTH giving your husband an ultimatum is not only wrong but immature. what are you going to do if he doesnt stop?! why do you think this girl will give a damn if you call her? she is HIS friend, and if HE sees nothing wrong in communicating with her then your business is with HIM not HER. your immaturity is clearly apparent. In as much as I agree with most of your point but let me ask u, Did u think the husband will take it likely with her if reverse was the case?..Sometimes u just have to put your self in the shoe of the woman to understand how she feels and knowing us Men we will rain brim stone if our wife keeps close communication with our else at the detriment of our own happiness. |
