RomanceRe: Hookup Culture And The Rise Of ‘soft Life’ In Lagos by AngelSlay: 3:59pm On Sep 09, 2025
ajalawole:
When parent keep giving birth to kids they can't take care of that is the result. I don't really blame most ladies going into hook up, in as much they can take care of themselves and not be a threat to national security. Hook up is better then kidnapping, arm robbery and all that.
When parents keep bringing children into the world without the means to properly care for them, we can’t be surprised at some of the outcomes. That said, I don’t entirely blame ladies who end up in hookup — many are simply trying to survive and take care of themselves.

But let’s be real: survival shouldn’t mean normalizing hookup as if it’s a sustainable or admirable path. Saying “at least it’s better than kidnapping or armed robbery” sets the bar far too low. Our society should be pushing for opportunities that give young women (and men) dignity, independence, and a future they can be proud of.

Yes, hookup might seem like the lesser evil compared to violent crimes, but it still comes with long-term risks — health-wise, emotionally, and morally. Instead of glorifying it, we should focus on creating real alternatives through education, skill-building, and better economic structures.
RomanceRe: Hookup Culture And The Rise Of ‘soft Life’ In Lagos by AngelSlay: 3:55pm On Sep 09, 2025
I hear your point, but I don’t fully agree. Greed is part of it, yes, but it’s not the whole story. The environment today is very different from what our parents and grandparents faced. Back then, there were still some safety nets, communal support, and opportunities tied to integrity. Now, the pressure is heavier—social media glamorizes wealth, and society rewards “success” without asking how it was made. Many people aren’t just chasing greed, they’re trying to survive, or at least avoid being seen as “failures.”

So while the older generation may have endured with honour, the system has shifted. It’s not only about personal values anymore, but also about the structures that shape choices.
Chukwudi4naija:
These vices are entirely greed-moivated. This is due to emphasis on wealth acquisition by what ever means, as society no longer questions source of wealth. There has always been economic hardship, but the older generation was honourable in pursuit of livelihood. I know how my family and others managed to survive amidst biting economic hardship, but we never resorted to dubious means to gain wealth.

It’s easy to see why Lagos youths are embracing the soft life and hookup culture — life is tough, and everyone wants comfort, freedom, and happiness. But while this lifestyle looks appealing on the surface, it also raises some tough questions we shouldn’t ignore.

1. The Illusion of Soft Life
Many Lagos youths flaunt luxury lifestyles online, but the truth is, a lot of it is built on borrowed money, fake designer clothes, or “packaging” for social media. The pressure to live soft often leaves young people chasing appearances instead of building real financial stability. Comfort today without planning for tomorrow can easily become hardship later.

2. Hookup Culture and Emotional Costs
Yes, casual relationships sound freeing, but they can also leave people emotionally drained. Deep down, most humans crave connection and loyalty. Constant hookups may satisfy the body, but do they truly satisfy the heart? A generation chasing freedom might also be quietly battling loneliness.

3. Tradition Isn’t Always the Enemy
While older generations may seem out of touch, not all their values are outdated. Marriage, family, and community have historically provided Nigerians with a safety net during hard times. Completely discarding these structures may leave many young people isolated when challenges come.

4. Balance Over Extremes
Soft life and hookup culture shouldn’t be demonized — but they also shouldn’t replace long-term thinking. True independence comes from financial literacy, skill-building, and self-discovery, not just enjoyment and casual flings. A balanced approach means enjoying today while still preparing for tomorrow.

Lagos youths are rewriting culture, no doubt. But the real “soft life” isn’t just about popping champagne or jetting to Dubai. It’s about building a future where freedom, happiness, and security go hand in hand. The question is: will this generation find that balance, or get lost in the glitter of the moment?

Jobs/VacanciesI Currently Have A Remote Job That Pays Over ₦400k by AngelSlay(op): 4:00pm On Aug 31, 2025
From DM
I currently have a remote job that pays over ₦500k (Monday to Friday only). The good part is, my boss usually comes online in the afternoons, so I have my mornings free and still get some personal time.

Recently, I received another offer for a restaurant manager role that pays ₦250k. The job is six days a week with one off-day, plus daily feeding and HMO after six months. Transport to the place will cost about ₦1k daily.

I also have a young family of two, and my wife is running her own business.

Because of the current situation in the country, I’m tempted to take on the restaurant job alongside my remote work. But I’m not sure if it’s the right move.

Please, I need some advice.

This story is disturbing on many levels. On the surface, it sounds like another scandal meant to embarrass Thailand’s Buddhist institution — but looking deeper, it raises some serious concerns.

First, the actions of “Ms Golf” are clearly criminal if the allegations are true. Extorting money through sex tapes is not only illegal but also deeply manipulative. That said, the fact that so many monks were involved points to a much bigger problem inside the religious order itself. If monks — who are meant to live celibate, disciplined lives — were so easily compromised, it suggests that moral decay and lack of accountability within the institution have left them vulnerable.

This shouldn’t just be seen as a “woman seduced monks” scandal. It’s a reminder that when spiritual leaders fail to uphold the values they preach, the entire faith community suffers. And when institutions don’t create strong checks and balances, they open the door to exploitation.

At the end of the day, both the alleged blackmailer and the monks who broke their vows have a share of responsibility. But the real tragedy is the loss of trust ordinary people may now feel toward their religious leaders.

In what will come across as a really shocking development, a Thai woman known as Seeka Golf, has left many people completely stunned after it was discovered that she seduced and slept with over 20 Buddhist monks.

Thai police have arrested the woman who allegedly had sexual relations with monks, and then used photos and videos of the acts to extort money from them.

The woman, who police are calling "Ms Golf", had sex with the monks, police said at a press conference on Tuesday. They believe she received around 385 million baht ($11.9m; £8.8m) over the past three years.

Investigators who searched her house found more than 80,000 photos and videos used to blackmail the monks, the police spokesman said.

This scandal is the latest to rock Thailand's much revered Buddhist institution, which in recent years has been plagued with allegations of monks engaging in sex offences and drug trafficking.
FamilyRe: The Danger Of Gehgeh’s ‘wisdom’! by AngelSlay: 9:31am On Aug 26, 2025
As a guy, Geh Geh’s teachings should only guide you on how not to be used by women.
It doesn’t mean you should become toxic towards them.

When you meet a woman who genuinely loves you, reciprocate with the same energy.
His message also applies to women—don’t take advantage of men, treat them right.

If you misinterpret his videos, you’re missing the point.

No matter how polluted love may seem these days, always experience people for yourself—
not based on public opinion or past relationships.

The iphone they sell in Nigeria are all repackaged. Explain to me how my Aunt bought a phone in Nigeria and it had issues and went to their shop abroad when she went for vacation for repair and it was a stolen phone.

Have you tasted some powdered beverages abroad? You will know the one they sell here in Nigeria, they are killing you slowly in Nigeria.

⚠️ Be Careful When Choosing a Roommate

Having a roommate can help reduce costs and provide companionship, but it also comes with risks. Your safety and peace of mind should always come first.

Security Tips for Choosing a Roommate:

1. Background Check – Know who they are. Ask about their workplace, school, or previous residence.

2. References – If possible, speak to someone who has lived with them before.

3. Clear Rules – Set boundaries on visitors, bills, chores, and shared items.

4. Secure Your Space – Lock your room when you’re away. Keep valuables in a safe spot.

5. Trust Your Instincts – If something feels off, don’t ignore it.

👉 Remember: Not everyone is who they appear to be. Protect your home, protect yourself.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Jobs with accommodation or House ️ hunters by AngelSlay(op): 6:52pm On Aug 25, 2025
Having a roommate can be a great way to save money, share responsibilities, and have companionship — but it also comes with rules and boundaries to avoid conflict. Here are the key rules you should know (some are general, while others can be agreed upon between you and your roommate):

---

1. Legal & Housing Rules

Landlord/Lease Agreement: Some landlords require written permission before bringing in a roommate. Always check your tenancy agreement.

Payment Responsibility: Even if you and your roommate split rent, the landlord usually holds the main tenant responsible. Make sure payments are clear and on time.

Subletting Rules: In some places, taking a roommate without approval counts as subletting, which may be against the law or contract.

---

2. Financial Rules

Rent & Bills: Decide upfront how rent, utilities, and internet will be split (equally or proportionally to room size).

Shared Purchases: Agree on who buys shared items (toilet paper, cleaning supplies, cooking oil, etc.) to avoid “free riding.”

Deposits: If you paid a security deposit, clarify what happens if your roommate damages something.

---

3. Household Rules

Cleanliness: Set standards for cleaning—like a cleaning schedule or division of chores.

Guests: Agree on how often friends, partners, or family members can visit or stay overnight.

Noise: Set quiet hours (especially if someone studies or works from home).

Food: Decide if groceries are communal or separate. Avoid eating each other’s food without permission.

---

4. Personal Boundaries

Privacy: Respect each other’s rooms and belongings—always knock before entering.

Conflict Resolution: Address issues directly and respectfully before they build up.

Lifestyle Compatibility: Discuss habits (smoking, drinking, partying, early rising, late nights) to prevent friction.

---

5. Safety & Security

Locks/Keys: Each roommate should have their own key, and doors/windows should be kept secure.

Visitors: No stranger should be allowed to move in without discussion.

Emergencies: Share important contacts (next of kin, landlord, security, etc.).

---

✅ Pro Tip: It helps to write a simple “Roommate Agreement” — a one-page document covering rent, bills, chores, and rules — so expectations are clear from day one.
