CelebritiesRe: The Matter Of "Beyonce" Vs "Mrs Carter" by anitank(f): 8:39pm On Feb 08, 2013
Flytefalls: Hmmm. I think now is the time, in the spirit of equality, we allow people to just be. Fame is subjective, and I assume feminists see, hear and feel Beyonce’s presence and liken it to their own ideology and values (which aren't so bad, but is confusing and in an ever-evolving state). Beyonce has spoken of being a feminist, but I question her understanding as I do question my own understanding on the topic. I would say she is more a “post-feminist” icon. She is strong willed and independent, etc but allows herself to indulge in her sexuality. Yes, she can strip if she wants to! Much like the self-confessed "Girls" actress and feminist Lena Dunham who said in an interview:

Q:You seem incredibly tolerant and cheerful all the time. What gets under your skin?
A:Women saying ‘I’m not a feminist’ is my greatest pet peeve. Do you believe that women should be paid the same for doing the same jobs? Do you believe that women should be allowed to leave the house? Do you think that women and men both deserve equal rights? Great, then you’re a feminist. People think there is something taboo about speaking up for feminism. I know for a long time that I was embarrassed to call out misogyny because I was then going to be that complaining girl who can’t let it go. But the fact is, we can’t let it go – not until we feel like we have been heard.

Is it more acceptible for Lena to get nak3d in every episode because her body is more "average Jane"? Beyonce practices her own understanding of feminism and it shouldn’t be held to ransom by any group. For example, I have long since stopped seeing her as a “black” artist, but she may idenify herself as one. I don't care.

Beyonce is just one woman who has made a tremendous success of herself and her brand. She is growing older, and is married with a child. In my eyes, she is non-comparable to Rihanna. With good reason, the public spoke out against Chris Brown when Rihanna was beaten up, but she herself has now made her own decision. Many brows have been raised. Not my own, I don't care. Beyonce’s music will evolve and this is the direction she has decided to take her brand. Successful step? We will see..... and I will carrying on trying not to care tongue

@ Shollypopz (the male rebooted version lol): I agree her fan-base will shift, but I see it as a healthy evolution.
@ La Parisenne: Ditto to everything you said! grin
@ OD: I can see Madonna being an icon of yours... so clearly (hahahahahagrin)
@pro01 and deepwaters: We share some views there. Famous young women should be encouraged to evolve throughout their careers if they span so long that they become mothers, wives, priests, whatever. This isn't sexist, just reasonable. Perhaps it will change/relax public expectations of such women smiley... I mean, just look at Madonna now in those leotards!(shudders).
u know for someone who actually doesn't care, u sure do have a lot of conspiracy theories.
Beyonce has always been successful from way back when, and am sure whatever she decides to do now will also be a success as always. Besides, its not like she's changing her name from Beyonce to Mrs.Carter, It's only the name she wants to use for her tour (and i see no wrong in that).

I think we should all let her be jare. It's her life and should do whatever she wants with it, not what the people, her fans or the the so called feminists (whoever they are) think. She's got more money than any of us here will acquire in a lifetime so why we de drink panadol for her headache?
see why they face heartbreaks and rejection,

UNTIL OUR LADIES START DEVELOPING SELFCONTROL,HEARTBREAKS CONTInue
And by that u mean that hearts will not be broken when u don't have s-ex before marriagehuh.......pssss! I just wonder how some so called mature people think sometimes.
Look my dear, I've seen a situation where a lady found out her husband was impotent AFTER her wedding simply because the man told her he didn't want to sleep with her till they're legally married and she stupidly fell for it. Has her heart still not been broken even when she did what she taught was the right thing?

Hell NO, I'll not wait to make the same mistake before I learn but from other people's experience. And if u have a problem with me saying I can't get married to a man am not sexually attracted to, then that's ur opinion. I didn't say I'd go about sleeeping with every man that comes my way but when I meet that special one that makes me happy, it's definitely bound to happen.

When I talk about life being a risk, I like keeping an open mind to things because u end up getting disappointed when u push ur luck too far. So if it happens, great.... but if not, u dust urslef up and move the f-uck on!!!

And don't come here giving me that holier than thou attitude simply I said it the way it is. This is why we Africans never grow because we tend to keep lying to even ourselves.......mtchew!!

RomanceRe: A Thread for Single Ladies :) by anitank(f): 8:50am On Feb 03, 2013
A little something from me....

Ladies u shouldn't sit around waiting for that "perfect" guy to come becos truth is, they never might until u make it happen. U should also not wait for that guy that has no girlfrnd at all because the reason they have more than 5 of them is because he wants to choose the best that suits him most.

You want to standout from other girls and win ur man over? The first thing to do is give him as much freedom as u can. Men do not want ladies that are too clingy, calling them eveery second to know where they are. Giving him enough room allows him to miss u and want to spend more time with u.

You cannot come from nowhere and expect ur man to change overnight because of u. The only thing he'd change is his phone number cos he'd likely flee from u. A man wants u to accept him for who he is without judging or critisizing. Cook that meal he likes even if u think its crap, watch his favorite sports with him without complaining(personally I love football so this one is pretty easy for me), laugh at his jokes no matter boring they are grin

Pay attention. As much as he's a man, he's still vulnerable. He doesn't want to sit down all day and listen to u talk about ur endless problems, he also needs u to listen to his. U don't have to know what to do to solve the problem, but showing him how much u're by his side at those trying times gives him that sense of belongingness. He'd feel drawn to u with this single act trust me

Independence is one thing EVERY man wants to see in his woman. He wants to know that u can survive without him even if the relationship doesn't work out(very bitter truth). A man who knows how much strong you'd be and move on real fast after a heartbreak would never want to leave you. That is the kind of woman he'd want to hand over his affairs to without having doubt because he knows that no matter what, u'd be strong enough to handle anything that comes ur way.

Jeez! My thumbs are aching. These are the basic things I can remember. Will add more later. But no matter how little u think things are, they go a long way in making that guy just do nothing but think of u cheesy

Ok i wasn't exactly sure where to post this.......but i'm here anyway.

I've had couple of encounters where the seller gives me excess 'change' after i'm done buying something, be it grocery, recharge cards, even bus conductors. Most times i return the money but sincerely, a few other times i get tempted not to. embarassed

So tell me, have you ever been given excess change and how often? Do you return the money or you just spend it?
