APC South-East Wing and Their Penchant To Live A Lie, by Onyedikachukwu Anambra .
You can find most pathetic Buharist in southeast, it’s a worldwide knowledge that Buhari has failed but these blokes will always sing us alleluia on how Buhari is building infrastructures, audio infrastructures.
Their counterparts in southwest are already discussing 2023 presidential election likewise the ones of northern extraction. My people are sidelined yet they are using fake pictures and propaganda to serve as ventriloquist for Buhari.
Our federal roads became worst under Buhari, there is no single motorable Federal road in entire southeast, you can disagree . The much touted Already Abandoned Enugu Osha expressway is not yet anywhere near 20% , the Niger bridge which Buhari inherited from GEJ isn’t gonna be ready by 2025.
I don’t really know when our people became dummies or we wants to be intentionally mischievous, the celebration about ship berthing in Onitsha, how can a ship sail on river without dredging ? The delusional euphoric exhibition still got thinking.
How price of foods got tripled in the market amidst Buhari’s audio agricultural revolution is another pointer , how can you ban importation when you are yet to be self sufficient, unwise decision.

The immediate past Governor òf Bayelsa State, Chief Henry Seriake Dickson, has urged Bayelsans not to be perturbed by the judgment of the Election Petition Tribunal which annulled the state Governorship election on Monday.
He described the judgment as a temporary setback which does not in law affect the status quo until appeal processes are exhausted.
The former Governor said in a statement by His Media Advisor, Mr Fidelis Soriwei, on Monday that the PDP and the Government would appeal the judgment.
He stressed that there was no vacancy in the Bayelsa Government House as Diri remains Governor until a final decision on the issue was reached at the Supreme Court.
Chief Dickson urged Bayelsans to go about their lawful duties without any disturbance because of the judgment on the suit filed by the Advanced Nigerian Democratic Party against its purported exclusion in the election by INEC.
He said, “I urge Bayelsans to remain calm. They shouldn’t misinterpret what took place at the tribunal today.
“The judgment is a temporary setback which does not have any effect on the status quo until all processes of appeal are exhausted.
“There is no vacancy in the Bayelsa Government House. Diri remains Governor until the Supreme Court decides.
“Of course what this means is that the PDP will appeal this decision.
FCCPC SEALS APPLES AND PEARS BUSINESS LOCATION FOR EXPIRED/EXPIRING INVENTORIES AND UNSAFE FOOD/PRODUCT HANDLING
Pursuant to Sections 17(g), (m), (s), (t), (x); 123(1)(c); 131 of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA)
Thursday, August 13, 2020: On Tuesday August 11, 2020, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) became aware of representations appearing to show that a consumer, (and presumably others) purchased Laziz vegetable oil in sachets produced by Apple & Pears Ltd from their retail/storage location in Abuja. The representation suggested that the food products purchased were expired, even at the time of purchase.
Upon further investigation and reconnaissance, the Commission discovered the company’s primary facility on the Lagos-Ibadan Express Way. Although locked, innocuous and without signage, the Commission also identified the specific location in Abuja where the company had stored its products.
Having sufficient initial evidence to proceed on enforcement, the Commission conducted investigations at both the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, and Abuja locations. The Commission discovered unreasonably large and inexplicable inventories of Laziz salad cream, Laziz mayonnaise, Laziz vegetable oil in sachets, and Laziz Thousand Island salad cream. In addition, the Commission uncovered what appears to be unapproved and unsafe production, decanting, or repackaging of vegetable oil at the Abuja location.
The location in Abuja is currently under seal by the Commission, and will remain so until the Commission and NAFDAC have confiscated the expired or unwholesome products, and are otherwise satisfied that Apples and Pears can, and will operate safely and legally.
The Commission commends the patriotism of those who bring these pieces of information to the Commission’s attention and encourages consumers to exercise their prerogatives and discretion to notify the Commission of conduct that is considered unsafe, illegal, or unsatisfactory.

This lady was sacked by her Chinese employers at Inner Galaxy group, because a Chinese MASTER solicited for paid SEX from her, and she declined.
This man was injured right inside the company premises, while on production duty. His foot was amputated, because of the level of damage. Up till this very moment, he has not been compensated, but has long been sacked by the company.
The government of Abia State @Abiastategov is fully aware of these atrocities, the governor of Abia state OKEZIE IKPEAZU @GovernorIkpeazu is fully aware. In fact, the governor is a regular visitor to INNER GALAXY GROUP. But he chose to be silent, despite all the atrocities.
INNER GALAXY GROUP, has Abia state government, in it's armpits, in the name of "Employers of labour" They bought over the @PoliceNG & the @HQNigerianArmy around them with bribes. They now detect to the Army & police how to treat & oppress Nigerians, who are their employees.
Chinese MASTERS will use derogatory words on Nigerian employees, and you dare not talk back at them. Because the consequence is grievous. After the physical assaults you will get, you will still be sacked. Chinese MASTERS will boast of killing you, & getting away with it.
Nigerians are treated worst than second class citizens. The Chinese treat their Nigerian employees as lesser humans in their own soil.
Here is the canteen the company provided for their Nigerian workers, to go have their meals.
See where Chinese employers, Masters and Mistress of Inner Galaxy group do have their meals. I sneaked in a secret camera to capture this. Please compare it to what Nigerians use, and see the difference, for yourself.
For over 3 months & counting, Inner Galaxy Group has been holding workers on hostage because of covid19. They locked the gates, denying workers access to go home. If you dare complain, the @PoliceNG DPO of Obehie police station CSP Isiguzo will be called, to arrest you.
Workers are camped in a prison like accommodation provided by the company before now.
See where Nigerian workers of inner Galaxy group sleep, after 13 hours of tedious job daily.
It is truly heartbreaking to see what fellow Nigerians, are reduced to. Because of government insensitivity, and the high rate of unemployment. Chinese now feel they are doing us favour, by treating Nigerians as slaves in our own country, in the area of employment.
With the little i know, it is only prisoners that are subjected to these type of dirty environment and accommodations in Nigeria.
Nigeria has failed are citizens, @Abiastategov has failed her people. Okezie Ikpeazu @GovernorIkpeazu is a failure.
@hartng
Cameras are allover the company, monitoring activities of workers daily. Workers can not gather themselves for any reason whatsoever. They can't form Union, they can't protest or press on for any demands. The Army Barracks around, is been used at will. Just like police.
Here some workers protested the dehumanizing conditions, they are subjected to daily by Inner Galaxy group. They were rounded up right inside the company, beating up, and sacked.
On a final note, let me state it here categorically that, out of over 1000 Nigerian workers with Inner Galaxy group, it was in June that the company gave 18 employees offer letters. Out of over 1000 workers.
IT IS NOT A GUARANTEE THAT, THEY CAN'T BE SACKED ANY TIME.
@fisayosoyombo @segalink, I took my investigations to INNER GALAXY GROUP. A Chinese modern day slave camp, right inside Nigeria. This company is located at Umuahala, Obuzor Asa, in Ukwa West LGA of Abia State. My revelation is heart breaking, to say the least. @hartng
This company has over 1000 Nigerian workers, working under the most dehumanizing conditions ever known to mankind. They resume work as early as 6am, & close as late as 7pm daily. Monday till Sunday.
NO LEAVE.
NO OFF.
NO EXCUSE.
NO OFFER LETTER.
NO EMPLOYMENT LETTER.
A worker can be employed today, & be sacked that same day for no reason. Every day & minute in that company, could be your last, as a Nigerian worker. There is no job security, or job guarantee. They will sack workers, chase them away with Army or police, never to return.
Just like a slave, and a slave master relationship. Every Nigerian in that company is mandated to call their Chinese employers MASTER or MISTRESS. failure to do that, attracts a direct sack. Nigerians are violated and molested by their Chinese employers daily.
Male Nigerian workers are physically assaulted, why their female counterparts are sexually assaulted without any consequence. For instance. A Chinese MASTER in inner Galaxy, instructed soldiers to beat up this Nigerian worker like this

The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has invited President Muhammadu Buhari to commission the 29-kilometre Ogbia-Nembe Road in Bayelsa State. The road, built in conjunction with the Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, creates a land link to the ancient city of Nembe for the first time.
The Commission’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Charles Odili disclosed this in Abuja after delivering the NDDC management’s invitation to Mr President through the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
Odili noted that the road project, which costs N24 billion, cutting through swampy terrain with spurs to 14 other communities, needed 10 bridges and 99 culverts. “To conquer the swampy terrain. The construction involved digging out four metres of clay soil and sand filling it to provide a base for the road,” he observed.
Significantly, he said, “the road has cut the journey time to Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, from three hours to one and a half hours.”
Odili said the joy of the communities served by the road was unspeakable, noting: “This project is a not only a flag ship of intervention in the Niger Delta, it is also a model of development partnership between the Commission and international oil companies in the region.”
Odili also disclosed that scholars of the Commission who are facing hardships abroad because of the non-remittance of their fees and stipends would be paid by the end of the week, following the order of President Buhari.
He said the delay in the remittance of the fees was caused by the sudden death of Chief Ibanga Etang, the then Acting Executive Director, Finance and Administration, EDFA, of the Commission in May.
Odili stated: “Under the Commission’s finance protocol, only the Executive Director (Finance) and the Executive Director (Projects) can sign for the release of funds from the Commission’s domiciliary accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
“With the death of Chief Etang, the remittance has to await the appointment of a new EDFA.”
Odili said further: “Senator Akpabio, the Honourable Minister, said President Buhari who has been briefed on the protest by students at the Nigerian High Commission in London, has ordered that all stops be pulled to pay the students by the end of this week. We expect a new EDFA to be appointed this week. As soon as that is done, they would all be paid.”
On the list of NDDC contracts handled by members of the National Assembly, Odili said, the one submitted by Senator Akpabio was not compiled by the minister but came from the files in the Commission.
The NDDC spokesperson said the list submitted to the National Assembly was actually compiled by the then management of the Commission in 2018. He observed that there was another set of lists for emergency project contracts awarded in 2017 and 2019 but these were not submitted to the National Assembly.
Odili affirmed: “The Interim Management Committee, IMC, of the Commission stands by the list, which came from files already in the possession of the forensic auditors. It is not an Akpabio list but the NDDC’s list. The list is part of the volume of 8,000 documents already handed over to the forensic auditors.”
The NDDC Corporate Affairs Director also said that prominent indigenes of the Niger Delta whose names were on the list should not panic as the Commission knew that people used the names of prominent persons in the region to secure contracts, adding that the ongoing forensic audit would unearth those behind the contracts.
The spokesperson said the intention of the list was to expose committee chairmen in the National Assembly who used fronts to collect contracts from the Commission, some of which were never executed.
Odili added that the list did not include the unique case of 250 contracts which were signed for and collected in one day by one person ostensibly for members of the National Assembly.
On the forensic audit exercise, he said that it was on course and the Commission had positioned 185 media support specialists to identify the sites of every project captured in its books for verification by the forensic auditors.
Odili advised members of the public to discountenance the “avalanche of falsehood being orchestrated by mischief makers,” regretting that “more insinuations and accusations may be thrown into the public space by those opposed to the IMC.”
Shoprite Not Leaving Nigeria- Insider Shares The Details Of The Corporate Restructuring
Shoprite, Africa’s largest food retailer, announced on Monday it is considering selling off its majority share in its Nigerian subsidiary.
In a trading update filed at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), the retail giant said it has begun the formal process of liquidating its majority share.
“Following approaches from various potential investors, and in line with our re-evaluation of the group’s operating model in Nigeria, the board has decided to initiate a formal process to consider the potential sale of all, or a majority stake, in Retail Supermarkets Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary of Shoprite International Limited. As such, Retail Supermarkets Nigeria Limited may be classified as a discontinued operation when Shoprite reports its results for the year,’’ it said.
TheCable understands there is a corporate tussle among three entities to bite into the larger stake of the retailer.
Persianas Nigeria Limited, a property development company, owned by Tayo Amusan, is said to be the preferred bidder for the Shoprite stake.
Amusan is a businessman invested in property development. Some of his properties house the stores of Shoprite.
Amusan founded Persianas in 1990. In 2004, he launched, The Palms. Owing to the success of The Palms in Lagos, he floated three additional malls in Enugu, Kwara, Ota and Ibadan.
Amusan sits on the board of several Nigerian companies, including African Paints Nigeria Limited, and he is also the chairman of Resourcery Limited.
The two other contenders are said to be another property development company but with links to a foreign country, and a South African company backed by South Africa’s pension fund. Though Amusan is mooted to be the favoured investor, the other bidders are pushing negotiations hard.
TheCable understands the deal will involve Shoprite retaining the management of its chain of operations, brand name, trademarks, and supply chain.
In an internal memo of July 31 seen by TheCable, Carl Erickson, general manager of the retailer, informed employees that the revision in the business is to make the company ‘’truly Nigerian’’.
The memo read: “The expansion of the retail business in Nigeria to a greater consumer market should remain everybody’s shared vision. It has, however, become apparent that the best manner in which to do this is by engaging Nigerian investors who share in this vision. In so doing we will be creating a truly Nigerian business run and owned by Nigerians for the Nigerian market.”
Shoprite posted a sharp decline in sales of 6.3 percent in the 2020 fiscal year.
The retailer launched in Nigeria nearly 15 years ago, opening its first store in Lagos in December 2005.
That chain has grown from one to more than 25 retail stores across Nigeria — including some of the biggest retail stores in west Africa.
The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) Apapa Branch recently expressed concern over the imminent closure of the Third Mainland Bridge.
It is worthy of note that on the average, more than 117,000 vehicles ply the Third Mainland Bridge daily. That statistic raises the question of what alternative route would suffice for the more than 1 million daily commuters of the bridge.
That concern was raised recently by Engr. Frank Onyebu, chairman, Apapa Branch of the MAN who used the occasion to appeal to the government to delay commencement of work on the Third Mainland Bridge until some of the alternative access routes are completed and opened to traffic.
Although maintenance of the bridge is a necessity, the timing and planning rightly raises socio-economic concerns because the existing alternative routes have their inherent traffic problems that make it improbable to absorb the burden from the TMB. The alternatives are already facing some degrees of closure.
Eko Bridge is littered with trucks queuing to gain entry into the Apapa Port, which narrows the four lane road to two. Access to Carter Bridge is hampered by bad roads. Getting to and from the island via the Apapa route has been a nightmare for close to a decade and counting due to traffic congestion. Hence, passing part of the traffic burden to an already congested Apapa road would only exacerbate the already messy situation there.
The situation promises to inflict further economic loss emanating from extant traffic gridlock on the Apapa Road.
Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry survey in partnership with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria and other OPS outfits reckon that Nigeria loses about N3.06 trillion (or $10 billion) on non-oil export and about N2.5 trillion corporate earnings across the sectors annually to the challenge.
It would be difficult to gainsay the above statistics considering the fact that daily traffic lock jam creates problems for exporters and importers desirous of meeting deadlines to supply or take delivery of their products.
Stationary traffic stretches from the ports to Fadeyi on Ikorodu Road, a distance of about 20.8 kilometres. Five thousand tankers/trailers invade Apapa daily for business. Every effort by the government in the past to end the bottleneck has failed woefully, principally because the roads are decrepit and observance of the law is in breach.
Consequently, cargo dwell time at the ports has increased to 22 days. This is against the global best business practices in the maritime trade, as it is the longest in the West Africa sub-region. Comparatively, the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Organisation says that cargo dwell time in Togo is nine days; 14 days in Benin Republic; and 15 days in Ghana. One report says “with a capacity of 3 million twenty-foot equivalent units (which is far less than South Africa’s volume of 5.5 million TEUs), the Nigeria Customs Service should have realised as much as N1.25 trillion as against the N692 billion it made from 1.5 million TEUs in 2017.”
The scenario reduces the potential for job creation in Nigeria’s maritime sector. For instance, 25 per cent of perishable products like cashew, which was being exported to Vietnam in 2017, rotted away after overstaying for weeks at the ports.
For employment, it is another kettle of fish. The Lagos ports employ about 35,000 workers; in South Africa, 700,000 people are employed at its ports. Industrial capacity utilisation, which stood at 53-60 per cent in 2015, declined to 38-40 per cent in 2017, still owing to traffic gridlock. A few years ago, billionaire business magnate, Aliko Dangote, raised the alarm that Nigeria was losing N140 billion weekly to the debacle.
On the larger economic scale, the general public suffers as the prices of commodities, especially imported items must be passed on to final consumers.
At present, it takes at least one month for any truck to make a round trip in and out of any Lagos port. By round trip, it means accessing any of the ports from any part of Lagos, picking a container, taking it to any location within Lagos and returning the empty container to the port or any of the bonded terminals. The situation has in fact, become so bad that currently, an average truck spends lesser time going to Onitsha or Kano than transporting goods within Lagos. It may seem surreal, but it is the true situation of things in the maritime sector. This is no thanks to the poor state of the roads leading to and out of the Ports.
Consequently, a Lagos local delivery which would ordinarily take a day or two, depending on time of loading and exit from the ports, now takes one month or more.
But the immediate result of the poor state of the road and obvious insincerity of government in tackling the ugly situation is the huge loss to government revenue profile, aside crippling other business activities.
For example, haulage owners who had borne the brunt for too long, recently resorted to raising their fares, if only to accommodate the losses they incur on account of the weeks and months their trucks are on queue. In the process, the cost of delivering goods from the Ports to any destination in Lagos, has jumped from less than N100,000 to N600,000 – a cost that is ultimately borne by the final consumer, in this case the already starving poor masses.
With the impending pressure on the Apapa Road, Nigeria will witness another round of hike in the prices of commodities, especially imported items, in the days ahead.
Aside crude oil, the next major source of revenue for the federal government is from import duties. Not fewer than 85 percent of the import duties, incidentally, accrue from Lagos ports, given that other ports in the country are under various levels of underutilization, or totally abandoned, in some instances. But the revenue accruing from the Lagos ports, may soon witness a drastic drop if not complete halt, if the government keeps paying lip service to the challenge of inaccessibility to or from the Ports.
The residents are not spared the harrowing ordeal either. Due to the perennial gridlock in the area, some residents have resorted to seeking accommodation in other parts of Lagos, which has resulted in loss of rental income and property value.
It was in this sentiment that Engr. Frank Onyebu told LEADERSHIP that his association had issued a statement to the Lagos State Government appealing to delay the planned closure of the Third Mainland Bridge until the alternative routes to traverse the mainland and island are put in better condition and eased of traffic congestion. He said the manufacturing sector is already suffering because of COVID-19, and any further congestion would be an economic disaster.
Adding his voice, the chapter chair of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarder (NAGAFF), Dr. Segun Musa, said Apapa would have been a good alternative route, but the route was already congested, which smacks lack of planning.
He said the essence of transportation is to move from one place to another, adding that Lagos is replete with waterways that should make movement seamless and intermodal to cover the transportation gap.
He said the Third Mainland Bridge should have been planned long before now, and that its impending maintenance exercise will be a headache that all will be forced to surmount, because there is no transportation policy.
Musa also raised concern that the maintenance work is scheduled to last six months; and that there is no certainty that government will deliver the maintenance exercise on time
On Thursday, President Muhammadu Buhari caused a sensation on the internet after a picture of him wearing a face mask emerged. Buhari was captured putting on a mask as he disembarked from the presidential jet in Bamako, the Malian capital. The president was in that country to join other leaders in the West Africa region in finding solutions to political upheavals in the francophone country.
For the first time since COVID-19 pandemic struck, Buhari wore mask and that didn’t go unnoticed by Nigerians, many of whom took to social media platforms to comment on it. For supporters of the president, it was nothing unusual, but critics sharply differ, knocking Buhari for waiting this long before using a mask in public.
Nigeria first recorded COVID-19 infection in February and since then, the disease has spread to infect nearly 40,000 Nigerians, out of which 833 have died. Initially, the Nigerian government shutdown parts of the country to limit the spread of the disease, but concerns for economic impacts persuaded the government to ease lockdowns and mandate precautionary measures to slow down the rate of infections.
One of those precautionary measures is wearing masks in public, which experts advised will help contain the spread of the dreaded virus. By May, the presidential task force (PTF) on COVID-19 took a definite position on face masks, making it mandatory for anyone to use it whenever they are outside or in a gathering.
In the document signed by the Secretary to the Government of Federation (SGF), who is also the chairman of PTF on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, the government noted that “Anyone without face mask/covering will be asked to return home and will be prosecuted.” Clarifying misconception on the usage of masks, Mustapha at the 31st joint national briefing of the taskforce emphatically said usage of a mask is not optional since “it was part of the declaration that was signed by Mr. President.”
So, the use of masks is binding on everyone or so we were made to believe. Because not long after it became mandatory, the president, would not only undermine the guideline his signature helped forced into law but not wearing a mask going by pictures of appearances as he had ordered weakened public resolve to adhere to that guideline.
It is indisputable that wearing a mask in public slows down the spread of the dreaded coronavirus and in turn saves lives, but having a president not using it stirred doubts. That is why most of his appearances without a mask on stirs debate and fuelled questions on the commitment to his administration’s guideline “to help block the spread of the respiratory droplets from person to person.”
When the questions keep coming, a presidential aide, Lauretta Onochie tried to shrug off concerns by pointing out that Buhari was restricted to Aso Rock and can choose not to use a mask because he was in a safe environment. But what she failed to realize or probably ignored, was the message that the president was sending to millions of Nigerians that wearing a mask is not as important as been painted. Because in that ‘safe environment’, top government officials, some of who later tested positive for the virus, visit more often.
Even when his closest aide, Abba Kyari, the late Chief of Staff, was lost to the virus, the president wouldn’t yield and continue to attend meetings without wearing masks. Let us get something clear here, Buhari may not have fouled the law has argued by his aide, but what happens to leading by example? The president has a duty to inspire people to do things he believes will shield them from a rampaging enemy.
That is what Lauretta or anyone pushing back at criticisms of the president’s no mask posture failed to recognize or they are just, as usual, trying to play political correctness. And when Buhari chose to wear a mask, it was in a foreign land and appeared he did so because he was attending meetings of other leaders in the West Africa region, knowing so well its essence.
Imagine if Buhari had been wearing a mask when his administration mandated it for citizens, and how it could have encouraged millions of Nigerians to keep to the life-saving measure because their president also uses it. What about limiting infections because more people will realize how important using a mask is since the president has it on? These and more are what Buhari mask could have done for Nigerians but once again, the president did almost nothing.
In the past 48 hours, a digital photograph of a wooden bridge allegedly constructed by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, at Elebele in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has been trending on social media. According to the post, the NDDC built the wooden bridge at a cost of N2.3 billion. This is fake news.
The Commission hereby declares that it has no such project at Elebele. We have gone through our records for the past 18 years and there is even no contract offer for the construction of a bridge in the community.
The Elebele community in 2018 sought the assistance of the Commission to rebuild the bridge which had collapsed. The proposal is still going through our system and is presently at the design stage. While awaiting NDDC’s intervention, the Community undertook a self-help project and built the wooden bridge. It has no NDDC input. NDDC has not paid out any money for it. In clear terms, this bridge has nothing to do with NDDC.
We urge our stakeholders to regard the post as part of the propaganda tactics of those who want the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, to be scrapped to deny the people of the region, the benefit of infrastructural and economic development. The fake photograph is a follow up to the false allegations and campaigns launched by these detractors of the Niger Delta Development Commission in the news and social media space and even at the recent public hearing by the National Assembly. These forces and their spokespersons are not from the Niger Delta. They are enemies of the region. The people of the Niger Delta have lined up behind President Muhammadu Buhari’s ordered forensic audit exercise. That exercise will account for how the projects undertaken by NDDC were done and bring to account those who failed in their responsibilities to the people of the Niger Delta Region.
The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC under its current leadership remains committed to ensuring the Commission achieves its core mandate as the interventionist agency for the Niger Delta region and its people.
For the avoidance of doubt, NDDC has some of the best engineers in Nigeria and the quality of their work are world class. Those in doubt should visit the 29-kilometre Ogbia-Nembe Road in Bayelsa, which cuts through the swamps with ten bridges and 99 culverts.
The road, constructed in partnership with Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, is ready for commissioning.

Following the recent partnership between PAN Nigeria Limited and Higer Bus Company Limited of China, the former has commenced the production of the Higer Bus in its plant in Kaduna. PAN Nigeria is the country’s foremost multi-brand automobile manufacturer and assembler.
Established in 1998, Higer Bus Company is Chinas leading exporter of buses and coaches, whose vehicles are available in more than 100 countries in Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas.
The models to be produced in Nigeria are Higer H5C 16-seats, Higer H6C 19-seats and Higer Ambulance. The vehicles, useful for mass transit, transportation of school children and ambulance services, started rolling off the company’s assembly lines in Kaduna in December 2019. The partnership also enables the delivery of city buses for mass intra-city bus services.
The Higer Bus comes with features such as charging ports for all passengers/occupants, park-assist, rear camera, DVD/15 LCD Display for passengers as well as spacious leg and head room. In addition, the Higer Ambulance is fitted with state-of-the-art medical equipment such as suction catheters, stretcher belts and anatomical mattress, silicon resuscitators with mask, pulse oximeter, digital thermometer, 2kg fire extinguisher, automatic loading stretcher, scoop stretcher, AC/DC electronic suction machine, oxygen regulator, among others.
The managing director of the Company, Mr Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed, said, “PAN Nigeria has a long rich history in the production of quality vehicles in Nigeria, which have proved to be durable and high performing. Some of the station wagon ambulances that we produced as far back as the 1980s are still being operated by some hospitals in urban and rural communities throughout the country.
Higer Ambulance and transport buses will follow this proud tradition of durability and quality.”
Mr Mohammed added that, “With the recent Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria, hospitals and other health establishments, along with their doctors, nurses and other personnel are currently going through trying times. There is a huge need today for many more ambulances to be supplied to this sector, and we are responding to this national challenge by opening up a new production line in our factory dedicated to producing these emergency medical vehicles.”
The company’s head of Quality, Mr Ojo Oladapo, said that “PAN Nigeria today has enough capacity to meet all the country’s need for ambulances, school buses and mass transit vehicles. The bulk of the interior fittings in the Higer Bus are sourced locally from suppliers spread across the country.
“Our factory currently has an installed capacity to produce 45,000 vehicles in a year. Producing these vehicles locally will deepen productive activities, create important backward linkages, increase employment and preserve foreign exchange. The new Higer Bus models will be marketed, distributed, and represented by PANs accredited dealers across the country.”
The common saying that “uneasy lies the head that wears the crown” seems to be the lot of Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.
A man with a cultured disposition and one that is not enamoured by the attractions of high office, Mr. Malami, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria has been in the saddle for over 5 years.
Malami’s fight against corruption in public offices has recently earned him the wrath of some jittery kleptomaniacs who see Government as an avenue for self enrichment rather than a tool for public good.
Due to his determination to recover Nigeria’s looted funds, some vested interests, and even fraudsters are now heaping insults and false accusations against him, all in a bid to break his will in continuing the fight.
Nonetheless, Abubakar Malami remains unshaken in his assigned task, as his love for country and loyalty to President Buhari’s anti-corruption fight is unequivocal and unquestionable.
Malami’s legal acumen helped Nigeria recover huge sums stashed in both local and foreign banks. One of such humongous recoveries is the repatriation of $311 million looted by Sani Abacha from the United States.
The effort he has so far invested in the recovery of looted funds should not be wasted on the altar of frivolous allegations and blackmail.
Under Malami’s watch, Nigeria today has no known political prisoner and for the first time since 1999. Gone were the days of arbitrary arrest and detention without trial.
The landmark political reforms the President Muhammadu Buhari administration has achieved cannot be divorced from the legal dexterity and huge inputs and initiative of AGF Malami’s Office.
Gradually, we are witnessing the recalibration of our justice system from the era of democratic impunity to one that is transparent and adheres strictly to the rule of law.
In these trying times of the nation’s history, we owe it a duty to ensure that well-meaning government officials like the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami are given the necessary support to realise the objective of ridding our country of corruption.
In spite of these achievements, Malami has refused to blow his own trumpet, rather he has chosen to maintain a dignifying silence, just as his principal-Buhari- and hoping that history would vindicate him.
As a consummate lawyer, he has been in the vanguard of the advocacy for good governance and integrity in governance and it is too late in the day to distract him from those lofty goals.
One can only implore him not to lose focus but devote his time and energy in ensuring that the cankerworm of corruption and dishonesty are eliminated from the Justice sector and the entire public service sector.
The exhaustive and daunting task of serving as the Chief Law Officer, in a nation like Nigeria is very diverse, complex and enormous. Despite these adjectives used to qualify the task before him, the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN) was not fazed and set out to reform the Justice sector as soon as his tenure commenced in November 2015.
During this period, Malami worked on several justice reforms in a bid to ensure that he left Nigeria’s justice system better than he met it.
One of such landmark reforms was the launch of the document called the National Judicial Policy (NJP), which points the nation’s direction in justice administration, particularly as it relates to criminal justice.
Furthermore, besides preparing and reviewing of court processes, and representing the Federal Government in litigation, the Federal Ministry of Justice, under Malami also designed a broad policy framework aimed at improving the judicial process and enhanced citizens’ access to justice.
Activities undertaken in this sphere includes the assessment of criminal cases that were being prosecuted by lay police prosecutors before the enactment of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015; the establishment of Justice Sector Reform Committees (JSRC) in about 26 states and the provision of sentencing guidelines for judges.
Under Malami, the Justice Ministry also established a Virtual Automated Case Management System (VACMS) which was intended to integrate prosecution data with the existing Prison Information Management System (PIMS) by incorporating an integrated biometrics prisoners information technology to fast track prison decongestion in Nigeria
In an interview, Malami was optimistic that the VACMS project “will bring a holistic improvement in the efficiency of the entire justice sector through transparency in detentions, investigations, clarity in prison operations, proper arraignment and speedy discharge of justice.
He further added that the VACMS project will bring about transparency in the prison population at a glance, prevent the incidence of “ghost prisoners” and help the government to accurately budget annually’’.
These innovative approaches and reforms are what the Nigerian Justice system have been crying out for since 1999 with other Justice Ministers turning a blind eye to the plight of the system. Malami’s name will surely be etched in gold when the scorecard of the Justice system that have since appeared to fail Nigerians will be prepared.
A lot has been said about the volume of looted funds stuck outside the shores of Nigeria with a little fraction being repatriated over time. This was the task before Abaubakar Malami (SAN) as he was well aware of the attention these funds have garnered over time.
. He quickly set out to ensure that the commonwealth of the Nation was not left in the hands of foreign nations. As soon as he was sworn in, Malami took the task like duck to water and has impressed Nigerians with what he has achieved till date.
In a bid to recover these funds, Malami ensured he fostered positive collaboration with foreign partners in a bid to effectively recover our commonwealth through the Asset Recovery and Management Unit (ARMU) of the Ministry of Justice.
He also ensured international and national cooperation in the recovery of stolen assets, Open Government Partnership (OGP) Initiatives (which are directed at ensuring transparency in the management of government’s affairs) and reforms of anti-corruption policy and electoral law.
Under his watch, the Federal Ministry of Justice, released the National Anti-Corruption Strategy Framework (NACSF)for collaboration by all the relevant agencies which revolves around five pillars, to include – prevention of corruption, public enlightenment, campaign for ethical re-orientation, enforcements and sanctions/recovery of proceeds of corruption
The NACSF was designed to identify and close existing gaps in the anti-corruption initiatives inherited by the administration and emphasise the institutionalisation of result-based systems and structures as well as appropriate incentives for increasing and sustaining citizens-driven anti-corruption crusade.
In coordinating the implementation of the Asset Recovery Campaign of the Federal Government, Malami worked with anti-corruption agencies, law enforcement and security agencies in the recovery of public funds stolen domestically and those transferred to offshore.
while his (Malami’s) efforts led to increased international engagement with more than seven countries: United Kingdom, United States of America, Switzerland, France, Italy, Island of Jersey and United Arab Emirate (UAE).
Malami was also instrumental in the repatriation of $321 million Abacha loot; the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between World Bank, Nigeria and Switzerland for the early return and transparent management of $322.5m stolen assets from Switzerland.
Most of the funds has since been repatriated back to Nigeria and is now being managed by the National Social Investment Office under the supervision of the World Bank.
Abubakar Malami’s immense contributions cannot be overemphasized. His ilk are what is needed if Nigeria is to regain its pillar and giant of Africa.

The former Governor who said that the body of Ijaw youth have made the Ijaw nation proud called on all leaders to give the needed support and encouragement new leadership to enable them to succeed.
He said, “I congratulate the President Elect Comrade Peter Timothy Igbifa and the other newly elected officers of the Ijaw Youth Congress in the recently concluded convention.

“I urge the new leadership of the IYC to stay away from all political and economic affiliations and focus on the core issues of Restructuring, Resource Control, environmental justice and greater inclusion in the Nigerian Federation and bringing about peace, law and order in our communities across Ijaw land without which there can be no development.”
Just like everything that has a start, the time of Ibrahim Magu at Nigeria’s premier anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reached its climax. But the manner of his exit was least expected and proved, once again, that power is anything but transient.
Last week Monday, Magu left home as the acting chairman of EFCC but that could well be the last time he would ever enjoy such privilege that comes from that office. This was because something spectacular happened, and Magu, who is used to putting suspects under the lens, was made to face a similar experience.
It happened so quickly and in the space of a few minutes, Magu’s status changed from being a hunter to the hunted. A detachment of security operatives who accosted him by the roadside, escorted him to the sitting of a presidential panel set-up to look at allegations levelled against him.
Afterward, President Muhammadu Buhari approved his suspension from the job, and the door appeared shut at Magu. To undiscerning observers, the fall of Magu appear sudden, or an unexpected turn. But that isn’t true, because the signs were there for long, only that few would have noticed.
The cast was down when Abubakar Malami, SAN, the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, wrote a damning memo to Buhari on Magu’s handling of the corruption fight, particularly, management of recovered loots. Malami isn’t just a minister, his ministry supervises the EFCC and his assessment of Magu is weighty and hard to ignore.
So, it was a tough knot and only a miracle would have let Magu off the hook and keep the job he has retained for over five years. Going by the announcement of Muhammed Umar as the new acting chairman of EFCC, the fate of Magu seems to have been sealed. Magu is out and so is the power he enjoyed while it lasted.
I’m sure Magu will be sore at how things turned out for him because the deference and influence that the office conferred on him are gone. This is an experience he must have done almost everything to avoid, however, here he is, swept off by change. Just like those before him, power is temporal, and no matter how hard one can try, it will still be gone one day.
Magu has faced that reality and what should now be his worry is how to bring himself to accept his new status. He’s no longer EFCC’s boss and has a hard job to prove to Nigerians that he isn’t the same, or even worse, than those he was meant to bring to account. The allegations against him are weighty and Nigerians will not be prepared to take ‘corruption is fighting back’ narrative to dodge questions on accountability.
By looking at Malami’s dossier on Magu, it would be safe to conclude that he has a lot of explanation to make. Those who have studied Magu’s crude display of power at EFCC would not find the memo of Malami too surprising, especially the part that has to do with insubordination. It was so glaring, and that almost creates the impression that Magu was overboard.
In truth, power oftentimes has a significant bearing, but it can be directed for good and not become an excuse to harass and ridicule people, whether high or low. That was something Magu serially ignored, or probably, let the arrogance of power get the better side of him, and turned everything about the anti-corruption fight as a show of strength.
But now, all of that is gone, Magu will have to deal with the vanity of power. In the process of adapting to the reality of his new status, Magu will face so many things, and the most common one is the loneliness that comes from losing power. For some time now, he is used to being boss and feared by friends and foes, but the office that gave him such leverage is gone, and he will realize how uneasy that seems in a few days.
