I used to play this game anytime my family and me traveled to Nigeria when I was young; always played with my cousins. It is sort of confusing in the beginning but when you get the hang of it, it is fun.

Beautiful Thread Ileki

I did a thread last around the Christmas season about Nigerian Christmas carols in Yoruba, and I consider that gospel music to a extent so here's the link: https://www.nairaland.com/819189/nigerian-christmas-carols-yoruba

Culture › Re: Why Is Lagos Called " CITY OF EXCELLENCE?" by anonymous6(f):
Well Lagos is one of the top cities in Africa, one of the places to go to in Nigeria, and it is a beautiful city but I never heard it being called the "city of excellence" even though I wouldn't disagree with that title in a way.
Culture › Re: Advice On How Much I Need For A Wedding Of 120 Guests Please by anonymous6(f): 4:29am On Aug 19, 2012
It depends on many things:
Venue?
Are you getting a wedding planner, doing all the planning yourself, and family will contribute here and there
The catering(are you ordering Nigerian or American food?)
Music(dj, Band, and etc)
Are You having the entire celebration in Nigeria or another place

So it depends of many factors, but it is always best to have a budget, a range on what you want to spend, and etc
Culture › Re: Rich Black Africans Vs. Rich Black Americans by anonymous6(op):
igbo2011: Inb America caucasians control most large industries. They run music and sports. All the rich blacks are workers and can be cut in a second. The wealth is in the hands of jewish and causian people. We need to learn how to CONTROL companies and be heads of businesses. This is why oi don't like Africans getting signed by American labels because that means they will be controlled by Americans. Atleast in Nigeria we control industries such as music sports and movies.

So when d banj got signed by GOOD music he is under Kanye and Kanye is under a caucasian owned label. We don't distribute or market anything.

If black americans controlled sports and music then their community will be a lot mpre rich. But caucasians won't let African Americans run anything because they love control and wealth.
That's where it boils down to in America, Caucasians and Jews control almost everything so it is hard to crack into certain industries in America.

You know what, ever since D'banj signed up with Good music, I really haven't seen any progression besides his oliver twist song, so you have a point when it comes to D'banj, I just hope they don't cut him off after a few years and then he has to start over.

Culture › Re: Lets Talk About FGM; Female Core Mutilation by anonymous6(f):
JallowBah: I knows that FGM takes place in many, many african countries.
The reason I put this under culture, not religion, is because it does not belong to a religion. It is, yes, mainly muslims who perform this now, but this has to do with culture, not religion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:FGC_Types.svg - Pictures, drawings, of the different kinds.

What is peoples takes on this in Narialand? Is this going on in YOUR country? Has it been done to you? Would you do it on your child?
WHat if you husband/wifes family wish to do it on your daughter? And what if they DID, without your agreement?

As some know, my husband is from Gambia. FGM is still going on down there, but more awereness and teachings about how it can affect women, has made more and more turn away from it. It is not written in the quran, or the bible, to perform FGM.
If someone did this to my child..I would try to kill everyone involved. I would report them all to the police, both in Gambia, and in Norway. I would contact the embassy, I would do everything to destroy both the people who did it, and also the goverment for letting this continue.
I have already told the women in my husband family that if they perform this on any girls in our family, I will cut them off. They will never recieve any financial help from me or my husband again, and they will never see us again either. I just pray and hope that they turn away from it as well..if anyone lay a hand on my daughter..Off.

It is barbaric, and it need to stop.
I don't agree with this backwards stone age act, and never will participate in it
In Nigeria it doesn't happen to much(since the majority of Nigerians are not doing it), you'll mostly see these cases in remote rural places, not in cities in Nigeria.

Most don't even know why they still do it, and when they have a explanation it is one of the most ridiculous explanation for it

Crime › Re: They Kill Children In China by anonymous6(f):
zangiff: Now, the law in china prohibit couples to have more than One child...if mistakenly the woman had a pregnancy after one ,it will be aborted with or without the consent of the couples...what do you think? Is dis the right thing irrespctive of their population
I don't agree with it but it is the Chinese governments decision, I feel if Chinese people/citizens who disagree with the rule want more kids they should move out of the country and go to countries that don't have a law like that. I have a friend who is Chinese and she has two younger siblings, her parents purposely moved out of China to America after having her because of that law, if her parents had stayed in China she would have not had two younger siblings. From what she told me also is that she is not a isolated case, many Chinese people are doing that.

The problem with China's law is it is haunting them now because their are not many females I heard now over their, their are more men then women, so it is hard to find females now as partners, because when the law was implemented many families would prefer to have a boy then girl and when they found out they were having a girl they will terminate it or kill the baby after it is born(the big reason why the adoption of abandoned Chinese females babies by white american couples are high).

The question I have is what lead to that country having this population problem in the first place?, to me I feel it is the fact that they had many kids before the law was implemented that resulted in it's population problem but India has a similar problem and they didn't make that law in their country, and they are surviving, at the same time many Indians are moving out of India and settling in other countries, so it makes you wonder.

TV/Movies › Re: Nollywood Movie "modupe Temi" Vs. Ghollywood Movie "why Marry" by anonymous6(op): 10:59pm On Aug 16, 2012
speedyboi: I'm telling you!!!! The movie is an exact duplicate. I got to watch it earlier this year.

But I personally think modupe temi is done in a more classy manner. At some point, why marry was pissing me off. Maybe being a copied work addéd to my anger.

But gosh, they didn't even bother to change somethings....
-the soliloquy, prayers of wife being richer than husband, the paper communication etc.....was dubbed into why marry, just a different language, that's the only difference. But the ending was somewhat different sha.
Thank you so much, I agree, you took the words out of my mouth.

Modupe Temi is my preference
