Mehn... I have been so busy that I barely have a life these days. Alx virtual assistant program just git tougher! And trying to combine both is giving me headache. Recently, I moved my alx experience to my LinkedIn, you can check it out, I hope to connect with you all. Below is the link to my LinkedIn profile... https: //www.linkedin.com/in/tracy-okorie-8ba64b214 You have to close in the spaces to access the link, my schedule has been too tight because of many engagement I have to follow up on. The August cohort group has been functioning so well and the group is almost filled up. They're about 500+ there now. We had a google meeting yesterday to discuss the concept of emacs, vim, shell, and the sandbox. It was a pretty interesting one. We all agreed to follow one another on LinkedIn, Twitter and engage in each other's post. Since I started posting on LinkedIn, it's been awesome! I can't believe I ignored that app all this while. Meanwhile, C language has been dealing with me lol but I don't intend to give up! Lately I feel like I have friends around me and it is pretty reassuring. |
Canopy2018:Please join group, all the materials you need have been dropped there. And if you need the materials, stroll up |
Lordsagna:I posted the link above nah |
TheTraveler:I'm more surprised that you actually replied him, not surprised at all. I rather not say any offensive word so I ignore him. |
Techstar:They won't link you to a job, they will help you with opportunities in getting one. Their situation is similar to alx but the difference is that they probably have more graduates than ALX. |
Techstar:With the opportunities being provided by ALX, I'm surprised your complain would be job. I understood from your point of view but do you think if you attain all the skills provided by ALX and eventually joins the ROOM, that jobs would be an issue? Did you attend the recent graduation? Only 320 people graduated out of thousands, if they are eventually added to the ROOM, they will have to maximize their skills to get jobs. David an ALX graduate of last year who git into Amazon merely made use of his skills and experience to stand out. At the end of the day, the decision is yours to make, if you can't cope in ALX, switch to microverse. |
MaskedBandit:Well yeah |
MaskedBandit:Alright I will do that soon. |
This week is going to be a busy one! I already have a deadline is of VA today and I intend to study this too. I have been practicing my communication skills and learning patience (This was part of the soft skills taught for virtual assistant) and it has been very helpful! Anyways, happy Sunday guys. I recently started posting about my experience on LinkedIn, we could connect on LinkedIn if you're down for it.

pwresh123:Even if required to pay I will pay! That is, after getting a job. If not, I will still donate. It is just too good to take in without giving anything back to the community. |
Docdavid:Make use of this link https:// chat.whatsapp. com/FPdHmsP4WvcJmN7Rklf9WH Close in the spaces before using it |
Techstar:I never really thought about it! I guess I will do that, thanks for the recommendation. |
Been ages since I was here! Since this week I didn't open week 3 project until today, well I have a lot to do and read on but I'm happy because ALX slack community reached out to me to show they will be there for anyone struggling. I don't have much to say except that I have been learning a lot from this program. Before now, I was a crazy introvert (still one except I communicate more with people) and this has been thanks to alx! I look forward to learning more!
|
Huzzle001:Up until now, there was no WhatsApp group for VA but I was recently added to one. Will send to your mail |
Some people would call it an exaggeration but for me, alx is one of the best program I have encountered. Through this program I have connected with so many great people I would have never thought of connecting with. Lately, I have been so hooked with work and combining the programs that I didn't have much time for my colleagues (let's be real, people would follow you if you have the skills) I need to study harder not to disappoint myself because I feel everyone is growing so fast while I'm still behind. Now, I bring you news!!! Alx news!!! Dramatic song plays in the background... Well... It's not really a big deal or news as per say!

Beenkay:Hi Beenkay I'm glad to see you're motivated and has been accepted to the program. You can join the group created for August cohort and connect with your peers. I look forward to hearing about your experience. |
seanmozilla:You need to familiar yourself with emacs, vim, shell commands before going for C language. |
For next week's project (Friday to be precise), we will be working in pairs! We're expected to chose pairs or alx will pair you with anyone. Mehn... I'm having headache thinking about it, mostly because I'm behind in C. Well... Let's just see how it goes.
|
Segzycool001:Yeah, that's a good idea |
Oops I almost forgot to post this.

I was watching the June cohort graduates of last year and I gotta say, It gave me this nostalgic feeling to work harder, I heard the graduates were 320+ out of thousands that registered! Meanwhile, I'm excited that tomorrow is PLD and we won't be having any projects for the weekend. No matter how difficult the projects might be, lean on your colleagues for help, it doesn't mean you're dumb, practicing collaboration and team work will help you go far in ALX. |
seanmozilla:Yeah you can but you still use a different email or try the mail you used before. |
Ocheinstein:You don't have to be online for 14hrs, as long as you do your projects on time! At the beginning, it would be easy but from the second week, you would understand why you need that much time. Meanwhile I already explained it before, I study at my spare time at work and when I get home at night, I do the rest, if any. |
From now on, I will be updating this thread like writing a diary (more details about my programming journey). Lately I have a lot going on, the VA Program (virtual assistant program), my job(my boss has been acting like a monitoring spirit lately), C Programming language and it's project. I was feeling too overwhelmed from reading many sources for a particular topic, Luckily, I stumbled upon Neso Academy while reading on "Pointers", the video was so detailed that I really enjoyed it! Silly me decided to start all over again in studying C using Neso Academy, it was fun! But it slowed my progress, I didn't have time to read for the present materials enough and had to turn to my peers for help. But I didn't like that and so, I wrote down the topics out on my notebook, watching the particular contents I found a bit complex and practicing using Sololearn on my phone. I'm almost done and it is exciting, but because of my dedication for C, I haven't done this week's milestone on VA and there's a lot to do. Last night I kept thinking of a method to keep me awake into the night, I thought of coffee but I wouldn't want it to affect my health because I intend to take it every night! Having gotten advice from friends and colleagues, I decided to sleep early and wake up between 11-12am. |
Ocheinstein:That strongly depends on you. I don't know your schedule but if you are willing to do it then I don't it is impossible. |
socoy:You won't be paying for anything. |
Ocheinstein:My job is 8am - 8pm I try to shuffle my free time in studying. |
Feels like it's been ages since I came here. How has everyone been? Lately, I feel like my work got more stressful, the projects from alx are not nice either. It is even more tiring because I'm combining ALX SE and VA. I have been trying to catch up on C as soon as I can, today was PLD (peer learning days) which was an opportunity to rest my head but I couldn't. I studied like my life depended on it. This week's milestone project for virtual assistant is quite much and I haven't done much. Today, we took a survey that was supposed to prepare us for the ROOM. No matter how stressed and tired I am, it makes me more motivated. By the way, I seriously recommend anyone going for this program to get computer glasses. To avoid stressing your eyes too much since you will be staring at the screen a lot of times, I plan to get one soon because my eyes have been hurting a lot lately, it gets sensitive with light and if it gets too dark. Please protect your eyes and health. Lately, I have been looking for tea or drugs to keep me awake at night because after getting home from work, I'm usually too tired to study but I changed my mind and taking drugs or any tea. Health is wealth.

Looks like something interesting would be happening soon, I look forward to the graduation.

UyaiIncomparabl:Ikr This weekend is just for C programming language and myself. |
Good Morning everyone I haven't done yesterday's project yet lol Will do it when I get to work. Meanwhile I went to my calendar to check how long we will be doing C Programming language, and I found out, we will be doing C for three months. We started C Programming language late June and will end it early September. So python classes will start middle of September. Early August will be the start of C data structures and algorithms. I will drop pictures of the calendar, for short-sighted people, you may have to download and zoom in.
