Ask Judas (who even had close contact with Jesus) and others who were once saved and later backslid and went to hell. Peter had to Repent after denying Jesus too, or he wouldn't need to. Jesus told christians in churches in Revelation to REPENT. If they were forever saved before, they wouldn't need to. But they were warned strongly.

There's physical death (body), and Spiritual death (to be cast into Hell, which I believe Paul was talking about in Romans 8:13--you don't need to agree, but I have no doubt).
