They should do as the spirit leads. Jesus did cast out the traders from the temple. Sure if he (Jesus) never did that and a pastor of any denomination does that in this our current time, such pastor would be regarded worse than an infidel. With a first-timer,it is understandable but...sending them home should be at the bottom of the action list if you ask me anyway. |
With all his activities,I'm yet to know him rating on the list. How much has he gathered with the whole *#@+?! -- how much has he milked? |
JMAN05: My brother, many have brought a dent on the congregation founded by Christ at pentacost. so sad that this people bear the name christian, but they have disregarded the truth found in the bible and clone it with mystery. GOD OF THE BIBLE IS GREATER THAN JESUS, who is His son. God is his Father. Many have chosen to believe the lie. this situation is pathetic and we continue to appeal to their reason to see whether the honest hearted will turn around. It is our prayer that God will help many.@ the capitalized above Without doubt, "God" is greater than Jesus for Jesus confirms this himself (John 14:28). What is the bone of contention that you see people struggling with? Please, share it/them. Cheers. |
It will be discussed at the national conference. |
Bidam: Take time and study it..Sir.I thank God the spirit enabled them. That's good. You've convinced me. |
Bidam: I also guess you can ask your bible.SMH!LOL but on a serious note Bidam, tell us why (I mean answer all your questions). In all humility,I want to know. I'll take my time to read your response. Thanks. |
hisblud: ok i understand, you claim to believe in tongues yet no works to that effect, how do you believe without works? You got the "believe" part right and the "works" part right. The only limitation you have is that you didn't consider the KNOWLEDGE part(which actually forms the belief). So,now that I believe that not all will speak in tongue(because I know so from the scripture),why then would I need to speak in tongues(as works) to fulfill your "knowledge" and "works" theory? Would I not be contradicting my belief? I am sure you know my position on the issue. Otherwise, you have not been reading my post thoroughly. So,you should take your time to. |
hisblud: ok is this the site you are refering to? http://solascriptura.com/reading_topics.phpBy sola scriptura I mean solely scripture (bible) as my source NOT any website (related to the name or other wise) |
Bidam: A little bible study for you:Hum,if I can't answer all,I should attempt one at least. "Can you tell us why Simon the sorcerer who though believed and was baptized yet he wanted to bribe Peter to receive the Holy Spirit?" I guess it's because he wanted to speak in tongue. I hope I'm correct. |
hisblud: sure he does, but in one of your post you agreed with him on seeing tongues in the same light, hence my post. Btw, could you share that site that made you recant your belief in tongues for the modern times. ThanksMy source site? Sola scriptura. I believe in tongues and have always believed from the very beginning. What I don't believe in is that "speaking in tongues is the EVIDENCE of receiving the holy spirit". If you recall,I opened a thread bringing to mind the consequence the tongue-holyspirit relationship. When you read it up,you can comment. www.nairaland.com/705595/dont-speak-tonguesyoure-way-hell |
hisblud: does this verse sound as ego or essentialYou should ask him. That's his view and he has right to one. |
Bidam: Can you define what an ego trip is? Can you show us from scripture where tongue is an ego trip? If indeed it is, then Apostle Paul would be the greatest ego tripping Apostle in scripture because he spoke in tongues more than All the corinthian folks put together( 1 cor 14:18).Adding to God's word would mean "adding to God's word". It is clear that it was is own view of what was happening in the corinth church between the tongue speaking christians and the non-tongue speak christians then. I'm sure you understand except you need a point to nail him. |
Bidam: It is not an ego trip, you are adding to God's word sir!Adding to God's word? Maybe I didn't get you correctly but I didn't notice him adding anything to God's word. |
^@Bidam True...the new birth experience, the filling of the spirit. All so true. The question people ask is usually about "all" speaking in tongues. I hope you understand. Cheers. |
Bidam: I have answered your question. My question to you based on the scripture you quoted is: how much of you does the Holy Spirit have?Yes you did but I didn't know which of the answers was the main answer to the question. I guess I was expecting a straight single answer. When I get a straight answer to the question,we'll continue thanks. |
Bidam: Holy Spirit at new birth. Baptism is a different ball game altogether. So,which of the above is the answer to my question (if these 3 options mean 3 different things)? 1)Holyspirit. 2)Holy Spirit at new birth. 3)Baptism The question once again is "... Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his." (Romans 8:9b). From the above scripture, what is "the spirit of christ"? |
Elantracey: paul said in 1st cor 14v18 ah tank my God dat ah speak in tongues more than ye all so ah ask u if u tink it isn't important den y did he have to say dat ..read d verse u quoted again n u see dat jesus was tellin us how to know a believer wen u see one..Really? I though this (quoted below) is what Jesus said. "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." (John 13:35). |
@Bidam As much as I love to quote and make comments on some of your response,I really do not have time and I can't type so much on my phone. I read through your response and by that, word for word. Let me skip towards the end of my submission. I hope we can do a little conversation by question and answer method. In this case,I am the one with questions. #Question# "... Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his." (Romans 8:9b). From the above scripture, what is "the spirit of christ"? |
@bidam This excerpt should help a little. Take note of the capitalized (by me) phrases. "For to one is given BY THE SPIRIT the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge BY THE SAME SPIRIT; To another faith BY THE SAME SPIRIT; to another the gifts of healing BY THE SAME SPIRIT;" "To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally AS HE WILL." (1 Corinthians 12: 8-11). Take note that it said the spirit decides who gets what. Yes,you can covet (desire and ask) any gift but that means you never had it. |
@sweetdreams Is it not recorded in the scriptures that not everybody is given any particular (manifestation) gift? "Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?" (1 Corinthians 12:30). @bidam This "initial evidence" that people talk about,I'm sure it is being picked from the happenings recorded in the book of act. However,it just still stir the question "did Paul speak in tongue when he received the holy spirit and when did he receive him?" "Did Timothy speak in tongues also or did he not receive the holy spirit?" I remember the Master's word. He said "signs" as to mean more than one. All which are pointer to the manifestation of the spirit. Why do we hammer on the "tongue" gift? Little wonder anyways it is a debatable issue and a front burner issue today. It is a gift that would stir up debate, and it did in those days too that's why the apostle has to address it. Read the whole chapters (1 cor 12,13,14) with open mind. "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." (Mark 16:17-18). |
Ah,this one na big issue o. Maybe Pastors should be well paid but not like the highest paid. You don consider the soldiers for yobe and maidiguri? I think they should be the highest paid. |
Where are the people concern? Abi them never read this post ni? |
@Jo and candor Worse,it would contradict some of his teachings. If the point he (the preacher) made is based on a strong conviction of his belief that money is that important so much that christ only visited those people, then,I am really sorry for him (the preacher) |
I listened to a preacher talked about “money as a missionary“ and by that he meant that money is useful for mission and (the) ministry. So many reasonable, acceptable and objective obvious points he raised aside (for the sake of driving home a point) that he noted that all the people Jesus visited (their homes) to dine with are all wealthy people. Can anybody justify and tell me the significance of the point he noted about Jesus' visit to those people? Was Jesus really trying to pass a message? Please note that I know about Jesus' teaching about money. |

I have always seen that extremism is problem. Extremism in (some fanatic) christianity seem to breed greed while (in some fanatic) islam, it breeds terrorism. My opinion. |
youngPRO: Can you spend a nightYes! I can but which of my ex in the first place? |
Amaaskia: And what is wrong with it?Nothing is wrong with feminism except that it will become another version of the "evil" the feminist are trying to conquer. Then you will understand what it means for the "oppressed" to be in power. It won't be about correction anymore,it will be VENGEANCE. #my opinion# |
gagzee: You no even reach spider, make ur jaw drop!!Gagzee,na so e be o. Many Nigerian universities are full of d*vilish lecturers who don't care about education. As far as they are concern,it's just another government office where they hope to flex their muscle and make some money. |
