I’ve been watching a lot of Dr. Gabor Mate lectures on YouTube.
He once said and I quote “the best and most effective way to discipline your child is make them your disciples”
That’s stuck with me.
What does that mean? How do you do that?

Agreed but there's a dark side to it. Some kids don't change until you discipline them in the traditional way.

What should we say about those kids running rampage in the UK stabbing each other? , mostly brought up in a westernised way and still ended up violent.
Yeah

I was hoping you will say that. A lot of Nigerian adults say that also.

But look around you, look at the country, why do men beat their wives and people think it’s alright, violence is seen as the norm. A lot of parents damaged their kids all in the name of discipline. Most of the adults in Nigeria today have been damaged by their parents and the saddest thing is that they do not know it. They carry on that same mentality to bring up their kids and the circle continues undecided undecided undecided
Yeah I support you, was just messing around. It normalises violence in the kids eyes, rather than just communicating. That’s why lots of Nigerians struggle to communicate, own up to wrong doings and apologise.

But I’ll beat mine once a year. I have to put the fear of God in it grin

Beating a child doesn’t solve the solution all it’s doing is just encouraging violence.
My parents solved my problem with “beating” cheesy

Disclaimer: I am not a guru.
My ‘church mind’ advice:
I would advise the person to visit UK job sites (such as indeed, Reed, CV library, TotalJobs, etc). Search carefully for the skill sets required of an MSc Operation Management holder.

My inner thoughts: MSc in operations management (on its own) will not place you above other applicants in the job market.
Yeah, the work experience is all that would matter most. They can intern the COO of a small company or do those graduate schemes. It will be a good stepping stone.

No, the ptsd stays and makes first time Nigerian travellers to the UK distrust the UK govt.

Deliberately didnt write that in English because it's a public forum
I don’t think she knew what she was getting into. Most people don’t know how dubious agents are. I also learned that when I joined nairaland. In my head I was paying someone to take the application stress from me, but JW kept announcing never to use them on student thread, so I stopped immediately otherwise this would have been my story- one spirit husband and one real husband.

What's the point of divorcing someone who doesn't exist. I think she should come clean and also hire a lawyer. Surprised there's no ban on that letter and if none, there's a chance.

Madam sorry to see this happening to you but the truth is you were dishonest....
Look at the reasons for refusal?on several occasions you’ve declared that you’ve not been married before ...At the same time you married with two spouse simultaneously ?
..
My advice would be you go back to the drawing board and
(1) divorce one of your husbands and
(2) provide proof of this divorce
(3) Also in the future be honest and declare all your marriages....
(4) Take responsibility for your actions and stop blaming any agent ( you are an adult if you see someone using your details to commit fraud confront them .......
(5) let your current husband take lead and provide all the required proof that your marriage this time is genuine... Goodluck
Divorcing either of the husbands is not the problem, the fake docs is. She should just wait, the 10 year ban would soon be lifted (that’s if they don’t class this new application as fraudulent then that’s extra 10 years).

I married my spouse 2014,he based in uk,but because of d anxiety that I want to go nd meet my husband we made a wrong decision,I applied for visitor visa 2015 through an agent who told us he will provide all necessary documents because then my husband was not having a good job nd he just moved frm London to Manchester, not knowing dis guy used fake documents nd all,he even changed my spouse to another name nd provide another marriage certificate nd I was refused due to fake bank statements nd fake references, though I dnt knw why I was refused because he ran away with refusal letter,Nov last year I applied for spouse visa when my husband is financially ok nd we have all d evidence, and I was refused because I provided my marriage certificate of 2014 with my husband when I told them am still living with my previous husband in my previous application with marriage certificate,so they are convinced that my marriage with my real husband is not genuine,am confused on what to do because we want to appeal
N.B———I can’t find d agent and I dnt knw what date he filled for my previous marriage certificate even if I want to apply for divorce paper

Bros there are some things wey more research go need to come out for us. Some of this things I feel say na assumptions cos if e de enter thru eye ball like that, then forget am everybody for this UK get as our HR guy talk. Till today I am still wondering how come everyone who flew around the world are not infected, bros for flight and for airport people just de touch same knob and rails and all that. That flight own still scare me till we completed 14days before my mind come down. When I watch people suffering at the hospital men I go just de feel sad, if no be fear of going to the hospital I for go donate blood make them see use work for people cos we gat do the little we can. I for carry my family go donate. Na just fear of going to hospital.
You are given sanitisers and wipes inflight, the airline wipes down everywhere. If you touch a door knob, you wipe as well. In addition, you have your mask on all through.

It’s not airborne so flying is safe provided your unclean hand doesn’t go to your mouth, your mask is on and you keep distance between people.

Please I am going to University of Chester, where do I set as flight destination? I noticed that international flight do not get to Chester so where is the nearest international airport? Liverpool?
Manchester. If you have any other enquiries it would be best to contact the Nigerian association there or the international office; they will be more than happy to help.

Carry more food than clothes. Don’t waste your money on shoes. Don’t carry red oil. Have a great flight.

Debenham's are holding a closing down sale - its online now as stores are closed - check and see if there's anything you can still get there.
Some others are giving reduced prices for instance - M&S still had its 30% off sale on as at last week.
Do Primark for a 2 year old - they grow so fast and you don't really need to invest good money into children's clothes which they'll grow out of before you know it. Fast fashion all the way for children. And your money goes farther there too - there's a reason why their stores are usually so full.
As in, I was thinking this exactly. Why invest in clothes that they would grow out of, not even go anywhere in, and not even show since they will wear a jacket all through.

Me that I will buy 1 expanding shirt and trouser for my own, so I don’t shop again till it’s age 7 grin

I think IDV app was specifically used by applicant who submitted their applications during the first lockdown months. This was done as there were a lot of pending applications.
I submitted my application last month and did my biometric this week.
Like I advise the original OP. New appointment dates are release at 12 midnight every day.
See me thinking it’s cos they wanted to see my face sad

Same concern I had last year. You can book dates/appointments when the site informs you via email. For me, they sent a mail/link directing me to use the new app UKVCAS IDV 21 days after I filled the application online. The app which you download on your mobile phone was where I uploaded all my documents and picture. They explained that applicants whose previous biometric are less than 5 years old are qualified to use the app instead of booking appointments and going to the centres. 3months and 1 week later I got my FLR residence permit card.
Hope this helps
Lol I was upset when they told me to go and do my biometrics at the office, because working the last 5 years, I had given them my biometrics twice.

I think they just wanted to see my face!

bro I bet to go against what you mean there isn’t Job out here in Middlesbrough, stop giving people bad impression of that city. I moved to Uk last year January on a tier 4 visa and I have not struggled to look for jobs. We all know the commonest jobs in Uk reside in the health industries or retail industries and you could find those jobs out there. I can bet you I have made times two of the money I invested in coming to Uk within 8 months. I haven’t seen any body out here who is jobless unless he or she doesn’t want to work. As a student your direction of jobs should focus on the health sector or retail and you will surely find something to do.

Settling in a small town has it own advantages. House is very cheap, I basically pay £500 for a tastefully furnished 3 bedroom apartment here, car insurance is low, less noise or struggle, less population to compete for few jobs available unlike London if exist 5 openings for a position in a job like 200 person will be fighting for the position of 5 person. Think wisely!
£500 for 3 bed?

*faints*

URGENT: hello house please I have a question.

on my visa it says entry date 11th January

My school starts on the 11th of January, however I have booked my flight for 10th January. Will I be allowed into London (its a morning flight so I will be arriving that same 10th January)
If they don’t allow you, you just have to sleep in the airport for 24 hours as you have already booked flight.

Nothing shele.

Hello House,
I got my study visa in November, My TB test is expiring this month, January 22nd 2021. With this lockdown, I plan to enter between January 29 and February 10. Will my 22 January expiry date be a problem for me at the border on entry?
I am going with family and their TB test is still valid till May 2021, I am the only one whose own is expiring this month.
Do they always check this TB test cert at the borders?
Sometimes, depending on the airport. Heathrow, yes and always. Manchester, sometimes if they are in the mood. But student thread is better for this question.

To clarify, what I am asking is that should the entire 6months statement be within the 28days or just the last month before submission.
If you’ll submit your application on 14 January, I’ll advice the statement end between 1st and 13th Jan

Hello All. Please help on this.

We are applying for spouse visa with one dependent child. But while completing the FM child application form for our daughter online under the Finance section, it requested for my (applicant's) employment details instead of my husband's who is the sponsor.
I need a guide please as I do not know if I made a mistake somewhere along the line.

Note, the employment I have is outside the UK, which I do not think suffices for the purpose required and even at that, my annual salary is below the financial requirement threshold.
Thank you.
You’re better off asking your question here:

https://www.nairaland.com/823869/uk-spouse-visa-appeal-process-part2/473#97215765

Or here:

https://www.nairaland.com/3253552/applying-flr-after-initial-uk#47952736

They know your employment is outside the uk, because they expect that you’re outside the UK.

I believe you will be asked to submit your employment details as well as your partner’s. If you have none, just indicate that you don’t and it would probably take you to the part where you fill the employment details for your partner. It could also mean that you selected a wrong answer previously, I can’t say as it’s been a while, however, When I did mine, I supplied mine and my partner’s.

As far as your partner earns more than 19800 in permanent employment + the additional needed for the child, whether or not you’re working will be irrelevant to the case worker.

I am thinking more about the 28 -days rule ....
The bank statements must be within the last 28 days of the submission of your application. If you don’t have a paper form of a statement within 28 days, check your mobile and export a statement or call your bank and request for.

Happy New Year guys..
A quick one pls, I've paid to renew my spousal visa last week and was redirected to another site to book an appointment but there were no dates at all (due to the current conditions). But the thing is, I haven't received any form of communication from HO in regards to uploading of my docs.
When do you think I should expect to hear from them?
The site that allows you book the appointment should have an upload facility. I’m sure you’re using the sopra steria system, that’s where I uploaded.

Happy new year to everyone, we pray for a blissful year.

Please can someone point me in the right direction on bank statements.

I have official bank statements sent to me monthly (e-copies) which I download and save, so they have the dates they were sent to me which would be e.g July 2020, August 2020, etc..

My question is can I use these statements which show print dates e.g 11 July 2020 for July, 12 August 2020 for August, and so on up to December 2020 (the one for December will be within 28 days rule), or do I need to have the bank issue new 6-months statements which I believe will all show a single date (e.g January 2020 since the bank will send to me this month).

I hope I am making sense...lol
Is it a bank statement for the months you need? Yes.

So It won’t matter even if the print date is 1 October 1960.
