sgtponzihater1: My wife doesn't love me. I am scared for my life and want out. She's pregnant, and I can't cope. I need help. I want out! Hi, been reading your comments/ cry for help. You sound really desperate, and that’s so sad, nobody should feel like this, especially when it’s brought on by somebody you trust like a spouse. But she’s pregnant. It’s probably the hormones that’s causing this. Why don’t you wait for her to give birth then see if her head will reset. She clearly wasn’t like this before pregnancy otherwise she wouldn’t be here with you. Also consider that you’re hurting the child as well, any stress on her might hurt the baby. In the same instance, will not have its father in its life. A lot to consider man, don’t just rush into things. If what you want is peace of mind, pay for another apartment and leave her to pay for the one you’re currently in. And see if your marriage heals from them. Otherwise remind her that she’s dependent on you, and you can easily send her home (but before you do this, please go to Citizens Bureau and have a chat with one of the workers there for advice- that way, if your wife comes out with allegations, you’ll be a bit covered) Remember that the law here favours women a lot, so thread cautiously. |

justwise: If you want good property on a cheap then go for Share Ownership or Help To Buy, Share ownership deposit is just 5% and 10% for Help To Buy.
With Help To Buy the govt will gives you 20% loan to be paid back after 5yrs though you need to have Help To Buy ISA account,( Help To Buy ISA will be closing by the end of this month) Thanks for sharing. I’ve got the lifetime ISA. I think I prefer that because I can get up to 450k in mortgage (not that I am going to though). I’m aiming to save 4K by March to allow me to get that 25% from the gov. Then in two years, we would have like 20k + some more scrounging for a deposit. |

birdmansoho: My visa experience was very smooth, it took just 3days for British embassy Abuja to grant my visa. I came with a family permit under the spousal visa category. Applied Monday and received a message to come collect passport Wednesday. I guess I was lucky or just had the right paperwork.
Family permit valid for 6months and I applied for extension and it took about 5months and got 5years residency. My permanent residence application 5years later took just 6weeks and naturalisation application was about a month.
I live in southeast London, Greenwich to be precise. Can’t say it’s the best borough but I love the “Nigerianess” of it. Life initially was tough but with persistence and determination I was able to pull through. I’m a pharmacist working with the NHS and future looking great. We’ve many Nigerian eatery in the Greenwich borough but I prefer Tasty Woolwich.
My advise for anyone coming to the UK is to remain focused and keep pushing. If you’re coming as a student ensure you complete your course and do all you can to establish a relationship with a Caucasian so you can cement your stay here. Except for those who intend to return to Nigeria after education or whatever visa they came with, getting married or impregnating a native should be your top priority.
Avoid driving if you’re on a low income as it’s more expensive to own a car than using public transport for people in London but outside London owning a car is compulsory coz public transport isn’t as active.
But for time I’ve a lot to say as per the other questions by the OP, may probably stop by again later. Opens mouth Closes mouth Swallows spit Minds my business it’s a free space, any Tom, idiot, sorry I mean Dick, and Harry can post anything they want. |

assumpta1: So as the JJC that I am, I just want to be sure of somethings. So pardon my many questions. How much do you think is reasonable to spend monthly on heating a 1 bedroom apartment? It has 3 radiators. The agent in charge of the apartment want me to set up a standing order of £20 a month for heating and hot water. Is this a good deal? EPC rating is B. Also what are the red flags to look out for in a tenancy contract. I’ve just finished reading over 20 pages of the contract I will read it again before signing just to be sure. Wow! £20 per month! Oh boy you done hammer! Me that we buy gas 4 times a month! But that £20 may be high for a B rated house, mine is a Deep freezer. |

Teepp10: Hi everyone. Please what's the process of filing for a divorce from UK? I'm married to a man who is not happy seeing me succeed, looking for ways to just bring me down. He's not been fending for me or the kids. I've been in UK for some years with the kids, working my ass out, taking care of them all alone while the father is in Nigeria. He has a dependant Visa but all he wants is to frustrate me. How do I go about it from here without visiting Nigeria please? Thank you Oh God, this is heartbreaking. I am so sorry. But you don’t need to divorce him. You can just love on with your life after all, he is dependant on you. If you don’t renew it, he can’t visit the UK. If your decision is to divorce him, I believe you have to do that where you married him (Nigeria I presume) |

Business owners and contract staff, please I have a Question for you.
Can I create a foundation in Nigeria and pay money to it monthly then claim it as an expense to my LLC in the UK?
I’m looking for ways to increase my business expenses so I can legally pay less tax. At least I will be helping people back home in return. |

gratefulme40: I think your BRP will state leave to enter if you are coming in to the UK for the first time. However, if you renew within the UK, it will have Leave to remain on it. At least, that’s what I noticed with mine. Thanks I now fully understand. |

LagosismyHome: Leave to remain is very different from indefinite leave to remain. LR is not settlement , has conditions and has a time frame but ILR is settlement(aka permanently residency)
Also dont know exactly what she applied for but spouse " leave to remain" is 5years before it can be changed to ILR , and after ILR then passport Ok.. now I understand. It’s the same with mine that is also 5 years but my BRP has spousal Leave To Enter.. not Leave to Remain. Thanks so much for explaining. She will wait 5 years till she gets her ILR then. |

Experienced people, pls I have a question about Leave to Remain.
My friends BRP has leave to remain on it. She has been in the country since 2016, then in 2018, she and her fiancé did spousal visa (common law I think). The BRP they gave her says “Leave to Remain” only. Does this mean that she can apply for her British passport before it expires?
Also, Which LR is that? Further or Indefinite? (P.S: she’s Canadian)
Thanks for your answers. |

mumnadine: hello everyone pls kindly help a sister btw masters in social works and Public Health with one is more in demand in uk Both cool courses. Like someone said, social work is better but won’t make you Rich. Another thing with social work is that brits do it a lot without even having degree, so it will be hard for them to pick you over them. As for pub health, it’s a great course but hard to break into. To be honest, the only people that should do pub health are people that are already working in such places, then you get a promotion. It’s not graduates that have never worked Cos not many NGOs want to employ a pub health graduate with no experience. Since you’re in this field why don’t you consider doing care and pay for a nursing degree? |

Bourne007: A bit odd! Some companies can be scared of those on 'leave to remain' 'cos they worry anything can happen while ILR is a guarantee.
I remember when a company calls me then and I say Tier 4 depandant, they never call or email back just 'cos of the Tier 4 restrictions. But when they call and I say Depandant visa, they proceed with my application lol thinking it's a Tier 1 or 2. Wow. Tbf, I can understand tier 1 or tier 2. But I don’t need their sponsorship. So why are they worried if I’m on ILR or spousal? Can I also call mine a dependent visa? I really liked that job offer- it’s as if they copied and pasted my CV. It’s paining anyhow that I was turned down due to frivolities. |

justwise: Help to buy ISA is not a bad idea, its a free money from the govt for first time buyers. You 25% from the govt to match up the amount you saved +up to 2.6% interest tax-free I’m currently doing the LISA with moneybox. So all my change goes into it + my weekly payments of £70. It’s just a way to save. Then there’s the benefit of get 25% of what you saved back. So if I save 4k, I get 5k towards my house. Even if I migrate at the end of the day, I’ll just lose the govts 25% and keep my savings. Win win. |

Inkredible: You could have been easily rear ended by another driver when you brake suddenly. It’s not the end of the world though. Better luck next time.
Your instructor should know all the test routes. Mine did and I practiced on all the routes. During my test, it was just a cruise and banter with the examiner.
My few tips are:
Be calm. Whatever is the outcome at the end, has been destined. You can’t change it. However, do your very best.
Mindfulness: Complete one task at a time. Anticipate well ahead. I was thought to assume the first three drivers in front are drunk teens.
Checks and balances: Keep in mind this is your hard earned money. You’ve paid to prove your worth to some stranger who you probably drive better than on a normal day. Prove them wrong!
All the best and good luck |
