nomad26: Ok I get it now, pele don't worry you will conquer it next time. Maybe this might help: every test centre has, I think, about 10 possible routes that the examiner can choose to take you on so here's what I'd suggest - search online for driving test routes and find the ones for your centre, then arrange with your instructor to only do mock tests from now on, particularly on the driving routes. Try to drive on all the routes at least once, it will help you get familiar with the roads. When I was practising for mine, I used this website to download the test routes and it really helped. http://driving2pass.com/driving-test-routes/ Although I had a car, so was able to drive the routes multiple times. If you don't find your centre there, you can just go a general search on google.
Additionally, are you more comfortable driving in traffic or when the road is not busy? You might want to factor that in when booking your test time. For example, I get stressed when driving in traffic so I booked for 10am on a weekday when people will be at work/school. My friend, on the other hand, booked 8am, there was heavy traffic and they didn't even drive more than 2km before the test time was up and they had to head back to the centre. OMG you’re the best. Thank you so much! This is my problem, my non-familiarity with the roads so I miss road turns/signs. Thanks so much for this. God bless you plenty |

umarwy: I used cruise control to help with the maintaining speeds.
And use MSM
Mirror signal manoeuvre
Always mirror before signal or breaking.
Trying doing test routes with instructor to know the road and speed limit. General rule of thumb.
If there are speed bumps 20. If it's not dual carriageway 30 Dual carriageway 40+ except for certain exceptions Thanks. One of the times I failed, it was because I slammed my brakes at a red light. The red light was in a roundabout so I only saw it on approach, then just slammed on the brakes. Instructor said that I should have checked mirror! A split second decision and he was expecting me to check mirror? |

umarwy: Sorry for this, what was your majors? Were you aware of the errors during the test or you discovered about the errors once the test was over.
I passed on second attempt and on my first attempt I was aware of my errors as I drove so it helped me in preparing for the second attempt.
And try watching YouTube videos of driving test analysis and also driving fault analysis ( I recommend Ashley Neal and dgn driving school)
Plus I will recommend you get a new instructor some instructors aren't honest with there students. I know someone who was block booking monthly for more than a year and when she failed the instructor asked her to block book again.(when ideally you just need couple of lessons to rectify the mistakes.
And on your next test try to be calm especially towards the ending, as I learnt a lot of people fail the test in the ending part of the assessment.
Good luck Actually nothing is wrong with my driving. My instructor is always shocked when I fail. He advised that I don’t need lessons at all but that he is happy to train me if I think I need more. I no that one of my faults is that I spend so much time looking all around me (left mirror, rear mirror, right mirror, speed limit, accelerator, navigator... all at once) so I don’t even focus on my front. I’m just tired. |

nomad26: What were your major errors? And how often did you practice driving before your test?
If you've been in the UK less than a year, one option might be to just go ahead and start driving with your Nigerian Licence, that'd give you way more practice and help you get used to the routes, it's cheaper than spending more money with an instructor since you'd eventually get a car anyway. My dear this was my biggest mistake. If I had known earlier I wouldn’t have applied for my provisional license as soon as I came here. I would have just started driving on my Nigerian licence to familiarise myself with the roads and rules. But now it’s too late. My majors are just silly things: you failed because you stepped on your brakes without looking behind, you sped past a non-obvious roundabout, you didn’t see the car behind you when you were pulling out of the roundabout, you didn’t look back a second time before pulling into the road. So frustrating. |

spacyzuma: Sorry o. I think the best tip is to look for a postcode that has a higher success rate of passing the test. I saw an article on bbc some months ago about it. These areas are usually some distance away from city centres and have less traffic. Also pick a time that avoids rush hour (eg between 11am - 2pm)
I'm in scotland and passed on my 3rd attempt, despite doing it in an area close to traffic. Thanks my love. My problem is not even busy areas or not. Just little mistakes. Like yesterday, I missed a right turn (I didn’t know I was meant to pull into the service lane), so I got shocked when I noticed my mistake and just stepped in the brakes. No minor. Just that I stepped on my brakes without looking at my mirror. I tried to explain to the instructor that it was nerves that I panicked, but no use. I know it’s a mistake but haba. Small mercy now. |

perfectme: Hello guys, I need your opinion.
I'm about renting my first house since moving to the UK, I've been staying in an accommodation provided by my employer.
Got a two bedroom apartment for #660 but with EPC rating E and electric heating which I'm really concerned about. I spoke to a friend who pays #40 a month on energy bills for a house with electric heating in the same area, negotiated a fixed rate with his energy provider. Someone also told me issues they had with mould leaving in a house with epc rating of e and that they paid up to #200 for energy cos of electric heating.
I already spoke with the letting agent who told me they don't have any record stating that the house had any issues with mould and condensation.
Can you guys kindly advise me as I dont know much about the epc rating and its implications and also how to get cheap energy bills on eletric heating.
Thanks. And you believed then just like that? Since you’ve rented it already (I assume you’re bound by a minimum amount of time to live there) just make sure you remind them of what they said when you see the mould, ok? It’s hot for now, so it won’t be so bad, so use now and save for the gas/electric bills during the winter months. |

MamaEEE: What I wrote is simple and easy to understand, I am not supporting what ever form of lie, I am only saying the man throw a ? To the house, but some off u judged him wrongly... When it was obvious it was just a ?... At the end of the day he ticked NO... So what r we talking abt. Of course he ticked no! Did you see the response he got? No right thinking person would have received such scolding and ticked yes! My own job is done. Moving forward, have you seen the news that PayPal has blocked Nigeria from using its services. You see how good people suffer because they don’t speak out when they see bad things. God help all the honest people that are just trying to make a living in Nigeria but keep being smeared by the bad ones! |

Even the guy that lied with his status got possible advices for his situation but this was just taged a lie. All u can do is simply ansa and move on or u correct him kindly... Una dey forget say at some point in time u guys came here to find answers too The guy that lied about the status, did you see my response to him? Also, did it occur to you that we just finished solving one person’s lie only to see another person trying to lie for a frivolous reason? Anyway, I appreciate the compliment- being called a saint is something to be proud of these days! |

You claimed to return bck to Nigeria wen don with sch but never did... Now claiming saints, what do u call that, WHITE LIES I guess... When it was very obvious all the guy asked was a ? Lol, are we talking about the same UK that you have to leave the country by force after uni? Because I’m not understanding what you mean. Whether white or pink lie, the compulsion to lie is quite annoying especially when the truth is actually more favourable. If they want to lie over technicalities, that’s fine. But lying over small issues or big issues that will catch you out, it’s just tiring! |

claremont: Inasmuch as I'm a Labour Party member through and through, I'm starting to like the positivity of Boris Johnson. Let's get this Brexit thing done with once and for all, and focus on the major issues the country is grappling with. If Boris is brave enough, he should call for a general election and we would make sure Jeremy Corbyn wins it.
A major immigration policy declared today by Boris is the return of the points based Australian style system. You meet the points, you get the visa. No room for subjectiveness or visa denial because the immigration officer doesn't like the immigrant. I came to the country in 2009 as a student via the points based system, I would probably have failed to get in if there was an interview. Hehehe politicians are not “brave” people. Botis is not stupid enough to call for one. Baba will enjoy that seat till the last drop like aunty May. But what’s my business, I’m Nigerian- it’s not like naija is any better! |

missjekyll: I m not quite happy with the tone of this reply. I preferred the first two replies. Lying is not an exclusive preserve of Nigerians. Babies start to lie before they can talk. Poster only wanted to know whether there are any advantages to adding an extra passport number when applying.
I cant help though poster. I dont think it ll reduce the cost of the visa so just answer no and jump and pass. Tier 2 visa are usually walk overs anyway as they need your tax to finance f***ing brexit Lol, still trying to figure out if I care or not about how you feel about my response. I’m calling a spade a spade. Have you wondered why (even) African countries are making it harder for us to get visas? Ordinary Ethiopia has the audacity to reject a Nigerian’s visa to their country Cos of our bad habits! If the person was lying for a good reason, e for make sense, but for a very very very flimsy reason, it just touched my soul. So apologies for being blunt but that’s why this is a public platform! |

Its in their DNA, its such a shame because it gives the rest of the country a very bad name. I once heard that the embassy interrogators deployed to Nigeria are given special training. CharisJay: Good morning everyone. This thread has been enlightening for some of us silent followers.
A have a question.
Principal is applying for tier 2, she is not going with her husband now, he would come later. But she ticked that he would be traveling with her so that should could add his passport number to her application. He would apply in about 3 months time.
Would this affect the application in any way? Or should she tick no? Sigh, our compulsive need to lie though. No wonder countries are closing their borders to us. |

Rubyventures: With all due respect, you are not in Nigeria
What did you expect?
The kitchen door should shut when you are doing your cooking, what you should realise is that the smell of stock fish and dried fish is not very pleasant. The vent and window should also be opened. Its called consideration for your fellow house mates.
You shouldn't be leaving your clothes in a shared washing machine and its polite to ask the owner before touching their items. It annoys me when my kids leave their washing in the machine. If you are not very friendly with your house mates they are not under any obligation to give you a lift, unless you share the car cost with them.
I could go on and on but Nigerian mentality of assumption should be left at the MMA before boarding. You’re too right about that dried fish smell. That’s how my MIL visited us one day, I just finished making egusi soup for my soul and was waiting for her to leave so I will sink into food happiness. Next thing I know, madam said “hmm that smells so horrible, is that the smell of damp?” I stabbed her 3 times in my head.. how dare she refer to my okporoko as mould, chai! I just told her it was a Nigerian delicacy. Now I’m sure she will never let me cook for family parties |

RalphJean: There seem to be this devilish lie from the deepest pit of hell that has been brandished so much it now looks like the truth:
“Ikoyi Registry”
I have never been to Lagos. I have never been to Abuja. My marriage certificate was issued in my LGA HQ. Not even in my state capital ohhh. And it is what I have been using since 19-MungoPark. I am not sure how correct this is. Before 2018 the embassies received all wedding certificates both local and federal. But there was a circular in the newspapers that the embassies are only going to recognise federal. I didn’t want to test the waters with my own spousal visa so I just went to a federal court and did mine to avoid stories that touch. So unless someone that did their spousal visa in 2018 says that they used their local govt wedding cert, I think it’s best to just do the federal. |

RalphJean: Good morning brother, It’s nice you said your wife is reading all the responses here. 1. Why EXACTLY does she not even want to VISIT Nigeria? 2. In all her own applications for ILR, what has she been writing? Single? Married?
You & your wife needs to talk. If she loves you, as much as you Love her. Sit down together and reason like adults. You return to Nigeria. She returns a little thereafter. You go to a registry and get married legally (“again”). Organise a little ceremony. She returns to the UK alone. You guys begin to file for spousal visa. #Dazzol
In one of your posts, you said travelling to Naija will be too expensive for her. That’s not entirely correct. £1400 is enough for a return ticket for her. The remaining ‘change’ is more than enough for registry marriage, and a little party thereafter.
Don’t make things difficult for yourselves. This is exactly what I said, but no, my mouth is smelling so he didn’t want to listen. If he has been married before, he will have to divorce her and re-marry (unless the first certificate wasn’t from a court). That’s the only way he can come in through the right way and he able to work. |

LuvlyIva: Many thanks. But divorcing my wife just because of this lie. Divorce takes a long time. What do you think please?
I am not overstaying again, not easy here overstaying. Divorce is difficult when one party is refusing. It’s convenient to divorce her seeing as you’re re-marrying her. Unless you won’t be requesting for a spousal visa, you must divorce and remarry her to have your lie tally with your marriage. Or let’s pray they didn’t noticed that you declared that you’re single. |

Or if you overstayed you have to keep overstaying till after 10 years, of which you have to divorce and remarry her while waiting for the 10 years. Thanks for your time you too! |
