The NHS take private patients and you also have some private clinic/ hospitals as well but it is very VERY VERY expensive so make sure you are fully aware of the cost before you start that waka

One of my friend came from naija to treat breast cancer , if you compare the cost compared to India it was a lot so do your research well
God bless you plenty kiss

It’s £145.18 per week or 90% of your weekly earnings. Which ever one is less. I prefer to return back after a week because £145 doesn't even cover my council tax
Damn that’s crappy money o. So that’s what they will pay a woman after she gives birth? grin I don’t understand, why not the full salary?

This is going to make people not to take the maternity or paternity. What if that’s someone’s daily salary, they will now pay the person that for a week?

Nawa, they really don’t want people to have children in this country grin

Since doctors are leaving Nigeria to come here, I think the good doctors have finished in Nigeria already grin

Anyway, I want to bring a family member here for better medical care, which I intend to pay for. The person has done a bone operation doubtlessly in Nigeria and it’s still not fixed (I think he had Blounts). I believe he will get better medical care here, so I want him to come then I’ll pay.

Is this possible in the UK?

Brioche isn't that bread too sweet ... you can easily spot Johnny-just-come tongue. You still have sweet mouth from naija. You dont want to join brits and eat tasteless regular bread

Personally even if its affordable, i don't i want to come to this world to come and live for the kids o.

Firstly, bringing them here is one thing they should be grateful for, i did't get this from my parents.

Secondly, i would ensure they live in an area with schools with outstanding ratings, and that would mean i'm gonna be paying a lot more on rent/mortgage.

Thirdly, i would also enroll them for extra lessons to make up...

Abeg, i don try, if i remember some more, i'll add to it.

I have not come to this world to live for the kids alone, make i enjoy and save for my tomorrow cos its not guaranteed these kids will sort you out when you are old ooo
grin grin yes o, you have over tried!

I will google places that have great schools and have it in mind when we move. Since that kain money no dey, at least let them live in a place with great cheap/free schools.

Grammar is good as well.... although prepare to spend on good lesson that will prepare the child for 11+.. those lessons are not cheap and start those lessons early . Even state schools are ok. Just make sure the area is a bit ok and the rating is at least good ..... location matters a lot. ..... There are many good state and faith schools . Private is good as well, the curriculum is more extensive but don't kill yourself. Only go private if you can afford it . Everybody race / path in life is different .

Someone once told me a joke. The drug sellers are state school kids and the drug users are public(private) school kids .... . Either way there no escaping it .lol. but God forbids.

Many children turn out alright and great from both sides so I block such thoughts from my head . we as parents can only try our best and hope for the best
Thanks for the encouragement. To be fair, it’s my poor Nigerian mentality that’s making me look down on their government schools- they may actually be very great (definitely better than Nigerian private secondary schools I am sure). I only feel guilty because I know my folks spent to send me to the best. So I feel I should return the favour to the kids. I expected private (or public as it’s called) to be expensive, I just didn’t think it would be this expensive.

Make I born the pikin first before I worry about school cheesy

I know loads of Nigerian kids doing very well in the ordinary schools, if you are lucky to have a good school near you. Why waste money on private schooling. It all depends on the student and home upbringing. Parents should spend a little bit of time with their kids and not work all the hours God sent. The school can’t train your kids for you. Gary Lineker sent his son to one of the best private schools close to £200k a year and he didn’t get one grade. He tried to blame the teachers and the school.
You are very right. It all boils down to upbringing and spending time with them. Thanks so much love.

This price you are quoting is for secondary schools, Primary is less.
I just told hubby that maybe we should plan for private primary school, he is asking me what rubbish is that, that why spend money when the child will just go and learn to paint grin

But that private secondary school cost dey fear me o. There’s also the probability that (yes they are safe from mixing with the less ambitious kids but) they can mix with the spoilt brats that may do drugs and are just useless to their parents.

This school fees money and baby sitting money is making me consider staying on contraceptives forever grin

We will have grammar school at the back of our minds, shikena. God dey!

You're welcome.

The UK must have amongst the highest (if not the highest) visa related fees in the World. For a large company to bring in a migrant on a Tier 2 visa with a partner and two children will be even more expensive now. For a five year Tier 2 visa for a large company to bring in the whole family of four from abroad it will cost the following:

Four Tier 2 Visa fees for up to five years. £4,880
Certificate of Sponsorship Fee. £199
Immigration Skills Charge for five years for main applicant. £5,000
Immigration Health Surcharge for five years for four family members. £8,000
Total cost for a family of four. £18,079

In reality in many cases this does not cover all the costs. Many employers will need to apply for a Tier 2 sponsor licence, will have to pay advertising costs and will pay additional fees for priority visa processing. The total cost in Government visa fee related expenses could easily be over £20,000 in this situation.

https://workpermit.com/news/uk-immigration-health-surcharge-double-8-january-2019-20190106
Woow! You’re joking cheesy

You know what’s funny? Sensible people voted for brexit because they wanted the government to treat all non-brits equally. So technically, for the NHS (which is predominantly non-brits) to bring in a Spanish doctor and his family, they would pay such an amount? shocked

The NHS is crashing as it is, imagine if they had to pay such an amount for their eu workers? They didn’t plan the brexit well. Shey they should have reduced the cost of education so that their youths can go to uni to study the courses that they depend on other countries for?

Anyway, It’s either they bring that £18k down for all immigrants or the country will really enter recession.

The UK Immigration Health Surcharge, which had been expected to double in December 2018, increased on 8 January 2019 the Home Office has confirmed. The immigration health surcharge increased from £200 to £400 per year for many UK visa categories including the Tier 2 visa, Tier 1 entrepreneur visa, Sole Representative visa and Tier 1 Investor visa categories. The UK visa fee for
international students applying for the Tier 4 visa, those applying for the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Visa Scheme and for other Tier 5 visa applications rose from £150 to £300 per year.

Welldone every one,

please if someone says OUTSIDE MANCHESTER, SUCH AS LONDON, GLASGOW, SCOTLAND AND WALES, SHEFFIELD, LIVERPOOL, LEEDS,BRADFORD ETC.
Does the person means cities or towns in UK and England? Just trying to find out the remaining places the person meant.

Based on my research on Google. Here is what i got.
Cities in UK
https://simple.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_in_the_United_Kingdom

And

Cities and towns in England

https://simple.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_and_towns_in_England

Which means the cities in UK and cities and towns in England are the other places.

Am I right?
There’s a huge difference between England and UK. UK means United Kingdom and it comprises England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

What you’re asking is if there’s a difference between cities in Lagos and Cities (and towns) in Nigeria. Whatever is a citiy in Lagos must be a city in Nigeria but whatever is a city in Nigeria may not be a city in Lagos.

Glasgow is in Scotland so it’s obviously not a city in England. Manchester is a city in England and therefore is a city in the UK but not a city in Scotland, Wales or NI.

But would double check and update you.....

Pls mod.... can someone who studied physics go for nursing school in Uk? How possible is that?
Of course you can. It’s your money! Besides you’re still in sciences so you will have knowledge of the pre-requisite. But if the school checks your result and assume you don’t have the basic pre-req, they will advise you to do a foundation course (that you’ll pay for obviously). So like I said, you can do anything- it’s your money.

Wish you the best- nursing is a great course but I’ll advice you do it as an undergrad degree and not a masters degree because this is the only way you can work.

If I am correct it takes 3months for processing but priority takes 3weeks or so. Just check the processing time for the category of visa you want for updated info.

In other news, IHS fees will increase to £400 per year because the govt spend an average of £420 on individual immigrant. UK and money shocked
As in! It’s very irritating! Besides I doubt it’s true that they spend that much on non-uk immigrants. All through when I was in uni here, I can hand count how many Nigerian students ever went to GP, talk less of hospital, for anything (I was part of the Nigerian society, so we always checked on sick students).

Lol

Let her apply for UK visa na. She can just say she is travelling to Czech republic with her sister in UK and would like to pass through for a day or two.

In my last application, the reason I gave for wanting a (long term) UK visa was that i like passing through London anytime i am travelling.

And really, from my travel history, I pass through London when I am going to the US or even traveling to other European countries.

Maybe I got away with it because I am a frequent traveller and I have actually lived (and studied) in the UK... But she can give it a try.
You’re lucky then. This is her first time and she will may not be granted a UK visa as she’s not working or married (I just wanted to treat her). I read here that I’m not allowed to sponsor someone above 18, so I can’t even sponsor her, that’s why I was trying to dodge getting the UK visa.

Thanks jare!
