CaraJewel:I sincerely can't say. Admission processes in Nigerian institutions always defy logic and is more often about who you know or how much you're willing to part with, than by merit. Even with this new system, I don't see the trend changing. Having said that, using the instance you gave. Let's say the department can only take 200 students and then only 70 out of 1000 candidates applying for that department made over 80 points. These 70 are then admitted based on merit, leaving us with 130 slots. IMSU being a state uni might then say for indigenes, they'll allocate 30 slot for those having between 60-79 points leaving us with 100 slots. Then candidates who applied to other universities but are given provincial admission by JAMB would then be considered. Lets say 20 are admitted leaving us with 80 slots. Then catchment areas (candidates from nearby states or so i think) gets 30 leaving us with 50. The "Nigerian" factor comes in at these point for the remaining 50 slots. i.e who you know, how much so you have and then luck. Lol.. Forget my jargon and be hopeful |
Aristo3146:Lol... I wrote Jamb exactly ten years ago and actually had no business with the thread. Curiosity just made me click on it (unto no knowledge is wasted things abi na information is power) only to see people expressing their hate for the government of the day rather than ask for help in understanding the news item like sensible students should do. |
hiijaay:Miss, no one is going back to analog or whatever. What this means is that, in line with the minister's earlier directives that Post-UTME, post-JAMB, Aptitude test or what ever name you know it by, remains cancelled. Screening of candidates wouldn't involve any form of examination (whether CBT or "analog" because candidates have already done that when the sat for JAMB abi UTME. And that the amount to be paid for that screening is a flat rate of N2500 (bank and "hidden charges" inclusive) across all universities. And the said screening now involves vetting your UTME scores, SSCE results by grading, catchment area etc. Maybe oral interview. No more exams after JAMB. |
iswallker:My brother abeg help me explain am to them. I no get strength. |
Our Educational system from primary to tertiary levels need total overhauling... Over 60 comments and not more than 5% of those who commented understood this simple news items. Some even with the "Post-" before the UTME still thinks "JAMB" is inferred here. |
I keep hearing people saying "Catholics don't pray" or "Catholics don't read the bible" and I ask myself is this the same Catholic church I and my family attend or another one? Must we pray at the top of our voices in church for our enemies to die by fire and all that before we're called a bible believing church or prayer house? I mean does God only hear us when we pray out loud, calling down fire on everything seen and unseen? If you are a prayerful person, you're a prayerful person and you can pray without the person sitting next to you knowing. And if you need brethren to join you in prayers you have the Charismatic folks. I mean, there's no time of the day you walk into a Catholic church and you don't see people or someone praying quietly in one corner. Back to you topic, I think it is a dangerous thing for you to worship in different churches. A family that prays together, stays together. Forget love making, there are several other things couples do together that encourages intimacy or closeness, attending church together is one of them. Agreed you pray at home together, but imagine you sitting next to your partner and you both get to listen to the wonderful message from the preacher, it would be better than trying to share it with him later. Also you don't have any strain in your marriage, why give room for people to insinuate what is not there. Again being together in such (religious) functions, you don't give room for unnecessary temptations, thoughts or avoidable acts. I bet you are glad having him by your side during your weekly fellowship? Or perhaps maybe it's just a thing of pride for you to pull him to follow you to your church and leave his "if he loves you"? Marriage is not as hard as y'all always want it to seem like. You should learn to guard you home and never give room for the devil to creep in. Devil dey church too remember. |
Seriously the reason you dragged onitsha into this is baffling.A town without govt presence built by hardworking struggling men with zero assistance from the govt is the town you can use to compare to those that got government presence. Nne5:Lets keep Abuja (The FCT) aside, stating with Lagos, with all the so called "Federal presence", can you list the number of high raised buildings built by the FG aside the CBN HQ annex in Lagos Island and the abandoned Federal secretariat building (If i may add those) in Ikoyi?. And while you keep making excuses (like you don't have successive state governments in your region who received allocations from the FG), remember in the last seventeen years of our nationhood, it's just one year now that Lagos is being governed by FG's ruling party. But just in case you still don't get my point, ask yourself why Cosmas Maduka built his HQ in V.I and not Nnnewi |

Op this is'nt PH but lagos.

Just in case you are wondering , the UNIT/SECTION abbreviation on their mugshot plaque (abi na placard sef) simply mean: PLEASE SHUT THE FVCK UP ![]() |
Though i don't know this part of Lekki (I live and work here), I can confidently tell you blocked drainages are responsible for more than 90% of the flooding experienced here. Everybody na big man for here, no body tries to clear the gutter in front of their houses. Or one tipper would just empty sand/gravel inside the gutter because one big oga wants to start building or carry out renovation. All the residents association knows is to go about collecting levies and contesting elections. |
How did we get to this level in Nigeria for Christ sake? A wedding thread that calls for celebration quickly degenerate into a tribal warfare.. |
Christ.. Not until i got to see the many deleted comments did i realize that many thought the op was referring to sex. Immediately I saw the topic, the first thing i thought of was my power generating which almost knocked yesterday because of low engine oil. We seriously have more problems than we are ready to admit in this country. |
While the story might be a fiction of the writer's imagination, open marriages are everywhere. And in more cases, the couples are actually happy together. I think the problem with most of the commenters so far is the fact that most of them find it hard to believe people (including women) have sex without emotions. Reason why some are saying one partner might fall in love with their cheating partner. Why fall in love when you can always return back to you spouse after a good time together? Ever wondered why affairs are only interesting when hidden? But once they become open and known to the public, a typical affair usually loses the sparks. He key word in such relationships is self control, respect for your partner (e.g not getting involved with their friends/relatives etc) and health safety. But to be sincere, it's so difficult to be in such relationship when you actually do love/care about your partner. |
skarlett:I believe you read the topic and saw where I stated I was writing based on my personal experience? Back to your submission. 1. Several "underprivileged" students went through the university without following the campus prostituting route. So yes, it's all about their decision too 2. Most "underprivileged" students who go into campus prostitution do so because of greed also. It's not as if their parents/guardians back home couldn't provide their basic needs. They just lost focus and became desirous of lives they can't afford. So yes, not only the "rich" are greedy. 3. Most "underprivileged" students come from stricter homes than rich kids. So it's still all about opportunity for some. 4. Experimenting has nothing to do with rich or underprivileged children. Everyone tries one thing or the other at a point in time. Some regret and retrace their steps, others let go. 5. To say only rich girls are adventurous is a great disservice to girls generally. My point is besides the usual story of "poverty" some girls use as an excuse, there are several other reasons why most girls choose this path. Else ask yourself why they don't quit after making reasonable amount of money to start a more honorable and legit business in campus like other struggling students. Keep the answer. |
sevantex:We both know this act precedes both administrations. |
Flexherbal:Thanks |
drestoneokuta:Lol |
A topic about 17 female students of Unilag alleged to be missing after a supposedly house party in Lekki graced the front page yesterday. For all its worth, it might just be a fabrication because (as at the time of posting this) no one else has come out to corroborate the story. But we do pray for their safe return if true. Well, from My personal (University) experience I'll like to share five top reasons why girls go into campus prostitution otherwise known as "Runs, Runz, Aristo etc. Having attended one of the top private universities and being really close with some "Runs girls", my points would likely sound strange and different from the every day "excuses" people give to encourage or justify the oldest trade known to man in our citadels of learning. Yes, you read right, girls in private universities engage in this act too. And are more often better paid too, no joke. 1. BECAUSE THEY DECIDED TO A point I've learnt in life is the fact that children will always (and definitely grow up to) make their own decisions in life. And most times, the decisions made are not a reflection of the home they come from. That's why we hear negatives about kids from supposedly respectable and Godly parents/homes. So before you start blaming the parents, ask yourself whether they actually did their job but their kid/ward deliberately chose to be wayward. So no matter what your excuse for Runs is, it boils down to the fact that a conscious decision was made to go into it. Some other girls have faced worse situations, but yet decided to look for a honorable path out. 2. SATANIC GREED (COVETOUSNESS) Greed here is when you don't have before and suddenly start craving more after getting a little. Satanic greed here is when you have all that you need, but painfully become desirous and envious of another's possessions. The excuse of coming from poor homes and hence cannot afford to take care of themselves does not hold in these cases. Girls in this category feel outshining each other is a war (not just battle) that must be won at all cost. Their parents can literally provide all they need. But because of the frivolous nature of these "wants" and probably due to the disciplined nature of their parents (who query every penny spent), they resort to helping themselves. 3. HIGH HANDED PARENTS (Omo "Get insides" Discipline is good, but just like everything else, too much of it is bad. I call girls (and boys) in this category "Omo get inside". These are the type of kids whose parents are so strict that upon sighting them standing outside their (prison style) gated house, would quickly rebuke them shouting "Get inside the compound now". Back in secondary school, a driver drops them off at school, waits until closing hours to take them back home. They don't know the name of the street next to theirs and their social life is equal or close to zero. Most in this category lose their virginity to one domestic staff or close relative (topic for another day). Now once in the university (freedom at last), it usually takes a little or no effort from friends in breaking the shell subconsciously built around themselves due to fear of their parents. They club the most, drink the most and have more casual sex because once the holiday begins, it's back to prison. They usually don't even need the money that comes with the act. They are just having fun or at worst "catching up with life". 4. EXPERIMENT/FETISH/KINK/BUCKET-LIST ITEM Girls in these categories started off as just wanting to experiment how it felt to meet a total stranger, have casual sex, wake up the next day and forget his name. While some other just have it as a fetish, a kink or an item in their bucket list. Lists like: Things to do before I leave campus. Or things to do before I get married. On that list, you'll see "I want to have bomb sex", "I want to have two guys take me" etc. Unlike the 90's, 80's and below, girls from the last decade are very much now assertive. Hence they've dropped all stereotypes of ladies being frigid while now exploring their sexuality. But the problem here becomes the fact that after doing it once, twice or thrice, they become hooked to the lifestyle. And just like a drug, they go out of their way to get their fix. Some in this category also don't need the money. 5. ADVENTURE Please permit me to use the lyrics of a song by Cyndi Lauper as explanation for this point Girls Just Want To Have Fun" "I come home in the morning light My mother says when you gonna live your life right Oh mother dear we're not the fortunate ones And girls they want to have fun Oh girls just want to have fun The phone rings in the middle of the night My father yells what you gonna do with your life Oh daddy dear you know you're still number one But girls they want to have fun Oh girls just want to have That's all they really want Some fun When the working day is done Girls - they want to have fun Oh girls just want to have fun Some boys take a beautiful girl And hide her away from the rest of the world I want to be the one to walk in the sun Oh girls they want to have fun Oh girls just want to have That's all they really want Some fun When the working day is done Girls - they want to have fun Oh girls just want to have fun, They want to have fun, They want to have fun... " Believe it or not, a good number of girls engaging in Campus prostitution are just having the fun of their lives and there's nothing anyone, situation or fate that befell some other girls can do about it until they call it quits themselves. These group are usually highly selective of the "events" they attend. So there you have it, five reasons why some girls go into campus prostitution. Bonus tip and short story A guy once approached one of my friends for a relationship. He kept disturbing the girl and she just didn't have his time. But one day she decided to just put him off and told him, "Guy, I be runs girl. No be say tomorrow you go say make I no pick calls again" Embarrassed, the guy left her without saying anything and we thought that was the end. But he met her alone another day and said he was certain she just said that to put him off. Claiming he had studied her very well and asked about her and she came out clean. This was her turning point Today they are both married with children. Now my bonus point is that a good percentage of the real ("baddest" Runs girls have mastered the act of deception that it would be difficult for you to ever find out if they don't open up to you. These set of girls still care about their reputation, bearing in mind the idea of a possible scandal in future etc. making them to be a secretive as a Russian spy. This type are never flashy or move in a group. One man squad things. They are the real "big girls" not all the noise makers showing off everywhere. Even upon graduation, they have regular paying jobs. And neither job or marriage stops them. Fear these ones more. Dem get mind. What Do you say guys? |
" You jump into a car and travel miles to a place you've never been before or have no relatives to fvck a total stranger for days. I try as much as i can to discourage the girl but if she insists, i go ahead to give her my rules. So when next you see a girl getting involved in campus runs, know that the decision wasn't easy to make because it takes serious guts " Quoted from "The Cartel" by Nitefury y'all should read that story. |
"Thereafter before any girl starts working with me, I tell them I agree with them that selling their body is their right (as they always say when asked why they want to get involved in campus prostitution), " but that in truth, there's nothing glamorous about being a runs girl. Runs wasn't for soft-hearted girls because it takes a whole lot of courage to spread your legs, and let a total stranger stick his dick into your vagina or ass ". Except from "The Cartel" by Nitefury |
hibiscus76:Awww. You really do want to know, don't you. |
SmellingAnus:Say that again, because we might just have to put "her" through the nairaland verification test you dig? |
SmellingAnus:Explained? Why didn't you allow her answer the question I asked. You might be crushing on a guy you know. |
hibiscus76:Breath in, breath out, I think you're the same person with the moniker summer1. Ain't you? |
harsysky:I get you.. As for tomatoes, it's quite expensive now. |
In the last twenty something years of my life, I can count the number of times my mom went to the market to buy "foodstuffs". Heck, she just too busy for that. Here is how its done in my home. Once in a month, or two or three, mom say "Our food done finish o" or something like "We need this o" Dad, I or elder brother goes to the market. Buys bag of rice (this one dey hardly finish sef), bag/basin of garri, beans, tubers of yams, bunch of plantain (dis one na every week), basket of tomatoes (which is then blended and stored in the freezer), bag of onions. Then a full/whole/complete goat, cow head and some beef, carton of ice fish (some of these items are smoked, others are stored in the fridge). Dad works in a different state (north), so buying these items are quite cheap. The only thing I know my mom takes care off Is red oil. And she still doesn't go to the market, she just put a call across and it's sent from her village. Nobody goes to the market every day in my home. But if there's anything that's needed, like vegetables (mumsy sef get garden for backyard), she'll pass through the market from the office or my younger sister handles it. This formula has worked for them for years and is actually still working for them. And everyone is happy. Biko, do whatever works for your home. Everyone has an opinion. |
I never knew Obudu was now in Rivers state.. |
@ Nicole Minetti... Damn.. See those jugs. @ Julia Bonk, Mi love em' red heads. |
Acidosis:More like eating their cakes and having it back. |
because candidates have already done that when the sat for JAMB abi UTME. And that the amount to be paid for that screening is a flat rate of N2500 (bank and "hidden charges" inclusive) across all universities.
