Nice prospects bro. You need just 3 things in abundance: Time, Money and Space. All other things are secondary.

1. First and Foremost, to start something of this nature, you need a big facility. You can start with a plot of land or more depending on how commercial you wanna go.

2. Put all your structures in place; perimeter fence wires, shelter, quarantine measures, etc

3. Get a vet doctor and put him on a retainership agreement. With this agreement, he owes u allegiance and he'll answer to your calls anyway anytime.

Above all, you need to ask yourself the motive behind going into this deal. To what end?

Abroad, when pets are rescued, they are later given up for adoption when their health is stable.

But here in Nigeria, hardly can u find a good breed to rescue. You hardly see a homeless rottweiller or a similar breed to rescue. The only stray dogs you see around are our own "local dogs".

Now tell me, how many people can risk all the time and money for our Nigerian Shepherd?

We understand one has to cross several hurdles in operating a facility like yours, no Power supply, no water, fuel hike, increase in price of virtually everything and the overall economic recession but I believe u can improve.

It's a medical condition called "myasis". In the interim, with the application of palm oil to each maggot cave, remove them as many times as u need to. Then contact ur Vet. A mild antibiotic should do the magic.

Myasis occurs when ur dog sleeps or spends longer hours on damp surfaces. It is understandable during this rainy season.

Act fast bro, myasis is harmful to dogs.

From the tone of your write-up, I can tell you're a newbie, no offense please.

I won't advice you to buy an adult dog. What's your motive for buying an adult if I may ask? An adult dog is almost untrainable in the hands of newbies, especially when luck brings u across a difficult one.

Why not get 2 pups, allow them grow, play, hunt and roam together. They'll grow up thinking they are siblings and they'll be inseparable. Within a few months, they'll be looking huge and happy. I believe this will pay off than having to buy an adult dog that will keep giving you troubles.

Just my opinion tho, not imposing anything on you.

It is natural for you to be scared of dogs, considering the fact that u didn't grow up living with one. But there are ways to get pass your fears.

1. Put it at the back of your mind that dogs are naturally human friendly as long as they don't see u as a threat to them. You can start by making friends with someone that owns a pet breed such as lhasa apso, pug, etc.

2. Dogs love treats just like the NPF loves bribe. you can always buy a dog's loyalty by being his friend, giving him food and all. Only then can u understand the dog.

3. Learn to commune with dogs. Build a chemistry with them, draw a connect between ur mind and theirs. Do u know dogs speak, but to only those who know how to listen. Dogs are the only creatures on earth who will never betray you. If u feed humans, clothe them and provide them with shelter, that doesn't mean they can't betray you (ask Jesus), but a dog never betrays his master.

4. And lastly, if you meet a dog for the first time, the worst it will do is give u a scratch or a little bite, it doesn't usually get past that, after which u become friends (tho there are some crazy breeds u can't try it with o), so u need to develop courage and make friends with a lot of dogs as possible.

I wish u best of luck. Put ur fears behind you and kill ur phobia for dogs. It's always a wonderful experience around dogs.

There's dog ownership, puppy peddling and dog breeding, depending on how professional you want to go.

For dog ownership, the prime aim isn't profit-oriented. They raise dogs for certain reasons either for pet or security. But somewhere along the line, they get distracted and they'll want to make puppies from their stock.

For puppy peddlers, they're profit maximizers, they produce puppies for the purpose of selling. Most of them have no other source of income and therefore needs to generate and recycle funds by selling puppies. They even go to the extent of getting puppies from external bodies, add a little commission then resell. This is what keeps their business moving.

For dog breeders, they're professionals in their field. They're keen on methodologies and strategies. They pay more attention to maintaining breed standards and improving the quality of their stock, generation after generation. After each litter, they retain the stock breed while breeding out the undesired traits. Their major aim is to attain excellence. These are people who will pay a fortune on tapping into the finest bloodline. The investment phase gulps a lot but the harvest phase produces what the puppy peddler will earn in 3years.

So bro, u need to find out which class u belong before delving into it. And please do ur findings well, it is not easy raising dogs, ask those that are in it, everyone of them will have a story to tell.

I think you're the one being a little ungrateful here and I think you owe us all an apology for taking our time.

1. You want the best stud for a mating fee of 5k!!! Contact reputable rott breeders and ask them how much they charge for mating fees. Most of them would even refuse mating ur birch as soon as they notice she's not of an equal purity.

2. You also paid 300naira per day for boarding fees and u expect the best feed for ur dog. Please note that 300 naira is not even up to the cost of a can of JoJo.

3. You alleged that your dog contracted infection from ify's dog. That's understandable. But let me ask you this. Is your dog the only dog in ify's kennel. Why didn't the other dogs contract the infection too.

4. You alleged that your dog, pet book, leash, and some other items were being seized by ify, let us assume that is true.but at least you have them all back, so I won't say you got swindled and please take back that word.

5. The picture of the stud u posted is very ok for that mating fee u paid. In some other parts of lag, you will be charged as high as 15k for a stud of equal quality, and terms and conditions will still apply.

6. I will blame ify for not seeking your consent before going on with the mating. That's not so good, truth be told.

I've also been trying to reach the numbers ify posted but they ain't going thru.

Bro, your pups died due to ur greed. It happens, I've been there once in my hustling days, I know how it feels. If you had opened up about the birth of those pups, maybe you and ify could have found help before it got to that stage. It was after 4weeks when they've started dying that u thot u shld ask the vet for help? That's very wrong.

I know neither you nor ify from nowhere, we all met on this platform but I'll rather say the truth and die for it than join others in nursing your ego.

Hey bro, I don't know what transpired between you guys, but I've dealt with ImFortress a number of times and he has proven to be transparent in his dealings.

You have told ur part of the story, and he has said his part. If what u guys both explained here is true, then I'll say the fault is yours for the below reasons:

1. You shld on no occasion hold back a stud puppy or withold vital info about the number of puppies littered, or their sex.

2. I think 500naira is a very fair price for boarding, as here on the island, no one would board for you for less than 2k/day. And this is not inclusive of cost of meds. It's just shelter and feeding.

3. As for the pictures of both parents, mating pictures inclusive, pls post pictures here for us to see, and also the chat history between both parties.

Bro, I'm trying to be as blunt and sincere as possible, but if what IMfortress said is true, then I think u owe him an apology and an amicable settlement on the stud pup.

And if what he told us is false, then pls tell us where he lied.

You've done the right thing bro. Give her time to heal. Don't feed her quantity but quality for now.

Did the vet tell u the cause of her illness so that u can avoid a future occurrence?

Try observe ur dog's poo...if it's watery, has some funny stench and with blood stains, then it's parvo. Take ur dog to the VET asap.

Also run your hands thru your dog's furs, if her skin has several bumps in form of small boils, then that's myasis.

Whichever the case is, you still need to consult your VET.

Please hurry while you still can.

Firstly, because the dog is not used to walking. Socialisation is key remember?

Secondly, the dog feels insecure with all those distractions while walking. Whatever happened to the dog-master bond between u guys, or probably u haven't built the bond.

To correct all these, start by walking ur street every night. Build the master-leash-dog bond. This will boost his confidence and kill fear.

So whenever u start walking during the day, since he's already learnt to trust u for security, his confidence is restored.

The seller might be right to some extent, just that he didn't reveal all d facts....if u mate a badly bred GSD with a badly bred CO, both from impure progeny, such puppies could be the outcome. If u trace the pedigree of these pups, they'll take u all d way up to a mutt. That's d power of genes. And I feel the seller is aware of these fact, and that's why he sold to u for 10k.

If I were u, I'll let it slide. Keep the dogs if u love them and if they fulfil their obligations as pets or security.

Just try save up if u're so keen on having foreign breeds. Puppies from pure progeny don't come cheap. And always endeavor to show off the pups to experts before paying for them.

Please forgive ur son's friend. The young lad is only trying to earn an income.

Start by walking ur dog at nights, when the street is dead. Give him sometime to get used to walking without distractions. That way, he has his confidence.

You can then proceed to walking him during the day. Then, he'll see all those distractions as non-existent.

Try this, it works....it's the only logical remedy

You need to always run ur hands on ur dog at every given time. This allows u notice every change(s) on him...

Watch out for more, they reproduce except if you've already administered d antibiotic...

Raise a new thread on this pls and it'd be great if u can share pictures too. If u mated her 8weeks ago, then she shld be due for delivery in like 2days time, except if it's a pseudo pregnancy sha. Also check if she has started lactating.

Your choice actually depends on what you're guarding against and who/what you're denting entry/break in. Based on availability in Naija, on the extreme position, go for a malinois. You could also consider a rottie, but I wouldn't advice a boerboel or GSD, what most of them have is cage aggression...

Very good GSD u have there, the best white GSD I've seen in recent times.

One advice, get a white female GSD with an equal purity and breed, that's if u have d facilities tho.

I don't like the idea of putting him up for stud service, people with runts will approach you wanting you to mate their dogs, but then what progeny would u get out of it, except if a white female GSD owner spots you, which is very rare a case.

BTW, where in ajah do u stay? I breed black GSDs tho, no intention of mating with yours o, just thot we could build a r/ship. I stay in ajah too

@OP, please accept my sincere condolences. And please that's definitely not parvo, stop treating ur headache with menstrogen. Parvo virus doesn't act that way. The victim's poo stinks and has blood stains, not an entire pool of blood. And clearly from the pic, I see no sign of dehydration on the dead kid. Parvo drains all body fluid leaving the dead with one third its original size.

I'll advice u tell ur VET to run a proper clinical diagnosis instead on doing a trial by error service on ur dogs.
