RomanceWhat’s Your Deal Breaker? by archdon(op): 7:39am On Jun 15, 2016
What is that one thing your partner could do or turn out to be that would make you end a relationship? I’ve heard several different opinions ranging from an abusive nature to bad breath. Fair enough. But the most common as expected turned out to be infidelity.

When people hear or talk about Infidelity, physical infidelity is usually what comes to mind. The fact that your partner had intercourse with someone else is unacceptable. It’s painful. You can’t take it. It’s the height of betrayal.

However, while it is not my intention to trivialize this deal breaker, I would just like to bring attention to the fact that emotional infidelity could be a deal breaker as well. Infact, Emotional cheating is as bad, if not worse, than its “wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am” counterpart.

“Emotional Infidelity has been defined as a relationship between a person and someone other than (their) spouse (or lover) that affects the level of intimacy, emotional distance and overall dynamic balance…”.

Everyone is very familiar with Physical infidelity but what people don’t understand is that it first starts in the mind. If you feed your mind with wrong images, wrong conversations, wrong movies etc. you eventually find yourself gradually embracing the need to act likewise. Nothing happens just like that. Emotional infidelity on the other hand is something people are not very conversant with but starts the same way in the mind. To have feelings for someone, it must have developed over time. It takes weeks, months, even years. It means you were conscious of what was taking place for that long period without any feelings of guilt. You allowed it, and you enjoyed it.

An emotional affair is so subtle and seems so harmless that it is easily overlooked by many people. It is easy to think you can justify it by simply saying “we are just friends, nothing happened”. But think again. Something did happen. What happened is you have formed a deep romantic attachment with someone who isn’t your partner that could inadvertently cause pain and destroy your primary relationship. You have kept secrets. You have lied to your partner. You have broken the trust your partner had in you. You have done everything but sleep with that person. And trust me, sooner or later, that is bound to happen.

If you’re texting a member of the opposite sex and your partner is uncomfortable with it but you think it’s more important to keep the other person’s friendship, that’s emotional cheating. If you prefer that person’s company to your partner’s, that’s emotional cheating. If you find yourself complaining to that person about your partner, you, my dear friend, are guilty of emotional infidelity.

“It starts out as a friendship, so it can be confusing,” says sex and relationship expert Dr. Tammy Nelson, author of “The New Monogamy: Redefining Your Relationship After Infidelity.” “The important thing is to determine where a friendship crosses the line. It is a slippery slope from friend to emotional affair to a sexual relationship.”

So that lady at your workplace you eat lunch with all the time, the Facebook friend you are connected to 24/7, the ex you still talk to and ruminate on the past with, they’re all people you are likely to cheat on your partner with.

If you still think physical cheating is the height of infidelity, think again.

So what’s your deal breaker?

Technology MarketWhy It's Time To Stop Laughing At Nokia (pics) by archdon(op): 4:47pm On Jun 10, 2016
Nokia no longer the butt of tech jokes

You know what? I think it's time to stop laughing at Nokia.
The clichéd joke is that it's tech's most famous has-been, a firm that peaked with the 3310 and has nothing else to offer the world other than nostalgia about how your dad "still uses his old Nokia!".

And after Microsoft bought Nokia's mobile division, and then swiftly gave up on making phones, it seemed like that was it for Nokia as a consumer brand.
But what Microsoft left behind in Finland, a country which once oozed with pride over Nokia's success, was a bevy of bright engineers and strategists.
Nokia isn't going away, and it surely once again deserves the tech world's respect and attention.

Velocity
Let's start with its most recent acquisition: Withings. Withings is a French digital health company that holds the accolade - if you ask me - for producing the only smartwatch on the market that isn't grossly offending to your eyes.

Another of its products, launched just this week, is its smart weighing scale. There are a few of these on the market, but Withings/Nokia's scale is the only one that measures your "pulse wave velocity" (PWV). I hadn't heard of it either, but I'm told it's a measure of how blood is moving around your body. A key metric for measuring your cardiovascular health.

Nokia's recently-completed purchase of Withings cost the firm peanuts - €170m ($191m; £133m). The sort of amount you'd imagine Facebook finds down the back of its sofa.

For that money the company has essentially bought a ready-made digital health division with an impressive, sleek array of products and the promise of more to come.

I'm writing this in the lobby of Nokia's new San Francisco office, the new home of Nokia Tech, the firm's innovation wing. Cedric Hutchings - formerly Withings chief executive, but now Nokia's head of health - told me joining Nokia gives them the chance to expand rapidly. He has lots of ideas and needed Nokia's money.

Robotic ET
Nokia's other big focus is virtual reality. Of course, that's a crowded space. Next week I'll be at E3 looking at virtual reality gaming, and the roster of companies producing hardware is huge - Oculus, Sony, HTC, Microsoft, Samsung… you can't move for VR gear.

But Nokia is taking a different angle. Its focus has been on making the best virtual reality camera.
No easy task - you need to film a complete 360 degrees, and provide the ways and means to stick it all together. Facebook's attempt at this looks like some kind of angry robotic ET - but Nokia's Ozo is a neat little orb.

"We are taking a risk, but we think it's worth it," said Ramzi Haidamus, president of Nokia Tech.
"Virtual reality puts us on the market as the most innovative company in that space."

Patience will be a virtue here. Despite a lot of excitement, VR is still a revolution-in-waiting. Mark Zuckerberg has said he expects it will take several years to know if the VR headsets will be a success. For Nokia, the wait will likely be even longer.
"Yes it's a gamble," Mr Haidamus agreed. "But it's such an exciting space and we're in year one of many years to come."
The Ozo costs $60,000 - but if Hollywood is on the brink of getting excited about VR, that's a target market ready and waiting to pay that kind of money.

If VR is the next tech gold rush, you could say Nokia is the company with the best shovel.

If it comes off, the ones laughing will be Nokia - all the way to the bank. A tech comeback few might have expected.

PoliticsNiger Delta Avengers Have Misplaced Anger And Are Hypocrites by archdon(op): 11:53am On Jun 01, 2016

. When they were fully represented and not Marginalised in appointments, what did they achieve.
The Niger Delta is cursed with the worse leaders

They have misplaced anger, Jonathan was there first as VP and they President for 8 yrs and did nothing for his pple, the contacts and scholarships for the region goes the the children of their elites, Kings and leaders,

Their anger should be directed towards their leaders not Nigeria, Nigeria even have a whole minister dedicated to the development of their communities "Minister of the Niger delta affairs" usually someone from there with their own huge budget and all, nobody is holding him /her responsible.

Were they not the same people(Niger Delta) that celebrated late Alams when he returned from London after his arrest, the same people that wanted to stop repatriation of Ibori. And now don't want Jonathan probed and prosecuted

Take Awka Ibom as an example they had good good governor for 8yrs only see what he achieved, he turned Akwa Ibom from a fishing village to a Modern State, with world class hospitals, schools, stadium, improved infrastructure and agricultural

If u need anybody to blame blame urself for cheating urself but blaming others for ur problems is just easy and lazy

Looking at d way d bullet penetrated tru d wind screen one wld understand dat d man's head ws d major target.
The truth remains dat this story is fishy
Not to dishonour the dead, but if the account of the soldiers were to be believed then they followed the right procedure, in truth u never kw what the bus might be carrying to a civilian a bus is just a vehicle but to a soldier a bus is a dangerous weapon on wheels,
why speed past a check point just cos u're police officers, they broke the rules and it's a lesson to all government convoys dat like breaking the rules just cos of little holdup at check points, someday they'll shoot at them too
Last year they opened fire on the governor of borno convoy to in error cos of similar circumstances

Everybody else followed the rules why shouldn't they?

Does he think he's there to observe and rant on the Internet?
PhonesRe: SARS officers Arrested Me For having A Social Media (kik) App On My Smartphone by archdon: 6:48am On May 31, 2016
Samtoby:
Like an hour ago, I was at the back sit of SARS vehicle with handcuffs in my hands. They said am a Yahoo boy for having a kik application on my smartphone.

I was traveling from Omu Aran to ilorin, I pressed up, wearing my blue Jean, T shirt, my newly bought African shaped neck chain and All stars sneakers. So the journey began and we passed the first police check point and few minutes after continuing the journey, we got to SARS people (at a junction in about entering Oke Onigbin town) and we were told to come down (all boys), I first feel scared but also I have nothing to be scared off cause I have the receipt for all my gadget with me, so I keep calm and answer his question perfectly. He check my pocket and found my two phones (Lumia 535 and Infinix Note 2), he check my bags and found my belongings (books, wires and my laptops), he asked if I have the receipt and I answered yes. Then he said I should unlock my phone (Note 2), I did and he start checking then he saw a social media app (KIK) on my phone, he asked if am a "game boy" and I said yes, all my mind was he is asking about video games because I have up to 20 games on my phone. He check other guys then told me to follow him, I did and he said "it's good that I don't lie", he asked my school and my name and I told him. Then from no where he said am a "Yahoo boy", the soul in me seems to left my body that moment, I realise am in big soup and I start swearing on everything that comes to my mouth. I deny his allegations then he start frowning and threat to destroy my career in school and that I will go to jail if I didn't confess, so I decided to come down to his level and ask how much to settle him, he said 20k, I started begging but he's desperate and then he called his boss, an old man, to my surprise he also lay the same allegations and all I can do is start begging and swearing am not a Yahoo boy.
Never unlock ur fone or ur laptop to a police officer without a warrant, except of course he has a gun to ur head, tell them it's a privacy concern, as a citizen u hv a right to privacy

U let the police officer violate ur privacy and then victimise u, u're an undergraduate u should kw better, without an extenuating circumstance he can't search ur private property, would u let a police officer search ur apartment without a warrant?

Note there is difference between search and check

Another mistake u made was coming down to their level, never stop speaking big grammar it intimidates them and even though u are going to call ur dad tell them u're calling ur lawyer dat scares the sh*t out of them. And after the call don't talk to them anymore u'll see how scared they'll be not knowing the kind of lawyer dat is coming

Firstly, I disagree with putting accounting on the list, do u even hv any idea how many pple study accounting cos it's easy and how any decent accounting software could do what they do?,

Say dat rubbish abt Mech is unfair, Mech is just as valid as Elect, and in most University Mechanical takes less students dan electrical cos of the level of difficulty and facilities required to train them I mean u hv a better chance of getting admission for Electrical than Mech,

And Nursing, are u kidding me, even nurses don't wanna be nurses cos of the treatment they get in pay and lack of respect for their jobs, Dude just go to hospitals and see the behaviour of nurses out of frustration

Finding job all over is hard in Nigeria, there is no course in Nigeria u study dat u won't find it hard to look for job especially if u study courses dat hv high number of graduates like accounting, business administration, computer science etc
