davidylan: I think you shld go back and study first because each time you folks post all these obvious gotcha nonsense, it exposes u all for the intellectual lightweights and cerebrally lazy individuals u are. U do know that Krishna was the 8th incarnation of his mother and was concieved from the hairs of her head right? Ure also aware that there are no original documents to support your claims right?HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. you've just fcked yourself over!!!! Show me ONE ORIGINAL document that proves Jesus. That is the whole point!!! they are all claims. why do we show preference over one than the others ? |
davidylan: Do you know anything about him? Beyond the tiny bit you were able to skim on your skeptic webpages?LOL!! certainly nothing to do with skeptics. Because the religion died doesnt mean it never existed in that way. By the way even the Hindu god Krishna and the Greek god Attis all virgin birth, betrayed and killed, rose again on the third day, performed miracles. Christians yell "plagiarism" to muslims where as even they have done the same. The concept isn't new. and this has nothing to do with skeptic website. Historians will confirm this. Find a hindu friend and ask him about Krishna. Since we cant get any old religion Egyptian or Greek ![]() |
Kay 17: Big Bang is not chaotic.Thats the problem, not a lot of people understand what the big b@ng is all about. Neither do they know what the theory doesnt understand yet. Only 80 years ago or less, we discovered that our galaxy was 1 of billions in the universe. Before this, the univers was only our milkyway galaxy. look how far we've come now. With the discoveries and ongoing research at CERN, we'll only understand more. God will keep receding until he vanishes. God of the gaps indeed ![]() |
Enlightened1: Omg!!! Crazy shit going on here. How can folks in their right thinking sense say there is no God?? Now I know this surely is the end time. The bible says it is only the fool that says there is no God.do me a favour can? Go read about the Egyptian god Horus. Come back with your report |
fellis: They didn't leave it to symbolize the evil that had been. Prior to the migration you wrote of, Muhammed had tried to get the people of his tribe, the Quraysh, to remove all the idols in the Kaaba and dedicate it to the worship of Allah alone but they went against it. Muslims migrated to Medina because of the constant persecution and came back when they had a strong military force that had defeated the non-muslims.thank you for the correction man. I knew I mixed a few things up there ![]() |
buzugee: oh really ? lol my bad. you know inside that kabba is a fallen meteorite ? they think it was cast down to earth by God. thats why they worship it.That's not true mate, never heard anything like that before. I'm not a Muslim but even I know this one (the beauty of being an atheist lol). If my memory is good enough, the pagan gods of the very wealthy city that is today Mecca reside in that kabba (or around it) back in the early to late 6th century. and after Mohamed and his soldiers conquered the city they left it to symbolize the evil that has been. Keep in mind he lived in this city until his rich and influential uncle died and hence was at the risk of persecution by the people there so he fled to Medinah or some place near there (cant remember). Only to come back when his new religion had a strong foothold to take back the city. Please correct me if i'm mistaken, all this is from memory. Haven't researched in a while |
FXKing2012: atheism is dead and buried!well, that is your opinion. dunno why you make such a big deal out of it. No one has ever forced you to be one. That cannot be said about religion ![]() |
lilcutie8916: the bible sternly warns agains homosexualism then why will a church that cloaims to worship GOD practice it then where do dey get their doctrines from. And homosexualism is as punishable as furnication, adultry, stealing lying etc.the bible says so many things that dont make sense to our world today. So people tend to cherry pick what they want and ignore what they dont want. Thats the "beauty" of the bible lol |
skillet: haba. where are all the confused atheists? come out to play.you make me laugh. |
The devil has done nothing. Can you sit there and tell me you have never met a "girl boy" before? he walks talks and acts like a girl. basically a woman trapped in a man body (more than 90% if not all are gay) or even the other way around. Have you never seen that before? So then the devil created them? if they want to get married, what's the big deal? |
cyrexx: Or if i may add, actually trinity makes us believe that they are one. so whatever God d father did in the old testament, thats what Jesus did. He only came in flesh to change the approach he and his dad (which is actually him) had earlier. Hence changing the unchangeable god. lol ![]() |
davidylan: lol ok lets keep things straight here. the problem isnt my hardened heart (i think you're projecting your own problem to me)... but the fact that your mind is already made up on a false explanation. You made no attempt to interprete those scriptures and provide EVIDENCE for your claims... all you did was spew out a bunch of verses, put out a conclusion then cry foul if anyone disagrees with you? and you sit there on mount olympus preaching to the choir? Get real dude.1) False explanation?? are you serious with this? James 2: 20-24 "20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. " Clearly, this context is referring to having faith in the word (which is Jesus) as not the only way to achieve salvation. By talking about how Abraham served completely and let that manifest in what he did by almost killing his own son in the name of god. The only conclusion (which was even made in vs20 and 22) faith and works (which can only be translated into good deeds by faith) must go hand in hand for salvation. If we both then agree that the law of the land of Israel was given to them by god himself then this "work" by Abraham (which is obeying the word of God) is law? note this gap again before you conclude I refer to everything as contradicting Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. It is almost impossible to read this line out of context since it is actually a conclusion to a long narration that went on and on. Even in vs:20 it says the same thing "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight". How these two verses are not contradicting themselves to you I really do not know. one says work is important and the other says it isn't. Yet you have the courage to call me blind?? Typically you resort to insulting individual personalities rather than sticking to the topic under discussion. It happens with you all the time.. we all know davidylan ![]() 2) You are indeed funny mate! do you know who a bible scholar is? Not your pastor in church . They devote their lives to searching in depth meanings and back up with historical findings in original manuscripts. If they say contradiction, it is wise to have a second look 3) I'm only warning you that you are trying to fight a lost battle. You rush and stick your head out for something you were born into with hardly any clue how it came about. thumbs up for the thinking man!!! we probably need a new thread on contradictions only. lets see how you fare 4) Just because someone doesnt understand a maths book doesnt mean the book tells you ADDITION and SUBTRACTION are the same thing 5) If you haven't got anything to say then say nothing. |
skillet: mac, do u think if every body in those poor countries, rich or poor believed in one God that they wuld have problems? So then it is right for them to suffer since the believe in something else ? |
davidylan: Yawn. More ridiculous nonsense. That is the personal version i have and it says nothing different from what i quoted above.Absolutely not. you again call it lazy. It is pointless to go into your explanation in depth as you have hardened your heart to what you believe and will interpret the scripture to suit your point. There is really no need for me to battle it out with you. Numerous bible scholars agree that these are contradictions, you still say it isn't. what then is the point? There are sooooo many contradictions and for you to stay here and tell me otherwise makes it clear there's no point arguing with you mate! A word of God should be what it is "WORD OF GOD" No other interpretation can be possible from words of a GOD!! Since this isn't the case, why then do you read the bible different from any other book? If I gave you the Quran to read, How will you read it? |
at david. LOL. you have internet yes? Now read the 16th -17th century king James version of the bible for those verses I posted. ALL your explanation gets thrown out of the window . the two above are obviously similar. while the two below are saying the direct opposite. You can come here and tell me I'm lazy or not in the spirit. I really think that's a cheap shot! You see my good man, i strongly believe You are making a mistake. Listen, these texts have been modified over the years just to give folks like you credibility but it still cant The bible is plagued with contradictions and some are so heavy that no matter how they are modified (while trying to keep the original meaning) they still present contradictions. First of all it is important to ask you. Do you think the bible has been accurately preserved over the years and regenerated correctly?? If your answer is yes, My opinion is you need more research on the topic. If your answer is no then I put this second questions to you. Do errors made by scribes and textual variance significantly impact any teaching of Jesus or the entire Christian faith? We only have copies of copies of copies of copies of copies of copies ............ The earliest copy of Marks manuscripts (which is the earliest manuscript found) date back to around 0220. This is over 150 years after it was believed the original was written. There are soooo many things that only appeared in later manuscripts and are no where to be found in the earliest ones (which are copies too) Did Jesus really say "he without sin cast the first stone"? NO Did Jesus really say "neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more"? NO! Did Jesus really say "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creations. He who believes in me and is baptised will be saved but he who is not will be condemned"? No Did Jesus really say "These are the signs that will accompany those who believe. In my name they will cast out demons, they will speak in new tongues, they will pick up serpents and if they drink any deadly thing it will not harm them" No Does it matter that the idea of 1 John 5 : 7-8 to make them reflect the trinity only appeared in late manuscripts and not the earliests?? Does it matter that entire words, lines, paragraphs and pages were left out by some scribes? Does it matter that numerous places in the new testament, scholars cannot agree what the original texts said? Does it matter that there are places in the bible that we will never know what the original author wanted to say? DO ALL THESE MATTER?? If your answer is no, then carry on with your faith! nothing I can say here will make you think differently The word has been changed over the years (thousands at that) and one quote that makes so much sense by Prof Bart Erhman is "If the bible was inspired by God without error, why didn't he find it necessary to preserve the bible without error? If he then doesn't preserve the gospels without error, how can we then put our foot down to say he inspired it in the first place? |
davidylan: you should read it again... this time with some understanding.there is no other type of understanding when the bible says two different things about salvation. Not two similar things, Two DIFFERENT things here sport. let me help ya. Galatians 2:16 " know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ." Romans 3: 28 "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." Matthew 19:17 "And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments." James 2:24 " Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only" WELL WHICH IS IT?? ![]() Verily verily I say unto you, You cant read this any different. and no it is not out of context. 4 different places? damn confused scribes :-/ |
denzel2009: Is TB Joshua on 2go?fcking good question!!! how did he know about 2go. ![]() |
davidylan: and where is your strong argument for why you dont believe?you obviously miss my point with that statement. My claim is that there only exists a deeper philosophical reason why someone will believe in a god or not. Since all other evidence (or lack of it) has been turned upside down. I'm sure we have had a conversation along those lines before. I'm weary to engage you again mate. We'll just go round in circles with no conclusion. I have a life u know? |
actually I don't see much wrong there (if you are implying incest) because it is so many generations away
LOL.. that was a cheap shot. I agree . I was munching on my mac and cheese . Ok here goes.either way, it makes no sense that one will focus on the Mary's side the the other on Joseph. From my understanding, Jewish bloodline is through mothers. However, either way, one of the has to be flawed or copied from the other with "modification". My reason for saying this is simple. Either they focus on Joseph's lineage or Mary's. Not both. Since both authors know the Jewish tradition. Also, both men should follow similar trends of reasoning. ![]() I'm sure I've read a book by Dr Bart Erhman explaining this exact discrepancies and as much as my memory tells me he mentioned nothing about Mary. Will check it up soon and give u an indepth response |
FXKing2012: Eh-yah, what a lost soul. May u be found I pray.obviously you have nothing better to say. I guess its ok though. I'm not here to convert anyone. Just that there are only a handful of religionists who can put up a strong argument (a strong philosophical one) why they believe. |
truthislight: Thanks for the advice, i will always read the bible.By your claim, If Mary and Joseph's lineage trace back to David. Isn't something wrong there? ![]() |
FXKing2012: Jesus loves you and gave His life for u. Think about that!LoL. don't bother. I prolly was more evangelical than you in my days. My search and questioning opened up a whole new field of reason. Now I saved myself from the delusion that is god (Abraham's one to be precise). At one point, I held on to Christianity for the moral values we can learn from the bible. This fell apart when I read the bible from top to bottom. Morality is not a product of religion (this can be argued in so many different ways) I must confess though, the only inspiring part of the bible in my opinion is the Sermon Jesus gave on the mount. However, we can equate it to the golden rule. So that throws the whole point of the religion out of the window. I'm an agnostic and will only come back to religion when I see concrete evidence. In absence of that I'm sure I'll keep an open mind to everything else I'm sure Jesus would love me and you. But that doesn't prove he is god ![]() |
Delafruita: some bible translatos notably the NIV has removed mark 16:9-20 from their versions because it has been confirmed to be an addition that wasnt in the original text.LOL. spot on!!! they seem to be stuffed with the spirit when the blab nonsense. Even after their "great" leader Benny Hinn was exposed as a scam they just turn a blind eye and move to the next "inspiring" bible toting chum ![]() |
Delafruita: i have always wondered which is more confusing, the religion or its adherrents.the reasons for this arent far fetchedfunny thing is that the earliest Hebrew manuscripts dont have this in it. Suddenly we notice it in later texts in the mid 10th century. the entire 12 last verses in the book of mark appeared from no where (made up) Bunch of nonsense ![]() |
InesQor: 2go currently has about 15 million active users globally with at least 30% coming from Nigeria. i.e. at least 4.5 million users in Nigeria.great response. first thing that came to my mind was Barnum statements too. but you dealt with it well thumbs up |
someone talked about genealogy. I really dont see why either gospels have this. since Joseph isn't d father of Jesus and for d guy saying Luke was talking about Mary's Lineage?? Read your bible again |
FXKing2012: It's good to see all these atheists go dumb as a result of their inability to debunk my 5 arguments, I only hope they act smart and turn away fom their dark path toAre you serious?? you have just refused to read through them. Even if all of them aren't "conclusive" enough for you, you have to admit more than half of your "5 arguments" r based on flawed ideas. Which makes it pointless to even answer. It is important to note that a huge percentage of us were not born atheists. but I can bet, near 100% of you lot were born religious. Talk about being closed minded |
MacDaddy01: https://www.latrobefinancialmanagement.com/Pictures/Not_This_Bullshit_Again.jpgIt doesn't even have to be, that's the beauty of this stupid viral message. Any science professor that doesn't know that there is no such thing as "cold" should a) go back to school b) get d fck out of his role c) see "a". that makes the whole story bogus ![]() |
MacDaddy is right though. No one "invented" electricity. we just learnt how to harness it in different ways. Michael Faraday on the other hand contributed to the conversion of electric power to mechanical power in the form of a motor. Cant believe no one mentioned Sir Humphry Davy. If anyone person can be given the title "father of electricity" We need to think along the lines of Nikola Tesla or even Benjamin Franklin(the president) |
You cannot claim not to know the real intent because he story has been completed for you. The bible is the word of God simple. A mistranslation does not negate that fact. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant--not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:6
I hate to burst your bubble mate. But sadly it isn't. when we have additions and subtractions in it, then it simply isnt the word of God. It is important to note that when these texts were generated, we did not have a Xerox machine. everything was done by hand. one person copies, another person copies that copy , and a new person copies the copy of the copy, another person copies the copy of the copy of the copy.... Im sure you get where i'm going with this. Give you a small task to prove my point. get an exercise book or bunch of A4 sheets. take a Pen and copy the book of Genesis from chapter 1 to the end. when you are done, give someone else to proof read. see how many mistakes u make. Now compare that to when they didn't even have ball point pens and writing was done in feathers and ink. Fatigue and stress will surely creep in and cause mistakes. Even at that, Scribes often changed texts to suit what the perceive to be the real meaning of what the author is talking about and they even add to it. A good example is the Gospel of Mark. The earliest manuscript end that gospel at chapter 16 :8 with " And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid." NOTHING MORE! However with subsequent later manuscripts that have been translated, we then find the remaining 12 verses. where did it come from?? Well, the scribes agreed that the gospel should not end like that and they came up with things like drinking poison but wont die as well as speaking foreign languages. Another popular one is the story of Jesus and the adulterous woman in John chapter 7 and 8. This story is no where to be found in the early manuscripts but somehow surfaces in the 10th century in later Latin texts (which i dont need to remind you was translated from Greek) I don't know about you mate, but addition and subtraction doesnt sound like the word of "God" to me. im sorry btw I use King James version cos basically all others twist the meaning to make them more coherent and pretty much nonsense |
ghostofsparta: Another religionist apologist wannabe.even Kent Hovind explained this discrepancy with Noah's ark!.. have you ever choked laughing? I almost died that day ![]() They have no logical explanation for anything. I wonder why they always try to make sense of their religion when the only way that can be done is by faith. they should stick to blind faith and let us be ![]() |
Really a very interesting topic for debate. i think a very good quote that covers most of your query is "Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"... Epicurus around 62million ppl died in ww2 to be exact. but let us use todays terms. 9million children die every year from disease starvation and everything evil we can think of. why not do something for them! Yet someone "ask" for promotion in his work place then God readily "answers" that . what sort of priority is that? (please dont give me that mysterious way bullsh1t) keeping in mind that the quest for promotion is one in pursuit of wealth. and the bible quotes in Luke 6: 24 "But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation." You can easily say i'm cherry picking (or out of context LOL). Thats ur opinion ![]() |
