Politics › Re: Were People Right About Buhari? by AreaFada2: 1:49am On Aug 28, 2015 |
Afam4eva: Now coming to the purpose of this thread. Doesn't it make some of us look stupid when it seems like Buhari is inching closer to the person they painted him to be. I mean, some Buhari supporters will make statements like "I don't care where the person Buhari appoints comes from as long as he is capable". Of course, statements such as these make people to sleep well at night and not look like complete idiots in the presence of people who would say "Didn't i warn you?". Anybody with an iota of common sense would see that this present dispensation has been riddled with an increase of Northern elements and it is glaring even to the blind. How do you explain the fact that after almost 20 appointments made so far. Only less than 5 are from the south. Not even a single person from the South-East has been appointed to any position. I know Igbos are the group of people we love to hate but this just isn't fair in my opinion. If you want to defend Buhari's pattern of appointments, i think your best bet would be to tell us how Southern Nigeria are so corrupt that it will be hard to find men of integrity or how the North boast of more educated individuals who are unrivaled.
In the spirit of giving Buhari, the benefit of the doubt, my 1 years grace period is still counting. After then, i'll have something to say about his government. Ngwa-listic Afam Nwam, abeg wait for 365 days first. By then Tinubu & GMB fit don turn Tom & Jerry. But my friend face "Amelica" jare. Na there be your place na. People like me dey enjoy this chanji fa. Only those who expected something different will be disappointed. Another wasted 4 years ahead. Oh well, we have already wasted 55 years, what difference will it make. Just more cultists, armed robbers, rapists, more Boko victims, poorer schools, poorer health care and richer elite. You need no Nostradamus to see this. Ride on General, no alarm for cause. |

JAMANZE: Make sure you use this office to revert the injustice done to the Niger delta. 83% of our oil blocks to the north is not beans. yet poverty remains there and in buhari mind they are the only people with credibility to do the job yet they cant share their wealth Look my friend, 97%, 5% is not just inaccurate maths. It also has an inherent Buharinomic meaning. By 97%, the Northerners carry the day. SW that only marginally chose Buhari over GEJ is not far from 5% too. Yes. You will sooner see a unicorn than see a South-Southerner that has Southern interest at heart in Buhari's government. A Northerner selling lafinda along the road understands 9ja politics more than Cambridge educated Southerners. You don't chose someone that will fight for SS oil interest in a Northern dominated government. Divide & Rule Politics 101. |

Shymm3x: I'm sorry you have to start counting from when "democracy" started in Nigeria.
And nah, GEJ laid the Boko Haram landmine by himself to loot the country. Hence despite the billions of dollars he budgeted for security - the plonker never bought one decent 3rd generation fighter jet. Just take a look at the Nigerian military and how medieval the whole institution is, with poorly trained troops running around with obsolete hardware, despite the billions of dollars that disappeared into thin air.
You lot in the South had ya moment and you failed woefully. There's a new Sheriff in town - let him enjoy his moment. Hahaha. Oh boy, when did you leave 9ja or better you sabi 9ja history without googling at all? Balewa's govt and Shagari's govt were what? Demo-schizophreniary or what? |

Shymm3x: No, you have to start from the new republic in 1999. How many Northerners have ruled since 1999?
The same can be said about the South occupying top positions since 1999 with little or nothing to show for it. Heck, GEJ just finished his tenure with his Igbo lieutenants - what do both the South South and South East have to show for it? - absolutely nothing. The communities in the South South are still dirt poor, with oil spillage everywhere. While South East couldn't even get him to build them one bridge...and Kano built something far more expensive during the same period. Ditto Lagos.
The handwriting has always been on the wall and you can't fault him for doing what's synonymous with the average Nigerian. GEJ had his time and it was nepotism everywhere. So how are they different from each other?
At the end of the day, he never promised a pan-Nigerian appointment - he only promised good governance and fighting corruption. How about leave him to do that, with his team? 3/4 of the South didn't even vote for him apart from the Yorubas...so the folks crying on this thread are just being malignant for no reason. The Yorubas who voted for him and should be the ones complaining aren't. Let the old man be - he's just playing the game based on how fundamentally flawed the country is.
Yes, the South has similar technocrats - but what have they achieved? Absolutely nothing. Starting from 1999 would be selective amnesia. Sure, OBJ & GEJ blew their chances to some extent. But 40 years of decay cannot be fixed in a jiffy. GEJ literally had Boko landmine to grapple with almost all through. Anyway, our talk here will solve nothing. 4 years is not that long. After 55 years of nightmare, 4 years should be a doddle. |
Politics › Re: Buhari Appoints Secretary To The Federal Government, Chief Of Staff, Others by AreaFada2: 8:02pm On Aug 27, 2015 |
Shymm3x: I can't even see any mistrust here - the man is just a typical Nigerian. What you lot need to understand is that Nigeria is more or less a Northern protectorate, with the South as an appendage. Hence about 70/80% of the landmass is in the North. And the country is also fundamentally divided across tribal lines, despite the ignorance most obtuse Nigerians feign - due to illiteracy and pseudo-intellectualism cum faux-exposure.
GEJ did the same despite coming from a region that doesn't even occupy 5% of the landmass. And the man is only returning the favour. If you don't like his administration - you can always vote him out in 4 years' time, if your votes will actually count against the Northern votes.
Anyway, just suck it in...he never promised geopolitical appointments and he's still on track to fulfill his promises, albeit as slow as a snail in the process, with nothing to show for it right now. Judge him after four years.
I like this guy right here:
Alhaji Abba Kyari, the new Chief of Staff to the President holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Cambridge and the University of Warwick in Law and Sociology.
^^^True definition of a technocrat. But you cannot compare it like that. The North including Buhari have ruled the country for very long. Occupying top positions with little to show for it. I was excited by GMB's first coming with street party and all. He was ethnocentric and he failed. I cannot be fooled twice. I hope you don't suggest that the South has no similar or better technocrats. Because I know a few myself. Back in May I said SGF will be a Muslim, who can even follow him to Friday prayers and really be around most times. Fashola fits the bill, like many others of course. I never supported Buhari but he's president and that's fine. |

As 4 the Fashola saga,i don't knw if i'll belive u on dat because all i see is a mere speculation. You may be right. In the South, we are selfish and egoistic enough to shoot ourselves in the foot, tear ourselves apart, wash our dirty linen in the public without any instigation from the North. To their delight. |

doctokwus: Surprises all round. PMB is quite unpredictable and is really hellbent on not having corrupt, tainted elements in his govt Well done and may God continue guiding him. Only a fool didn't see it coming. Buhari's mistrust for Southerners continues. We saw it in his persecution of Southern politicians, even those as white as snow including Ajasin & Ekwueme. Maybe the Southern elite deserve it though. People who could betray fellow Southerners like Awo, Abiola and recently GEJ should not be trusted unconditionally. Overall I have no issues with it. Pius Anyim & Oghiadomhe began with GEJ too. Only that Fashola would have deserved SGF position. |

olrotimi: You see Nigerians are such a funny set of people. Everyone is pleading the blood of Jesus and saying all manner of prayers like those who died didn't pray before they began the journey. You see its such a shame that we always run from our problems and shy from our civic responsibilities. In a democracratic setting, we should be seen to demand accountability from our leaders and not necessarily increase our prayers. We have a state governor through whose state that road crosses, who has been more like a party spokesperson. chasing the shadows of the opposition party. Yes it's a federal road but who says the state cannot do the needful? Again we have a President who is more interested in hounding criminals rather than put in place the necessary structures of governance. Yet some sycophants would come on with well rehearsed cliches like. "in Buhari I trust ", really? trading human lives for a 'feel good system '? Nigeria we hail thee, there indeed was a country. Gbam! In 9ja no truth, only politics of no benefit to the masses. We live on hope like cowards instead of taking well planned actions to improve things. RIP to the victims of our collective negligence and lack of courage. |

I was coming out of a revolving door at work to go quickly to the opposite building. This woman rushed in with her daughter like a mad woman and nearly pushed me down. I looked at her surprised, she looked at me angrily mumbling what seemed like insult. Anyway, I continued my mission with my black behind o. About 30 minutes later I called a name in the outpatient waiting area and this lady and her daughter appeared from one corner. I could see the surprise in her face. Her child was on my list and not the professor's. She later apologised profusely but I wasn't impressed. If I was just another menial worker, the chance to apologise would never have come. |

Romance › Re: 7 Silly Characters In Guys That Can Turn A Lady Off by AreaFada2: 3:05pm On Aug 25, 2015 |
SmartMugu: I bet the girl you're talking about is not a Nigerian girl. I said that because to me, it's kinda weird how most Nigerian girls think and act. I guess I'm just not feeling all that forming anymore. If you know you want something, why not take it when the mood is right? Why the forming? One once told me I have to meet with her mom and dad before we can go out on a date. I obliged, got to their home in Lagos and the whole family came out, and the dad was like "welcome my son, how was ur flight?" I'm like what's happening here? Is this an introduction? I only came to take her out on a date.
Their style is just weird to me, especially when I've seen girls from all over the world and love how freaky they are, why waste time on some long thing? Some can't even hold a conversation when you take them out on dates. The most boring dates I've had were with Nigerian women. Not saying all of them are like that, may be I just met the wrong ones. Lol. It was a Caucasian lady. As for 9ja ladies before you say Jack Robinson, they have already said they want marriage. They forget that the impression that gives is that they want someone to put all their liability on his head. It shows desperation and nothing puts any man off quicker than that. If every man that had sex with you was going to marry you, why are you still single?? A man pays all the bills when you go on a date, you never even volunteer to go Dutch and let the man refuse and you want marriage on top. Logically, you will also never contribute much to the marriage except open legs and maybe house chores. Many 9ja babes believe only a poor guy expect financial contribution from his wife, but in many countries, many wives now earn more than their husbands and pay more towards living expenses. When those foreign babes talk of equal rights, 9ja woman parrots them but forgets the responsibility part of it. Luckily some 9ja ladies are now changing their attitude towards family finance. |
