His university is consistently ranked in top 20 of World Universities league table.

Prof Obafunwa might have an MD (medical version of PhD) or Master of Surgery/MS (surgical version of PhD in UK education system).

For a doctor, clinical fellowships like FRCP, FRCS count for a lot and can take you to very high positions. They are very rigorous examinations needed to achieve them.

Previously, you could even get your MD (PhD) with only 2 years of research, if already an experienced medic.
