Some of you just flow with the current without knowing what started it.

In other words, you want to say the hackneyed opinion that he gagged the press.
Do you know what led to that sort of reaction towards some set of the press?
It's because Buhari went hard against drug couriers whom some elements in the military alongside MKO backed...and after, much warning, he resorted to capital punishment to scare them stiff.
Some people weren't happy. MKO wasn't happy. And you know he had a good influence over the western media which set the tone of discourse then. And the press attacked whom the controlled paid editors felt should be attacked.

On your "he jailed southerners and left northerners"

Its time to clear your heart of bias-
There are facts you may not know- As a civilian vice president, ekwueme somehow mysteriously built a brewery in his naative town of oko, ursurped money from his office and built the MODOTEL chain of hotels in the east.
Now, these begged for investigation.
And these, amongst others was why he was locked up.

Ambrose Ali, Aper Aku and Pa Ajasin were not entirely innocent.
They used up money from their office to fund their parties. Wrong.
I must admit, they didn't use the monies for themselves.

Did you know that Mohammed Goni was jailed too?
He ws from the north.
You remember Taatari Ali? He was jailed too.
And Barkin Zuwo?

Plssss. You guys need to read more or ask the older folks more questions than coming up here to spew uninformed biased lines.
SMH.
What you may not know is that Barkin Zuwo was an ethnic Nupe migrant in Kano.
You also may not know that it was removal of some local rulers/Emirs in Kano State that Rimi had previously installed that he was punished for. Otherwise the 3.4 million found in his house would have been covered up like many others were covered up.

You also seem not to know that Taatari Ali's problem with Buhari began long before the 1983 coup, in fact before 1979 when he became governor. It was in the early to mid-1970s. Do you know what Ali's job was then? If you know history as you claim, you should know it by heart.

Ali expanded agriculture and others in Bauchi immensely. That govt officials were not efficient managing them were teething problems that subsequent privatisation could have solved.

Those things you read in history are mostly polished. I witnessed it. Got the facts fresh and hot then. A close relative was a top journalist who was uncovering Buhari's motives for his selective injustice. Of course he got harrassed and dismissed from job. Other brave journalists were imprisoned or fled abroad.
Karma being a bi.tch, Babangida imprisoned Buhari near the childhood home of my relative that he had sacked from work.
Buhari was a feudalistic bigot and remains one.

FYI, I even briefly met Buhari when he was head of state. Did you?? grin

I hope you've your facts tight as you spew-

I know about essenco( the essential commodities that were shared amongst workers) people queued more to get them under shagari than in Buhari's regime.

The queue was largely symptomatic of corruption in the civil service which Buhari toiled to wipe out and got his bad name for doing so.

The job losses u talked about was as a result of the near ban on the culture of importation.
That's the initial knee jerk reaction you find in the economy as it gradually adapts.
Sadly, our people were too pampered to make such sacrifice then.
Buhari encouraged agriculture and the export of its goods in his time.
Lol, you mean that the job losses from closing Radio Nigeria branches in several state capitals was due to banning import? When govt critics working in broadcasting were targeted for sacking was also due to prohibition of imports? Lol.

Buhari did not get bad name for fighting corruption. It was the biased and bigoted way he went about it, jailing Christians/Southerners like Pa Ajasin, Dr Ekwueme, Aper Aku, Prof. Ali, Bola Ige, Jakande. Almost all with nothing against them. Shagari was in an Ikoyi mansion. No single Hausa Fulani was jailed.
Remember "driver get accident, conductor get punishment" song by Fela?

In any case, a coupist who committed high treason (an offence punishable with death penalty) against his country by overthrowing a civilian govt has no name to protect.

Crating of Dr Dikko was over a personal grudge that every knows about: (1) tracing 2.8 billion that Buhari stole as oil minister to a London account. (2) Dikko suspecting Buhari as a coup threat pressured Shagari to "exile" Buhari to Jos as GOC, far away from Lagos & Ibadan key military commands.

People who took up farming were sacked civil servants, some were level 12, 14 with 8 kids to feed. They had no choice. I saw it happen.

Essenco was mostly 1984 to 1986.

Are you an airhead?

I guess you're a teenager.

Ok. GMB for one, made sure the naira wasn't devalued as a president.
Naira ws strong and was like $1-N2naira.

He built a refinery.

He increased local exports and tried to shift the economy away from oil dependence.

He rejected the IMF loan.
A move that could have killed the economy.
IBB later took the loan and the naira plummeted.

He did much of these within a year!

For more, try and read your history books.
Which refinery? Forget that nostalgia. 9ja was giving crude oil to Brazil to refine and buy back.

Maybe you didn't witness his regime. Nigeria was a pariah state.

Shifted dependence from oil to what exactly? Services, financial sector or Agric?

By the time Buhari was kicked out, economy had stagnated. Maybe you didn't queue up for essenco, so you won't know.

Sacking civil servants and cancelling projects brought poverty to lots of people.

Even if Jonathan gives everyone 200k a month, with breakfast in bed daily, some would say he has done nothing.

You know we like inhumane treatment & suffer head in that country. GEJ has been too civilised and things have been fairly good.

Let them vote in Buhari, who will cancel ongoing projects (just like Lagos Metro Line) and sell govt assets to Tinubu & cronies.

Funny thing is, girls claim it's men who like sex.

They forget women get more opportunities for sex.

A guy has to actively pursue girls, sweet talk, entertain, spend (in most cases), do all the hardwork and so on.

Whereas a lady of average beauty will have at least one guy every week chatting her up.

.

While being frugal is good in government, a country like Nigeria with decayed or non-existent infrastructure clearly needed & needs investment, upgrade, improvement, whatever.

In criticising GEJ's money management/investment in capital projects, he should have focused on whether we got value for our money. With facts and analogies from all over the world. To condemn the investments in favour of saving is epic fail.

How can one condemn building new Fed universities when some Nigerians are paying huge tuition fees studying in Ghana, some of the schools housed in portakabins?
Or the airports that were falling apart? Or railway?

Failure to invest over 40 years is what prompted GEJ's spending.

Why this open pro-APC/Buhari bias?

Who is afraid of verifiable truth?

Is this not an attempt to give advantage to APC like Jega is doing with targeted non-distribution of PVC to pro-GEJ areas?

Do we the people who make NAIRALAND whatever it is be denied simple truth that many of us even witnessed years back?

Seun, if you were GEJ, would you have signed FOI bill?

There is something we must all realise. Manipulating the public to achieve a certain outcome is unpatriotic & a huge disservice to Nigeria and unborn generations.

It doesn't matter who wins as long as IT IS THE WILL OF MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE IF GENUINELY FREE & FAIR. If everyone had the chance to vote.

Do you have to be an Ogun native?
How fast is the application process?
Which part of Ogun are lands allocated?
Can you handle the process?

More questions from me:

Suppose you have just recently registered an Agribiz company, you don't yet have 3 years tax certificate, how will that affect the process?

And the account details/statement, is that meant to indicate your financial firepower?

Thanks.

9ja needs to start functioning on merit, not god-fatherism, tribe, quota system or long leg.

When people who merit positions get them and they are encouraged to flourish, they will have motivation to work well.

Which other people reject their culture wholesale like Africans? Or you think wearing buba & eating elubo is the end of culture?

As for freedom of expression at home, it depends on family & social setting. I knew when to talk and frankly as a single son at home, I chatted with dad like a chum. Of course, sometimes to his chagrin, I questioned many traditional stories he told me. In fact from the age of about 11, that was the case.
I began to write down those stories around the age of 12. That gave more leeway to ask probing questions about legendary stuff.

Some of these born again people believe our traditions don't matter. They pretend as Christians but in fact uphold no Christian values. They are everywhere around us.

Is it news to you that modern miracle & wealth-seeking Christianity is a joke?

Anyway, fake Christianity is expected before the conclusion of things.

I smile in swahili for that comment . . . the woman commits adultery will make the man feel like he is dead? that is for a man that got it twisted . . . . I am still laffing so hard.
.

The problem is we look down on our tradition. Luckily enough it's all there for anyone curious enough to know.

It doesn't make him feel dead, it KILLS him. There is a case going on right now. A young man suddenly got seriously ill on returning from visiting his wife in 9ja.

Even the best medical docs in Europe can find no reason for his illness. Meanwhile he's in hospital for months now. I have gone to see him and examined him too. All parameters seem ok. But he can't eat or get up from bed.

The wife, a Christian never believed when her in-laws warned her about her suspicious ways.
She thought she could mess around anyhow, under guise of born again.

Let me tell you how they say it works. It's not magun style.

A woman commits adultery. The man is safe if she doesn't cook for the man or sleep with him. That is, no wifely role towards him. If she does, problem.

Look, I spent over a decade having clinical evidence & empiricism drilled into my head. But there are things we see that confound science. One can believe it or leave it.

What happens here is what happens abroad.

Woman works with man to build a life, marries him poor, invests her money her youth her energy. Man hits it big, she suddenly isn't good enough, he throws her out and marries younger lover, she has nothing, old and tired she watches a younger woman enjoy the fruits of her labor and dies in misery and heart break.

Abroad, man hustles for years, makes enough money goes home picks a young " submissive" bride. They go abroad she sees the system goes crazy, kicks him out she doesn't need him, she earns a lot more, gets younger man, he is out in the cold, everything he works for gone with the wind, he is starting all over at 60 while pne young man is enjoying all he worked for all his life.

Its the same situation only difference is we hardly see headlines of " increase in rates of wives murdering their husband's " down here while the second one has loads of reports with people applauding and defending it
Well, in 9ja, there are many ways to go about killing a husband. In some cases, commit adultery that is a taboo and that kills the man. Some people may scoff at it but it is true is some part of 9ja like Edo. In certain places a wife's adultery is a killer.

Babalawo is probably the most common. The man is dead before you know it.

Then you have hired killers 10 for 2 kobo all over 9ja.

So yes, some women do kill their men in 9ja only not with horror film style shooting or stabbing.

But why did the men marry such women? and if the women are so evil why not divorce them?

Seeing as a woman can break a man he should do his due diligence to marry a woman who is good for him and become the kind of man who can command respect from his wife so that the children can learn how to respect themselves and others.
.

I do not exonerate men who kill their spouses.

But as a woman, you should know how some women can pretend to get what they want: go to the West. In the belief things are rosy there. Even if you warn them things are not rosy.

How can you tell the heart of anybody? You can only go on what a lady tells you.

Some young women open their legs for very old or dirty guys to get money, iPhone, you name it.
