@ Calamama, We're simply confused. We cannot help copying others and the expense of our own rich culture. If you see how uneasy the PH participants look, it is clear they have no idea what it's all about. Somebody in govt wanted a carnival and he/she got one. If I really wanted to see a carnival, I'd go to Rio DJ or Caribbean. I'd rather go and see Argungu, Igue, Eyo, Durbar and many other display our rich cultures than these copycat ones. By the way, oversea tourists will probably do same. |
waleco, do you want to sell this car at all? All this your "still available "without answering questions don't help. It is a buyer's market you know. You want people to call when you can answer simple questions and let people decide if they want the car or not. To be frank most of our people lack business acumen. |
Hi Waleco, will it fly for 180K? The broken rear light will have to be replaced you see. Any electrical or mechanical problems? Is it still registered? Any possibility of taking it to Benin-City for me? |
It is sadly quite common. A number of friends have told me how such happened to them too. Usually between age of 10 and 14 and the women usually from early 20s to 40s. It is actually statutory violation. It can forever affect how those boys relate to women. For example they too can become rapists (not saying the must or will always become) because they can develop this belief that women are basically out there just looking for sex. Sadly, many people in our society don't believe that a boy or male person can be violated since men/boys are gagging for sex. Women despoilers 99% of the time go unpunished. |

You're right Osaradon, I was put off those Mowe-Ofada estates after NL lawyer's expose. When I finally decided for one behind MFM, the guy just added 250k on top of what was already agreed under the guise of processing more document (he wanted to do C of O for all the plots he had there) and make it a mini-estate. I didn't want that so I withdrew. Whereabout in Lagos-Ibadan express is yours? I have been taking a look at Ikorodu for some time. But prices keep shooting up. |
Vito, Seeing these pictures, it's quite a neat job. You're going for quality. I was at a friend's site when I was home recently, he used kalo kalo for his bungalow foundation. The builder said some even use it for storey building if it's just one floor on top, although I wouldn't do that myself. |
Vito, Ogbefi, Osarodon, Sweet and all others contributing to this thread, thank you all. More greeze to your elbows! I don't know how I managed to miss this thread till now having keenly followed Spyder, Am Alone, Brabus and Co. While those were very useful, they were about the East, Ogun, Lagos and so on. Refreshing to see a Benin building reality. I have been dragging my feet for months about starting something. Like Osarodon I have changed my mind many times what to start. Even 2 flats only years back sucked so much money out of me that it has been daunting/scary to go there again. Of course being away from home doesn't make it cheaper. Me & Mrs have now settled for 4 flats (2 up, 2 down), though I was inclined to go for a duplex or a bungalow similar to Vito's but Mrs reckons that profitability of 4 flats is potentially better since we're not retiring to Naija just yet. We're tentatively targeting finishing by mid-2013 or Easter 2013 if possible. Amen. We have 100 x 200 off Sapele Road. It has just been cleared. We're going to take it slowly. Visiting home recently, people on N70k per month (supplemented by egunje in some cases) are building houses. I don't know how they do it. So no need to be daunted. One thing is sure, it's a very good feeling when you've finally done it. |
My top 3: (1) Big Smiles Charity Org. (2) The e-helpers Charity (TeHcharity.whatever, yes why not a new one?) (3) All Seasons Guys, let's sort this name thing out soon and get on with it. |

watching this thread. Come on NLers. |
The most abnormal thing there is. Only pervs do that. ![]() |
give details and picture, and location. |
HSL, The estate gan that's showing in the picture, are you also involved in marketing it? The 1.2m/acre land you are advertising, how far is it from the tarred road? any picture of the land itself? Is it a thick virgin forest with massive trees? What titles has the land got? |
My fellow NLers, Wonders shall never end oo. Only in Naija. Shocked senators looked on as Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr. Austin Oniwon, failed to provide details of the buyer of 65, 000 barrels of crude oil out of an official allocation of 445, 000 barrels per day. Obviously the NNPC GMD is too busy doing more important things (what exactly I don't know) to bother about knowing things like the daily output of our major refineries that he had to consullts aids first. Also something like how many litres of petrol come from 1 barrel of crude oil is immaterial to him. He doesn't even know who buys 65,000 barrels (nearly N10 bllion} daily from NNPC. Well, if you're too busy sharing money daily, why must you bother about such "irrelevant" information above. God help us ooo. Which way Nigeria? See link below. http://odili.net/news/source/2011/dec/13/514.html |
r231:r123, Great job especially regarding Mr Obuh. Kudos to Ify, Olowo and others. But I think you should have made the positions more open. Referring to some people as fringe NL members is not helpful. We don't want to alienate people. I think the process of appointing people should be more democratic than someone just nominating others. Is it paddy paddy affair? We are taliking of Nigerians + internet+ money, so many silent NL visitors will be skeptical. So true openess is crucial. Take Gboliwe (a physically challenged accountancy graduate if my memory serves me right) for example. He expressed interest but was overlooked. For being a member for less than 4 years? We need people like him to give us a new perspective. Physically challenged people are disproportiately disadvantaged in our society. I was a regular NL visitor for over 2 years before I became a member less than 2 years ago, |

Does it have AC? Which year was it built? |
Olalekan, Being able to take care of your family financially etc is part of maturity not just age. Also those women who cheat only hide behind poverty because they themselve cannot anything to the table. |
Happy marriage needs many things: maturity, luck, good social support and don't forget that a happy marriage doesn't happen randomly: it is ordained by Daddy God. Age is important in the sense that we learn from experience (hopefully) and can make better decisions from experience. On the other hand some people appear to be a magnet for bad lovers, so age doesn't change that. Is it just bad luck or misplaced priorities when looking for a partner? So Poster: only you can judge your own maturity and readiness for marriage now. If there are more cons (including money matter) than pros then you may want to think hard before getting married. I presume of course you're over 18 years old. are your done with ur studies, trade learning? Earn enough money to look after family? @odunnu: In the days of your grandma, women didn't expect much BUT now it's different, people now demand things that they are not even capable of bringing to the table in first place. Overall marriage is a marathon, not a sprint. One cannot declare his/her marriage a resounding success until many decades into it. Life has a way of throwing up surprises. A "loving" husband may currently be raising another family in another part of town that people will not know for many years to come. I saw it koro koro with my eyes before. I married late and i think it was the right thing for me. I had time to chop life first, now i don't feel I missed out on anything. Now family man all the way. |

Hello NLers, I need a good 4-door car for an elderly relative/uncle to use within a city and go to the village about 2 weekends a month. His car has given up the ghost. He's retired. The village is only about 25km away from town with very good tarred road. I told him to wait till around Easter 2012 when I will be able to spare about 500-600k and buy him a fairly decent car but he said at his age, everyday that breaks is a blessing (meaning the sooner the better). He said he doesn't mind if it's 20 or 25yrs old. As man just return from Gidi, owo no gum person wella right now. So my dear home-based NLers other others, advice on which car for this elderly gentleman. Post pictures of what you have for sale, general condition, if registered or not, if you are a private seller or car dealer/agent, location, price, year built, km stand, fuel type and gear type. How about: Mercedes 200 or 230E 1985-94 model? Email: manoman20112012@yahoo.com Mercedes 190? Nissan Sunny 1.6? Toyota Corrola or Camry? Nssan Quest? Toyota Previa? Email :manoman20112012@yahoo.com |
