Breezy147, Don't forget that Nigerians abroad are not insulated from Naija woes. |
Very interesting. Any update since December on the budget house? What materials are you using? Sand bags? Is there electricity in the neighbourhood? Maybe you could also try doing 2-bedroom with living room etc on 100 X 50 for around 1.1million or thereabout. That could house a family of 4 on low income. We need ideas to help low income people. Let's see how you're getting on. |

Ever since a school mate (who spoke the loudest in tongues in scripture union meetings) took my answer sheet to copy my WAEC physics practical readings) as I looked away to setup an apparatus, I have become highly skeptical about tongues speakers. Needless to say that he faild the paper. That's approacing 3 decades now. Odikwa risky. Anyway what do I know kwanu. |
Having looked at your 1st post, I couldn't see the meaning of unbuildable. Does it mean it is not curently earmarked for development but will in the future? If so how do we know? you can also send detals to: pithasmen@yahoo.com |

@goshen360, Livestock farming is good. Relatives doing it small scale are earning as much as they earn in their mid-level banking and insurance jobs annually. It all began more or less as a hobby. Poultry, grass-cutter and fishery also don't require acres of land. Please Goshen, I would like some tips on grass-cuttery. Unfortunately I am too far away to visit your Badagry farm. Email: pithasmen@yahoo.com A relative had large scale oil palm, plantain, rice farms and poultry in the 80s (palm farm still functional) but there were lots of hardworking Ghanian labourers living on the farm then. Labour is big challenge these days. I also remember the menace of weaver birds then hammering the rice field. lol. |
What's the mileage? Which year was it built? Please give above info as I can send someone in Benin to check it out. Will 120k fly it? |
@ McLatunji, Seun idea seconded. At least Seun will know how to "select" better moderators/leaders than the efulefu that INEC mostly throws up every 4 years. |
Ikengawo, With Liberia & Algeria, Nigeria is in good company in deed. War & extremism/wasted oil resources. Lol. |
Is there anything we copy from the West that we do properly? At least ladies who wear buba & wrapper don't appear tacky. But then buba & wrapper is too "primitive" for oyinbo wannabees. If those rainbow shorts are disgusting, what of the weave-on some wear like looks like palmtree? |
Will the car fly for 290K? |

are these plots sill available? |
Can it fly for 285K? |
ifyalways:nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Ify, you will be surprised the reason they do it as they claim is becauase "everybody else is doing it like that now". If something in a particular place/tribe or whatever has become standard behaviour/expectation, it sounds pretty much like comtemporary culture to me. Don't forget culture evolves. I don't like the direction of evolution of some of our culture (too much extravagance). It would be purely family problem if only siblings are involved. Family involves all the extended relatives of the clan who suddenly become important as soon as someone dies. But then it may be diffrent in your culture. They'll face the perceived "well-off" citing other funerals in the clan where the doctor in the US or bisinessman in Lagos or the politician in Abuja singlehandly sponsored the lavish funeral on behalf of his siblings. No be small thing. |

@ Ify About lavish burial & force or no force, with due respect my sister, pressure from siblings to do it big can be more than force oo. I know what I am talking about. You won't know if you haven't experienced it. Naija have different cultures and varies from place to place. Threat from family members to abandon the corpse for you if you don't step up. You can say make them abandon am na, I go just bury by myself. But it's not funny if you are the one perceived as the most well off child. Even how many cows to slaughter and how many dance bands to invite all can be source of family argument. Top of my list of what to abandon is lavish funeral under pressure. Even if crayfish or okpoloko was all I could afford while parent is alive for her to cook soup, it means a thousand times more to me than killing 4 or 5 cows for strangers to eat at burial. The next is irresponsible elders stifling the voice and ideas of younger ones in the name of respect. Seeing and daughter-in-law as an outsider instead of a sister/daughter-in-law. Remember son/daughter in law is a western concept, the educared classes my see it as such but traditionally the new bride is "wife" of the whole family as expected to be a servant. |
@rhemal, are you still not in town to post pics of engine and interior and say which year/model it is? |

Your explanation is textbook stuff. If you're not a medical person, then have certainly done a good research! I live away from Naija and it is exactly how it's done here, just like you explained but I don't know how it is at home, since only a few years back UBTH didn't have Assisted Reproduction unit. As for donor fluid, she doesn't need it (her man has fathered a child recently). But a friend in Lagos might do. But he's so deeply pentecostal that broaching such an idea to him might seem like lack of faith. lol. His former wife left after 6 yrs or so of marriage. I learnt she now has a baby. He has remarried since a few years now, still no baby. Thanks very much for the price breakdown. She (relation) did all the scans years back (but new ones will be needed of course) but never followed up the medical aspect fully. It's always go to this pastor or another. Faith without work is nothing. I tire my sister. But I cannot be tired. I even discussed surrogacy (out my own despiration to help before too late) with her but also not fully co-operative. Thanks for your help. |
