Exactly what did his people benefited from his party and his leadership position after 16 years in office even till this very second.
Was the federal government responsible for his inability and abdication of responsibility when other people in his presence took away $12 billion project from his people.?
Sadly, leaders and followers in that region drink from the same bigoted and polluted well.. |

LordAdam: You just had to type a long-winded reply to reiterate what I've said before. Don't try to come for my jugular, I've drowned yours in a sewage pipe.
About the first bolded statement, I'd ask you a simple question: What percentage of FG roads are tolled? The vast majority of FG roads are free to use, so the default position to take when an FG road project is announced is that it will be free, UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED. Initial reports made no mention of tolling as I explained to slydog, so until they do, it is fair to say that it would be free to use. I did not reiterate any of you pointless and absurd views. The fact that majority or no majority FG roads are tolled or not doesn't mean any in the China funded projects are going to be tolled or not tolled hence allowing the government to articulate on the subject. Unless otherwise stated or not stated is still not any reason to assume anything. It is not fair to assume anything, assumptions kills.. About the second bolded statement, why the blazing f***k did you have to quote me when you were simply going to make roughly the same point I was making. You used the words "loan payments," meaning the government would pay them back. Which is exactly what I have been saying from the start. The government paying back and and China collecting tolls from Nigerians are 2 different things.. We collect and pay them out of what we collect. We did not make the same point, you said China will collect money from Nigerians and I corrected, because the only thing China is due for is scheduled loan payments and not our tolled money. The state metro agency is responsible for toll collection and out of that I don't you to lecture me on how they will be paid or the legitimate agency that would levy Nigerians. The simple fact that even an artisan would understand is that China built a rail for us on loan and they would take our fares as payment+interest for the loan. You and I do not know how much interest is on that loan or if the Chinese are partners who would continue making profits from that venture until Jesus comes. The government paying back and and China collecting tolls from Nigerians are 2 different things.. We collect and pay them out of what we collect. Don't lecture me about policing other peoples opinion. You don't type sh*t because you have access to an internet-enabled device (phone, tablet, or PC) and then call up the blanket "I have a right". What he said was illogical straight up. If you don't have the guts to call it out, I do. You don't need pinpoint detail and analysis to make a valid, logical point like I have with this reply and hundreds more on NL.
I make a clear distinction most times when what I'm saying is a personal (subjective) opinion and when it is an objective logical point. Don't mix the two. Well you already have. So I should be saying, get your head off your ass and smell the coffee. Very laughable especially coming from your assumptions and opinion riddled posts.. You really are a waste of time.. |

That is not what they are telling you. They see what you all don't want to acknowledge. The mentality of Nigerians cannot make it work because of corruption. It does not matter what great policies you put in place, corruption will destroy it. Just because western economies do it and it works for them, does not mean it will work for Nigeria. The fact that we've experienced bad leadership and corruption in the past doesn't mean we can not move away from it or stop it. The fact that past politicians like the last PDP admin stole $20 billion power funds and left us in Until PMB, corrupt people walk away with their loot and never charged with anything, but not today, many are on trial for corruption even the number 3 Nigerian official. We are already winning simply because we are not bleeding because of corruption like a little over a year ago, our funds agencies used to pocket of divert now goes into our federal account, TSA is over N3 trillion in savings. This time last year, we did not have N3 trillion Things are changing and it's obvious even thought for obvious political reasons, tribalism or bigotry many of you can not see it which I do understand. For example. The western world has refineries. So does Nigeria. Do the ones in Nigeria function? Nigeria has roads. So does the western world. Are the roads in Nigeria pliable? The western world has power generating means. So does Nigeria. When last did you have 24hr uninterrupted power supply? Nigerians have good ideas but lack the knowledge, will, or virtue to make anything worthwhile work. Corruption is the bane of the country The fact that we've experienced incompetency and people letting our infrastructures rot and decay doesn't mean we can not change our bad ways and in fact, our refineries are coming back to life as we speak. The fact that past leaders and the last PDP admin stole $20 billion power funds doesn't mean we can not move away from all that or do better. A new 300MW solar power plant is part of the President's China deal. Yes, other leaders crippled us, but other leaders are now rescuing us. Your doom and gloom negativity about you own country doesn't alter the fact that we are progressing and making changes. Your backward views is not our current realities.. |

Johnrake69: The writer left some questions unanswered...eg. Why was the swap not signed with the people's bank of China, like other countries did? The only thing the writer left out which I don't think was intentional was the fact that both PBOC and ICBC are owned by the Chinese Government. PBOC is their Central Bank while the also have 4 other banks like the Agricultural Bank of China dealing with Agric lending and infrastructures, China Construction Bank dealing with general construction and so on. We are dealing with the ICBC because it's an investment Bank. They issue loans and invest in infrastructures. The ICBC loaned $400 million towards the completion of the 1,870 MW Gibe III dam in Ethiopia hence engaging them to fund our rail system and other projects.. It makes little or no difference, they are both owned by the Chinese government.. |

LordAdam:
The presidency said nothing of tolling about the greenfield expressway- You have zero idea per what's going to be tolled or not until it's built and the government comes out with policy statements on the projects and how to pay for them.. Stop assuming based on what's not set in stone at the moment.. http://www.channelstv.com/2016/04/15/buharis-china-visit-yields-billions-in-investment-for-nigeria-presidency/. About the Lagos Metro line, I wonder if you were one of the negotiators to know that the government would not repay a dime, but the Chinese would collect money from Nigerians to use the train (for how long, until what amount is reached, which percentage goes to the government afterwards). China is not collecting tolls, they are funding the project and they get back loan payments based on whatever agreed upon payments and payment schedule, the state's Metro Rail governing authority is tasked with toll collection. The Metro Rail system can pay off the loan in little or no time based on the number of potential passengers available in Lagos state. We are talking about hundreds of thousands of passengers or even millions daily. Multiply average ticket of N300 by at least 500,000 per day x per month. That's billions per day and several billions per month. So please tell us how hard it's going to be to service or pay off this loan in little or no time?.. This project is set to be the largest money making infrastructure in Nigeria and after paying off the loan, all the billions per month goes into the pocket of the people of Lagos state which means a cash cow to fund other major projects within the state including extending the project to every corner of Lagos state.. And let's not even get into the other benefits from less cars on the road, reduction in noise, fumes and other forms of environmental pollution.. Don't insinuate when you are not part of the delegation. When more information comes out you reference it, until then keep your personal opinion about the nature of a deal signed thousands of miles away in a place you'll never be able to enter, to yourself.
Conclusively if you actually read my reply and not try to do fastest-finger, you'd see that I called it is not entirely an investment (meaning some part is investment, some is loan). If you can't understand English, desist from quoting me or trying to enlighten me. I too know!
-Lord Your views like mine and others in this thread are all based on insinuations and personal opinions since we don't have detailed policies or analysis by the government so you have zero rights or any form of moral authority to question other people's views.. |

The loan amount is larger than expected, putting Nigeria at risk of struggling to repay if the oil price falls further. Buhari is aware of the need to diversify sources of government income, and wants to broaden Nigeria’s tax base and expand its portfolio of export goods. These measures are likely to take years to generate significant additional government revenue, and infrastructure projects are themselves unlikely to generate sufficient income to finance loan repayments in the near term. The crux of the cry baby worries... The whole rubbish article is based on IF. IF what? The government pegged our budget based on $38 per barrel, but oil is selling for $43 per barrel. $43 - $38 = $5 Meaning we are making extra $5 on every barrel of oil which we can save or put in ECA to finance loans or for our infrastructure needs. So, of what relevance is the pointless article based on IF oil prices drops when in fact oil prices is shooting up and we are already making $5 extra over every barrel of oil? IF is a wish and not our current realities.. |

Why bring up anything to prove you wrong when in fact the flawed, inaccurate and disjointed rubbish proved you wrong and countered you rubbish by itself already.? Your rubbish said China is giving us Yuan, but wants to be repaid in dollars, who cares how they get their money back as long as we use whatever we borrow judiciously and get good returns via infrastructures, job creation and manpower development? If China doesn't want Yuan and prefer dollars and is stashing away dollars, what's that got to do with us? Are we in the same boat with China? Do we have abundant export market to generate dollars like China? China can afford to accumulate and stash dollars because they have vast export market as the second largest economy in the world, but we can not because we are not generating any meaningful export to do accumulate dollars and the price of oil which is our only source of dollars is down. It's the apex of idiocy and thoughtlessness to compare our economic situations and need for what we at the moment are not able to attain untill we fix our chronic problems which is growing our export market and local production. Where is the sense and wisdom in using our dollar reserve on imports when at the moment we can not get more bang for our dollars simply because dollars is too strong? The agreement centers around imports of raw materials for our factories and industries which makes a lot of economic sense since nearly all our raw material imports comes from China? It's even absurd and ridiculous to ask how many refineries China have built in Nigeria as if it's China's fault or responsibility to build anything in Nigeria. Is China in charge of Nigeria? Is China responsible for formulating our economic policies or dictate and impose on us what we must build? This is the job of our past useless leaders who refused to build refineries or even maintain the 4 we have. It's silly and irresponsible to blame China for your incompetence and worthless leaders. You tell them what you want first, tell them you need help and funding and not the other way around. China did not build refineries, but they are building and funding metro rails, rail lines, power infrastructures, roads and bridges because we asked them to including funding. You don't open your mouth and expect people to formulate for you what you need, you open your mouth and talk, you put forward our proposals and funding request. China did not build refineries, but they are funding 2 huge cement factories in Nigeria on behalf of dangote which means more jobs and foreign currency potentials for Nigeria and even more cement for export and local consumption? Is this a scam too? Is China training over a thousand Nigerians every year free of charge a scam too? Is China funding a 300 MW solar power plant in Shiroro a scam too? Is China funding our rail system a scam too? In the power sector, North South Power Company Ltd and Sinohydro Corporation Ltd signed an agreement valued at $478,657,941.28 for the construction of 300MW solar power in Shiriro, Niger State.
http://www.instablog9ja.com/uncategorized/buharis-visit-to-china-yields-over-6bn-investments-presidency/ And talking about China exploiting the loan agreement to cheat us or inflate project cost, the above is what China is asking for to build the 300MW solar plan in Nigeria and below is what it cost to build the same 300MW in the USA. 300 MW Solar Project Planned For Utah
Over 1,700 acres of land have already been identified for the construction site and a lease was obtained in May. If construction begins, an estimated 200 jobs would be created. It was reported that the plant could power about 80,000 homes. Some power might also be sent to California via at direct-current line connected from the Intermountain Power Plant at Delta. The proposed plant could be up and running in two to three years.
Such a large project would be quite a leap forward for Utah, where current solar power production is low. The $600 million project will aid residents of Utah and California http://cleantechnica.com/2013/09/26/300-mw-solar-project-planned-utah/ ^^^^^Means China is building the same 300MW for over $100 million less... The only scam I see here is the unpatriotic olodo and writer of the unintelligent rubbish you and your kind are peddling all over the place. |

2. Lagos revived and started the project again, but the PDP government and GEJ mobilised to frustrate the project, even refusing to sign right off way agreements or help secure any loans for the project.
3. Forward to 2016, the same PMB went to China to secure funds for the completion of the same Meto system and even ..

RevDesm0ndJuju: Buhari has began his slippy slope to being replaced as Nijeriya's puppet president.
I have predicted here that the APC govt under Buhari will come to an end in January, 2016.
I made this assertion over Buhari's "stubbornness" to do the bidding of his masters in the west.
It is no news that Jonathan was vehemently opposed by the West over his currency and trade policies that were geared towards China.
The US stopped buying Nigerian crude after the last administration announced diversification of Nigeria's external reserves from the US dollar in the wake of the weakening dollar.
The US did not only stop buying Nigerian crude but also went a step further in portraying the last administration as weak by refusing to provide much needed diplomatic and military support to Nigeria in her fight against Boko Haram insurgents which by the way have all the hallmarks of a US backed destabilizing militia.
The US took it up a notch by furthering campaigns of culmany against the last administration of which notably is the phantom missing NNPC $50bn or $10bn or $20bn (depending on what figure you choose to believe). There is also the BBOG scam movement which has all the hallmarks of the now dead and buried Kony 2012 CIA Psych Operation. Rubbish. Where you concerned when Jona and his gang was looting and sharing our money including the $2 billion from the same US they looted No, you were busy shouting GEJ till 2019. We have no issues with the West and the West has no issues with US, in fact the same, UK in particular just today gave us free 40 million pounds and the US is still doubling their assistance so exactly what necessitated your upside down write up? As of today, Buhari has been dealt the short end of the stick as the US and western banks have refused to grant Nigeria any form of economic reprieve after Buhari cancelled all bilateral deals with China.
The US and western bankers are insisting that Buhari devalue the Naira and also open our borders for cheap imports.
Buhari has stubbornly refused to do so and this has led to the first salvos being fired by his western masters.
Of late, Buhari has not been having positive reviews from western based media outlets which were instrumental in portraying Buhari as the messiah of Nigeria. Today, we see editorials and articles from western based publications condemning Buhari's economic policies.
The BBOG group has suddenly found their voice coincidentally after Buhari went off to China to open economic talks with that country.
You will recall that the BBOG campaign of calumny was loudest during the GEJ era when Nigeria hosted the World Economic Forum with China at Abuja in 2014.
We are also seeing the ICC opening up investigation into gross human rights abuse and murder of innocent civilians by this govt. The west never commented on the Shiite or Biafran massacre but all of a sudden they are now sending a delegation to Nigeria to open up investigation on these two incidences.
All these stem from Buhari (rightfully in my opinion) looking towards China.
Buhari can never count on my vote neither do i hold a favorable opinion of him as president of Nigeria but I will like to advice him to be very wary of the west.
He has entered a deal with the devil and there is no going back.
I wish him all the luck he can get in getting out of this deal with the devils of the west. The West offered loans via IMF, but we turned it down and our finance minister is still in the US with IMF letting them know our stand and the reasons for our action. Every sickness has it's brand of prescription, their prescription is not we we need right now, we have our own indigenous solutions and methods which is working as we speak. We know you people hate and have no love for your own country and you'd rather see your own country destruct and also the fact that bigotry and tribalism means hatred for your own president, but Nigeria is more than you people so stop trying to prove this to us, we already know this about you people. Hate, bitterness and self destruction is all you know so what's new exactly? |

Uchan4u: You can't judge him with the decrease in IGR. with the downturn in the economy, it is expected to affect the IGR. This is because the IGR is a derivative of the economic activities going on within a state. If there is decrease in economic activities, as it is nationwide, you don't expect the IGR to be increasing unless the government is adding more woes on the populace. So it's now ok to factor in oil price drop because it's your foolish and incompetent role model who is yet to build 1 single classroom after years in office, but you claim oil price drop amnesia and ignorance when you shout like bingo at PMB per Nigeria's economic challenges... You jokers no dey carry last with your hypocrisy and silly comedy.. |

thesicilian: Honestly I can neither make head nor tail of your ramblings. I just made a statement of fact concerning our financial situation. I am no fan of GEJ vs PMB, APC vs PDP, or any other acronyms out there. The fact is that it is unfair to the Nigerian populace to be asking for more tax when there are obvious loopholes in the management of what has already been paid in.
Just think of it as fetching water in a basket. The woman basically highlighted the problem and your concerns about the loopholes and explained what they are doing to address the problem and your concerns, but you ignored all that just to argue and do unnecessary agidi ... You are not making any sense. Maybe because you don't know how to read and comprehend.. |

Joel3: sorry boy, if by now you don't know, then there is little i can do to help you.
go ask Zimbabwe. if the west sanction Nigeria. you won't be able to use that phone you are using to access nairaland. they control everything including your ATM master card. Nigeria is not Zimbabwe and our policies are not anti anybody, we deal with and take from everybody. The UK today just gave us 40 million pounds free money to help us. They know we need help and they alone can not offer everything we need hence sourcing the help from everywhere.. A stable and healthy Nigeria is in their best interest.. Only foolish people stash their eggs in just one basket. |

The Managing Director of Numerix Development Limited, Mr. Babs Aina, made the pledge at the second consultative assembly organised by the state at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, Ibadan, on Thursday.
Aina, who promised that the figure would progressively increase to $100m in the next few years, said the investment would target maize and soya beans in the interim.
Other investors that pledged commitment to the initiative were the Managing Director of Winchester Farms Limited, Ibadan, who is also the Managing Director of Costain West Africa PLC, Mr. Ayodeji Karim; and the Chief Executive Officer of Psaltry International Limited, Mrs. Yetunde Iranloye
Top officials of agriculture research institutes, finance institutions, agro-allied business investors, and other stakeholders had converged on IITA to brainstorm on the revival of the agriculture potential of the state as alternative source of revenue.
At the forum were the Director-General of IITA, Dr. Nteranya Sanginga; Director, Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, Prof. James Adediran, top officials of research institutes and the Head, Development Finance office of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Ibadan, Mr. Bamiji Akinola.
Also in attendance at the event tagged "AgricOyo" were top officials of the Cocoa Research Institute, National Horticultural Research Institute, Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria, federal ministry of agriculture, among others.
Speaking at the event, the governor stressed that the target of the state was to harness the agriculture potential of the state with the ultimate ambition of becoming the food basket of the South-West, Nigeria in the short run and West Africa in the long run.
With an expanse of land spanning 28,454 square kilometer, the governor said that the state had the largest arable land in the Southern part of the country and human resources, which gave it comparative advantage over many other states.
Ajimobi called for attitudinal change among the people, advising that the people must work hard to survive instead of relying on prayers alone to provide their needs
