[/s] President Jonathan Regime Moves Against Media As Soldiers Raid Print Media
The Goodluck Jonathan Administration on Friday moved against the Nigerian media by preventing the circulation of some newspapers and harassing vendors in a nationwide crackdown that has been likened to the dark days of the military era.
Armed soldiers and operatives of the State Security Service on Friday morning raided distribution vans, seized and damaged copies of newspapers nationwide.
Major Nigerian newspapers were affected by the apparently coordinated operation.
There were random forceful seizures of newspapers, including The PUNCH at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, while distribution vans were stopped and searched in different parts of the country.
Distributors told our correspondents that wrappers of The PUNCH were stripped off with the cover of some copies damaged, while several copies of The Nation, Leadership and Daily Trust were confiscated.
One of our circulation officials, who witnessed the situation at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, said that a group of heavily armed soldiers stormed the cargo unit of the airport in a search of an undisclosed newspaper.

kunle4toyeyaho: In as much as I don’t agree with Tinubu on most issues, I stand by him on his position on Ondo State APC matter. What is an offence in asking the leadership of the Party to uphold a rule created by it ?Over 200 fake delegates’ names were inserted in the list of delegates from the National Secretariat of the party, the Party’s appeal committee confirmed the process that led to Aketi’s emergence was a fraud & recommended cancellation. Would Akeredolu have agreed with the process ,if he had not been the beneficiary ? My questions to Oyegun are : Why did he wave aside the recommendation of appeal panel that the primary election should be cancelled? Why did he wave aside the voting decision of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party that recommended cancellation of the election particularly when 6 out of 11 present voted in support of cancellation ?Why didn’t he notify other NWC members of his intention to submit Aketi’s name to INEC even when the last prayer of the meeting had not been said ?Why didn’t he respond to Tinubu’s letter immediately until he visited Aso rock to solicit PMB’s support ? it is because APC has won the election, that’s why many people are not looking at the gravity of injustice done to other contestants by Oyegun ?Whether now or in future , the hierarchy of the party would know Tinubu meant well by asking Oyegun to be fair to other contestants through the process created by it.PMB however was very partial in the way he handled the matter. Even within the APC and the so called progressive party, crookedness and lawlessness is still a way of life. How do you openly violate your own rules, ignore and set aside conclusions and recommendations by your own legally constituted party working committee? I'm sure Tinubu himself is now looking at the party he worked so hard to create with serious progressive ideals as another Nigerian corrupt, lawless and bogus entity. PMB definitely was not partial because being partial means demanding that party rules and committees must be respected and followed. The fact that PMB supported such injustice and gross disregard of stated rules and party recommendations stinks and calls into question his own sense of justice, honesty, truthfulness and party unity, a thoughtless and selfish move designed to create disunity and lack of trust across the party. This move creates mistrust and questions the party's integrity and leadership. Just imagine the Akeredolu man feeling emboldened and openly insulting Tinubu of all people and the rest of the SW? This move reminds me of the laughable PDP 16 is greater than 19 governor's forum election joke which ultimately led to the beginning of the end of the PDP with Amaechi and others leaving the PDP and the PDP ultimately losing the election in 2015. SuperS1Panther: I am not bothered with other states. I am bothered about my state.
The reason why it is not existent in other states is because others use their own funds to renovate their schools while Aregbe merged schools together and use the consolidated fund meant for each school to build a single school at outrageous costs.
Others used a strategy that will not get their states overtly indebted, while ours used a strategy that will create a debt hole for the state and which also guarantees maximum looting.
Being indebted is not the problem. US is the most indebted nation but has enough asset in form of infrastructure to back it up. Lagos is the most indebted state but has sufficient asset to match it. Dangote is the most indebted individual in this country today, but he has sufficient assets to offset it, if need be.
The difference in Osun State case is the state is indebted but without corresponding asset in terms of infrastructure to match the level of indebtedness. Which projects have been completed in the state that is worth over 200bn indebtedness.
Where did the excess of the borrowed fund developed wings to? You and your Ogbeni are fraudulent, insincere with the people and a looting personified.
List all the achievements and show the world the corresponding amount spent on each of your achievement and we shall see whether you should be stoned or not.
Sycophancy is a deadlier disease than HIV. You have the right to support who you want for whatever reason but rubbing your sycophancy in our faces will not be allowed without exposing the fraud you and your cohorts are.
Say the truth and shame the Devil.
Stop supporting the mortgaging the lives of the future generations for a crumb you are getting today.
Say No To Devilish Sycophancy. 1. Debt is really not a bad thing if there are relevant, quality and meaningful projects on the ground to justify the debt which in the case of Osun, there more than enough projects on the ground to justify the debt with. 2. Osun state delivered more projects than all the other states in Nigeria after Lagos state and Rivers under Amaechi and going by population and available resources, Osun did better than Lagos state. 3. You can not tell us or determine what and how much is commensurable to the project on the ground unless you are a building engineer, contractor and broker of labor with detailed knowledge, estimates and cost of labor, cost of building materials, roofing, painting, landscaping, school furniture, plumbing to the amount spent on roads, flyover, interchange and how much farmers and food vendors are paid for the state's school feeding program. 4. All you can do is speculate, spew innuendos and bogus utterances without facts and until you are able to show us the difference between what was spent on any of these schools or any project in Osun state and similar projects in other places costing less.
