4. He will be better than Buhari in dealing with the insurgents because he was once a northern traditional ruler (of one of the largest emirates) with lots loyalist that will help him genuinely navigate the expulsion and defeat of the terrorists.

5. He is a detribalized Nigerian and he is westernized and not a bigot

6. He has the leverage to connect the elite class and talakawas or commoners all over Nigeria

7. The north will have the opportunity of having equal years of leadership in the political dispensation as the south at the end of his first term

8. If Emefiele, the current CBN governor can aspire to rule Nigeria, why not a former CBN governor ?

9. All those who were disappointed he became a King instead of seeking political office will. have the opportunity of electing him as President

10. His emergence will encourage other traditional rulers to be good kings because if they are popular enough to gain wide acceptance- they too can relinquish their thrones and run for office

The North (Fulani in particular). The simple agenda is to get a Southerner who will serve for the shortest possible period of time for them to continue destroying the country. Imagine recruiting Boko Haram into Nigerian army and offering amnesty to the terrorist group just to repeat what was done to the Niger Delta militants. I'm happy that Jonathan has outsmarted them. But we should not rest on our oars in ensuring that sanity is brought back to our system.
You people have been completely brainwashed about Fulani issues and ur education is rendered useless for accepting every nonsense feed to ur empty head!

Let me give u this free insight, Badaru and Buni sponsored all these Jonathan saga during their visit to Makkah for Umrah and conspired to come with this agenda that is why Badaru bought Presidential ticket immediately after coming back so that he can force his way to be VP and subsequently become APC flag bearer after GEJ's 4yrs term. Now, tell me who is Fulani among them?
Badaru is Buzu by tribe while Buni is kanuri!

Therefore, it is highly impossible for significant number of people to come to Nigeria and naturalised unnoticed to the extent of having roles and authority in the settled country. No way, someone will come to Nigeria amidst intense political competition and contest election without been publicly call out.
Differentiating Hausa and Fulani is very difficult for someone who doesn't even know the difference between Northerners just because they are wearing Hausa attire!

I was expecting this, so pls tell me why ?
God doesn’t have a son; it all depends on what you mean by the word son. In the Hebrew Bible, Israel was called God’s son, the king was called God’s son, and the angels were called God’s sons. Is it any wonder that the Messiah, the ideal representative of Israel, the king of all earthly kings, and the one more highly exalted than the angels, should be called God’s Son? More than anyone else (in the sight of Christ believers) who has walked this earth, Jesus the Messiah is uniquely entitled to be called the Son of God.

Obviously, none of us believe that God had a son in the same way that a human father would have a son. We are fully aware that the creator of the universe wasn’t married. What then do we mean when we say that Jesus is the “Son of God”?

Christian theologians often explain that Jesus was “eternally begotten of the Father,” yet that is not the easiest concept to grasp. Technical terms such as circumincession, coinherence, subordinationism, and prolation don’t help us much either. (To tell you the truth, I’m not too sure I can even tell you precisely what each of these words means.) So rather than getting too theological, let’s think through some issues with regard to the concept of “son of God” in the Bible, and as we study these issues, remember this one important fact: We believe that the Son of God is truly divine, eternal, and not created. When he came down to earth, he took on human form, and from that point on, we have known him as Jesus the Messiah. The eternal Son of God made himself known to us as Yeshua, the Jewish carpenter, rabbi, Messiah, and Savior of the world.

Turning to the biblical concept of “son,” any student of the Semitic languages knows that the word son (Hebrew, ben; Aramaic, bar; Arabic, ibn) has many different meanings. It can refer to literal offspring (such as one’s physical son or distant descendant) as well as to metaphorical offspring (such as “the sons of the prophets,” meaning the disciples of the prophets). When applied to the Israelite king, it means “son” by divine adoption (e.g., 2 Sam. 7:14: “I will be his father, and he will be my son”), and it can even apply to the people of Israel as a whole, since they were specially chosen by God (see Exod. 4:22–23: “Then say to Pharaoh, ‘This is what the Lord says: Israel is my first born son, and I told you, “Let my son go, so he may worship me” ’ ”). In this sense, it could also apply to the obedient people of Israel as individuals (Hosea 1:10: “They will be called ‘sons of the living God.’ ”).

Another meaning of “son” has to do with those who belong to the same class of being. Thus the angels are called benei ʾelohim, “sons of God,” meaning those who share in the qualities of ʾelohim: partaking of heavenly, spirit nature as opposed to the earthly, flesh nature of humans.

Therefore, the angels, the kings, and the nation could be called “sons of God.” In the Hebrew Scriptures, it seems that God had many sons! And Israel was even called his “firstborn.” But neither the angels nor the king nor the people of Israel were literally sons of God, as if the Lord consorted with a goddess who then gave birth, the way the gods and goddesses did in pagan mythology. Unfortunately, some traditional Jewish teachers have understood the concept of Jesus the Messiah as “Son of God” in a crassly literal way, and some segments of the church may have contributed to this. It is important, then, that we understand in exactly what ways the Messiah is the Son of God.

Israel, the Lord’s “firstborn son,” was specially singled out by God and appointed to a specific mission. In a unique sense, God himself was Israel’s Father. So, too, Jesus the Messiah was specially singled out and appointed to a specific mission, and in a unique sense, God was his Father. But, quite obviously, the sonship of Jesus goes well beyond the sonship of Israel. What about the sonship of Israel’s king? There are a number of important Scripture passages to consider.

In Samuel 7:14, in which the Lord tells David that he will establish a dynasty for him, treating the future ruling sons of David as his own sons. Speaking of Solomon he said, “I will be his father, and he will be my son.” In Psalm 2:7, the king (David? Solomon? a later descendant of David?) says, “I will tell of the decree. The Lord said to me, ‘You are My son; this day have I begotten you.’ " When did the Lord utter those words? They were probably spoken by a prophet at the time of the king’s coronation, when the descendant of David became recognized as a “son” of God, and they may have become a regular feature of that momentous ceremony, whenever a new king would begin his reign.

But there’s something more. Note carefully those final words: “today I have begotten you” (ʿani hayyom yelidtika; yalad is the standard Hebrew verb used for a woman giving birth to a baby or a man fathering a child). Either this is a direct prophecy of Jesus (and there are many Christians who would say it is!), or else it indicates that when David (or one of his sons) became king, his adoption by God was recognized as some kind of divine begetting. The choice of words is quite bold! “Today I have begotten you.”

But the plot thickens. Many times in the psalms, the Lord and his anointed king are described in equally exalted terms, and similar reverence is required for both. Consider these following clear parallels (which is translated for greater clarity): In Psalm 83:18, God is “the Most High over all the earth,” while in Psalm 89:28, it is the Davidic king, designated significantly as “firstborn,” who has been appointed “the most high of the kings of the earth.” In Psalm 86:9, “all nations will bow down” to the Lord, yet in 72:11, the foreign kings will bow down to the Davidic king. First Chronicles 29:20 is even more to the point: “They [i.e., the people] bowed down and did obeisance to the Lord and to [David] the king.” So also in Psalm 2:11 and 100:2, the rulers and peoples are exhorted to worship/serve the Lord, while in 18:44 and 72:11, it is the Davidic king whom they must worship/serve.

Both God and his anointed king are worthy of praise (see Ps. 67:4, where the peoples are called on to extol God, and 45:17[18], where it is the king whom they will extol forever), and both are clothed with “glory and honor” (cf., e.g., Ps. 96:6 with 21:6). Of the royal king it can be said, “All kings will bow down to him and all nations will serve him” (Ps. 72:11); for “I will also appoint him my firstborn, the most exalted [elyon] of the kings of the earth” (Ps. 89:27[28]). “I will set his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers” (Ps. 89:25[26]), and “I will establish … his throne as long as the heavens endure” (Ps. 89:29[30]). “Therefore the nations will praise [him] for ever and ever” (Ps. 45:17[18]).

God’s “son,” the Davidic king, was quite an exalted figure! Is it any winder that Scripture declares that in the Messianic era the people “will serve the Lord their God and David their king” (Jer. 30:9)?

Let me state these facts again clearly: According to the Hebrew Bible, the Davidic king was called God’s son and firstborn, and he was described as begotten by God. He was to be praised, extolled, served, and adored. How much more could this be said of the supreme Davidic king, the Messiah, the ultimate “Son of God”?

We know, of course, that Jews have no other gods aside from the Lord. That is the first of the Ten Commandments, and, as we saw in answering the last objection, a true, New Testament faith in Jesus the Messiah agrees with this both in letter and in spirit. But here is something interesting to consider: Even if you didn’t understand that the Messiah was both divine and human (and therefore, in praising and adoring him we really are praising and adoring God), you would still need to recognize that every major Hebrew word for worship, praise, service, adoration, and obeisance that is used in the Bible with reference to God is also used with reference to the Messiah, the Davidic king. These are indisputable facts.
PoliticsSources: APC Governor Bought Presidential Forms For Jonathan by ArewaNorth(op): 10:56am On May 10, 2022
A governor of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) bought the nomination and expression of interest forms for former President Goodluck Jonathan, according to sources.

A group called Nomadic Pastoralists and the Almajiri Communities led by one Ibrahim Abdullahi picked up the forms on Jonathan’s behalf on Monday, claiming they paid for them.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after picking the forms, Abdullahi said they decided to purchase the forms for Jonathan to enable him stage a comeback and continue with the good work he had started.

But hours after the news went viral, Jonathan’s Media Adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, said his principal did not authorise the purchase of the forms but thanked the donors for their concern.

He also said Jonathan was not in the presidential race of the ruling party.

Daily Trust gathered from sources that a serving northern governor credited the APC Collection Account domiciled with Heritage Bank, with N100m.

The bank had also in a letter dated May 9, 2022 told the APC that it received the amount.

The letter was titled, ‘Notification of credit into account: All Progressives Congress (APC) Collections Account: 5600007616’.

Daily Trust had reported how two influential governors from the northern part of the country are plotting the return bid of Jonathan.

Multiple sources, who are in the know, said the two governors, close to President Muhammadu Buhari, have secured the buy-in of a section of the presidency to actualise their agenda of drafting the former president into the presidential race.

While one of the governors is from the North West, the other is from the North East geopolitical zone.

The two governors have been playing key roles in the affairs of the APC in the last few years.

In the last seven years, the former president has not been attending activities of his party.

This is just as his romance with President Buhari and top shots of the ruling party takes the centre stage, a development that has pitched him against opposition leaders in the country.

The purchase of presidential forms for Jonathan changed the whole discussion around the 2023 presidency.

PoliticsIs Jonathan Constitutionally Allowed To Run? by ArewaNorth(op): 11:54pm On May 09, 2022
The question should rather be, ‘Is Jonathan capable of running’? The fuss should not be about the constitutionality of his candidacy but on his capabilities. On both counts of constitutionality and capability, Dr Jonathan Goodluck still remains a problem candidate

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan handed over power to President Mohammadu Buhari in 2015 without hesitation and that stamped a tag of a hero on him, which was unfortunate, as well as a huge surprise to many who were privy to his administrative weakness, his multidimensional failure, poor economic choices and disastrous handling of power, energy, and insecurity the main reasons Nigeria has remained underdeveloped today.

The same person Wole Soyinka described in 2015 as a “problematic candidate”: In a BBC interview where the Noble Laureate laceratingly presented a robust proof of the former president’s encagement by what he called ‘sinister forces’ of evil and obvious doom. He was unimpressively controlled by people who never understood the relevance of power, energy and security in an economy.

In a time of economic boom between 2012 and 2015 that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan couldn’t fix power generation once and for all in Nigeria, and build a lasting energy security model, should have been tagged the worst crime in the history of leadership in the world.

A man whose 6 years political peregrination oozed overwhelmingly of grace misused, opportunity squandered, waste amplified, corruption maximized, insecurity escalated, cronyism in governance entrenched should be tagged incapable of a return to power.

That legal luminaries such as Femi Falana are only denouncing his candidacy based on constitutionality is not bright enough at all given that the constitution is as vague as ever on this matter.

Femi Falana is missing the point after all for arguing that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan isn’t eligible to run for Presidential election in 2023 citing a law that was just enacted 4 years ago. Based on the constitutionality argument alone former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan would rise to power again to worsen Nigeria’s predicament. People hardly change. The subtle reoccurrence of 1984 between 2015 and 2022 should have taught Nigerians a lesson.

Take a look at the item in the constitution added in 2018 that Mr Femi Falana deployed in his argument last week: “Section 137(3) of the fourth alteration to the 1999 constitution reads: “A person who was sworn in to complete the term for which another person was elected as president shall not be elected to such office for more than a single term””.

He argued that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan isn’t fit for presidency based on that law. His argument attracted many commentators who disagree with him, based on the same piece of legislation.

This section of the constitution which the learned Senior Advocate of Nigeria deployed was an addition to the constitution, and that section clearly excluded the possibility of retrospectivisation because it was enacted three years after Jonathan had left office, and the legislators didn’t expressly clarify whether it will apply from when it was enacted in the Electoral Act Amendment 2018, in their bid to stop VP Yemi Osibanjo and any other Vice President in the future who may take over from a sitting President as former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan did.

The law was enacted in the heat of President Buhari’s illness. The law took its validity from Act number 16, already approved speedily by President Buhari, which was to ensure that a Vice President or a deputy governor who succeeds and completes the tenure of a president or governor can only run for the office one more time.

Goodluck Ebele Jonathan had already ran for the second time in 2015. Act 16 has a specific intent to ensure that where a Vice President succeeds the president and where a deputy governor succeeds a governor, he can no more contest for that office more than once more. This perhaps should begin from 2018 when it was enacted.

Shouldn’t it? Unless it is clearly stated or it is targeting particular persons and that person should be Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan or the current Vice President Prof. Yemi Osibanjo (SAN). And the fact would be that Mr Goodluck Jonathan having taken the oath as President once, and can only contest for once again and no more.

His contest in 2011 would be tagged enough. That is the intent of this amendment. But Jonathan had already contested in 2015. The law didn’t specify that it affects those in the past.

Mr Mike Ozekhome in his view agrees with this position that based on the constitution that former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has the right to run for election in 2023. He argued that those trying to deny Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s legal, moral, constitutional rights are doing so out of selfish interests: “They have probably not adverted their minds to sections 141 of the Electoral Act, 2010, as amended, and section 285(13) of the same fourth alteration to the 1999 constitution, as amended, which they are relying on”, he added in an interview with Channels Tv last week. He also pointed that Section 137(3) cannot apply retrospectively. That that section didn’t clearly state that it included past leaders means that it cannot be applied to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

However, the same Section 141 of the Electoral Act 2010 that Mr Ozekhome cited to further buttress his support for Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has been a subject of controversy.

On July 22, 2011, an Abuja Federal High Court voided Sections 140(2) and 141 of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended. The court also declared the two sections null, void and unconstitutional. The court therefore ordered that the two sections should not be binding on any ongoing election tribunal following the April general elections held across Nigeria.

Uwakwe and Nwabuchili in a 2017 paper published by the European Centre for Research, Training and Development contended that the National Assembly acted in excess of its legislative powers when enacting Sections 140(2) and 141 of the Electoral Act 2010 as Amended, and any action taken by any of the authorities without or in excess of its legal authority or power is ultra vires the Constitution and therefore void.

In the same line of argument, the section 137(3) cited by Mr Femi Falana was not clearly written as to who it applies to and when it begins to apply. Even at that we can see that both amendments namely 2010 and 2018 Electoral Acts were done in bad faith without clarity. The constitution is full of contradictions. Which makes for heavy legal consequences even when arguing about the eligibility of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

As I have been suggesting, Nigeria needs an improved constitution. The current constitution is so muddled and messy. It really hampers the maintenance of justice and make the job of lawyering and citizenship hard.

The best argument to stop Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is on the grounds of capacity. When he was a president what did he do that would warrant PDP or APC to give him the opportunity to come back to Aso Rock?

That he even intends to go back to APC that pushed him out of power indicates extreme lack of integrity and policy, stability and capability to stand with what he believes. It is like President Donald Trump joining the Democratic Party. It is never done by any serious leader.

Under Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Nigeria couldn’t fix its power and energy generation problem, we had worst level of fuel scarcity annually, oil theft was enormous, insecurity was the norm as it is today.

Nigeria needs a new breed, a detribalized individual who eligible and capable to solve the power problems in the north and south of Nigeria. Nigeria needs a strong-willed leader who can unite Nigerians. Nigeria needs a man who has the capacity to respect freedom of speech, rebuild the educational system, revolutionize agriculture, railways and transportation system and other infrastructure. A man who will not come and begin to argue that stealing isn’t corruption.

In terms of constitutionality and capability former President Goodluck Jonathan is a problem candidate.

Goodluck Ebele Jonathan could be a hero, but he is not the most capable hand or most constitutionally eligible personality in Nigeria today for the Presidential office. There are many people who are capable and more constitutionally eligible. I ask again: Is Jonathan capable to run?

PoliticsICC Prosecutor Visited Buhari After Shunning Letters On Christians’ Persecut by ArewaNorth(op): 6:09am On May 07, 2022
ICC prosecutor visited Buhari after shunning letters on Christians’ persecution in Nigeria – CAN

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed its displeasure with the International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor, Karim Khan.

Khan, who was in Nigeria a fortnight ago, held talks with President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the State House in Abuja.

In a statement on Friday, CAN General Secretary, Joseph Daramola said the body wrote to Khan twice in 2021 to engage him on religious violence affecting Christians.

“Till this day, we have not heard any response. Mr. Khan failed to make any contact with us before, during or after his visit to Abuja.

“To our consternation, we found out about his visit in the media. It appears that this Prosecutor engages in political games and is unwilling to engage with victims of atrocity.”

The Christian leadership maintained there is a great deal of explaining to be done because Khan only met with Nigerian officials.

CAN accused Khan of playing a political game, prioritizing relations with the government and not interested in standing up for those being attacked.

The statement noted that for many years, the Christian community has borne the brunt of the religious violence in Africa’s biggest nation.

“We have, in a communication that was ignored by the Prosecutor, pointed out flaws in the approach taken by his predecessor in relation to Nigeria.”

CAN vowed to vigorously challenge the murder and targeting of Christians even if the ICC does not take a decisive action as expected.

Noting that the search for justice and redress for “persecuted and brutalized Christians” will not stop, the body said it remained willing to engage Khan and his office.

Roysnickz:
Which doubt exactly did you thread cleared? For goodness seek, what has the ACT your thread quoted got to do with the CBN Governor's political aspiration.
Be inform that the office of the President which the CBN Governor is aspiring for is an elected political office hence it's guided by the ELECTORAL ACT/LAW and not the CBN ACT.
You should have rather qouted provisions of the electoral act to clear the doubters. Thanks.
Electoral Act is silent about CBN Governor's position and only technicalities can clear that issue except using legal ruling on his candidacy. Emphasis is made on what CBN's Acts because most Nigerians know electoral Act's position on people holding political appointments.
FAQs drew the journalist's attention to publish the article and I'm very much sure many people are eager to know the side of CBN concerning his candidacy since they know the position of Electoral Act!

Northerners make sense the problem na Southern Representatives
Sad Babba Kai ta, Senator Representing Buhari constituency gave more than 500 offer letters in his less than 5yrs in the senate. He will just mention like 20, 30 or 50 names on his FB post and ask them to check their phone messenger.
In the North, the easiest way for NASS members to lose election is to fail to find job for their constituents. Some law makers have recently done wonderfully!

In the North, sometimes u don't necessarily need to know a NASS member but have a good degree certificate in good field if u don't know anybody, they'll just ask their PAs to find certain number of candidates who have first class or 2:1 in some disciplines and send them straight to Abuja. Exams and interviews are of no important to them.
However, this has been a big problem to the most qualified candidates who aren't sent by anybody because before u go there the quota system of ur state might be taken.
TravelNew UK Visa Exempts Graduates From Nigerian Universities by ArewaNorth(op): 5:59pm On May 06, 2022
The United Kingdom is set to commence issuance of a new visa that allows holders of bachelor degrees, masters and doctorates to travel to the country and work in fields such as science, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The visa allows applicants to relocate to the UK without a prior job offer or sponsorship but some of the requirements exempt those who graduated from Nigerian universities.

UK is one of the choice destinations for many Nigerians seeking to relocate abroad.

The new visa policy, which is expected to take off on May 30, requires prospective applicants to have graduated from top 50 schools featured in renowned world university ranking.

According to the UK Minister of Safe and Legal Migration, Kevin Foster, the “High Potential Individual” visa route is targeted at attracting high-skilled foreign university graduates, who will be allowed to work and stay in the UK for two or three years.

On the expiration of the visa, the holders can switch to “permits under the skilled worker, start up and innovator, exceptional talent, or scale up route” for continued stay in the UK.

Checks by Daily Trust, however, revealed that no Nigerian university features among the top 50 universities in the latest reports of the three global university rankings recognised by the UK government.

The government said the list would be compiled annually and would comprise institutions included in the list of “the top 50 universities in at least two of the following ranking systems.”

The ranking systems are: Times Higher Education World University rankings, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University rankings and the Academic Ranking of the World Universities.

Also, the applicants must have been awarded a degree, equivalent to “not less than UK bachelor’s degree.”

“The new High Potential Individual route will make it as simple as possible for internationally mobile individuals who demonstrate high potential to come to the UK. It will enable those who have already demonstrated their potential through academic achievement to come to the UK without a prior job offer,” Foster said in a statement.

Applicants are also required to show the equivalent of at least £1,270 in their bank account for a continuous 28-day period no later than 31 days prior to making the High Potential Individual visa application.

The statement further read, “If you’ve been resident in the UK for more than 12 months, you might not need to meet this requirement. Graduates with a bachelor’s or a master’s degree will be given a two-year visa. PhD or another doctoral level graduates will get visas valid for three years. This visa can only be granted once and will not be available to those who have already had Graduate visa.

“You will be able to bring your dependants, such as a partner or children under the age of 18, with you. “Partner” refers to either a spouse, civil partner, or unmarried partner. However, unmarried partners must show that they have lived together for at least two years, and that their relationship is genuine, according to reports.”
